Chapter 374 A Satisfying Counterattack

"What nonsense are you talking about!" Nishimura glared at Kitamoto. "Of course it's my child!"

"Hahaha," Kitamoto scratched the back of his head and burst into hearty laughter, "I think it's my turn to make my appearance."

Nishimura asked, puzzled, "What are you doing here?"

Higashino explained to him, "Kitamoto is a lawyer; he'll help you with your case."

Nishimura, fuming, said, "You two are really going too far."

The two of them joked with Nishimura as usual, as if time had stood still.

Kitamoto couldn't help but smile.

He took the Weekly Youth Jump magazine and tucked it under his arm. "Want to go to the school and take a look?"

“Of course,” Nishimura nodded. “Otherwise, what would we be doing here?”

When people mature, they will have different feelings when they look back on the innocent days of their student days.

The three of them arrived at the school gate, where there was a security booth. The security guard was looking down at a newspaper.

“Um,” Nishimura stepped forward, “we used to be students at Enhiko High School, may we return to our alma mater?”

“A teacher needs to be present,” the security guard initially refused, but then looked up at the three of them in surprise and said, “You’re Nishimura!”

"Oh! Uncle Daito, you're still here!" Nishimura's eyes widened. "But you've aged so much! All your hair is white."

Higashino Hibiki had no idea how many teeth the security guard still had.

He can't stop the thugs, but he can manage the students.

Da Dong glared at him angrily, "You're still as tactless as ever!"

Nishimura was the most unconventional of the three, always coming up with something new, and soon he became familiar with the security guard at the school gate.

The security guard used to be in his 50s, but now he's in his 60s.

"Hahaha," Nishimura laughed heartily, scratching the back of his head, "that means I haven't changed."

He looks exactly like he did at 17, even though he's 28. That's a compliment.

"Uncle Da Dong, wait a minute," Nishimura rummaged through his backpack, took out a gift, and handed it to Da Dong. "This is a local specialty from our area. Please accept it."

The security guard seemed a little flustered.

“I was in so much trouble for you when I was little,” Nishimura said again.

Da Dong took it, "I misspoke just now, you're very different from before."

The boisterous little child has grown into a reliable adult.

Out of respect for Nishimura, Higashino and the other two were let in.

Watching Nishimura's retreating figure, Daito smiled with satisfaction.

"It seems like Xiaoxi Village is doing quite well. That's wonderful."

……

It's 2:30 pm now, and there's still an hour until the students are dismissed. Except for physical education classes, most students are still in the classrooms, and the campus is deserted.

As Hibiki Higashino was admiring the scenery, Nishimura suddenly said, "I'm a little scared."

"Huh?" He was confused.

“Me too.” Kitamoto nodded in agreement.

"Why?" Hibiki Higashino asked.

Nishimura shuddered. "I have this feeling that a teacher might suddenly appear and ask us which class we're in, and that we'll tell the homeroom teacher. It's just like when we used to skip class..."

Even though they had long since graduated, Nishimura and Kitamoto would still feel nervous and worried in the deserted campus.

Hibiki Higashino wasn't focused on his studies during high school and was always absent from school; he lacked that natural sense of awe.

He didn't share the same feelings about Yan Yan High School as the two from the Northwest; instead, he felt a sense of novelty towards it.

He had almost completely forgotten his high school.

There was no connection between him and Yan Yan from high school.

Aside from a few friends, there's not much to miss.

Because they didn't have indoor shoes, they couldn't enter the teaching building and just wandered around the campus.

"Huh!" Nishimura looked at the school's exhibition area and was taken aback. "The Go club is still there."

A recruitment notice for the Go club is posted here, stating that there are more than 20 members. Nishimura is overjoyed, saying, "President Nakai will be very happy to know this."

Japanese Go is getting worse and worse among China, Japan and South Korea. It has lost its former number one position and has become the undisputed third.

The number of people interested in Go has been declining year by year, but the Go club at Yan Yan High School is still going strong, which makes Nishimura very happy.

"Because of Higashino, right?" Kitamoto was a little annoyed to see him so happy. "People who love Go will come to En-hiko High School because of Higashino."

“You never know!” Nishimura said. “It could be because of my charm!”

The person with the worst skill level in the Go club is very confident.

They continued walking and arrived at the stadium.

Inside the gymnasium, the floor was smooth, and there was an exceptionally beautiful basketball court.

The students were playing basketball, and the sound of their shoes rubbing against the floor filled the air.

"We must get first place nationwide! Go for it!"

Hibiki and his two companions stood at the doorway, looking inside.

The students in the gymnasium who were having physical education class were all watching the basketball game.

They cheered loudly, creating a wonderful atmosphere.

Nishimura exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, it's so lively!"

There aren't many students playing basketball in Japan anymore; most people play soccer or baseball. The number of people playing basketball is probably less than the number of people playing tennis.

The craze sparked by "Slam Dunk" eventually faded away like the wind, leaving no trace. That era of basketball fervor is over.

Most schools in Hokkaido don't have the same vibrant and energetic atmosphere as Enhiko High School.

He looked closely and saw that the basketball club members were very serious. They were sweating and panting, but they were still trying their best to run, defend, and attack.

The students watching applauded enthusiastically, none of them seeming distracted.

This is extremely rare.

Kitamoto remarked, "This is also an influence from Higashino."

The anime "Slam Dunk" featuring college student Akino Mirai made his high school experience stand out from the crowd.

Nishimura then admitted that the Go club's continued existence was all thanks to Higashino Hibiki's legacy.

They watched for a while at the entrance of the stadium before turning around and leaving.

Inside the gymnasium, a substitute player stared in astonishment at Higashino Hibiki's retreating figure.

"That person looks familiar, who is it?"

……

The three of them left Yan Yan High School just before school ended.

During the meal, Nishimura remarked, "Higashino and the school are really closely connected."

Kitamoto paused in his ramen-eating, saying, "It's been ten years since we graduated. There are no traces of us on campus, but the influence of Higashino still lingers."

“Is that so…” Higashino Hibiki was taken aback.

"Yes! You saw it too!"

"I'm afraid there's still content about Higashino in the school's history museum."

"You guys are really exaggerating." Higashino Hibiki shook his head, took apart his chopsticks, and slurped up a mouthful of ramen.

"Most likely."

"It would be strange if they didn't use Higashino's name."

Worried that they might get carried away, Higashino asked, "Were you reading my manga at noon, Kitamoto?"

"Yes, it's 'Hanzawa Naoki,' a very interesting manga about working in a bank."

"Is it interesting?" Nishimura wiped the soup from his mouth. "I thought it would be boring, so I didn't watch it."

At 28, he still loves One Piece.

“It would be a loss not to read it,” Kitamoto said, putting down the magazine, which he always carried with him. “I read half of it and then I saw you guys had arrived, and I’ve been itching to see what happens next.”

"The comic is very professional, full of banking jargon and some insider information. Higashino, you put a lot of effort into it."

Hibiki Higashino explained, "We owe everything to Yoshii-kun in this regard; he's now an expert in this field."

Kitamoto was moved: "Oh, then you must come to me when you draw comics about lawyers in the future."

Nishimura raised his hand: "You can contact me for farming and animal husbandry!"

Higashino nodded: "No problem, as long as you don't mind me being a bother."

Nishimura was extremely proud, "I'm very professional! I'm the best veterinarian in the surrounding area."

Kitamoto also said, "Lawyers who graduate from the University of Tokyo are no less knowledgeable than others."

They are both very talented.

"Then I'll leave it to you."

After finishing their meal, there weren't many people in the restaurant, so they didn't rush to leave, even though it was still very hot outside.

Nishimura, bored out of his mind, glanced at the Youth Jump magazine on the table and pouted, "Kitamoto, you can keep reading, don't worry about me."

Kitamoto looked at Hibiki Higashino, who said, "I'm so happy that you like 'Hanzawa Naoki' so much. You see?"

"Ah."
