Dante's heart skipped a beat as he realized that Li Yili had tricked him into revealing information. However, Dante remained calm and did not get angry. Instead, he became more relaxed and even seemed to be giving up. "I know, so what? I'm not going to tell you anyway. Want to know? Sure, offer me enough benefits first. Let me make it clear, I don't care about your lousy shop."
“This is truly a troubling situation,” Li Yili said, tapping the table with her hand. “Then let me ask you a different question.”
“I will only answer two more questions for you,” Dante grinned. “I just answered your question about where the goods are.”
Anne looked Dante up and down with interest, then crossed her arms and nodded.
"Alright, if I want to take over the Cretaceous Circle, which gang would be the best fit to control?"
"Eh?"
But Ding's leisurely smile froze instantly. His pupils trembled as he looked at Li Yili, and even Annie's eyes widened.
Her hunch was right; Li Yili always seemed to come up with some unbelievable directions.
Chapter Fifty-Four: The Mafia
Dante admitted that he had underestimated Li Yili.
He wasn't a regular at this inn, but Dante knew about it. It had sold hundreds of people, and the innkeeper was a ruthless man who would pull out a watermelon knife and attack people without hesitation. But Li Yili was standing unharmed in the owner's position, declaring that the inn had changed hands, and there was no trace of struggle around, not even the smell of blood.
This shows that Li Yili is also a ruthless person, but! Dante never thought that Li Yili would be so ruthless as to casually say that if I wanted to conquer the Cretaceous Circle, which gang would be the most suitable to control.
Just one question touched a raw nerve in both the Jurassic and Cretaceous regions. The center of the Cretaceous region is the capital, Millennium, where the obsession with status runs deep. Meanwhile, the Jurassic gangs hate it when anyone tries to control them or use them as pawns.
Dante couldn't figure out if Li Yili was serious or playing some kind of trick, but he was really annoyed right now.
Should he give a serious answer, or wave his hand to indicate that no matter which gang you control, you can't conquer the White Cretaceous Circle?
Dante rubbed his forehead in annoyance. "Can't you ask some normal questions? Even if you ask who you can get a gun from... I can accept that."
"Can't you answer?"
“It’s not that I can’t answer that,” Dante exhaled a long breath, turned around and opened the hotel door. He looked around to make sure there were no suspicious people watching him, then turned back and closed the door. He turned to look at Li Yili, paused, and then grinned, saying something meaningful.
"Of course it's the Mafia, both in terms of their history and background."
"It's still ambition."
“The Mafia? Come to think of it, I seem to have heard similar rumors,” Anne blinked. “In the beginning, the Jurassic Circle didn’t have any gangs, just like the Triassic Circle is now.”
"Then a certain nobleman from the Millennium couldn't control his lust and forced himself on a poor girl from the Jurassic Circle, not even giving her the chance to commit suicide because she couldn't bear the humiliation, killing her on the spot. And that poor girl's fiancé and other Jurassic Circle residents who couldn't stand it anymore formed a self-defense force," Dante shrugged and continued, "Just as the Cult of Steam and Steel ignored the behavior of the Millennium nobleman, the Cult of Steam and Steel also ignored the behavior of the Jurassic Circle residents forming a self-defense force."
"The wasteland nobles and the royal family make a lot of noise, but they haven't carried out any encirclement or suppression operations. Meanwhile, the Chalk Circle, which doesn't want to pay protection money to the Cult of Steam and Steel for foreign trade, saw a business opportunity and provided some financial assistance to help the Self-Defense Force grow stronger."
"It eventually evolved into the original gangs, the Mafia."
Dante sighed.
"At first, they really just wanted to protect the residents of the Jurassic Circle from the tyranny of the wasteland royal family and nobles, but now... they're really doing anything."
"Because at the beginning I wanted to"
"The self-defense force, driven by righteous anger to protect the residents of the Jura Circle from the tyranny of the royal family and nobility, was wiped out," Li Yili said calmly, spreading her hands. "They were no longer helpless victims of tyranny; it's only natural that they started doing everything they could."
"Alright, there's only one last question left," Dante said, waving his hand wearily. "By the way, could you please stop asking those terrifying questions?"
"Fine—what's gotten into you, acting like a hero in the Jurassic Circle?" Li Yili crossed her arms and tilted her head.
Dante paused, then fell silent for a moment before slumping his shoulders.
"You seem to want to do something big in the Jurassic Circle."
"Yes."
"Then why are you asking about my personal privacy? Shouldn't you be subtly asking about things that would help you control the Mafia's takeover of the Cretaceous Circle?" Dante quipped. "Like how many mistresses the Mafia boss has, and which one is more important."
"What's it to you why I'm asking?" Li Yili rolled her eyes.
Dante hesitated for a while, then raised his hand and tapped his head. "I must have been out of my mind."
"..."
“Alright,” Li Yili opened a drawer, casually pulled out a key, and tossed it to Dante. “The room is yours. If there are people inside, you can just kick them out.”
Dante reached out and took the key, glancing at the numbers on it. It started with the number 2, indicating it was the key to the second-floor room.
Dante did not go upstairs immediately, but instead tossed the key up and caught it repeatedly.
"What, can't you live with yourself?" Li Yili raised her eyebrows and smiled meaningfully.
"Conscience? Ah~ Do you think this reaction is a sign of conscience? Never mind then," Dante grinned, grabbed the key, walked around Annie, whistled, and went to the end of the road, turning into the staircase on the side.
Anne leaned forward, holding onto the armrest of her wheelchair, her brow furrowing slightly. "A strange person."
“He’s no different from the others in the Jurassic Circle, just with different goals now,” Li Yili said, leaning against the wall and letting out a breath. “But… the Mafia, huh?”
Seeing Li Yili's reminiscing expression, Annie tilted her head. "Mr. Levi Edward Richard has connections with the Mafia?"
“No, not at all. I’ve just heard some things about the Mafia,” Li Yili said, raising a finger and bending it at Annie. “For example, the Mafia even dared to rob the Cult of Steam and Steel. But I remember that three years ago, the atmosphere in the Jurassic Circle wasn’t this serious.”
Li Yili paused, then pinched the bridge of her nose and unconsciously drew out her words.
"Ah~ Could it be that it's another case of good luck brought by someone? I'm really sorry, I don't know how influential I am."
Annie's lips twitched. "I haven't said anything yet."
That's what I really think.
Annie muttered to herself.
“Huh? I wasn’t talking to you,” Li Yili raised her hand and waved it.
Anne was startled and subconsciously turned her head to look at the corridor behind her. If it wasn't someone talking to her, then it could only be Rebecca, but there was no one behind her.
“Is that so?” Annie’s expression remained unchanged. “Then I’d like to give my regards to your friend. I think so too. The good fortune you bring is not just simple luck. The people and groups who have enjoyed the good fortune you bring seem to be starting to act strangely.”
Annie paused, lowered her head slightly, rested her chin on her left hand, and turned to look at the closed hotel door.
“I would never have gone to this extent before.”
"I'm simply... insane."
"Oh?"
“Because I’m thinking about the possibility of controlling the Mafia’s takeover of the Chalk Circle,” Anne said, raising her right index finger and making a circle.
Chapter Fifty-Five: The Buttocks Are Hanging on the Wall
Sunset.
The surging smog erased all sound from the Triassic Circle, while the Jurassic Circle remained brightly lit. Some even laughed heartily, holding bottles of liquor, at the smog that peeked out from the city walls but lingered without penetrating.
With Li Yili's permission, Rebecca whistled as she opened the hotel door. With her hands behind her back, she skipped lightly along the damp road toward the deserted alley. Foucault, who had been squatting near the hotel, immediately got up, but did not follow her right away. Instead, he glanced at Rebecca's back with some surprise.
Rebecca's figure was slender and light, like a veil, as if it could be shattered at any moment by the frenzy of the Jurassic Circle.
After much deliberation, Foucault beckoned, and the other thugs who had been squatting on the ground immediately stood up, propped themselves up on iron bars, and licked their lips.
"What about Dante?" Foucault tugged at his collar.
"He went into the hotel and hasn't come out yet," a thug with a mohawk grinned and sneered. "He's probably worrying about his love letter right now. It's hilarious. Does he really think he can actually woo a rich girl from the white-collar circle?"
The thugs next to them also grinned coldly.
“What does this have to do with us?” Foucault licked his lips. “We just need to get our hands on that rare, fat sheep. Let’s go.”
The thugs around them grinned and laughed disgustingly, following Rebecca at a distance under Foucault's lead.
Some residents of the Jurassic Circle noticed Foucault and his group's formation, but no one tried to stop them.
In this juvenile
A bowed leg is a very common occurrence.
Following her, Rebecca turned into a dark alley. This time, Rebecca's steps were much more hurried, as if she was in a hurry. Foucault and the others were taken aback, and then chuckled.
"Looks like she's noticed us. What a silly girl. Does she think she can shake us off like this?" The man with the rooster-like hair shook his head helplessly and then gave a disgusting smile. "Is she inviting us?"
“How can we let them down?” Foucault licked his lips and quickened his pace.
Rebecca turned into one of the crime alleys known as the Jurassic Circle. Six legs go in, but only two legs come out. Foucault and others often committed crimes in this alley, so they knew very well that even if they caused a huge disturbance in the alley, no one would notice.
"Snapped--"
As soon as he turned into the alleyway of crime, Foucault mentioned something. Looking down, he saw a black women's Doc Martens boot. Foucault remembered that Rebecca was wearing the same pair of shoes.
"So anxious that you even lost your shoes? Ah~ how pitiful. It's a pity that this alley... is a dead end."
Foucault stepped over his boots, laughing heartily, like a wolf cornering its prey.
Soon, they spotted the second Doc Martens boot. Having frequented this crime-ridden alley, they knew all too well that just around the next bend was the end of the alley.
Foucault and his companions could no longer contain their surging desires and burst into laughter as they jumped around the corner. The dim starlight spilled into the dark and damp alley, where a beautiful figure in a jacket and plaid skirt was crouching in a corner, shivering.
Their fragile and vulnerable appearance did not arouse any sympathy from Foucault and the others; instead, it fueled their lust to an unimaginable degree. They even lost the ability to think, tearing at their clothes as they rushed toward Rebecca.
Don't be shy!
Before he could react, Foucault reached out and grabbed Rebecca's wrist, ready to pull her up. But then he felt a chill run down his spine. Dark, stiff wolf fur spilled from between his fingers, and her slender wrist, which seemed so delicate it could be broken with the slightest force, began to swell. Soon, Foucault could no longer hold it.
The other thugs also gradually slowed down and raised their heads little by little.
Sharp teeth, glistening with viscous fluid, slowly opened, exhaled a puff of white breath, and dark green pupils slowly rose and moved downwards, reflecting the bewildered expressions of Foucault and the others.
"Why are your ears so big..." The thug with the rooster-like haircut raised his hand tremblingly.
"To hear the sounds around me better."
"Why are your eyes so big?" Another thug's iron rod clattered to the ground.
"In order to be able to see the prey clearly."
Rebecca turned to face Foucault and the others, her jacket tearing incredibly slowly, revealing wolf fur like spears.
"Why are your hands so big...?"
Foucault felt a sharp pain in his palm, instinctively loosened his grip, stumbled back a few steps, and landed hard on his backside.
“In order to crush my prey,” Rebecca opened her palms toward Foucault and the others, her claws gleaming coldly, “Is your next question going to be, why is my mouth so big?”
"Help!"
"Monster!"
"Mommy!"
Foucault and his companions screamed and turned to flee on all fours, but this alley was one of many crime alleys, and no matter what happened inside, no one from the outside would break in to do justice.
