Sure enough, he found Gwen behind the trash can not far inside; she had already taken off her hood and was cleaning her hair.

Chapter 113, Having the two of us is a real blessing for S.H.I.E.L.D.

Gwen had already noticed Holm when he entered the alley, which is why she dared to take off her hood so brazenly.

"Keep watch for me while I brush off all this sand. There's just too much. I feel like I need to take a good bath when I get back," Gwen said, hunching her shoulders against the wall and taking off her shoes.

"Splash." With her movement, the half-wet, half-dry sand on the ground quickly gathered into a small pile.

Holm looked at the cloud of sand and, while keeping watch, joked with Gwen, "I didn't expect you to have accumulated so much sand on you. Be careful you don't suddenly turn into William Baker."

Gwen rolled her eyes at him, then patted the hood and put it back on, saying, "Even if he turns into William Baker, we're not afraid. There are two of us now, so we can just catch him and prevent him from causing trouble again."

"Hey, speaking of which, I don't think William Baker is in that huge sandstorm outside. He acted so smart today, he definitely wouldn't just sit there and wait to die."

Hearing Gwen's sigh, Holm nodded and said, "I think so too. That guy probably ran away in the chaos a long time ago. Who knows what kind of trouble he'll cause next time."

"But there's no use thinking about this now. If we can't come up with a way to trap him and create a special container, given his sand-transforming ability, there's very little in this world that can trap him."

"Besides that, I'm also worried about whether he will further develop his abilities. Right now, water is his nemesis, but if one day he can even control mud and sand that has been wetted, then his danger level will increase several times over."

Hearing Holm's analysis and concerns, Gwen rested her chin on her hand and pondered, saying, "This is indeed a very troublesome matter."

"Let me go back and think of a way. There must be something that can control him. We can't let him keep running away like this."

Holm nodded in agreement and reassured her, "But don't be so nervous. My unit will also thoroughly investigate that guy."

"After all, with so many researchers, their work efficiency should be very high, and they might be the first to find a solution to William Baker's problem."

"Remember to let me know if you find it," Gwen said.

"Definitely." Holm smiled as well.

Having said what needed to be said, Holm turned his attention to Gwen. Perhaps because the way she had just removed the fire hydrant was too violent, her Spider-Woman suit was now clearly soaked.

The sun was setting, and there was a slight chill in the air. Seeing Gwen constantly rubbing her arms, Holm knew she must also feel a bit cold.

Although Spider-Woman is a superhuman, she is also like an ordinary person most of the time; she feels cold, she feels hot, she feels sad, and she feels heartbroken.

"Put my coat on first. It's a bit muddy, but it's mostly dry." Holm said as he took off his coat and draped it over Gwen.

"You need to go home quickly and take a hot shower, and it would be best to drink some hot water to get rid of the cold."

Holm had originally intended to have a cup of hot ginger tea, but he figured Gwen's house probably didn't have any, so he had to settle for some hot water to warm himself up.

Given her extraordinary constitution, she probably wouldn't catch a cold or fever. Drinking some hot water would just warm her up. After all, she's a girl, and she has some of the problems that boys don't have.

Holm's movements were so swift that Gwen didn't even have time to refuse before being enveloped in his coat.

Feeling this familiar scene, Gwen suddenly remembered that she hadn't returned the coat that Holm had lent her last time.

Just as she was about to bring up the matter, Holm's phone rang.

It was that familiar ringtone again, that familiar phone call, and that familiar woman's voice on the other end.

It was the same last time; it was the same woman named Daisy who called.

Gwen pulled her coat tighter and started lost in thought, the sense of déjà vu growing stronger.

Finally, after Holm waved to her while on the phone, indicating that he was leaving, the final scene matched up.

Gwen didn't say much, she just wrapped her coat around herself and watched Holm's departing figure.

After Holm turned out of the alley and disappeared from her sight, Gwen lightly punched the wall, leaving behind a shattered brick.

......

"Hurry up, hurry up, there's hardly anyone on the road anyway." In the passenger seat of a taxi, Daisy was shaking the dust out of her hair as she urged Holm to drive faster.

Holm could only smile helplessly upon hearing this, and then sped up his pace again.

His car was killed in action during the incident, so the two of them had to requisition a taxi to get back to base.

“Just so you know, driving this fast will get you a ticket. You’ll be in charge of negotiating with Commander Coulson then,” Holm said to Daisy as he sped up.

"Oh, and my car too. Remember to mention it in the mission report later; it's a brand new car, and I bought a lot of parts..."

"Alright, alright, it's clearly a beat-up car. The accessory you're talking about isn't just that doll hanging on the rearview mirror, is it?" Daisy ruthlessly interrupted Holm's nonsense, exposing his trick.

Holm didn't hide it any longer after hearing this, and just smiled and said, "Hey, look at what you're saying, that's not an ordinary doll, it's been blessed...it's priceless, you know?"

"Oh right, I remember there was a set of cosmetics you just bought in the truck bed, isn't that right?"

Daisy paused for a moment upon hearing this, then exchanged a smile with Holm and said, "Oh, thank you for reminding me, I would have forgotten about it if you hadn't mentioned it."

"By the way, it shouldn't just be a set of cosmetics, right?"

"Oh? What else? Maybe I didn't remember clearly, can you remind me?" Holm said with a slight frown, as if he was trying to recall something very seriously.

"And then there are the skincare products I just bought—face masks, serums, eye cream... a whole bunch!" Daisy counted on her fingers.

Holm couldn't help but twitch his lips upon hearing this. He hadn't expected Daisy to be so good at making things up; these things were clearly in the trunk.

However, even though they both knew the truth, no one would expose them, since they were the ones who benefited.

"Oh, yes, that's right. I just remembered. Oh, right, I also have a newly bought stereo system in the back seat. You haven't forgotten, have you?" Holm started to play along.

Daisy looked at him meaningfully, then squinted and replied, "That's right, that's right, I also have my own set."

And so, the two of them took turns listing everything they had recently wanted... no, everything they had lost during the mission, without caring whether the vehicle they lost could actually hold all that stuff.

"We've lost so much just to complete this mission. S.H.I.E.L.D. is truly fortunate to have such selfless ace agents like us," Holm remarked dramatically.

“Yes, yes, we’ve lost so much.” Daisy nodded in agreement, covering her mouth with her hand as she was so “moved” that she couldn’t stop smiling.

Chapter 114, The Strange Necklace

As Holm brought the taxi to a stop in the garage, Daisy jumped out of the passenger seat like an arrow.

"I'm going to take a shower first. You can shower later. Play by yourself for a while." Daisy's voice faded into the distance, clearly she couldn't wait to go to the bathroom.

Seeing this, Holm could only shake his head helplessly, close the car door, and slowly stroll towards the base.

He wasn't so particular; unlike Daisy, who insisted on taking a bath in the tub, he planned to just rinse off the dust in the shower next to the training room.

Holm walked toward the training room while thinking, when suddenly he felt as if he had stepped on something that was a bit hard.

He took a step back and looked down at the ground, where he found a black cord necklace lying there, with a black stone pendant about the thickness of a little finger and about five or six centimeters long in front of it.

"That Daisy is really something, she didn't even notice her necklace was broken." Holm muttered to himself as he picked the necklace up from the ground.

He recognized the pendant; it was the one Daisy always wore around her neck, and he had never seen her take it off before. He never expected it to fall to the ground today because the cord broke.

Holm had previously thought that the pendant in front of him was a slender and delicate piece of jade because it looked very smooth and lustrous.

After handling it today, I realized that the pendant is much harder than jadeite, so it's more like a special kind of mineral than jadeite.

If it were jade, it should have broken in two when it hit the ground, but now it looks like the stone is perfectly fine, without even a scratch, still smooth and flawless.

"I'll give it to her after she finishes showering. I don't know if she'll even notice that her neck is bare."

As Holm pondered this, he held the pendant in his hand and gently caressed it. He had to admit that the pendant felt really nice to the touch; it was very relaxing and had a cool, refreshing feel.

Whether it was psychological or not, Holm felt refreshed and relaxed, as if the coolness emanating from the pendant was being released throughout his body through his palms.

Holm, who had almost fallen asleep in the rocking chair, didn't wake up until Daisy came out of the shower to look for the necklace.

After taking a shower, he sat in the rocking chair, playing with the pendant while resting, and eventually drifted off to sleep.

"So you found it! I was wondering why I hadn't seen it anywhere. I thought I'd lost it on the street and was about to go out and look for it," Daisy said with a sigh of relief as she took the necklace.

After she finished speaking, she looked at the knot that Upper Holm had tied on the rope and exclaimed, "You tied this knot so beautifully, you can't see any signs of it breaking."

Holm smiled upon hearing this, then reminded her, "You should change the lanyard when you have time. Tying it in a knot is just a temporary solution; if you don't change it, it might break again later."

Listening to Holm's advice, Daisy nodded, then said with a hint of reminiscence, "I understand, but I've had them with me since I can remember, and I'm still a little reluctant to part with them."

“I had thought about getting a similar lanyard before, but when I went there, they said my lanyard was special because it had unique characters on it, which must have been left there by someone.”

"I think... this might have been left to me by my mother or father, so I never thought of replacing it. But I didn't expect it to break today."

Upon hearing Daisy's words, Holm fell silent. From their previous conversation, he had guessed that Daisy was probably an orphan like him, who had never seen her family since childhood.

Although he found it strange that she, as an orphan, had any connection with Nick Fury and Phil Coulson, he never asked out of politeness.

I never expected to hear Daisy talk about this herself today.

Looking at the hanging rope in her hand, Holm thought for a moment and finally suggested a method that he wasn't sure if it would work.

"I think we could go to Chinatown sometime and ask around; there should be many elderly people there who are skilled in knitting or needlework..."

"Perhaps they will have a way to make it strong again without replacing the lanyard."

Upon hearing Holm's suggestion, Daisy smiled and put the pendant back around her neck, replying, "Okay, we'll go to Chinatown after this mission is over."

......

At this moment, in Stacy's house, Gwen was sitting on the bed in her pajamas, drying her wet hair while staring blankly at the two coats neatly folded on the table.

Both jackets belong to Holm; one was because his suit was damaged during the last Lizardman incident, and the other was because he was soaked after kicking the fire hydrant earlier.

He hadn't even returned the clothes from last time, but he brought back another one this time. If this continues, will Holm ever be without a coat to wear?

Gwen dried her hair while her mind wandered aimlessly.

After thinking it over, Gwen probably felt that the idea was too far-fetched, so she patted her head, put down the towel in her hand, stood up and put the two coats into a gift box.

She had been searching for a long time but couldn't find a suitable container. She only found a gift box that had been opened at some point. Although it felt a bit strange, the size was just right.

"If I give it to him like this, won't he think it's a gift for him?"

"If that's the case, he'll probably be very disappointed when he opens the box and finds out it's his old clothes," Gwen thought, looking at the old clothes in the gift box.

After thinking for a moment, she looked at the small doll hanging next to her bag on the table and suddenly had a new idea.

Since we're already using a gift box, let's actually give him a new outfit as a return gift for the little toy.

Thinking about this, Gwen felt that her idea was quite good, and a bright smile appeared on her face.

Just then, she heard the sound of her own door opening.

When she walked into the living room, she saw George Stacy covered in dust, looking at her with a mixture of embarrassment and bewilderment.

"Well, I ran into a tough criminal today...it's related to the sandstorm, so that's why it's like this," George Stacy explained somewhat awkwardly, looking at the mess she had made of the floor.
