Just as the four were looking at each other in bewilderment, the memory projection spoke again:
Avada Kedavra!
A blinding green light burst forth without warning, instantly striking Percy, who was still trying to comprehend the situation.
He didn't even have time to raise his wand.
The attack came very suddenly. While the others were still stunned, a white light appeared and enveloped Percy in the blink of an eye, pulling him away from his original spot.
"Crushed to pieces!"
Another swift red beam shot over, its target the Hufflepuff.
There was no warning, no salute, and no clearly marked incantation.
All they did was launch a purely despicable sneak attack!
"Armor protects you!"
The seventh-year Ravenclaw, who was in charge, reacted very quickly. A shield of light from the Ironclad Charm flashed in front of him, but the target of the Mirror Image Dark Wizard's spell was not him.
Another flash of white light, and Hufflepuff disappeared again.
The remaining two let out short screams.
"Don't just stand there! Do what the professor said! Move!"
The only girl in the group was the first to recover from the shock. She rolled to the side to dodge another whistling beam of cursed light, and at the same time raised her hand to counterattack: "Faint!"
Only then did the battle unfold in the ugliest way.
The Mirror Dark Wizard's attacks were chaotic yet exceptionally vicious, effortlessly unleashing Killing Curses, Crucifixion Curses, and Explosion Curses. He even attempted to use Polymorph to transform the sewage on the ground into venomous snakes that coiled around their ankles.
At the same time, foul language and vulgar taunts kept pouring out of his mouth, trying to distract the two students.
This is completely different from any duel or dungeon challenge that students have ever experienced.
There are no puzzles here, no fixed patterns, only a single enemy with a clear objective, dirty methods, and a desperate desire to "kill" them.
Despite knowing it was fake, the shrill sound of the spell cutting through the air, the debris exploding when it hit an obstacle, and the emotionless cruelty in the mirrored eyes all brought them immense psychological pressure.
The remaining boys, in their panic, were a beat too slow with their Ironclad Spells and were grazed by a "Splitter" attack.
The simulated excruciating pain made him scream, and he almost dropped his wand.
"Haha! You two little brats who only know how to hide, go to hell and join your companions!"
The Mirror Dark Wizard's repertoire of trash talk is somewhat limited, at least in Sargeras's view, there is still a lot of room for adjustment, but that's alright, it can be adjusted later according to the actual situation.
"Hold your ground! Attack together!"
The girl became the temporary commander. She used several "obstacles" to restrict the mirror's movement and kept letting her only teammate take the opportunity to attack.
Finally, after several clumsy dodges and scattered counterattacks, a stun spell finally hit its target.
The distorted image of memory dissipated in the cold rain.
The battle is over.
The two survivors collapsed onto the cold, wet ground, breathing heavily. Their robes were soaked through with cold sweat and rain, and their faces showed signs of shock.
Although we won, there was no joy of victory, only a sense of bewilderment as if we had survived a catastrophe.
The simulated raindrops in the sky disappeared instantly, and the two men's robes became dry again.
Sagres appeared silently at the edge of the ring.
"How do you feel?" His voice was devoid of any emotion.
“…Completely different.” The girl wiped the water off her face, her voice still slightly breathless. “He…does nothing like the rules, much harder to deal with than a troll.”
“Trolls only act on instinct, but he,” Sagrais’s gaze swept over the few terrified students, “enjoys your fear and will exploit it. Remember this feeling, because it is likely something you will have to face in the future.”
The news spread quickly.
The experience of the four-person team made all the students realize the terrifying nature of this so-called "real combat exercise".
Harry, Ron, and Hermione were having a heated discussion by the fireplace in the common room.
“We have to give it a try,” Harry said firmly, his eyes burning with determination. “The younger students can participate. I heard that even Ginny and Luna, and that girl named Astoria, have gone…”
“But Harry,” Ron said, his face paling, “this doesn’t sound good, because everyone who participated has refused to talk about this so-called ‘memory mirror’…”
"That's why we should go and see!"
Hermione closed the book "Introduction to Magic" in her hands, her expression serious. "If we encounter something real next time, at least we won't end up like... what happened to my senior..."
These words were like a bucket of cold water, instantly extinguishing Ron's objections, and he immediately fell silent.
On the other side, Malfoy, unusually relaxed, leaned back on the sofa in the common room and raised his eyebrows at the burly Goyle.
"If they can handle it, I'm sure I can do it even better."
He spoke with an eager look on his face.
“But we haven’t even managed to explore the magical ruins yet,” Gore said in a muffled voice. “Nobody wants to team up with us.”
“Nobody wants to? Then go find Potter and Weasley,” Malfoy said nonchalantly. “It would be best to add Granger as well, making it five people.”
“Porter? Why?” Goyle was taken aback. “They would agree?”
"Why not?" Malfoy sat up straight and said matter-of-factly, "Didn't I save him on the Quidditch pitch last time? Doesn't that deserve a little... interest? It's called venture capital, you know? Muggle word."
Gore struggled to process the word, his face contorted in a grimace: "What you call... what you call... repaying kindness with enmity!"
"Tit for kindness?" Malfoy was taken aback, then frowned and tentatively replied, "You mean to say you're taking advantage of someone's kindness?"
"Yes, that's the word."
“Ha, you’re right!” Malfoy snapped his fingers, quite self-righteously. “I’m just taking advantage of his kindness. He owes me this, so what’s the problem?”
Chapter 245 Copyright Issues
Hogwarts has undergone some changes without anyone noticing.
During Charms class, Professor Flitwick was surprised to find that more and more students were eagerly asking how to quickly and continuously cast the Ironclad Charm to defend against attacks from different directions.
Some students even obtained unprecedented magic from the "Exchange Catalog" and pestered him for guidance.
“Professor Flitwick,” a Ravenclaw girl raised her hand and asked, “if the opponent doesn’t even chant a spell and attacks us with a silent charm, how should we anticipate and defend against it?”
During herbalism class, Professor Sprout noticed a sudden surge of interest among the students in the poisonous tentacles and devil's web, and their questions became more practical: "What antidote works fastest after being scratched by their thorns?"
"If the Flame Burst isn't used properly, can I escape using the Cutting Charm? Or might it just provoke them instead?"
Even in Professor Binns's history of magic class, whispers began to circulate as students discussed whether the tricks of famous dark wizards in history were exactly the same as those they encountered in the "memory projection."
This shift left the professors with mixed feelings.
On the one hand, the students' enthusiasm for learning is unprecedented; on the other hand, the real reasons behind this thirst for knowledge make them feel heavy-hearted.
A few days later, at a corner of a corridor, the diminutive Professor Flitwick precisely "blocked" Sagles, who was on his way to the classroom.
"Sagres!"
"I have to ask you! How exactly did you create that 'memory projection' that the students have been talking about lately?" Flitwick exclaimed, his voice filled with surprise.
Sagres stopped in his tracks, looking down at the excited Charms professor, his tone perfectly calm: "A small application similar to the Pensieve principle and advanced magical shaping. It's designed to simulate some... real-world crisis scenarios, to prevent our students from being easily taken down like goblins in the future."
"The real crisis..."
Flitwick repeated, his eyes gleaming with astonishment, "Brilliant! This idea is brilliant! Much better than just pretending to move! It can perfectly recreate the opponent from memory?"
“It can only be based on my understanding, but it’s true enough,” Sagres confirmed succinctly.
"What a brilliant idea!"
Flitwick was so excited he almost jumped up. "You have to tell me in detail! After class! Yes, come to the faculty lounge after class! You absolutely have to! I bet I'm not the only one interested!"
Before Sagres could answer, the short professor rubbed his hands excitedly and practically skipped away, muttering something under his breath.
After the day's classes ended, Sagres opened the door to the faculty lounge as promised.
There were quite a few people inside.
Not only was Professor Flitwick present, but Professor McGonagall, Professor Sprout, Professor Snape, and even Professor Lupin, who usually didn't care much about these things, and Professor Binns were also unusually present...
All eyes instantly turned to him.
“Sagres, come in quickly!” Professor Sprout beckoned gently. “Felius told us about that magical artifact that can conjure up dark wizards fighting with students?”
“It’s a memory projection, Pomona,” Frivi corrected, then turned urgently to Sagles. “Quick, tell us, how exactly does it work?”
Sagres walked to the center of the room and succinctly explained the principle, omitting some of the more complicated details, but clearly stating the core function: extracting memories and constructing a magical mirror image with the original owner's fighting style and thought patterns.
“A work extracted from memory, Merlin…” Professor Sprout covered his mouth. “This method is unheard of. Can you create more different characters? I mean… not just dark wizards?”
“In theory, any object with clear memories can be projected,” Sagrais said calmly. “Whether it’s a dark wizard or any of you here. Of course, the prerequisite is that they must be wizards or humanoid beings.”
This statement caused a brief silence in the lounge, which was then followed by an even louder murmur of discussion.
“Us?” Flitwick’s eyes widened even more. “You mean, we can also create projections of ourselves?”
“Of course, but only based on my understanding,” Sagres said confidently. “Actually, I was just about to talk to you about this issue. It can be used as a challenging goal for students, or as a ‘mentor’ to provide assistance in specific situations. For example, a projection of Professor Flitwick who is proficient in various spells, or a projection of Professor McGonagall who is an expert in transfiguration offense and defense.”
Imagine that scene; the professors were all somewhat excited and thrilled.
This means that their knowledge and fighting methods can be passed down in another form, and most importantly, they can even instruct multiple students at the same time.
"That's a great idea!" Flitwick was the first to jump up in agreement. "I completely agree! You can consider me, and show those brats what a real master of spells looks like!"
“Mine would work too,” Professor Sprout said thoughtfully. “Perhaps we could set up a special greenhouse to protect the plants and deal with dangerous ones?”
Even the ghostly Professor Binns couldn't help but float forward: "What about me? Can I do it too?"
Sagres looked at Professor Binns' ghostly form and hesitated for a moment before tentatively saying, "Combat personnel might not be suitable, but perhaps we could add your projection to some instances as an NPC?"
"What is an NPC?" Professor Binns asked, looking completely bewildered.
“You can think of it simply as a guide,” Sagres replied. “Your historical knowledge will come in handy in some of the decrypted copies.”
“But they’re not very willing to listen to my lectures,” Professor Binns said, puzzled. “Would they be willing to listen if we changed the venue?”
“Of course,” Sagles said with great certainty, “you can even deliberately avoid important points of knowledge.”
