Senior Sister Nuonuo? Doesn't seem like it. Chu Zihang? Although he's very strong, he should be human. Fingel? If that good-for-nothing were the Dragon King, Lu Mingfei could take on Odin one-on-one.

Who was that? Some inconspicuous classmate? A teacher? Or even... the principal?!

Lu Mingfei felt a chill run down his spine, and his back was soaked with cold sweat.

It took him a long time to process this shocking secret before he could barely find his voice. He decided to change to a slightly lighter topic to ease the shock in his heart.

His gaze drifted to the dark blue, rock-like scales on Fenrir's body, and he remembered those madmen in the Equipment Department boasting that their weapons could slay dragons.

"Um, Brother Dragon King," Lu Mingfei rubbed his hands together, forcing a fawning smile, "Your scales look really cool! They must be really hard, right? Can I touch them? Just a light touch!" he quickly added.

Fenrir found the request amusing. It growled softly and generously extended the tip of one of its front paws slightly forward, offering it to Lu Mingfei. That paw tip was thicker than Lu Mingfei himself, and each scale on it was the size of a shield.

“Yes, you can,” it said vaguely.

Lu Mingfei cautiously reached out and touched the cold scales. The texture was extremely hard and smooth, as if he were touching the hardest alloy, yet with a rough, rock-like feel.

"Wow, it's really hard," he exclaimed, and then a suicidal thought popped into his head uncontrollably.

He recalled the long sword that the equipment department had issued to him, which was said to be mixed with god-slaying metal and could cut hair with a single blow.

"Brother, may I lightly touch it with my knife to test it?" Lu Mingfei's voice became even more obsequious, his heart racing. "Just a touch! Absolutely no force! I just want to know how it compares to our weapons."

He was terrified that the other person would feel offended and slap him to death.

However, Fenrir simply blinked his huge eyes, with a hint of boastfulness, and readily agreed: "Okay."

Lu Mingfei breathed a sigh of relief and quickly drew the specially made longsword from the scabbard on his back. The blade was long and narrow, and it did look quite intimidating.

He took a deep breath, gripped the knife with both hands, and carefully poked the smallest scale on Fenrir's claw with the tip of the knife.

clang!

The blade tip seemed to have struck the hardest alloy in the world, bouncing off without leaving a single white spot on the scales.

Lu Mingfei's arm went numb from the shock.

"Uh." He refused to believe it and used three-tenths of his strength to poke it again!

clang!

The sound grew louder, yet the scales remained unharmed.

Lu Mingfei got excited. He took a step back, gripped the hilt of the knife tightly with both hands, and with all his might, he shouted and thrust it fiercely at the scale.

Clang!

A piercing crash rang out, and sparks flew everywhere.

Lu Mingfei felt a tremendous force coming from the hilt of the sword, a sharp pain shooting through his hand, and the long sword almost flew out of his grasp. He was jolted back several steps, landing hard on his backside, looking utterly disheveled.

The tip of the "Dragon-Slaying Sword" from the Equipment Department in his hand was slightly chipped!

Looking at Fenrir's scales again, they were still as smooth as new, without even a scratch.

"Pfft." Frilian couldn't help but turn her face away, her shoulders trembling slightly.

Fenrir let out a deep gurgling sound from its throat, like it was laughing. It even deliberately moved the tip of its claw, the scales rubbing together with a clanging sound, as if to say, "See, I'm tough, aren't I?"

Lu Mingfei sat on the ground, looking at the long sword in his hand with its blade chipped, and then at Fenrir's scales, which were comparable to vibranium.

Fortunately, this big guy has a pretty good temper.

Chapter 196 Entering the Dream (Part 1)

While Lu Mingfei was still shocked by the hardness of Fenrir's scales and the dragon king's sister lurking among humans, a resolute and pitying glint flashed in Frilian's emerald eyes.

She sensed the colossal dragon king beside her, as imposing as a mountain, and beneath its immense power lay a childlike innocence and loneliness. Those fragmented memories, that attachment to her younger sister, that simplest curiosity about the outside world—all seemed incongruous with its destructive power.

Well, if you put it that way...

A bold idea took shape in Frilian's mind. She would try to communicate more deeply with this ancient being, in the manner of an elf. Perhaps, she could find a glimmer of hope, or at least gain a deeper understanding of this seemingly terrifying, yet somewhat pitiful, dragon king.

She gently closed her eyes, clasped her hands in front of her chest, and her staff floated before her, emitting a soft and pure green glow. She began to chant softly, not in human language, nor in the ancient dragon script of this world, but in dragon magic closer to the origin of the world, full of natural rhythms.

The voice was as soft as a breeze rustling through the treetops, yet it carried a power that penetrated the soul.

Lu Mingfei looked at Frillie in surprise, about to ask a question, but Frillie stopped him with a look. He immediately shut up and watched nervously.

Fenrir also sensed this gentle fluctuation of power. The enormous head turned, its molten gold pupils gazing curiously at Frilian, who was enveloped in green light. It showed no hostility, but rather seemed drawn to something warm.

Frilian's chanting gradually became ethereal, and her spiritual power, like delicate vines, carefully and gently reached into Fenrir's vast and simple ocean of consciousness.

Dragon language runes flickered in the air, like golden fireflies dancing in the twilight. Frilian stood before Fenrir's massive dragon head, her hand gently stroking his cold scales. Ancient incantations flowed from her lips, each syllable carrying the power accumulated over millennia.

"In the name of the stars, I enter your dreams, see what you think, and relieve your troubles."

The golden light intensified instantly, completely enveloping Frilian and the sleeping dragon.

As the light faded, Frilian found herself standing on a sun-drenched street, surrounded by elementary school students carrying various cartoon backpacks. She looked down at herself and transformed into an elementary school student, wearing a blue school uniform skirt and a name tag pinned to her chest: "Frilian, Grade 3, Class 2".

"Is this Fenrir's inner world?" she murmured to herself, feeling the reality and subtlety of this illusion.

"Frilian! What are you daydreaming about? We're going to be late!"

A familiar yet unfamiliar voice came from behind her. Frillie turned around and saw a dark-haired boy leading a little girl towards her. The boy was about eight or nine years old, with bright eyes and a high nose bridge; although young, his handsome features were already evident. The name tag on his chest read "Fenrir".

The girl being led by Fenrir had two small braids and large, bright eyes that seemed to speak. Her name tag read "Xia Mi".

"Hurry up! The first period today is a math test, and I don't want to be late!" Xia Mi stamped her foot anxiously, pulling her brother with one hand and naturally taking Frilian's hand with the other.

Frillie paused slightly, realizing that in this illusion, she seemed to be the siblings' closest friend. Dragon language magic had not only allowed her to enter Fenrir's consciousness but also constructed a plausible identity for her.

“Let’s go,” Frilian said with a smile, feeling the warmth of Xia Mi’s small hand. She understood that to untangle the knot in Fenrir’s heart, she had to start with this ordinary daily life.

In the classroom of Class 2, Grade 3, sunlight streamed through the glass windows, cutting bright patches of light onto the blackboard. Chalk dust danced in the beams of light as the math teacher explained the multiplication tables.

"Frilian, you answer this: what is seven times eight?"

Frillie, caught off guard by being called upon, paused for a moment. As an elven mage who had lived for a thousand years, she had long forgotten the curriculum of human elementary schools. As she hesitated, a faint prompting sound came from beside her.

“Fifty-six,” Fenrir said, his head bowed and his lips barely moving as he uttered the answer.

“Fifty-six,” Frilian quickly replied.

The teacher nodded in satisfaction. "Very good, sit down now. Listen carefully."

After class, Frilian turned to Fenrir: "Thank you."

Fenrir blushed slightly: "N-nothing. Xia Mi said you took the day off because you had a fever yesterday, so you probably didn't study."

He didn't dare look directly into Frillie's eyes when he spoke, and his fingers were fiddling with the corner of his textbook.

Xiao Xia Mi turned around from the front and said with a grin, "My brother is amazing! He's the best in math in the whole class! It's just that he always misspells words in Chinese."

She nudged Fenrir's shoulder affectionately, and he lowered his head shyly.

Frillie observed the interaction between the brother and sister, finding it difficult to reconcile them with the destructive dragon and the girl accompanying him in reality. In this illusion, they were just ordinary human children, sharing a pure brother-sister bond.

On their way home from school, the three walked side by side. Xia Mi skipped and hopped about the funny things that happened in class, while Fenrir listened quietly, occasionally smiling. Frilian walked on Fenrir's other side and noticed that he always let his sister walk on the inside of the sidewalk while he walked closer to the road.

“Frilian, you seem a little different today,” Fenrir suddenly said.

Frillie was startled: "What's different?"

"I can't quite put my finger on it, but you seem unusually quiet today," Fenrir said, kicking at a pebble on the road. "But it's nice."

Xia Mi leaned closer and said mysteriously, "I know why! Because Frilian likes—"

"Xia Mi!" Fenrir suddenly raised his voice, the tips of his ears turning red. "Don't talk nonsense!"

Xia Mi giggled and ran forward, shouting, "Come and chase me! Only a puppy can catch me!"

The setting sun cast long shadows of the three children, and their laughter filled the road home. Frilian felt this simple, pure joy, a complex emotion welling up within her. As an elf, she rarely had the opportunity to experience the daily lives of human children.

Over the weekend, Frilian was invited to the Fenrir family's house. It was an ordinary two-story house with sunflowers growing in the yard. Xia Mi was waiting at the door early and waved excitedly when she saw Frilian.

"Mom made a strawberry cake! Come in quickly!"

The room was simply furnished, with a delicate strawberry cake on the dining table. Fenrir helped set the table and smiled shyly when he saw Frilian enter.

“Frilian’s here? I often hear the children talk about you.” A gentle woman emerged from the kitchen, wearing an apron with a cat pattern. Frilian realized this was Fenrir and Shami’s mother from the dream.

In the afternoon, the three children played hide-and-seek in the yard. Xia Mi was always the first to be found, pouting angrily. Fenrir was very good at hiding; once, he hid under an old blanket in the garage and no one found him for a full half hour before he finally came out on his own.

"You're amazing!" Xia Mi looked at her brother with admiration. "Teach me!"

Chapter 197 Entering the Dream (Part 2)

Fenrir scratched his head: "Yeah, find a quiet, inconspicuous place, keep quiet, and breathe softly."

As Frilian watched this scene, she suddenly realized that it might be a reflection of Fenrir's true personality—a person who is used to hiding himself, not good at expressing himself, but deep down he longs to be understood and recognized.

After playing for a while, the three of them lay on the lawn in the backyard and watched the clouds.

Xia Mi pointed to the sky: "Look at that cloud, it looks like a big rabbit! And the one next to it looks like a carrot!"

“Where does it resemble him?” Fenrir asked, puzzled.

"It really does look like it! Frillie, don't you think so?"

Frillie smiled and nodded: "It does look somewhat similar."

Fenrir squinted for a long time, then finally gave up: "Fine, whatever you say looks like it."

Xia Mi gave a smug hum and continued searching for clouds of other shapes. Frilian glanced at Fenrir, who was secretly watching his sister, his eyes filled with tender protection.

Fenrir, what a good brother you are.

Frillie almost forgot that this was a magically constructed illusion.

On the day they graduated from elementary school, the three of them took a group photo under the old cherry blossom tree at school. In the photo, Xia Mi smiled brightly, Frilian smiled slightly, and Fenrir stood in the middle, his expression a little stiff but his eyes shining.

"We'll stay together in middle school!" Xia Mi said, holding their hands.

Fenrir nodded: "Of course."

Frilian didn't answer, because she knew that the illusion would eventually end, and that Fenrir in reality was a dragon, and Xia Mi was a girl whose fate was intertwined with his. But at this moment, she simply held the two children's hands tightly.

The middle school bell rang crisper and louder than the elementary school bell. The school buildings were taller, the courses were more difficult, and the little thoughts of adolescence began to quietly stir.

Fenrir had grown quite a bit taller, and his voice had become deeper, but he remained introverted. He joined the school's math club and often hid alone in a corner of the library to solve problems.

Xia Mi remained as lively as ever, joining the dance troupe and always surrounded by a group of friends. But what she cherished most was still the time she spent with her brother and Frilian.
