Besides transmitting knowledge, the Blood Curse Tree also serves as an armory, capable of producing cannon fodder. It is likely that after this experiment, it will develop new functions.

Creating the flesh and blood bodies needed for the Andrei Academy liches to travel and helping them taste food is essential, as it's unrealistic to expect Lyle to do all the work alone, given the enormous workload.

With the details of this large-scale research project, which would require the assistance of multiple professors, finalized, Lyle felt that the future looked bright.

"Mr. Dragon, I'll go and communicate with Mr. Crimson immediately..."

"There's no rush to talk to Scarlet. I can help you with that. Before that, you, as the initiator, need to meet someone."

"Who?"

"Dean. Dean of Andre College."

"Dean?" Lyle didn't understand why research that had nothing to do with the Dean needed to be consulted with him.

The scholar standing nearby chuckled, "Although I guessed this was bound to happen sooner or later, I didn't expect the Plague Doctor to need to apply for the position of Dean before even reaching the third level of the Plague Doctor's certification. The youngest record is still that guy Apocalypse who applied at the fourth level, right?"

Mr. Dragon laughed too. He patted the scholar on the shoulder with a loud thud, almost shattering the scholar's shoulder blade, but luckily the scholar withstood it.

Doesn't this mean our students are exceptionally gifted?

The dragon provided the answer to the bewildered Lyle.

"According to the regulations of Andre College, when faced with research applications for major projects, the Dean must be consulted and the Salvation Council must supervise the process."

“Plague Doctor,” Mr. Dragon smiled as he took out the black dragon emblem, “with this successful research, you can probably become a member of the Salvation Society.”

The Salvation Society, the gathering place of Andrei's most dangerous elements.

I got in so quickly?

Chapter 298 Dean's Office

The Dean's office was in a solitary tower in Andre Castle. It was probably one of the quietest places in Andre, as few liches passed through here.

The tower is hollow, with stone spiral staircases inlaid on the inner walls of the columns, but they are as small as scales on a dragon to the central void, barely wide enough for two people to pass side by side.

Thankfully there was a side railing, otherwise Lyle wouldn't have dared to step onto the seemingly dangerous steps.

The entire tower's architectural style is "easily dismantled." Just as its name suggests, it's extremely easy to dismantle. Even Lyle questioned why it's still standing.

One end of the staircase beneath your feet is inserted into the wall, while the other end is exposed in the air, connected by a slender, art-like railing.

As soon as he took a step, Lyle felt the stone steps tilt beneath his feet.

Apart from the exterior walls themselves, there is no supporting structure; it's like a chimney, with the dean's office at the very top.

It's a dilapidated building.

Lyle used Nia to stick himself to the wall and crawled upwards like a crab.

Although it emitted a creaking and groaning sound from the stones and tilted slightly, it did not collapse.

"The magic has adhered to the surface of the stone and penetrated deep inside." This is the truth that Lyle and Nia discovered.

The Dean is a master of enchanting. He is skilled at improving the properties of matter itself. Let alone a hollow tower, even if he built an inverted pyramid on top of a pyramid, it would still stand upside down for me, unshakable by wind and rain, and unshakable by the sun and moon.

Although I understood everything in my heart, I still couldn't control my trembling legs. Oh well, I'll just continue my rampage.

As Lyle slowly advanced, he gradually noticed some details. The stones that made up the walls, although they appeared to be the same dark black stones as the rest of Andre Castle, were...

But by touching and feeling them, Lyle discovered that these stones had no sharp edges, were as smooth as mirrors, and fit together perfectly; if you didn't look closely, you might even think they were a single piece.

In this fantastical tower, the only uneven parts are the grooves that appear on the walls after going up a dozen or so steps, like shrines or display cases? Inside are some half-human sculptures.

Well, half-skull sculptures. Thankfully, there were no soul flames in their eye sockets, or Lyle would have thought he'd stumbled upon the Executive Committee again.

Although the mouths of these stone skeletons opened and closed with a clicking sound, they did not speak.

Lyle saw a line of small print.

“Alexander Crook, a lich, got into an argument with me and had his head smashed.”

Good guy!

Lyle took a closer look and indeed there was a hole the size of a bowl on the head of the skull statue.

You're in a terrible situation, Mr. Alexander.

Lyle finally understood everything. This was the Dean's record wall, filled with his defeated opponents.

Lyle looked up at the holes in the wall that resembled a dense anthill, and his perception of the Dean's abilities rose to a new level.

“Cyril Cusack, who mocked my newly established Andre Academy, I broke his leg.”

Below that, there is another line of smaller characters, and the color of the characters clearly shows that it was newly engraved.

"Poor old man, he was destroyed by the Holy Light. I hope the reason he didn't escape wasn't because of that one leg."

"Otherwise...otherwise I would be very happy."

"This is truly unfortunate news."

Unfamiliar names flashed through his mind, especially the reasons for being hit—all trivial matters: mocking the dean, arguing with the dean, and so on.

Ah, mocking the dean's beard, that might not be a small matter.

“Henry Searle, Issey Kex… Edmont George, Merlock Raymond…”

Lyle blinked and looked up at the indentation with the familiar name engraved on it.

There were no sculptures inside, not even a sculpture of Mr. Raymond's skull, but the Dean had prepared a place for him.

The dense inscriptions on Mr. Raymond's spot seem to express the Dean's resentment, with the entire groove filled with Mr. Raymond's illegal and disorderly conduct.

Below is a line of smaller text.

“I awakened Merlock, and I treat every soul I awaken as my own. But Merlock is the kid whose parents wanted to strangle him. Hopefully, this will help him forget those past events.”

In front of Mr. Raymond's spot is a statue of Edmond George, which, like Raymond's, is completely empty.

"The pursuers of light dwell in darkness... but this guy has become incredibly annoying since entering the academy."

Closer to the room above, there were more empty grooves in the stone walls, most of them engraved with the code names of Andrei's current inhabitants. It seemed that the Dean's blacklist had become a memoir, recording every detail of his experiences.

The stairs led to an entrance in the stone wall, its interior reflecting light. Lyle went in and found himself in a circular foyer displaying a collection of artifacts, arranged around a central room. The lighting wasn't from light bats, but from crystal lamps made of gemstones and gold—so many that they seemed worthless.

Lyle circled the outer perimeter of the foyer but couldn't find the entrance to the principal's office; it seemed there was some kind of mechanism involved.

Thinking this, Lyle's gaze fell on a stone statue against the wall.

He was a short-haired man with an exaggerated mustache, dressed in aristocratic attire, carrying horse tack, and holding a slender ceremonial sword. Don't believe your common sense—the common sense that ceremonial swords can't fight. Heaven knows why a stone sword would glow.

He stood in an ill-fitting recess that was clearly a size too big for him, striking exaggerated poses, with only his stone eyes darting around.

He stared at Lyle, and Lyle stared back at him, until Nia started to yawn, and the standoff ended.

The stone statue began to speak.

Why don't you come over?

"I'm afraid you'll chop me up."

"I am Knight Bysheen, the guardian of the Dean's office. You must answer the password correctly to pass! If you answer incorrectly, you will have to duel me!"

Sure enough, there was a problem. Although Lyle really wanted to complain, he kept it to himself.

Where is the knight's horse? Isn't it an infantryman's?

Lyle quietly took a step back, while Nia spread out behind him, fully prepared.

I obviously don't know the password. Looks like this is a test from the dean. I'll just answer anything and start the fight.

"beard."

Upon hearing the reply, Baisheen sheathed his drawn sword and stepped out of the groove.

As the stone statues left, the steps behind them were revealed after the magic dissipated.

"Did I answer correctly?"

"Go in." Baisheen didn't explain further, but simply let Lyle enter smoothly.

The Dean was sitting in his seat, looking at the new guest. He was still wearing that huge wizard's hat, and his thick body made the seat look tiny, like a giant squeezing into a children's playground.

A clump of golden plant roots sat not far from his hand bones; that was a fake beard.

"Welcome, Plague Doctor. I hope that idiotic statue hasn't gotten in your way."

Lyle shook his head. "No, Dean, I think I guessed the password right."

“There’s no damn password, Plague Doctor. That’s just wordplay by that idiot statue. I never gave any password. If it weren’t for the fact that Bysheen was a gift from my old friend, I would have thrown him away.”

The dean stroked his beard smugly. "But the fact that he let you in shows that my lesson was still effective."

"What lesson?"

“Last time he blocked me from entering my own office.”

“I smashed his horse.”
