Hermione's face turned deathly pale, and she abruptly covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming.
Her mind raced: a fake death? A conspiracy? Or... was the map wrong? But the names of Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Filch on the map were all clearly visible.
But Professor Greengrass did indeed kill him in full view of everyone.
“Lochtis has been looking for something in the castle recently…” Professor Sagles’ calm words suddenly exploded in her mind.
Could it be... that he's looking for... him—Sirius Black?! He knew all along that he wasn't dead?!
P.S. The names of the raiders will be displayed on the map, regardless of whether they are in Animagus form. In the original story, Lupin went to the Willow Passage after seeing the names of Sirius and Pettigrew; at that time, both of them were in Animagus form.
In addition, the use of compound decoctions and invisibility cloaks will also display real names on the map.
I don't want to explain them one by one; some comments have already included the original text.
Chapter 224 Ron's Defenses Are Broken
"Where is Professor Greengrass now?" Hermione forced herself to remain calm, but her voice trembled. She quickly searched the map.
"Near...near the greenhouse!"
Ron pointed to the location of the Herbology Greenhouse, where a dot marked "Sagres Greengrass" was moving.
“We have to find the professor,” Hermione shouted immediately, her voice shrill with fear. “Go tell him Black is in the castle, in Professor Lupin’s room, right now.”
“Hermione’s right,” Ron immediately agreed. “We have to tell the adults!”
Although Harry wanted to rush over and see the truth immediately, his remaining rationality held back his impulse.
Just as the five heads huddled together, anxiously trying to pinpoint Sagrais's location on the map, Hermione's keen eye caught a tiny ink dot on the map.
Not far above the corridor they were in, there was a sign that read:
Lochteis
“Wait! Lochteus?” Hermione looked up sharply, following the direction indicated on the map towards the high stone vaulted ceiling of the corridor.
The others also subconsciously looked up in the direction of her gaze.
In the shadow of the towering gargoyle decorations on one side of the corridor, Professor Greengrass's raven stood quietly.
Its dark eyes were fixed intently on the group and the open Marauder's Map in their hands.
"Merlin's stinky socks!" Fred and George both let out a shrill scream at the same time, their faces instantly falling as if the end of the world had come.
"It's over! It's all over! It saw it! It must have seen it! The map is going to be confiscated!"
"Prank over!"
Just as the twins were wailing, Lochtis, high above, tilted his head slightly and made a soft "click" sound, as if it were some kind of signal.
The next moment, just a few steps in front of the five people, the air distorted and rippled silently like water.
Immediately afterwards, Sagres's figure materialized from thin air and stood before them.
He first glanced at Fred and George, who were terrified and trying to hide the map behind their backs, then focused his gaze precisely on the Marauder's Map that had been hastily put away.
"Professor, Sirius Black is at Hogwarts. He's in Professor Lupin's office right now," Hermione reported to Sagrais immediately.
But they found that Sagles did not seem surprised when he heard the news.
Loktis gently flapped its wings high above and silently landed on Sagrais's shoulder, its black eyes still watching them.
“Yes, it seems you’ve discovered some problems,” Sagrais said calmly, extending his palm to the crowd.
Fred and George, with long faces, handed the parchment in their hands to Sagles' outstretched hand.
Sagres's long, slender fingers traced the worn edges and blank surface of the map, and a glimmer seemed to flash in his calm gray eyes.
He didn't activate it immediately, but first glanced at the five nervous students in front of him.
“A magnificent magical artifact,” his voice was deep and steady, “a magical item that can spy on other people’s privacy and whereabouts.”
His gaze lingered on Fred and George's faces for a moment; the two lowered their heads, but their eyes remained filled with worry about the fate of the map.
Sagres's gaze returned to the map.
Instead of reciting the spell like George did, he took out his wand and tapped it steadily on the parchment.
"Hidden yet revealed!"
Several seconds passed before the parchment was awakened by the frenzied magic, and the familiar ink lines, names, and moving footprints reappeared, as if they had been given life.
His deep gray eyes swept quickly across the map, pinpointing the location of Professor Lupin's office precisely—the ink dot marked "Sirius Black" was still clearly visible.
His face showed no surprise, only a knowing "I knew it" attitude.
“There’s no need to hide it any longer.” Sagres raised his head and calmly looked at the young wizards. “Come with me.”
Without further ado, Sagres turned and strode toward the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's office.
The Loctis on my shoulder flew up silently and quickly disappeared into the depths of the corridor—it went to inform the principal and the other professors.
The five looked at each other, puzzled, and followed Sagres without hesitation.
When they arrived at Professor Lupin's office, the door was closed.
Sagres knocked on the door, then pushed it open and went inside.
The office was dimly lit and filled with a faint scent of herbs and old books.
Lupin looked at the students behind Sagles with a hint of confusion, then turned to the large black dog lying quietly in front of the fireplace.
His eyes flickered slightly, as if he understood something.
“Change back, Blake,” Sagrais said to the big black dog. “They all know.”
And so, to the horror of the young wizards, the somewhat familiar big black dog began to change shape, eventually transforming into the figure that had barged into the Great Hall a few days earlier.
He still looked haggard, but the madness and despair in his eyes were gone, replaced by a complex emotion mixed with tension and anticipation.
Black instinctively tensed up, his grey eyes fixed on Harry's face, as if trying to draw strength from the face that resembled James's.
Harry stopped abruptly, his breath catching in his throat.
Looking at this legendary traitor, he felt an indescribable surge of anger and pain in his chest.
Sagrais's words echoed in his mind: "There's no need to hide it any longer..."
So is there another hidden story?
……
Blake's voice was dry and hoarse as he recounted the buried truth once again.
Seeing his increasingly bitter face, the young wizards' expressions shifted, a mixture of shock, doubt, and sympathy, appearing particularly complex in the dim light.
However, the most vehement reaction came not from Harry, but from Ron.
“You mean…” Ron’s voice seemed to be squeezed out from deep in his throat, “Scars… my Scars… is the one who killed Harry’s parents?”
It was as if he truly understood the meaning of the accusation for the first time.
“That’s right, your pet mouse ‘Spot’ that you’ve kept for years is actually Peter Pettigrew.”
"Do not--!"
Ron recoiled as if struck by a red-hot iron, taking a large step back. "Impossible! Scabbers... it's just a mouse, an ordinary mouse! It can't be an Animagus..."
Sagrais looked at Ron with a hint of pity in his eyes: "Ordinary rats don't live more than ten years, Mr. Weasley."
“And do you remember its front paws?” Blake added.
"A finger is missing..."
“Peter Pettigrew was blown to pieces by Black, leaving only one finger,” Harry murmured.
While everyone remained silent, the Weasley twins exchanged a glance and cautiously asked, "Um... Ron, isn't 'Peter Pediru' the new name you secretly gave your mouse?"
"What?" Ron looked up, his face blank and surprised. "Of course not, why would I name it that? It's called Spotty!"
"Uh..." Gemini hesitated, wanting to say something but then stopped.
"What exactly are you trying to say?" Ron was baffled and even a little annoyed by their sudden question.
“Peter Petelou has been with you ever since the day you enrolled…” Fred’s voice trailed off.
“He’s been sleeping in your bed for almost two years now…” George added with difficulty.
“We always thought…” The rest of their words caught in their throats.
The last trace of color drained from Ron's face. He stood frozen in place, his lips trembling, but he couldn't utter a sound.
"You all knew all along?" Ron asked incredulously, "but you never told me?"
Chapter 225 Peter Pettigrew
"So his 'death' was just an elaborate hoax? The purpose was simply to lure out the real traitor—Peter Pettigrew?"
Hermione pointed to Sirius Black, who was standing emaciated in front of the fireplace, and asked.
"Yes."
Harry looked up, his gaze complex as he looked at the haggard man, whose eyes were filled with pain, hope, and an almost humble plea.
The immense shock left Harry's mind in chaos, a jumble of complex emotions swirling within him.
The person who betrayed their parents was someone else, and the man in front of them, who had been imprisoned for twelve years... was innocent?
Just then, Dumbledore and the other professors rushed over.
Snape glanced at everyone present, his gaze lingering on Black for a moment, his disgust almost tangible.
He asked bluntly, "What do you want with us, Sagres?"
“Of course,” Sagres said, showing the Marauder’s Map to everyone. “I found this.”
The moment Lupin and Black saw the parchment, they both raised their eyebrows and exchanged a complex look—they recognized the old object.
Sagrass spread out the Marauder's Map completely in front of everyone.
