Sagres continued down the stone steps, the faint glow of his wand tip flickering in the narrow passage.
The air here is thick with the smell of dust, and every step you take leaves a clear footprint in the thick layer of ash.
The tomb was more spacious than expected, but it had clearly been abandoned for many years.
Spiderwebs hung from the ceiling like tattered veils, and the marks on the walls, though clear, had been worn smooth by time.
Sure enough, there was a stone coffin in the center of the tomb—exactly the same one he would see in the future, but the lid was open and it was leaning against the stone coffin.
Out of caution, Sagres approached slowly, his wand remaining constantly on guard.
When he peered into the stone coffin, he was caught off guard and met a pair of wide-open eyes.
A twisted creature lay inside the stone coffin.
Its skin was grayish-white and covered with rough stitches, and its four arms were crossed at an unnatural angle in front of its chest.
What was most disturbing was its head—it had no mouth or nose, only a pair of excessively large, glass-bead-like eyes, which were staring straight at him.
After a moment of surprise, Sagrais keenly sensed the malice that flashed in those eyes.
The mind-controlling technique was activated instantly, but it was like hitting a rock—not because the opponent's defense was too strong, but because the opponent simply didn't have a soul.
Just as that flesh-and-blood creation attempted to erupt, Sargeras' wand drew a sharp arc in the air.
A precise slicing spell swept across, and the monster's head fell to the ground, rolling a few times at the bottom of the stone coffin.
No blood gushed from the severed neck; only a small amount of dark brown, viscous liquid slowly seeped out.
Sagres remained expressionless and began to carefully search the entire tomb.
He used his wand to illuminate the area with even greater light, carefully examining every corner and tapping on every stone slab, but found nothing more.
Returning to the stone coffin, he bent down to examine the dismembered creature closely.
Under the bright light, he could clearly see the rough stitches and the traces of skin of different colors being forcibly pieced together.
The muscle tissue in certain areas is abnormally developed, clearly due to magical enhancement.
“Clumsy flesh magic,” Sagras said softly, gently nudging the remains of the corpse with his wand. “Looks like an experiment by some dark wizard.”
Judging from the construction method, the creator's skills are quite rudimentary, more like a wizard who has just stepped into the forbidden realm and is blindly trying things out.
The materials used in its creation were very ordinary, consisting of common biological tissues, without any precious or rare magical materials.
Sagres straightened up and looked around the dusty tomb.
Aside from this failed creation of flesh and blood, there are no other valuable clues here.
"So close to the church..." he murmured thoughtfully, "Could it be that the church is trying to create so-called 'angels'?"
He shook his head, stopping his wild thoughts.
Sagres waved his wand, and the heavy coffin lid leaning against him slowly moved, resealing the sarcophagus.
But just as he turned to leave, Sagres's rebellious nature suddenly began to grow wildly.
More than 500 years later, when he opened the coffin lid, the body was lying in the stone coffin.
So... could it be that his current actions are unintentionally completing the trajectory of history?
No!
Since his actions would have no impact on the future, he deliberately went against the grain in these insignificant details.
This could barely be considered his weak resistance to the inevitability of history!
The wand was waved again, and the closed coffin lid was flung open.
A cluster of pale, fierce flames erupted from the tip of his staff, instantly engulfing the creation within the stone coffin.
The flames danced merrily, instantly burning the twisted flesh and blood to ashes, along with the rough stitches, until it vanished completely from the world.
Sagres nodded in satisfaction and turned to leave.
Chapter 384 Ministry of Magic Announcement
When Sagres returned to his office at Hogwarts Castle, he had already made his decision.
He needed to lie low in this chaotic era for a while, and Hogwarts was an ideal hiding place.
However, the appearance of an unfamiliar face in the castle during such a sensitive period is bound to attract unnecessary attention.
Thinking of this, his gaze fell on the drawer that had been enchanted with the Unseen Stretching Charm, where Professor Elliott Samdron was fast asleep.
“Since Barty Crouch Jr. was able to impersonate Moody with Polyjuice Potion for so long…” Sagres muttered to himself, his wand pressed against his temple, “then I can do something similar.”
He closed his eyes, carefully recalling every detail he had gleaned from Samdron's mind: his slightly graying sideburns, the faint scar on his right eyebrow from a childhood scratch by a twig, and the habitual furrowing of his brow when he spoke.
The tip of his wand gleamed silver, his bones began to creak softly, and his face was reshaped like a melting wax figure.
A moment later, the mirror reflected Professor Samdron's weathered face.
Sagres tried to move his facial muscles, revealing a slightly worried expression that suited his persona—perfect.
In the days that followed, Sagres led a double life.
By day, he is Elrit Samdron, a cautious professor of Charms, dressed in slightly worn wizard robes, teaching students in all four houses on time, and politely conversing with his colleagues at the faculty dining table.
He skillfully used the technique of capturing the thoughts and feelings of those around him to obtain snippets of conversation, constantly refining his disguise.
“Professor Samdron, your explanation of the levitation spell today was exceptionally clear,” a Ravenclaw girl said to him after class.
“Thank you for the compliment, Myrlisson.” Sagrais pronounced her name correctly, giving a shy smile befitting Samdron’s personality.
Another Gryffindor boy joined in, excitedly saying, "Professor, I used to always get confused about the coordination of hand gestures and pronunciation for spells, but the trick you demonstrated yesterday—'a slight wrist rotation while clearly enunciating'—made me master the Softening Charm instantly!"
Sagles nodded slightly and replied in a gentle tone, "I'm glad to hear you say that, Krot, I'm very pleased."
“Professor…” another student quickly interjected, “I feel that what you’ve been teaching lately… is particularly practical, unlike before, when it was always…”
Sagles simply adjusted his glasses and said modestly, "Perhaps the recent situation has made me realize that students need to master some practical skills so that they can better protect themselves."
At the same time, he couldn't help but think to himself: Of course you'll find it useful, because many of the things I talk about are ideas that are ahead of their time.
Teaching in a way that is completely in line with the context of this era is quite a challenge for him.
Every night, Sagres would study some of the magical tomes of this era in his office, not in search of a way back, but purely out of interest.
He kept the real Samdron in a drawer that had been enchanted with a Stretch-Unmarking Charm, and would regularly feed him nutrient potions and stun spells.
One evening, Professor Martha Kelly, the Transfiguration professor, called out to him in the corridor: "Ellitt, I heard you went to check the castle's protective spells a few days ago? Did you find anything?"
Sagres found no recollection of the relevant events in Samdron's memory, but his expression remained unchanged, displaying a worried look: "Still under investigation, Martha. Is the school really going to be closed?"
Professor Kelly nodded helplessly, lowering her voice: "The headmaster plans to discuss temporarily closing the school at next week's faculty meeting. You know, if the witch hunt continues to spread..."
“But sending students back home won’t make them safer,” Sagles said, feigning regret. “On the contrary, it will make their situation even more dangerous.”
“We all know that, but judging by the time, that giant tribe in the Forbidden Forest is about to attack the castle again…”
"Don't worry, we will definitely find a solution."
"I hope so."
……
Watching the other person's departing figure, Sagres fell into deep thought.
That night, he reconnected with Loctis's vision.
Through the raven's eyes, he saw that Hogwarts five hundred years later was already in turmoil.
Several familiar figures gathered in his office—Dumbledore, McGonagall, and several Ministry of Magic officials, all frowning and talking with varying expressions.
“Sagles has never missed a class,” Professor McGonagall said with a frown and concern. “Even when he had a bad cold last year, he still insisted on attending class.”
“I knocked on his office door this morning, but no one answered. It was only eight o’clock then.”
Dumbledore stood in front of the desk, his sharp gaze sweeping over the various items on it.
He gently picked up the hourglass on the table and examined it carefully.
“Minerva, Severus,” he said softly, “have you heard of any magical accidents involving time travel?”
Snape's lips twitched slightly: "You believe that Sagres is making a similar dangerous attempt?"
“This hourglass is in a very unusual state,” Dumbledore said, turning the object in his hand. “The sand inside is completely still. As far as I know, this only happens when time magic is severely disrupted.”
"A time converter?!"
A Ministry of Magic official standing nearby stared in surprise at the hourglass in Dumbledore's hand, while rapidly scribbling notes on parchment with a quill.
……
A few days later, the Ministry of Magic published an official announcement in the latest issue of the Daily Prophet:
Sagres Greengrass – Hero or Criminal?
Hermione snatched a newspaper from a young wizard and read its contents aloud in a trembling voice:
"The Ministry of Magic has issued an arrest warrant for former Hogwarts professor Sagrais Greengrass, effective today. According to Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge, Greengrass is suspected of multiple serious crimes..."
Ron's spoon clattered into the bowl: "Are they crazy? How dare they? The professor just defeated Mystic!"
Harry quickly scanned the list of crimes in the newspaper:
o Suspected of threatening senior officials of the Ministry of Magic
• Suspected of murdering Barty Crouch Sr., a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Magic
• Suspected of killing Azkaban Dementors (number unknown)
• Suspected of using vigilante justice against the suspect
• Suspected of illegally using a time converter for time travel
• Suspected of using ancient war magic that is explicitly prohibited by the International Federation of Wizards
• Refusal to cooperate with the Ministry of Magic's investigation
“They didn’t even mention that he saved Harry!” Seamus Finnigan said indignantly from the next table.
Draco Malfoy's cold laugh echoed from the Slytherin table: "What a bunch of fools!"
