Robert darted behind the wall at the corner of the stairs. Two shop assistants rushed down the stairs and were immediately met with a face full of chili powder that Robert had taken out of his spatial storage.
Their reactions were even worse; tears streamed down their faces from the chili powder, and they screamed in agony, frantically rubbing their eyes with their hands.
Facing two shop assistants who offered no resistance whatsoever, Robert raised his knife and pierced one of them through the neck.
The shop assistant was extremely weak; he finished the transaction with a single stab. Robert showed no mercy and stabbed another person to death.
Looking at the experience points, I realized that the two shop assistants had only given me 18 experience points, barely more than what I could get from making low-level dishes. It seems that the experience gained from killing monsters is also closely related to the NPC's level and strength.
Only then did Robert relax a little. He first checked the store from top to bottom to make sure there were no Indians or other waiters, before collapsing to the ground.
Exhaustion doesn't just come from the body; sometimes, mental exhaustion is even more tormenting than physical exhaustion.
His day had been so surreal, from accepting the fact that he had traveled through time, to experiencing the terror of almost being beheaded, to being taken back to the restaurant kitchen and tortured, and finally to the point where he had killed almost everyone else. It had left Robert utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally.
Even though his stamina had been increased to twice that of a normal person, it didn't make him feel much better. He should probably consider adding some points to his mental attribute when he levels up again.
Robert warned himself that he could only rest for a short while, as the danger was not over yet. In a place like Mogu Town, even if he leveled up to level 20, he would not be safe.
Once a person relaxes from a state of high tension, it's as if their body no longer belongs to them, and Robert unknowingly fell asleep.
The urgent knocking woke him from his sleep, and Robert jumped up instinctively.
The entire restaurant was pitch black, and the oil lamp on the bar had been extinguished sometime earlier.
Robert cursed himself for falling asleep at a time like this.
The knocking continued, and Robert, who had regained consciousness, was slightly taken aback, realizing that the sound was not coming from the front door.
Following the sound into the kitchen, the knocking became clearer, even accompanied by low curses:
"Hey! Where is everyone? Why are you blocking the door?! You're delaying our delivery, and I won't take the blame if the boss gets angry!"
Robert walked to a door blocked by a toppled shelf and asked in a steady voice, "Is this Mr. Indian?"
Upon hearing Robert's voice, Ah San became even angrier: "Damn it! I knew it! With the new slaves here, those guys won't be staying up all night waiting for me anymore!"
Robert moved the shelves aside, while the Indian man continued to curse: "Kid, hurry up and open the door. Everything on the truck needs to be moved in. If the goods aren't sorted out by dawn, I'll break your legs before the boss even lifts a finger!"
Robert gently opened the door just a crack, allowing only one person to pass through: "I'll bring the goods in right away, Mr. Indian, please go inside and rest."
Ah San's arrogant expression suddenly stiffened, and then he coughed and said, "I don't trust you to move it all by yourself. You go back and clear out some space in the storage room. I'll move the things in later."
Robert sighed, yanked open the wooden door, and lunged at the Indian man.
He had already seen clearly that there was no one else outside the door, only Ah San and the carriage behind him.
"I knew you were the toughest one to deal with in the whole tavern!"
Chapter 9 Target: Rumble-Rumble Fruit!
The people in the One Piece world are mostly abnormal; they are all of varying heights, with ordinary people growing to over two meters tall.
But the Indian is clearly a weakling.
Although he didn't know how he had been exposed, the momentary look of surprise on the Indian man's face was enough for Robert to decide to take action immediately.
Even though 11 points of strength is still considered to be at the very bottom in the world of One Piece, it is more than enough to deal with a skinny, small ordinary person like India.
Robert reached out and locked his neck, catching even the Indian man's gasp in his throat.
With a sudden burst of strength, Robert lifted the Indian man into the air, pulled him into the kitchen, and slammed the door shut.
At this point, Ah San was already in tears, not only because of Robert's rude actions, but also because he saw the corpses of Ah Da and the boss on the kitchen floor.
Ah Da was stabbed in the ribs, blood was flowing all over the ground, and his face was bluish-black from the pufferfish toxin, which was really frightening.
As for the boss, he was even worse off. He was doused in boiling oil and then burned by a huge dust explosion, turning him into a charred mess.
Robert wasn't in a hurry to kill the Indian. There wasn't much time left until dawn, and he needed to use the limited time to figure out his current situation.
Ah San was casually tied to the overturned kitchen shelf. Robert wanted to use the two corpses on the ground to increase his psychological pressure, so he had no intention of changing the interrogation location.
“You’re a smart man, so I’m sure you won’t make me waste my breath like these two guys on the ground.”
Although the Indian was so scared he was about to wet his pants, he still nodded frantically.
Robert picked up a wooden chopping block and sat down opposite Ah San: "Relax, we have plenty of time. You don't need to worry about anyone disturbing our conversation, because Ah Da, Ah Er, and the boss have all been killed by me. I also took care of two waiters who tried to kill me, so now we are the only two living people in the entire tavern."
Ah San trembled even more violently. When he left the tavern to buy supplies that night, this slave was still a pushover that anyone could kick. In just a few hours, he had killed everyone in the shop.
Moreover, his current nonchalant demeanor makes him seem like a pervert no matter how you look at it.
Robert flashed what he thought was a very approachable smile: "I'm actually quite curious, where exactly did you slip up? How did you know I was suspicious at the door?"
The Indian man swallowed hard: "Your shackles..."
Robert slapped his forehead: "Hahaha, I knew it! I was really careless."
The first thing he did after killing his boss was to find the key to remove his shackles, simply because they were too much of a hindrance to his fighting. Although his strength had doubled, he was still inconvenienced by the weight of the shackles.
As it turned out, this Indian guy was so perceptive that he immediately noticed the problem because he wasn't wearing shackles.
What year is it now?
Robert suddenly stopped smiling and asked a question that seemed as simple as it could possibly be.
Caught off guard by his sudden question, the Indian man instinctively blurted out, "1520 in the Haiyuan Calendar..."
The answer, which couldn't be simpler, made Robert frown. Even if you're just a casual reader of One Piece, not a pirate encyclopedia like him, you'd know what the year 1520 of the Sea Calendar represents.
Despite One Piece being a shonen manga that has been running for 28 years, the actual time span within the main storyline is only about three years.
Furthermore, these three years also included more than two years during which the main characters were scattered around the world for intensive training, meaning that the main storyline was actually drawn out in less than a year.
The year 1520 of the Sea Calendar is the year the protagonist Luffy set sail. He went from an unknown nobody in the East Blue to fighting his way into the Grand Line, doing countless great things, and his net worth rose from zero to four hundred million, all within the year 1520.
Therefore, this is the answer Robert least wanted to hear.
If Robert had traveled to a point in time before this, he could have used his precognitive advantage, like most of his predecessors, to find various opportunities, such as a rare Devil Fruit that had not yet been eaten, or infiltrating a powerful force and becoming stronger through diligent practice of physical skills.
However, since 1520, most of the relatively easy opportunities in the world have already been divided up, and with his current strength, it would be suicide to try and seize the few remaining ones.
As for slowly practicing physical skills, Robert doesn't consider himself one of those monsters in the main group who have a destiny to rely on, rising to fame in a year and becoming capable of fighting the Four Emperors after two years of intensive training.
Taking a deep breath, Robert decided to at least figure out the exact time he was in. This year was too long; it was enough for the main characters to set off from the East Blue and fight their way through the Grand Line.
"Has the Straw Hat Pirates been to town?"
The Indian guy was clearly taken aback: "The Straw Hat Pirates?"
Robert could tell from his expression that he wasn't faking it, and besides, there was nothing to hide about this issue.
"You don't know the Straw Hat Pirates? They're the great pirates of the East Blue, the Straw Hat Luffy who defeated Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea!"
Ah San swallowed hard. "I did see in the newspaper a few days ago that Crocodile was arrested, but the newspaper said it was Navy Captain Smoker and Tina who arrested him. I really don't know who the Straw Hat crew is..."
Robert's mind raced. This Indian was a smart man. He was thin, but he had managed to survive in the ruthless Demon Valley Town. His mind must be exceptionally sharp.
Such a person is extremely attentive to current events. If he says he has never heard of the Straw Hat Pirates, it must be because the main characters have not yet arrived here!
Crocodile has already been captured, so the Straw Hat crew must have just left the Alabasta Kingdom and haven't arrived in Jaya yet, so the Skypiea storyline hasn't started yet!
Robert's breathing became heavy. Originally, he planned to kill the Indian after getting some information, burn down the entire tavern, and then escape overnight. Ideally, he would be able to get on a ship and leave Gaya for the safer Four Seas.
But now he doesn't want to leave.
Normally, when someone transmigrates to the world of One Piece, they've already transmigrated long before the protagonist sets sail. In my case, I wouldn't even be there in time to eat shit.
Since the time travel point is already after the main characters set sail, the storyline on Jaya Island is the best opportunity!
As a veteran One Piece fan, Robert has fantasized countless times about how he would develop if he were transported to the One Piece world, and he has also imagined how he would develop various amazing abilities after acquiring them.
He actually had a contingency plan for the situation where he only arrived after the main characters had set sail.
Robert's gaze unconsciously drifted toward the ceiling, as if he could see through layers of obstruction to the sky island above the clouds, and the blond, long-eared man sitting on the altar atop the sky island!
"The Rumble-Rumble Fruit! This might be the only chance in the entire series to obtain it!"
Chapter 10 The smarter you are, the more afraid you are of death; the more afraid you are of death, the easier you are to fool.
Taking a deep breath, Robert tried to calm himself down, and his gaze toward Ah San became sharp.
"I've finished asking my questions. Now, you have three sentences to convince me not to kill you."
Indian was dumbfounded. He hadn't expected Robert to be so serious, yet he only asked him two unimportant questions!
This is the first time Robert has acted like a ruthless person. He was very kind to his apprentices before, so his current state is half imitating the mean middle manager he encountered at work, and the other half imitating the pirates who casually chopped off people's heads when he first transmigrated to this world.
The good news is that it seems to have worked quite well; it certainly gave the Indians quite a fright.
"I know where the boss's treasure is! I can take you there!"
Robert shook his head: "Although I don't have much money right now, the little bit of money a small tavern owner has won't sway me. You have two more chances."
Ah San had a gut feeling that the man in front of him wasn't bluffing to sell at a higher price; he genuinely regarded money as dirt and scoffed at the boss's considerable wealth.
"I...I can help you find them. I have a lot of connections in Mock Town. Aren't you looking for those Straw Hat Pirates? As long as they really come to Jaya, I'm sure I can find them!"
Robert gave a wry smile: "I'm sorry, I'm actually quite reluctant to part with you, but now you only have one last chance to say something. You need to organize your thoughts and think things through before you speak."
Ah San felt a surge of heat involuntarily welling up between his legs, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably. Interestingly, his mind had never been as clear as it was now.
"I've actually wanted to kill these bastards for a long time too. We're on the same page! I can help you completely control the boss's assets. As long as you don't kill me, I'm willing to pay any price!"
Robert smiled brightly, opening his palm and stretching it out in front of the Indian man: "To be honest, I'm not very satisfied with your third sentence either, but your final attitude is quite interesting. Are you really willing to give up anything? Even your soul?"
The Indian man trembled violently, desperately tilting his head back to get as far away from Robert's outstretched hand as possible.
Robert didn't really know what he needed. His talk of three chances was just to scare the Indian. When he learned that he had traveled to the year 1520 of the Sea Calendar on Jaya Island, he had already decided to spare the Indian's life and make good use of him.
Suddenly, a small, translucent, snow-white mass of flesh materialized out of thin air in the center of his outstretched palm. Ah San's pupils dilated in shock, and he couldn't help but stammer, "This is... the power of a demon! You are! You are!"
Robert laughed and said, "It seems you know what a Devil Fruit is, which saves me the trouble of explaining. Come on, eat this thing. Only then can I believe you won't betray me."
The Indian man couldn't help but ask in a trembling voice, "What is this thing?"
Robert's face turned cold: "This is what makes me hold back from killing you immediately."
The Indian man froze, but he quickly made a decision and stretched out his neck to eat the white meatball in Robert's hand.
Robert's expression relaxed again: "Don't swallow it directly, savor it slowly, this is a rare delicacy."
Ah San dared not disobey Robert's orders. He chewed the piece of meat in his mouth carefully. Putting aside the disgust that the meat had grown from Robert's hands and the psychological discomfort of being forced to eat inexplicable things, the meat was actually unusually sweet.
