Starting with summoning the succubus

At this point, Qi Lin turned around and looked earnestly at the little succubus, "Can you tell me, do you like me?"

"I don't know what 'like' means."

Elena's beautiful face was full of hesitation. "You know, there are no words in the demon language that are similar to 'like' and 'love.' I can't understand this emotion. Perhaps only you humans can understand it."

"No, this is something every intelligent being understands."

Qi Lin shook his head and said softly, "In the 19th year of the Extraordinary Era, Professor Chen Hong of the Federation proved through a detailed research report that all known intelligent beings in the Federation possess the emotion of 'love,' including your succubus race. In fact, your succubus race's unique physiological structure and magic circuits allow you to clearly know whether you have fallen in love with someone."

"Huh?"

Elena was startled and quickly asked, "Then, what should I do?"

"Upgrade."

Qi Lin thought for a moment and said, "There is more than one way, but the simplest way is to add an extra material to the advancement ceremony. We'll talk about it later. Your demonic runes will tell us your intentions then."

"Um……"

Elena bit her red lips, looking cautiously at Qi Lin, "Then, what if the results come out and it shows that I don't like you? What will you do?"

"Then I would be very frustrated."

Qi Lin replied seriously, "But I'm not surprised. After all, if you think about it carefully, what have I done that would make you like me? Nothing. So far, nothing. In fact, until now, I've been using your power without doing anything for you."

"How could this be!"

Elena stared with her big pink eyes and retorted just as seriously, "You've raised me for so long, given me a place to live, clothes to wear, food to eat, you've taken me to amusement parks, given me birthday cakes, roasted whole cows... and so many other delicious foods. These are all things you've done for me."

"Ok?"

Qi Lin raised an eyebrow and then smiled, "If that's enough, then it's really simple."

"What's simple?"

Elena was a little confused, but quickly remembered the original topic and continued, "Qi Lin, you still haven't answered me. If the results of the advancement ceremony show that I don't like you, what will you do? Abandon me?"

You're dreaming!

Chapter 38 First Tier 9 Stars, Conditions for Advancing to Second Tier

late at night.

11:30 minutes.

Qi Lin left the dormitory and headed to Ye Sen's biological laboratory to begin a new round of monster hunting.

However, from a distance, he could see that the laboratory lights were on, and through the window, he could see a petite figure moving around inside—clearly Lu Tingxue.

That's a bit strange.

This "old man" is lucky if he's not late, how could he possibly arrive early?

"Squeak-"

Qi Lin stepped forward and pushed open the door to enter.

At this moment, Lu Tingxue was wearing a white sweater and a pink skirt, with thick white cotton socks on her legs and a pair of brand-name sneakers on her feet. She was sitting in a rattan chair, playing an open-world mobile game with a two-dimensional style.

The weather is getting colder.

Winter comes late to Dawn City. It usually starts snowing two days before winter break, around the end of January.

Due to various reasons, the academies in Dawn City usually don't officially start their winter break until February 1st, and then students have to return to school around February 23rd.

In three weeks, Qi Lin will begin his first winter break since his transmigration.

"good evening."

Lu Tingxue glanced at Qi Lin, gave him a casual greeting, and then continued playing her mobile game.

"good evening."

Qi Lin nodded, then walked to the nest of the bioluminescent insects to observe the queen's condition.

From the beginning until now, Lu Tingxue has been treating the queen insect for more than a week, and the queen insect's size has visibly increased. Originally only as thick as a thumb, it is now at least as thick as three fingers put together, and its body length has more than doubled.

As for the number of eggs laid, it has become completely stable at one thousand eggs per day, with fluctuations not exceeding thirty eggs.

Following the ratio of taking 10 and killing 7, Qi Lin has been gaining over 700 experience points every night for the past week. Over the course of seven days, he has accumulated over 5,000 experience points, leveled up 4 times, and added all 4 attribute points to his Spirit.

His attribute panel now looks like this:

Experience points: 23/1700

[Spirit: Tier 1, 5 stars → 9 stars]

Qi Lin's learning efficiency is now astonishing. Most math, physics, and chemistry problems are no longer difficult for him. He can fully understand them after listening to the teacher explain them once, and he can even apply what he has learned to other problems. His academic performance has skyrocketed. He even got a perfect score on the math quiz a couple of days ago.

In addition, his practical application of some low-level magic has become increasingly sophisticated, especially the Ice Shield spell, a defensive and life-saving spell, which he is most skilled at casting.

Once your mental strength is up, you learn everything very quickly.

However, a first-tier, nine-star mental strength also means that Qi Lin's mental power has reached the limit of a first-tier life form.

To continue improving, one must enter the second-tier realm.

Even the stat allocation system couldn't help him ignore this bottleneck in his life level, because the [Spirit] section in the system panel was now grayed out, making it impossible to allocate any more points.

For a Demon Envoy to advance to the second tier, only four conditions, or four steps, need to be met.

① Mental strength reaches "Tier 1, 9 stars".

Only those with this level of mental strength can attempt to summon a second-tier demon.

②The magic power intensity reaches "Tier 1, 7 stars".

Only with this level of magical power can one cast the "Demon Devouring Technique".

③Able to skillfully cast the "Demon Devouring Technique".

This is a special kind of magic that only demon wielders can successfully cast. When devouring a first-tier demon, a demon wielder can rely entirely on instinct. However, when facing a more powerful second-tier demon, the demon wielder must use the "Demon Devouring Technique" to successfully devour and absorb the demon's power. Otherwise, the chance of exploding and dying is as high as 73.6%.

④ Summon and devour second-tier demons.

—For a demon to undergo a qualitative change in its life, it must absorb more powerful demonic energy.

After successfully advancing to the second tier, Qi Lin will be able to contract a new demon. I wonder what kind of thing he will summon then.

A second succubus?

That would be a huge problem...

However, that's a story for another time.

Because Qi Lin's current magic power is at [Tier 1, 5 stars], it has not yet met the requirements for casting the "Demon Devouring Technique".

Besides that, he hadn't actually learned the "Demon Devouring Technique" yet.

This kind of extremely difficult special magic cannot be learned in a short time. Even a first-tier 9-star mental power is not enough in the face of such an extremely complex spell.

Moreover, it's not enough to just learn the basics of this magic; you have to become extremely proficient at it.

After all, devouring a second-tier demon is very dangerous. If he accidentally makes a mistake while casting a spell, he could end up exploding and dying tragically. Who knows if he will be able to experience another transmigration life?

This thing isn't for gambling.

In fact, the safest and most reliable method is to first advance one of your contracted demons to the second tier, and then let the other demon possess you to assist in casting the "Demon Devouring Technique". This way, the success rate can be said to be 100%, and it is absolutely safe and without any hidden dangers.

For example, let Elena advance to the second tier first...

"By the way, today is my last day here."

Suddenly, a sentence came from Lu Tingxue's side, interrupting Qi Lin's consideration of the promotion.

"Oh, okay... um? Wait! What did you say?!"

After realizing what was happening, Qi Lin looked at her in shock, "What about the queen insect? If you leave, won't the egg production drop again?!"

"..."

Hearing this, Lu Tingxue, who was sitting in the rattan chair, put down her phone and looked over helplessly. "Ye Sen told me this afternoon that it has fully recovered and that even if I leave, the number of eggs laid will not decrease... By the way, are you only worried about the bugs? I thought you would at least say something about regret, or at least a few polite words, right?"

"Oh."

Qi Lin thought for a moment, then said dryly, "You're leaving? That's such a pity. I'll miss you."

"I've never seen a guy as perfunctory as you."

Lu Tingxue jumped off the rattan chair helplessly, then walked up to him and asked softly, "There are only three weeks left until winter vacation. Will you be attending the Dawn Winter Camp? By the way, you should know about the winter camp, right?"

"I know."

Qi Lin sat down on the chair next to her and looked at the pretty girl with some curiosity: "Song Junda talked to me about this last Monday. I remember that guy was very close to you, right? I often saw you two going to the convenience store to eat ice cream together after class. Did he not mention this to you?"

"No."

Lu Tingxue tilted her head and thought for a moment, "Or rather, I just didn't ask."

"Alright then." Qi Lin nodded. "Anyway, I'll be attending this winter camp. From what you're saying, you'll be going too?"

"of course."

When Lu Tingxue mentioned this matter, a strange emotion appeared in her eyes. She said in a deep voice, "The student leader of Shuguang Academy is named Lu Chengfeng. He is a True Qi Warrior and is currently at the peak of the first rank. However, he has already had a record of defeating a second-rank superhuman in a direct confrontation."

"..."

Qi Lin was speechless.

Books always say that the difference between life levels is like clouds and mud, but such words seem to only be said to ordinary students. For those geniuses, it seems that if they don't fight against those of higher levels, they can't show off their proud status as born nobles.

Wait, the question is, why did Lu Tingxue suddenly bring up this person?

"so?"

Qi Lin looked at Lu Tingxue with suspicion, "Why did you suddenly bring up this Lu Chengfeng? What are you trying to say?"

"I hate this person."

Lu Tingxue said seriously, "So I hope that he and the Dawn First Academy he leads can have a failed winter camp trip. To do that, he must have strong teammates, such as Juliana, Song Junda, and... you, the Demon Envoy Qi Lin."

"Oh."

Qi Lin gave a lukewarm response.

Lu Chengfeng.
