The sudden noise made the alert Twilight Dragon drop the piece of meat it was holding, arch its back, spread its wings, and prepare to flee back to its cave at any moment.

That was the sound of Mr. Dragon taking a step with his forepaws. Realizing that Twilight Dragon was alert, the tall bone dragon awkwardly retracted his bone claws.

Ten minutes later, the Twilight Dragon charged back into the pile of meat, because it discovered a small monster covered in tentacles was trying to steal its food from her.

Lyle couldn't stop Nia, but fortunately, she got along well with her dining companions.

Lyle walked over at Mr. Dragon's careful prompting.

Lyle recognized the dragon's eyes—that gleaming gaze he had seen before in Ralf's eyes. That gaze held the hope of life.

"Lyle! Lyle! That's a dragon!"

"Didn't we already guess that, teacher?"

Lyle sensed that something was wrong with the dragon.

"Lyle, I think I've found the right partner."

"I want to be in a relationship."

Chapter 593 Ghosts and Dragons

"A noble dragon needs no mate!"

"Noble dragons would never reproduce through primitive reproduction!"

"If my memory serves me right, teacher, did you say something similar?"

The enormous skull was buried beneath the bone wings, and the inconsistency between his words and actions made Mr. Dragon a little embarrassed.

“Indeed, I said it, but Lyle! Look at her, look at her perfect body, her noble posture. She is a dragon, a legacy from the previous era. Can you feel her charm? Her charm has corrected my thinking.”

The dragon's fingertips gripped Lyle's cheek, forcefully fixing his gaze on the Twilight Dragon's body. The flesh on his face was squeezed out of shape, and Lyle could only pout and answer in a helpless tone.

"I didn't feel her charm, but her eating habits were very similar to Nia's. All I could see were scales covered in mud, broken dragon wings, a torn wound on the back of her neck, and an uncivilized look in her eyes like a wild beast."

The dragon did not refute Lyle's answer; it released its grip, allowing Lyle's facial muscles to move freely.

“Good eye, Lyle. What you see are the key aspects of her that can be developed and improved. She needs us to help her become better.”

Lyle watched the black-purple dragon fighting with Nia over food. It seemed that Mr. Dragon had become infatuated with her. This was Mr. Dragon's twisted aesthetic sense. Although it was hard to imagine, this mad dragon might very well become his master's wife.

He doesn't seem to be very bright.

With this thought in mind, Lyle noticed that the Twilight Dragon had stopped eating, its deep purple eyes fixed on him. Even though the dragon's massive body was right beside him, those eyes remained fixed on him.

The Twilight Dragon was staring at Lyle.

"It doesn't seem like appetite, Lyle. You have a special attraction to her. Speaking of which, you seem to attract the attention of the opposite sex very easily. When Ariana and you got together, there were quite a few liches committing suicide in Andrei, although I also helped 'deal with' some of the out-of-control suitors."

Lyle watched as the dragon calmly spoke terrifying words, and the twilight dragon lowered its head and slowly walked over.

"Why? I've never seen this dragon before. Logically, there shouldn't be any connection between us."

“Lyle, since we don’t know the reason, let’s try it out. Let’s hand you over to her and see what happens. I will take care of you, and I will intervene if your life is in danger.”

"...Teacher, you mean my side when you say life-threatening danger, right?"

"……certainly!!!"

Having just finished her meal, the Twilight Dragon's eyes no longer gleamed with ferocity. Her eyelids, preventing moisture from escaping, gave her eyes a translucent, gem-like quality. She lowered her head, glanced at Lyle, then looked up at the dragon, took a step, looked at Lyle again, stared at the dragon once more, and took another step… like a silkworm, she moved inching along, until, under the dragon's gaze, she was ten meters away from Lyle. Her eyes were now locked on Lyle, her nostrils twitching, exhaling warm breath carrying the scent of meat.

Her neck was stretched straight, just to sniff Lyle's scent more closely. This was probably the best way she could satisfy herself without provoking the powerful figure.

The dragon bent its neck, lowered its head, and used the tip of its skull to push Lyle forward a small step toward the Twilight Dragon.

"Ayh!" The dragon's friendly gesture elicited a cry from the Twilight Dragon. She looked up at the big guy who had once bullied her, a mixture of doubt and anticipation welling up within her.

So the dragon pushed Lyle a little further forward, a move that elicited an even louder cry from Twilight, who thumped her front paws on the ground like a child waiting for a gift.

The third time, the dragon grabbed Lyle by the scruff of his neck and carried him directly in front of the Twilight Dragon.

"AYHHHHHHHH!" Twilight Dragon shouted happily, wagging its tail at the tall dragon.

It bit down on Lyle's upper body.

"Holy crap!" The dragon, realizing its mistake, was about to save its student.

Lyle, however, stopped him, reaching out his hand from between the dragon's teeth to soothe it.

"Teacher, I'm alright! I was just held in its mouth!" The dragon's teeth were like a guillotine, and that deadly fang only lightly touched his back. Perhaps the Twilight Dragon never intended to eat Lyle in the first place; she just wanted to capture him, just like now.

Under the watchful eye of the dragon, Lyle was led into the Twilight Dragon's lair.

……

One month later.

Naslan Castle.

midnight.

A ghostly maid, holding a candlestick, floats in the dining room.

Lyle, knife and fork in hand, dined with the three Nathlan sisters. Beatrice, head propped up by her left hand, pointed her silver fork, skewered with meat, across the long table at Lyle, sauce dripping onto her plate. The vampire lady seemed to really enjoy the story.

"So what happened next? What did the mother dragon do after taking you into her lair?"

“Sleep.” Lyle saw Beatrice’s hair fluttering up like a cat with its fur standing on end, and the temperature in the Naslan restaurant suddenly dropped. “Hill seems to treat me like a cub or a toy. After eating, she went back to her nest to sleep, while I was pressed under her scales, like a dozen suits of armor pressing down on me.”

"Oh." Beatrice picked up her wine glass and took a sip, a flush of drunkenness rising on her face. Suddenly, the obedient third sister made Ariana cover her mouth, and the approaching ghostly maid trembled in the air, the firelight flickering.

Helena took over the conversation.

"So, you spent a month bridging the gap between Mr. Dragon and that Twilight Dragon named Hill. You became the dragon's matchmaker, didn't you?"

"More than a matchmaker, I feel like a token of love passed between the two dragons. I've never quite figured out why I attracted Hill's attention; I only know that she liked to hold me in her hands and rub against me like a pet. Because of this, every night after Hill fell asleep, I would sneak back to Mr. Dragon, and then the next day Mr. Dragon would return me to her. Their close relationship today, you could say, was all thanks to me running around."

“Thank you for your trouble, Mr. Gift.” At Ariana’s signal, the ghostly maid Monica refilled Lyle’s glass. “But isn’t this considered fraud? The dragon named Hill didn’t get nothing in return.”

Lyle picked up his glass, took a sip, and hissed. "So cold! My teeth feel like they're freezing." He glanced back at Monica, whose expression was blank, and gave his answer.

"I don't think we've deceived Hill. She received companionship and comfort from the dragons. The shadow corruption had severely damaged her mental state, and the dragon priest's analysis indicated that she had completely lost the ability to think rationally and the mind of an adult dragon. Now that the dragons have perished, her beloved dragon teacher is her best companion. In the past month, the dragon teacher has healed her wounds, cleansed her body, and accompanied her on hunts, never leaving her side. I believe that the dragon teacher's kindness and efforts must have played a significant role in the close relationship between the dragons and Hill now."

"My thoughts are almost identical with those of all the dragon priests: the dragon master is the best, and only, choice for Twilight Dragon Hill."

Lyle breathed a sigh of relief, as if recalling his work over the past few days.

"Rebuilding Hill's dragon's nest with bone architecture, and preparing a super-large flesh and blood camouflage for Mr. Dragon... I've been exhausted these past few days, and I also feel sorry for the maids of Naslan, who must have worked very hard preparing so much food every day."

Ariana giggled.

"The maids have been quite excited lately. Beatrice and I have been eating very little. They probably really enjoy this opportunity to show off their culinary skills."

"The only ones who are pitiful are probably the cattle and sheep that are slaughtered."

“But I imagine those poor animals are herded and grazed every day by your various twisted creations, Lyle.”

"Becoming food sooner might be a relief."

"That's wonderful, darling, this is an ending where no one got hurt."

Lyle finished his food and put down his knife and fork.

"Actually, I came back for another purpose. The dragon priests want to try to repair Hill's shattered soul, and Helena is the best soul master we can think of. Helena, can you repair a dragon's soul?"

“I can give it a try.” Helena’s sculpture seemed to tremble slightly. “Um… are Hill and Mr. Dragon coming to visit Naslan?”

"No, it also includes the five dragon priests, who have become the dragons' caretakers after meeting Hill."

The knife and fork fell to the ground. Lyle turned around and saw Beatrice covering her head, looking at him with a pale face.

"So...that means...the scholars and teachers...will also come to Naslan?"

"Sister... Sister... Sister! I suddenly remembered that Blood Rose still has work to finish..."

Three sculptures fell from the sky, with the smiling Helena sculpture surrounding the terrified Beatrice.

“My dear Benny, Naslan’s daughter, will not desert her post…”

"No...no!!!"

Chapter 594 The Origin of the Law Breaker

At the shore of Lake Naslan, the dragon priest made contact with the master of Naslan.

The scholar wore a bronze mask, and although his face couldn't be seen, Lyle could guess his mood. Beatrice looked like she had just recovered from a serious illness; her pale face had heavy dark circles under her eyes, and her weight was almost entirely on Lyle's arm, like a critically ill patient supported by a cane. Despite trembling all over, she forced a tearful smile and greeted the scholar.

"Are you alright, child?"

"No...it's nothing, teacher. It's just insomnia and a bad cold. I feel like there's a huge rock pressing on my chest, and my limbs are weak...With Lyle here, I can barely keep going..."

The scholar covered his face; when the person receiving him was Beatrice instead of Helena, he already understood what was going on.

"really?"

“Eek!!!” Beatrice interpreted the slightly questioning tone as an interrogation. Her body trembled more frequently, and she gripped Lyle’s arm even tighter, almost hanging on him.

Lyle sighed inwardly; as expected, faking illness as a vampire wouldn't work.

"Lyle?" The scholar turned the question to Lyle, because Beatrice was already somewhat speechless. She hid most of her body behind Lyle, as if the scholar were some kind of cannibalistic demon.

Lyle glanced at Beatrice, whose usually arrogant and domineering third sister was pressed against his shoulder, looking up at him pitifully. If vampires didn't have no tears, she would definitely have squeezed out some.

“Scholar teacher, there’s no one Beatrice can help you with this now, so why don’t I take you on a tour of Naslan by myself?”

“That’s fine then.” The scholar looked at Beatrice again and sighed. “Child, you should go back and ‘get some rest.’ I’ll borrow Lyle for a bit.”

“Okay, teacher! Goodbye, teacher!” Beatrice felt as if she had been granted a pardon, and the sickly boy spread his wings and flew back to the castle.

Lyle and the scholar exchanged glances as they watched her swift retreating figure.

"Scholar Mentor, what exactly did you do to Beatrice back then?"

"I have no clue either. In terms of teaching, I should be considered an excellent professor."

The two began to stroll along the riverbank, and their conversation started with Beatrice's teaching.

“When Naslan was undergoing the ghost transformation caused by Helena, I was engrossed in my academic research. By the time I went to help, the ghost transformation was already irreversible. But what really angered me was that Beatrice secretly transformed herself into a vampire after I arrived in Naslan. I could have stopped it.”
