"Quirk is Tom's henchman."
Kane poured himself another glass of water; he knew it.
Now Dumbledore began tidying the table and pulled out the mandrake again: "Alright, Kane, I won't keep you any longer. Children and the elderly need plenty of sleep."
Dumbledore stood up and helped Kane open the door to his office. After a while, watching Kane's departing figure, he slowly spoke again: "By the way, Kane, I still think I should tell you this. Tom and Quirrell are trying to obtain your power."
"Thank you for telling me. This might prove that the feather was still somewhat useful."
Dumbledore nodded, and then slowly closed the door.
Kane felt dizzy as he walked out of Dumbledore's office.
A wizarding terrorist is hiding in this school, constantly plotting to murder his friends and seize his powers, though he could never actually do it; Harry is the one who will bear the brunt of the danger.
Sitting idly by and waiting to be executed is absolutely impossible...
emmmmm...
After a long silence, he murmured softly, "Harry, the friendship fee you paid me in Diagon Alley is definitely the most valuable investment you've ever made in your life!"
Kane wasn't in a hurry to go back to his dorm anymore, so he went straight to the library, which was open at night and, if he was lucky, he could even sneak into the restricted section.
But that wasn't his goal. He just wanted to check the Daily Prophet from previous years to see what level this so-called Voldemort really was.
He soon arrived at the library, built a campfire near the archives where young wizards would never normally be seen, and picked up old newspapers and modern history of magic.
The situation was serious. The more he looked, the more he realized that Voldemort seemed to be going a bit too far. Compared to Voldemort, even Old Michael was quite handsome, since he would actually remind himself to find something to eat before nightfall.
Although when we're joking around, we always use Voldemort as a lamb to be cooked, you've killed hundreds, not bad, but what about yesterday?
But if a powerful dark wizard who has killed hundreds of people were to appear beside you now, hiding in the shadows and watching you, absolutely no one would be able to remain calm.
Including Kane.
"Oh dear, I've run into big trouble without even realizing it."
Kane sighed, picked up a piece of parchment from the ground, and listed a few short-term tasks inside.
Try to test if the flesh statue works, continue studying magic, focusing on Polymorph and Charms, and make the Shadow Manipulator as soon as possible after digging up the gem at Christmas. Use the Shadow Manipulator to control the Shadow Blade and Shadow Armor.
Finally, if the flesh statue doesn't work, you should try to obtain gold and rubies to craft a rebirth charm as your last resort.
After all, they were betting everything on Dumbledore's reliability, including their own and Harry's lives.
Sorry, Kane isn't that unreliable.
"Eh~"
He looked at the plan he had made for himself, memorized it, and then threw the parchment into the campfire.
"Some are rolled up!"
Chapter Fifty-Eight: Christmas Holiday
It is said that happy times are fleeting, but for Kane, studying at Hogwarts was indeed a truly happy time, because he was so engrossed in his studies that he could forget that Voldemort was secretly watching Harry and himself from the shadows.
Before I knew it, my study time was over, and the Christmas holidays were just around the corner.
Well, it's not that sad, actually. At least my grave-digging business is about to see the light of day again, and I'm about to get my hands on the Shadow Manipulator!
Not necessarily. In any case, let's hope that the cemetery Dumbledore mentioned has enough graves.
Harry was packing his clothes to go home. He didn't actually have many clothes, and he wouldn't have wanted to go back if it weren't for the fact that he had to force Kane to go back and apologize to the Dursleys.
Poor Harry, after hearing from Kane that he did indeed plan to leave school for Christmas, naturally assumed that Kane was going back to apologize to him, little did he know that Kane was there to dig up his grave.
He had even prepared three shovels in advance, just in case he didn't have enough.
After digging through all the graves in that area, he would quickly take the Portkey from Dumbledore and return to Hogwarts, most likely with Harry, if he wasn't a masochist.
"Oh, I never thought I'd be the only one at Hogwarts on Christmas." At Hogsmeade Station, Ron said a sullen goodbye to Kane, Harry, and Hermione. With the three of them gone, he had no one to eat with.
"Come on, Ron, you'll never lack friends, no matter what you lack." Kane scoffed, knowing Ron all too well. In all of Gryffindor, the only other Weasleys could rival him in social standing. He truly was someone who could never lack friends, no matter what he lacked.
"And you still have your brothers, so just take good care of the house. We'll bring you gifts when we come back." Hermione said with a smile before stepping onto the train. Clearly, her months at Hogwarts had made her a little homesick.
"Goodbye, buddy." Harry didn't say much more. He hugged Ron, patted him on the back, and walked onto the train with Kane.
Throughout the journey, Harry seemed to be trying to be considerate of Kane's feelings, saying everything except about apologizing to the Dursleys.
Hermione's eyes lit up at everything she looked at, and even the Celestial Dragon opposite her seemed a little kinder today.
At dusk, at King's Cross Station in London, on Platform 9¾, Kane got off the train and took a deep breath. The frigid air froze the capillaries in his nasal cavity, allowing him to smell a familiar scent of blood.
"That was great." Kane straightened his horned hat and looked back at Harry, who was jogging over.
The two walked off the platform and returned to the Muggle world. Harry glanced at Kane, who looked slightly melancholy, and patted him on the shoulder: "Let's go, we'll have to face this someday."
Harry then coaxed Kane out of the station and saw Mr. Dursley's car in the distance. Only Mr. Dursley and Aunt Petunia were there. Dudley was probably at home at this time, watching cartoons and eating ice cream.
Harry led Kane to the car, quickly got in, and moved over to make room for him.
Mr. Dursley, who was driving, was furious when he saw Kane standing outside the car. He said irritably, "There aren't many empty rooms in the house. You two will have to stay in the empty room on the second floor when you get home. It'll be a bunk bed! You'll have to stay in a bunk bed!"
Harry was subconsciously delighted to hear this, and even Uncle Vernon's fat and frightening face in the rearview mirror seemed a bit more adorable.
Kane still didn't get into the car, but just said to himself, "Mr. Dursley, Mrs. Dursley, I am very grateful for your hospitality for a month, so I have prepared a small gift for you."
As he spoke, Kane leaned against the driver's side window, reached Bai Jing's hand inside, flipped it over, and then suddenly flicked it, pulling out a crystal-clear, exquisitely beautiful purple gemstone from her sleeve with two fingers.
"This gem cost me 150 gold coins as a Christmas gift to you all... You can even have it appraised if you don't believe me."
The Dursleys and Aunt Petunia had only one thought when they saw the gem: how beautiful it was. Their second thought was that this little rascal they had picked up outside was surprisingly kind-hearted, much better than Harry.
If the gem is really as valuable as he says, then we can adjust the treatment accordingly when we get back.
"Ok?"
Just as they were thinking this, Harry's questioning voice interrupted them.
After regaining their senses, they first looked at the gem in their hand, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that it was not a trick played by the magical imp. Then they looked out the car window, but there was no one there anymore.
Kane, who should have been standing outside, had already walked more than ten meters away.
???
The three people in the car were all puzzled, staring blankly at Kane's receding figure. Mr. Dursley subconsciously drove slowly and followed.
"Hey kid! Get in the car!"
Kane turned to look at the Dursleys who had caught up with him and shook his head: "I came out to give you a Christmas present, and I'm not going back."
Harry was getting anxious. He couldn't just let his good friend go back to sleeping under the bridge, could he?
Before he could even speak, Kane interrupted him, saying, "Harry, I never said I was leaving school to go back with you. Hmm, good luck. If you don't have a good holiday, come find me in Little Hangleton."
After saying that, he walked up a step to the sidewalk, planning to find an alley later and take the Knight Bus to Little Hangleton to dig up the grave overnight.
Harry wanted to get out of the car, but before he could even open the door, Mr. Dursley suddenly accelerated.
“If he doesn’t want to come back, then he should never come back. Do you want to go live under a bridge with him?” Mr. Dursley roared angrily as he drove.
"That's still more comfortable than being in this car!" Harry's stubbornness flared up, and he kicked the car door open, tumbling and scrambling out of the car.
Kane, who had already entered the alley and was about to raise his wand to call the Knight Bus, suddenly heard a panting sound behind him and turned around.
"Hey bro? What are you doing here?" Kane asked, looking completely bewildered.
"Of course I'm here to chase after you, to see what your plans are for this holiday." Harry said in a hoarse voice, leaning on his knees and taking a couple of breaths.
"...Actually, my real problem is...I've almost spent the fifty Galleons I had left, and I only have enough money for one person to take the Knight Bus." Kane said this daunting truth after a long silence.
Harry instinctively touched his pocket: "It's okay, I... I left my Galleons at Hogwarts!"
"........."
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
This proves once again that when people are extremely speechless, they really do laugh.
the next day.........
Kane and Harry got off the bus with aches and pains in their backs. Although they didn't have Galleons, they still had a considerable amount of pounds.
Upon arriving in Little Hangleton, a relatively quiet village, Harry instinctively looked around for hotels or guesthouses, while Kane took out a shovel from his pocket and aimed it at the abandoned church in the center of the village.
Harry, who was halfway through searching for a hotel, saw Kane suddenly carrying a shovel and walking towards the church. In just a second, he knew what Kane was going to do.
"Kane?"
"Kane!"
"Stop! Grave robbing is illegal!"

Chapter 59 Shadow Manipulator
"Grave robbing is illegal!" Harry shouted as he saw Kane enter the cemetery. Kane, however, ignored him and shoveled the shovel into the soil, then stomped on it.

"Ugh, what a sin." Harry slapped his forehead in annoyance, but he quickly realized he couldn't just sit idly by. He had to do something more to prevent Kane from going down the path of crime.
Just as he was about to stop Kane, the latter suddenly lifted the shovel upwards, and a blood-red ruby was dug out of the ground.
???
Harry's head was full of question marks, and his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.
Something's not right, something's not right. Why would there be gems in the soil? No, no, no, perhaps it's not that there are gems in the soil, but rather that the gems were hidden here by Kane before.
Hmm... And Kane just casually poked the shovel into the soil, without even touching the coffin. It shouldn't count as grave robbing; at most, it was just loosening the soil to let the deceased breathe some fresh air.
Harry was quite adept at self-hypnosis; in the end, he even believed it himself and picked up a shovel to help Kane, since there was no name written on the gem anyway.
And so, Harry just grabbed a shovel and shoveled it into a random spot.
boom!
Kane glanced warily at Harry, then at Harry's current actions and the consequences of those actions...
