On the very day the magic was unleashed, Doflamingo inquired of his king.
"Your Majesty, regarding the late king's mausoleum, should we..."
"Let him rest here forever."
"Your will."
"By the way, after my queen passed away, my child has been locking himself in his room. I remember you have a boy of about the same age, so why don't we let them become playmates?"
"I understand, Your Majesty. I will take good care of the prince."
"No, you should call me Lord Doflamingo now."
"Yes, my lord."
During the Wandering City Conquest event, the city was immersed in a sea of revelry.
In the central urban area where the Secret Law Council is located, there is a hotel.
In the restaurant on the first floor, the two sat facing each other in the very center of the tavern. There were no other customers in the other seats, only the arcane guards standing ramrod straight outside the door.
The man in magnificent robes looked at his long-lost son and began to tell the story of the founding of the City of Wandering.
His child had grown into a tall, imposing man. His once-wispy, lion-mane-like blond hair was now a buzz cut. His robust physique made him appear like a behemoth among the common mages of the Wandering City. The boy was wolfing down his food, his ravenous eating causing Laroetti to frown slightly. But upon seeing the gleaming silver knight's armor on his offspring, all his displeasure turned to approval, and a touch of curiosity.
"Are the pig feed in the Holy Light even more nutritious than ours? What do they eat to grow so big...?"
"Father!" The boy stopped what he was doing, his similarly youthful face furrowing. "I can hear you!"
"So what if I heard you? Do you want to use holy light to judge your father?!"
The young man sighed and swallowed the last piece of meat.
“Father, I’ve heard the story of the City of Wanderings eight hundred times. Can’t you come up with something new? My ears are calloused.”
"Hmph!" Laroette looked at her son, her long-standing longing turning into increasing displeasure. "I think you've already forgotten your hometown."
The young paladin immediately retorted, "Hey! You know what, if you had contacted me any later, I would have joined the Guardian Legion. Then you could have gone to the Crusaders to rescue them!"
Laroette slammed her hand on the table. "You heartless brat, I think your brain has been burned out by the Holy Light."
The Silver Knight laughed heartily, "Almost there. I still remember who my father is."
As they played around, Laroette sighed. "My child, will you blame me, blame me for my decision back then?"
The Silver Knight suppressed his smile; he had originally intended to use this antics to ease the awkwardness between father and son.
"It's strange, but I understand. Without your decision back then, I wouldn't be who I am today. At least, I'm quite satisfied with the present."
The Doflamingo family, loyal henchmen of the Dorgit royal family, harbored a bold idea when Carlos decided to transform the Wandering City into a multi-ethnic city. They aimed to absorb all power and become the royal family's sharpest claws.
And now, the most powerful force is the Holy Light.
The eldest son of La Royette, heir to the Dovran family, became the test subject for this project. Instead of traditional mage training, La Royette subjected his son to intense physical training. Upon his son's coming of age, he requested a master from the City of Wanderers to imprint his soul on his beloved son. His life would forever be controlled by this imprint; even if he lost his memory or his soul became twisted, the imprint would remain unchanged.
Dovran was marked by his loyalty to the Dorgit royal family.
Then he left his eldest son at the entrance of the Church of Holy Light, so that he could learn the power of the Holy Light.
And now, his child has returned, a distinguished third-tier paladin.
"The conflicts I had anticipated did not occur, and my child has become a sunny and cheerful person." Ravenette felt gratified.
"I have to thank you, Dad, otherwise I would be a weakling like you now, trembling with fear when I walk. Hahaha, not to mention anything else, I can loosen up your old bones with just a little effort."
La Royette was nearly choked to death by his unfilial son, but he endured it.
"My child, what level has your power reached now?"
"Third tier, Silver Knight, but no problem fighting a fourth tier mage. Dad, you didn't learn Holy Light, you don't know, it's like having a cheat code. I've already crushed all our guards, one word: awesome."
A few more veins bulged on Laroetti's head. He took a deep breath and turned the page.
"Now that you're back, I'll arrange some things for you."
“I understand. Inheriting the family business, right? After all, the path of a paladin is blocked, so you can only go home and inherit the family fortune.”
"No, your brother will inherit the family fortune. You are a paladin, what do you need a mage's family fortune for?"
The Silver Knight shrugged; having been baptized by the Holy Light, he really didn't care about those things.
"Okay, then what do you need me for?"
Ravenette took a delicate little box from her pocket. Inside was a ring set with an ice-blue gemstone, its exquisite beauty gleaming with a cold light. With the appearance of the light, the temperature in the entire room seemed to drop several degrees.
"Dad, this is indeed very beautiful, but isn't this some kind of elemental mage's equipment? Why are you giving me this? Even if you don't want me to fight for the inheritance, you're being too stingy by just giving me a perfunctory gift."
"You brat, this was specially saved for you. This is an Ice Stone, the core of the Frost Elemental Lord after its death. It can help you absorb heat."
"Oh, thank you, Dad, but actually I'm not that hot."
"This is for your life, you idiot. You can only complete your next task with it."
The Silver Knight scratched his head; he didn't like thinking much.
"What exactly is the mission?"
"Blind date."
"Huh?" Although I'm indeed getting on in years and have reached the age to settle down, going on blind dates, and making such a big fuss about it? Is the old man worried I won't find a partner? I'm a paladin, the most handsome professional in the world. No exaggeration, if I walk down the street, not a single human girl wouldn't want to have sex with me. What is the old man worried about?
The Silver Knight put the Ice Stone Ring on his hand.
“My son, remember this: your mission is for the prosperity of the family. As a nobleman, you were born with a mission to support the family and serve the monarch. Now is the time for you to return from your studies and put your talents to use.”
Crackling, crackling.
A sudden noise interrupted their conversation. The Silver Knight sensed danger, grabbed his father with one hand, and leaped away from the sound, ready to face the danger as he watched the source of the noise.
That was the crackling sound of wood burning at high temperatures. In sight, all the thin pieces of cloth and paper began to curl inward and then burn. The temperature in the air was gradually rising, and the whole house was like entering the height of summer, gradually turning into a fire scene.
With his keen intuition guided by the Holy Light, the Silver Knight heard a voice, a dangerous presence gradually approaching, the sound of footsteps mingling with the Silver Knight's heartbeat.
"The enemy, a dangerous enemy." The Silver Knight drew his Holy Light Warhammer and faced the door. The increasingly palpable pressure made him speak instinctively.
"what is that?"
The image of La Rochetti echoed in his son's arms.
"If I'm not mistaken, that should be my future daughter-in-law."
"what?"
With a crackling sound, the burning wooden door was pushed to the ground, and outside stood a slender woman.
Black leather barely covered her chest and buttocks, her exposed bronze skin reflecting the sun's rays. Crimson scales adorned her alluring body like jewelry, and atop her goat-like demonic horns burned an inextinguishable flame. Standing before the paladin, the surrounding air distorted with the intense heat. Even though her face possessed a blend of fiery wildness and gentle innocence, men driven by lust would hesitate to approach her because of the sheer intensity of the heat.
A Balrog. The Balrog girl seemed startled by the wooden door that collapsed at the slightest push. Looking at the two men piled up in the corner, she shyly covered her face. "Ah, sorry, did I come to the wrong place?" Her innocent face and hot figure were enough to ignite the blood of any man, but the Silver Knight only asked his father in surprise.
"You want me to go on a blind date with a Balrog?"
hot dog.
For some reason, this was the first thing the Silver Knight thought of.
"Rufuy Flameheart, she's no ordinary Balrog. She's the leader of the Abyss Demons, and Pomfrey Abyss is her aunt. She's the little princess of the Abyss Demons, their apple of their eye. That's the future inheritance I've prepared for you, and it's something you must do: strengthen the ties between the royal family and the demons. No matter what, you must secure her. By the way, she's a fervent fan of the Holy Light. Don't be surprised; it's the current trend among the Abyss Demons."
"Got it, kid? With the Ice Stone, you're her perfect match."
"Are you sure you're not pushing your son into lava? This is practically like having a romantic encounter with an active volcano..."
“Your second son can’t stop the volcano… We’ve tested it, and the Ice Stone can withstand the Flame Demon’s high temperature. Go for it, my boy, show all your charm.” Laroette gave her son a push. “By the way, the Ice Stone is very fragile, don’t let it get squeezed.”
And so, an intense blind date event began.
The Silver Knight and the Flame Demon Girl sat facing each other, cross-legged on what had once been a chair, now covered in charred remains. Thanks to the power of the Ice Stone, the Silver Knight remained unharmed and did not turn into a canned meat.
"Hello, I am Rufus Flameheart." The Flame Demon Girl lowered her head. She was a little shorter than the giant-like Silver Knight. Her cheeks were flushed as she peeked out, whether from shyness or the high temperature was unclear.
Upholding the gentlemanly conduct of a knight, the Silver Knight did not embarrass the girl.
“Hello, beautiful girl, I’m Minamoto.” Minamoto smiled. “My friends call me Minamoto.”
"Okay, Xiaoming."
Paladin Xiaoming's face fell.
"Miss Yanxin, please feel free to address me as you like. It's just a form of address; I don't particularly care, even if this form of address sounds rather cheap..."
“But Xiaoming sounds cute.” Flameheart chuckled, lowered her head, and accidentally bumped her sharp horn against Xiaoming’s breastplate. “Ah, sorry.” Rufus Flameheart quickly apologized and raised her head again.
The girl's adorable reaction made Xiaoming smile, and that gentle smile quickly calmed the girl's panic.
"Um... Xiaoming, is he really... that, a paladin?" Rufus looked at Xiaoming expectantly, her crimson eyes sparkling.
“Genuine, no doubt about it.” Xiao Ming stretched out his palm, and a bright ball of light appeared in his hand.
In Rufus's eyes, the tiny spark was covered by the light of the holy light. She watched the light with growing fascination, and unconsciously reached out her palm, slowly approaching it.
Looking at the dazed, engrossed fire demon girl, Xiao Ming removed the scales and demon horns that symbolized religious evil, and found Rufus Flameheart to be just an ordinary girl. Her adorable, dazed expression, captivated by something she loved, and the pure innocence in her eyes, struck a chord with the paladin's faith. The last remaining doubt completely vanished.
The slender hand covered in bright red scales overlapped with the hand of the girl he had once saved in his memory.
Rufus Flameheart's palm touched a rough, thick palm.
"Xiao...Ming...?"
The paladin flashed his signature smile and helped the kneeling girl to her feet.
"This is a rare celebration, Miss Flameheart, may I ask you out?"
When invited by a member of the opposite sex for the first time, the Flame Demon Girl, who was usually alone, had no social experience in dealing with this situation. She could only clumsily follow her instincts and stammer in response.
"……Um."
The rendezvous between the Balrog and the Paladin thus began in the City of Wanderings.
Although the Balrog's high temperature was a significant problem, Paladin Xiaoming perfectly acted as that hand, helping the Balrog girl to connect with all things.
Gradually, their hearts drew closer.
Rufus Flameheart's timidity gradually eased, revealing the innate passion of the demon race.
"Xiaoming, that's a food street over there! Let's go check it out!"
"As you wish, my lady."
The paladin's exaggerated seriousness made the Fiery Demon Girl smile again. A wave of heat swept over the surrounding flowers and plants as the Fiery Demon Girl smiled, leaving only the Flame Agave alive, which spewed its flames at will amidst the girl's laughter.
