"It's not because of the grades, it's because Snape is targeting Gryffindor so much," Hermione said angrily.
“Hmm, that’s true.” Kane didn’t have any objection to that statement. Unlike the peaceful Slytherin, Snape spent most of his time loitering around Gryffindor and stirring up trouble.
As soon as the trouble started, not far in front of Kane, Neville and Seamus's cauldrons were like deep-fried watermelons. A volcanic eruption couldn't describe the shocking scene; all that could be seen was Neville's face, which looked like the surface of the moon.
Snape strode over: "Gryffindor, deduct ten points!" Then he flicked his wand and forcefully pressed down the erupting cauldron.
"You two, go to the infirmary and find Madam Pomfrey. Harry Potter, why are you just staring there without a trace of sadness? Does your classmate's misfortune make you feel lucky? Another ten points deducted from Gryffindor!"
In just one short class, Gryffindor had become Gryffindor Boy, while Kane and Hermione were still staring at the cauldron in front of them.
"I'm walking on eggshells trying to concoct this potion. Do you think I can wait until get out of class is over?" Kane said quietly to Hermione.
Before Hermione could get an answer, Snape, who had appeared behind her at some point, spoke in a low voice: "The answer is no, and I must remind you, you're here for Potions, not Potions Material Processing. If you don't handle the cauldron yourself, you'll probably lose all your Gryffindor points."
Gudong!
Kane slowly swallowed a mouthful of saliva, while Hermione, standing beside him, was also so intimidated by Snape's oppressive aura that she couldn't move an inch.
"Professor, are you really going to let me do it?" Kane turned to Snape, wanting a disclaimer.
“Otherwise?” Snape said coldly.
Kane, undeterred by the prospect of death, took the cauldron, picked up the last potion ingredient on the table—a dried frog leg—and tossed it into the cauldron.
In an instant, the potion inside the cauldron emitted an eerie light.
Harry and Ron, who were watching from the sidelines, simultaneously reached out and slapped themselves on the forehead.
It's over, it's over.
Kane watched the frog leg sandwich slowly emerge from the crucible and muttered, "It's over, it's over."
Chapter Thirty-Five: Malfoy, Save Me!
It's quiet now.
The entire classroom fell silent.
Harry and Ron, who already knew what was going to happen, covered their eyes, unable to bear watching.
Hermione was the same, but she was also a little shocked.
She knew Hogwarts wasn't scientific; it was a place that emphasized magic. But the problem was, this was just too magical.
She looked at Kane, who had an innocent expression, as if she now understood why Harry and Ron weren't at his table.
The other students in the classroom were the same; whether they were Gryffindor or Slytherin, the way the young wizards looked at Kane could be summed up as looking at a god.
“This…” Snape slowly moved his lips. He had been a Potions professor at Hogwarts for ten years, and he could say with certainty that he had seen many strange and bizarre things, but at this moment, Kane had done something quite different.
He genuinely had never seen it before.
"Professor, perhaps you could give me a chance?" Kane looked back at Snape pitifully, but it would have been better if he hadn't looked. When he did, he saw that Snape's face was pale and his lips were trembling uncontrollably.
He stared intently at Kane and the frog leg sandwich in the cauldron, and finally had to use Occlusion, a spell that forcibly clears the mind of all random thoughts, to barely recover.
This scene also gave Kane quite a fright. If Snape, the headmaster of Slytherin, were to be angered to death by Kane in class, he would probably make a huge grudge.
"Professor, are you alright?" he asked in a low voice.
"Twenty points deducted from Gryffindor, and then you... get out." Snape said through gritted teeth, barely suppressing his emotions.
"OK!" Kane immediately left his seat and walked out of the classroom.
"Take your sandwich with you!"
Kane went back, picked up the frog leg sandwich, and stuffed it into his mouth in a few bites.
He left the classroom in full view of everyone, and then spat out two frog bones towards the armored guard standing at the door.
"I really don't know if this is lucky or unlucky," Harry sighed as he watched the scene, but as he said sigh, he was also a little envious.
"How about we do something funny and get Snape to kick us out?" Harry whispered.
“If you’re going to do that, I certainly won’t let you have your way. On the contrary, I might put you two in solitary confinement? I suppose you’d be happy to come to my office to deal with leeches, if your brains, which are barely bigger than walnuts, are big enough for you to use knives.” Snape appeared behind them like a ghost at some point.
With Snape deducting another five points from Gryffindor, Hermione completely lost all her strength and ability.
She looked helplessly at the empty crucible in front of her, which was cleaner than a lick of the tongue.
It's probably too late to re-refine the potion now, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Sure enough, just before get out of class ended, Hermione experienced a strange and somewhat subtle feeling called "points deduction".
After class, Harry and Ron found Kane squatting by the classroom door, looking dejected.
The three of them were silent for a moment, until Hermione finally broke the silence by walking over: "So, is it some kind of special magic or bloodline?"
"Hmm, an essential skill for a head chef in the Eternal Realm." Kane casually remarked, with the attitude that since they wouldn't understand anyway, he might as well just say whatever came to mind as if he were crazy.
"Alright, it seems you don't want to talk about it... My lesson has come to a memorable and abstract end..." Hermione ultimately didn't blame Kane, after all, it was his own fault.
Everyone says you shouldn't be greedy when others are fearful, and she didn't realize this golden advice today. Her two good Kane brothers, Harry and Ron, didn't sit with her; instead, she went to join in the fun. The difference between her and courting death is no more than two strokes.
Just as Kane was feeling down, a not-so-suppressed laugh came from not far away.
Kane looked over and saw a very familiar Slytherin boy who was looking at him and laughing uncontrollably.
"Sir, I remember you were almost wet in the foyer just two days ago, weren't you? How can you be so forgetful?"
Paulanera stopped laughing and slowly walked over: "Before, it was because I wasn't skilled enough, but now I've checked the information. Your shadow is just the residual magic of a junior wizard's magical outburst. As long as the junior wizard receives more than five spell training spells, the residual magic outburst will disappear. I also asked my father to investigate your background. Without that residual outburst, you're just a Mudblood now. And speaking of forgetfulness? Kanehis, you can't even remember my name. You're the one who's forgetful!"
“Actually, I didn’t remember it at all.” Kane sighed helplessly, took out the note Professor Quirrell had given him from his pocket, read a couple of sentences, and then immediately started his attack with zero frames. He swung his wand from bottom to top, and a crystal blue light rushed directly towards Paul Anreira.
The people in the corridor only felt something flash by, and when they looked again, they saw that Pol Anreira had been slammed against the wall by the repulsion spell.
In that instant, Paul Anreira felt that she had been careless and hadn't used Flash. She should have learned more spells and prepared herself before coming. Fortunately, Kane was only slightly stronger than her at the moment.
As long as I go back and diligently study magic spells, prepare troops and train horses to await the opportune moment...?
Anreira was halfway through training his troops and horses when he suddenly didn't know how to continue. He saw Kane's shadow on the wall, which had somehow crept up in front of him.
"What did you just say? What residual magic surge?" Kane continued to threaten silently, trying to scare Anreira into breaking down completely so she wouldn't bother him anymore.
Probably.
At this moment, the shock that Boroyanra felt upon seeing Kane still wielding that eerie shadow was no less than the shock Xiaoming felt when searching for elementary school essays online and the browser replied that Abin's high school grades were not ideal—this level of shock was simply incredible.
"I remember this guy got hurt by Kane on the day we enrolled. Why is he stupidly coming to cause trouble again?" Harry asked Ron, frowning in confusion but also deeply shocked.
“Pure-blood families, you know, inbreeding, and they keep breeding until they become stupid. So look at those Slytherins over there, they’re all weird-looking. Not one of them looks human. Only Malfoy is decent-looking.” Ron said without any hesitation, as if he wanted to strip the pure-bloods bare.
Malfoy, who seemed to have been watching the commotion in the corridor, was suddenly overheard Ron's comments about him...
Okay, he admits, Weasley must have brushed his teeth this morning, because he spoke unusually well.
Unlike Harlow and Kane, who were trying to improve the average IQ of Slytherin, Kane was laying a solid foundation for his future peaceful life.
For example, you could scare the person so they'll never dare to bother you again about something that upsets you.
As Boulanreira watched Kane approach, he instinctively called out to one of the most reliable and capable figures in their pureblood circle.
"Malfoy, save me!"
Chapter Thirty-Six: Alchemy Engine
"Malfoy, save me!"
As Paulanerella cried out, Malfoy, who was watching from the sidelines, suddenly shuddered.
He knew that staying in this place would lead to nothing but trouble. On one side was Kane, whose father had instructed him to befriend him, and on the other side was his identity as the eldest Slytherin.
As the youngest Slytherin with the best family background, the greatest talent, and the most human-like appearance, he naturally became the leader of this generation of Slytherins. Now that his younger brother had been attacked, if he, as the leader, didn't stand up for him, he probably wouldn't be able to continue being the leader.
However, if he chose to reprimand Paul Anreira for the sake of Kane and the others' friendship, the consequences would be even more serious. It would be like the younger brother eating the spoon for the older brother, but the older brother felt that the younger brother was not satisfied with eating the spoon, so he gave him a bowl instead.
If that's the case, let alone whether he can become the eldest brother, it's questionable whether he can even maintain his position in Slytherin.
"Ugh, I really don't want to take on this responsibility." Draco Malfoy muttered to himself in a voice only he could hear as he stood in front of Paulanera.
“Kane, Paul is my friend, and I hope you can give me some face,” Draco Malfoy said, using his face-saving ability, which could be considered a firm statement.
"Just make him promise not to have any contact with me again and to avoid me as much as possible." Kane didn't make any unreasonable demands, after all, all he really needed was a peaceful and stable life at Hogwarts.
Draco turned to look at Paul: "Can you do it?"
Paulanerella immediately nodded like a chick pecking at rice: "Of course! Of course!"
“And another thing,” Kane suddenly remembered something, “Mr. Enrella, how many Galleons do you have in your pocket right now?”
Polporella felt a sudden tightness in his wallet: "What are you trying to do? Malfoy, you have to help me! If this money gets stolen, you can forget about me calling you 'big brother' again!"
Draco fell silent. This was another dilemma. If he asked Paulanerella to pay, his own position would be in jeopardy. But if he helped pay, that wouldn't be the right thing to do either.
He could treat Kane to food and drinks for the sake of friendship, but in the current situation, giving Kane the money would be a complete surrender.
"Kane, didn't I tell you to give me some face?" Malfoy's voice slowly turned serious.
"Otherwise, why do you think I'm negotiating with him here? We were friends on the train, so I have no reason to target you. Just move aside," Kane said calmly.
Before enrolling, I built a scientific machine, but it could only perform tasks within the Eternal Realm. If I wanted to use Eternal Realm magic, I would have to continue advancing my tech tree and build an alchemy engine, which still required gold as a raw material...
It's quite a coincidence that the demand was made and then Mr. Paulanerella appeared right in front of us. Isn't he just a god of wealth?
After a moment's thought, Draco decided which side he should stand on.
Kane's friendship with the Anreira family, a family with whom the Malfoys have been close friends since the 17th century, is more important than that of a completely unrelated family.
“Of course not.” Draco Malfoy pulled out his wand. He wasn’t a fool like Paul; he couldn’t be easily shoved against the wall by Kane.
Kane raised an eyebrow, and without the slightest hesitation, flicked his wand, sending out a blue beam that slammed Draco Malfoy against the wall.
Magic is so amazing; it can always turn the impossible into the possible.
The instant Kane made his move, Harry and Ron followed suit, their wands already in their hands.
On the other hand, Malfoy's two henchmen, Goyle and Crabbe, clearly lacked that kind of reaction ability.
Right before everyone's eyes, Kane stole nearly fifty Galleons from Paul Anreira's body.
Of course, Draco... spared his life because he treated him to Willy Wonka chocolates on the train.
After Kane and the others picked up the Galleons and left, Snape finally came out of the classroom and saw the mess in the corridor.
