But having experienced what happened with his master's precious treasure, he knew that calm did not mean stability, and could more likely be a hidden danger.

"Senior Priest, how much do you know about that so-called true Buddha?"

The priestess sat down, seemingly also curious about Asura's "dark memories," and slowly replied as she watched the memory images reappear in the light and shadow of consciousness:

"What I know comes from the legacy. I can't say I understand it, but I do know quite a bit about the legacy."

"Would you mind talking about something related to the True Buddha? Keep it brief." Chu Mingkong continued to urge Asuluo with his eyes, encouraging her to try to communicate with the source of that power.

The priestess then retrieved the wisp of golden Buddhist essence, pure and sacred, with a soft glow. She explained it simply:

"Judging from the contact between the Asura King Ancestors and the True Buddha, the True Buddha has entered Nirvana countless times. Each time he was reborn, he was forming karmic connections and taking a different path each time. Through life after life of cultivation, he made his Buddhahood more glorious. In this process, due to his karmic connections, his followers merged together one day and became the original Buddhist sect."

However, when the true Buddha felt that he was getting closer and closer to the perfect Buddhahood, which was also the time of his most recent Nirvana, he glimpsed a corner of the future. The Buddhist sect would face the calamity of the ancient patriarch Buddha, and he would cause the pure Buddhist sect to be completely distorted and defiled into a place of right and wrong.

The ancient Buddha is a Buddha, but also a demon. He is a Buddha who does not cultivate his mind. He has the merit of saving sinners but lacks the wisdom of Buddhahood.

He is the Demon King, Mara Papiyas!

Chu Mingkong was completely confused, but the gist of it was that the current situation in Buddhism had nothing to do with the true Buddha; this was not a normal Buddhist sect, but rather the fault of Mara Papiyas.

Mara is the embodiment of power that is not restrained by Buddha-nature and morality.

He took out his black relic, which could be described as "ever-changing" and contained profound mysteries.

Originally, it was a Buddha statue depicting a joyful mother and child. In terms of status, the two figures in the statue belong to the Buddha King and his consort in Buddhism. The consort, who symbolizes the "mother," is constantly changing according to his thoughts.

She has appeared as Master's beloved child, and also as other female relatives.

On one occasion, it even allowed them to directly observe the activities of the old King of Chu and his entourage within the Abyss.

Chu Mingkong had always been worried that this thing was a hidden danger, but he never said that he had encountered any trouble because of it. However, the black relic did bring a lot of trouble to Xiaoxiang Qin Academy at first, spreading a great deal of desire!

The priest frowned in confusion upon seeing the black relic:

"A relic possessing demonic nature? Relics are the manifestation of the merits and vows of eminent monks after their passing. This relic has merit but lacks Buddha-nature. Could it be Mara Pāra, or a relic of one of his subordinates?"

Asura took the black relic, examining its details with a strange expression, as if comparing Chu Mingkong with the little Mingwang in the Buddha statue.

“This black relic has the appearance of all living beings, and its rank is too high. It cannot be the relic of an ordinary evil Buddha. It may be the relic of Mara Pāpāramitā.”

The priest was even more puzzled:

"The fact that Mara's relics are here means that He has already passed away. So, the current Ancient Buddha... is he the true Buddha?"

Chapter 274 Eliminating the Hidden Dangers Beneath the True Buddha's Treasury

This conclusion left even the priest bewildered for a long time.

If that is the case, even setting aside how Mara died and why His black relic ended up in Chu Mingkong's hands, the priest would find it hard to accept the true face of the Buddha alone.

She looked at the Buddha-nature with mixed feelings, and began to have doubts about it:

"Without Mara, the true Buddha himself commits heinous crimes, his actions even worse than Mara's, yet in the end he still wears Mara's skin to maintain his good reputation as the true Buddha?!"

Chu Mingkong scrutinized the priestess's expression, trying to discern whether she was genuinely surprised or acting. After observing for a long time, he couldn't see through her act.

He echoed in response:

Even Mara, the Buddha, had to offer him a cup of wine and exclaim how brilliant he was!

If one foresees the existence of Mara Pāra in advance, then one should act with extreme malice, shifting all responsibility to the mute Mara Pāra. When the oppression below can no longer be suppressed and one's position is about to be overthrown, one should jump out and purge oneself, saying that all the bad things in the past were done by Mara Pāra, and now the true Buddha has returned and the Buddha's light has reappeared.

In this way, he could gain the trust of another wave of Buddhist followers, and incidentally wash away his past sins without any responsibility, getting away completely clean, at most punishing himself with a cup of wine.

From this perspective, one can more or less imagine what tricks the Buddha might play after being reincarnated.

When He reappears, He will most likely not directly clash with Chu Mingkong and the others. Instead, He will claim to be the true Buddha who has returned, having been dormant for a long time, and forcibly sent the ancient Buddha Mara to hell.

He took the opportunity to cultivate a relationship with Chu Mingkong, and used various means to demonstrate his own greatness and righteousness.

Asura let out a long sigh. Her personality was even more straightforward than her principles, and she detested this kind of hypocritical behavior that didn't match her words.

"Mara is an evil Buddha, possessing a Buddha's heart capable of doing good deeds, but he fails to restrain his evil actions. This so-called true Buddha is hypocritical, using every means to whitewash himself..."

"Priest, tell me, what is the purpose of your appearance!"

The priestess clenched her fist, suppressing that wisp of Buddhist nature, not wanting it to reappear in her sight. She examined herself for a moment, then sighed:

“I think it should be ‘reunion’. At this moment, I am a remnant of divine consciousness, and the obsession within this remnant is ‘reunion’, reunion with my clansmen from the past.”

But now that I think about it, it was actually the ancient Buddha who lent me this so that you could go and find Him to help us be reborn.

After all, if I simply wanted to 'resurrect,' it would inevitably make you suspicious, but if I were obsessed with 'reunion'...

Chu Mingkong frowned, sounding confused.

Judging from this, this priestess is indeed a priestess, but she is not directly controlled by the ancient Buddha. However, she indirectly influences her in order to gain Asura's trust.

However, this makes it very difficult to find any loopholes.

She was the true priestess, and her wish was to reunite with her people. Driven by this emotion, she would naturally persuade Asura to trust the true Buddha and cooperate with him.

Even the priest's lingering will was unaware that he was being used.

"If you are truly a priest, then tell me, what should I do now?" Asura asked the elder in front of him directly, his expression carrying a hint of murderous intent.

The priest, on the other hand, displayed a sense of relief and peace:

"If what you and I guessed just now is true, then this legacy mark that exists between the successive Asura Kings cannot be left behind. From the very beginning when they received the 'gratitude ceremony' from that true Buddha, this was a trap left for the Asura race."

Asuluo, you can retain the knowledge and techniques as you see fit, but it's best to destroy all the cultivation levels, insights, and memories!

Destroying this legacy mark, while eliminating the hidden dangers, also means that the priest's lingering resentment has completely disappeared.

Chu Mingkong hadn't expected the priest to say such things so bluntly. It was tantamount to asking Asuluo to kill him. Were all the Asuras like this?

He interrupted and asked:

"There's something I want to confirm. According to you, Priest, your appearance was merely a ploy to lure Asura into contacting the True Buddha. So what is it that's currently vying for control of Asura's body?"

After thinking for a moment, the priest said:

"This is not my doing. I cannot sense what is happening in Asura's physical body. In my opinion, she is currently just meditating in the depths of her own consciousness."

But... I think I know where the problem lies.

"where?"

Chu Mingkong was very serious, worried that the Ancient Buddha's hidden hand might be lurking deep within Asuluo's consciousness.

That would be a huge problem. If even a Bodhisattva can master the art of possession and soul-stealing, wouldn't the Buddha be even more formidable?

“He is hidden in the lineage of the male Asura King,” the priest guessed, but was about 80-90% certain.

Chu Mingkong suddenly recalled one or two things Asuluo had mentioned to him earlier about the inheritance mark...

The differences between men and women in the Asura race are obvious. Not only are their appearances different, but their spiritual veins and inheritances are also completely different. The inheritance marks between Asura Kings are even separated into male and female sides.

Asura could only accept the inheritance brought by the female Asura King at the moment, while the male Asura King could only watch helplessly.

If the ancient Buddha's hidden hand is concealed in the other side of the inheritance, then it can explain why the priest and Asura could not discover the real problem!

The priest was even more at ease about this matter:

"If the truth is hidden on that side, then it's even easier to solve. We can just destroy this inheritance mark, which will also eliminate the hidden danger."

After speaking, the priest's figure disappeared, leaving only Chu Mingkong and Asuluo in this world of consciousness.

Chu Mingkong thought to himself, "The priest must have concealed his form because he was afraid that Asuluo wouldn't be able to do it."

Unfortunately, under the influence of the Lonely Star Destiny,

The environment deep within this consciousness perfectly recreates the moment when the priest passed away.

The wind and rain were raging all around, and the sound of thunder was accompanied by the damp smell of the air.

Destroying the ancestral mark at such a time is like "sending away" the priest once again on a similar day.

This is really "timely".

But the time that happened in reality was the priest's liberation, meaning that at the moment of her death, she was finally no longer controlled by the Bodhisattva of Boundless Intent.

This time, however, it is Asura who is going to eliminate him with his own hands.

"Did you cause this situation around us?" Asura pointed to the surrounding mental tribulations.

"This... the idea was to fight poison with poison, to see if it could help you." Chu Mingkong looked embarrassed and very awkward.

He wanted to contact Aunt Donglu and ask her to stop the influence of his destiny.

Unfortunately, we can't get in touch with her outside for the time being.

Asura remained silent for a moment, then offered words of comfort:

"Don't worry about it. Destroying this legacy mark is a kind of revenge against the ancient Buddha, thwarting her evil scheme. The priest will be happy about this."

I guess so......"

Having made up her mind, Asura no longer hesitated in the slightest. From the depths of her consciousness, she gathered up that uncontrollable ferocity.

The energy swirling within his fist possessed a ferocious sword intent, as if he had gone mad from internal energy cultivation.

boom--

Asura used his fist as a sword, throwing a punch at the inherited mark. It was like a thunderous dragon rushing and roaring past, its sharp edge and the awe-inspiring sword intent within transforming into the dragon's fangs!

After that punch, the effects of the Lonely and Deadly Fate disappeared completely, and the surrounding wind, rain, and darkness vanished.

All the suppressed anger and resentment in her chest seemed to be released with that punch.

However, the mark of the Asura King's legacy still exists, only it has been blurred by the blow, like a shattered reflection in water, swaying and floating.

In that blurry and ever-changing state, the mark of inheritance gradually transformed from the ancient characters of the Asura race into the face of a benevolent Buddha!

Square face, large head and ears, drooping earlobes, kind and gentle eyes.

It's like the most common Buddha statues have come to life.

【King of Asura, I am a true Buddha of Buddhism. I had a karmic connection with your Asura clan's ancestor. I can help you send your ancient Buddha to Nirvana, thus settling this karmic debt of enmity.】

It seems that He was unaware of the conversation between the priest and Asura.

The priest couldn't sense His presence, but this guy had no idea what the priest was talking about.
