"12.7, I want to eat it," the cat said, swallowing the bullet whole, since it was smaller than 20.
"Mmm, delicious," Yuri also started eating the snacks, while Senju next to her was reading a book and eating the snacks.
The snacks tasted delicious, and everyone savored them slowly. Although everyone ate slowly, there wasn't much left, and the three snacks were quickly finished. After drinking some water, the three of them packed their backpacks and continued on their way with the cat.
Chito slowly descended the stairs on one side. The path on this floor was also strange, often leading to the top of the building. However, because of this, there were many steps leading to the ground.
Fortunately, they did not encounter any obstacles or damage along the way. After going around in circles a few times, the car finally returned to the ground.
Once on the road, Chito found her way with the cat's guidance and moved in that direction.
After walking for a while, the surrounding buildings began to change, and the buildings turned into factories. Yuri felt a little bored, so she tapped on the armor of the Thousand Hands.
"By the way, Senju, why do you always wear this armor?"
"This is supposed to be something that increases defense, because you need to increase your defense to deal with monsters," Senju replied after thinking for a moment.
"A monster?" Yuri was completely baffled.
“Zombies, skeleton archers, wizards, or even creatures that attack people like the Ender Dragon,” Thousand Hands thought for a moment and rattled off a few terms, though Yuri probably didn’t quite understand them either.
"You've really worked hard," Yuri patted Senju solemnly, as if she understood, and then turned to ask Sento, "By the way, Sento, about this helmet..."
"Wait, I haven't finished yet," Senju thought to himself as he watched Yuri turn to talk to Chito.
"What's wrong?" Qianhu asked slowly, as if he hadn't heard the conversation just now.
"Why are we always wearing helmets? What's the point?" Yuri asked, puzzled.
“I think this was originally designed to stop bullets,” Chito explained to Yuri, but Yuri still didn’t understand and casually placed the cat on Chito’s helmet.
“But nobody’s going to shoot us now,” Yuri thought the reasoning was outdated.
“That’s true,” Qianhu agreed, after all, humans are almost extinct now, there’s no one else here.
“It’s convenient to sit while wearing it,” the cat on the head of the thousand households suddenly spoke up, looking as if it were glued to the helmet.
"Stop it, it's too heavy," Chito complained about the cat on her head, and Yuri took it off.
“But think about it, something might fall down from above, right?” Chito felt much more relaxed and came up with another reason.
"No, no, that's only if you're extremely unlucky; you won't get hit at all. Remember that time when nothing happened?" Yuri countered by citing a previous example.
"That's hard to say, what if something unexpected happens?" Just as Qianhu finished speaking, a screw fell to the ground next to him.
“See, it won’t hit you,” Yuri said, when she felt two flashes around her and then heard a clang as a screw hit Qianhu.
Chito immediately stopped the car, touched his head, and found that he hadn't felt a big impact. Yuri in the back looked pleasantly surprised.
"Wow, that really hit! Chihiro, you're so unlucky."
"Uh," a flash of light followed as a screw struck Yuri, interrupting her.
Just as everyone was wondering what to do, a loud noise suddenly came from above, followed by a shower of debris that pelted down on the three of them. Although a protective shield lit up on the car again, the debris only slowed down slightly before continuing to fall.
Chapter 106 Destruction by Force
As the rain of debris fell, everyone was surprised to find a huge robot suddenly appearing in front of them, with several pipes floating behind it slowly falling down, and the direction of the fall was right in this area.
However, Chito just stood there staring blankly. Sensing that things were about to go wrong, Yuri and Senju became anxious. "Chito, quickly back up, back up!"
"I understand," Qianhu realized what the two were saying and quickly reversed the car. Fortunately, the robot was tilting slowly at first, which gave everyone time to escape.
After backing up a short distance, they saw a football-sized part fall from where the car had been. After backing up a distance, Qianhu drove the car under a building, which blocked the debris of various sizes.
As the rain of parts finished falling, the robot slowly accelerated and crashed into a nearby building. With a loud bang, both of them collapsed.
As they fell, a strong gust of wind blew around, instantly filling the air with dust that covered the cars in a flash.
"Cough cough," all three of them choked on the dust, and the cat followed suit.
After a while, the dust settled, and everyone discovered that the road ahead, forty or fifty meters long, was completely blocked by the robot's legs, while its body lay diagonally on the collapsed building, with many pipes nearby broken.
“I didn’t expect something so big to fall,” Yuri said, looking at the robot lying there. “It would have been terrible if it hadn’t been wearing a helmet.”
“You’ll die even if you wear it,” Chito commented on Yuri’s naive idea.
"This is too dangerous. I'm wearing full armor; if I get hit, I'll die," Senju was still a little scared. It was too dangerous to be under the city; things could fall from above at any moment.
After discussing for a while, the group walked over. The once neat pipes and buildings there had been smashed into ruins, but the robot lying on top of them seemed unharmed.
Upon closer inspection, they realized it looked very familiar. Qianhu recognized it as well, saying, "This looks a lot like that one."
"What was it again?" Yuri asked, looking completely bewildered.
"It's a human-shaped object placed in the dark after you get off the train."
"Ah, that one, it's really big," Yuri thought after hearing that.
"Senju also took some more," Chito said, then looked at Senju. "Do you know what these are?"
"Hmm, this is a combat robot, much more powerful than guns and cannons," Senju replied after thinking for a moment, "but nobody knows how to use it now."
"I see," Chito said and went over to take a look, while Senju and Yuri also looked around.
A moment later, Qianhu climbed onto the robot's body and found a hole with many board-like machines inside. "Everyone, come here."
The two people next to him also climbed up. The three of them stood on top like three bees. After looking inside, Senju realized that this hole should be the cockpit of this robot. There was a seat inside and several screens around it, but now they were all dusty and gray.
"Can we go in?" Yuri asked from the outside. After looking around for a while, Chito noticed that nothing had changed inside. "Maybe we can."
"They're probably all unusable now, but this must be a very powerful weapon, so it's best not to touch it." But before Senju could finish speaking, the cat jumped in.
"Hey, cat," Yuri called out, but the cat had disappeared, so she quickly climbed inside.
"Let's go in and take a look," Chito said, following Yuri as she climbed inside.
"Okay, anyway..." Senju muttered before following him inside.
Once inside, the light dimmed immediately. Yuri, who went in first, exclaimed, "It's so dark."
Lights appeared inside, and everyone realized that they were in a small house. The screens around them gradually lit up, and many icons appeared on them.
Yuri sat down in the seat inside, while Senju and Chito stood behind her watching. When Chito discovered that the machine was still working, she was surprised. "Wow, amazing! This can still work?"
Senju was also somewhat surprised, but he suspected that it was done by the alien cat. After looking around, he found that the cat had inserted its front paws into a power outlet, and the front limbs were deformed. Just as Senju was about to go over and take a closer look, Yuri's voice came from the side.
"What is this?" It seemed that Yuri had touched some kind of switch. There was a series of hurried sounds around her. Senju quickly turned around and saw that Yuri was holding a lever.
A line of red English words 'LAUNCH' appeared on the screen in front of them. Chito, who was sitting next to them, asked, sweating slightly, "What was that just now?"
"I don't know," Yuri said.
A moment of bewilderment followed, and Senju shouted, "It must have been some kind of weapon launched! Please, please, don't let it be a nuclear missile!"
With Senju's shout, a loud noise came from outside, and then everyone saw a cylindrical shell with flames and thick smoke fly into the distance.
"A missile?!" Senju was dumbfounded. The two people next to him also looked over. "Senju, do you know what it is..."
Before they could finish speaking, the missile struck the ground. It exploded with a deafening roar, turning the impact area into a sea of fire. The three of them were stunned.
"Oh," seeing how powerful this weapon was, Yuri became interested in the other buttons as well. "Let's try pressing the others."
“Hey,” Chito tried to stop her, then looked at Yuri and suddenly pointed outside, “Ah!”
Just as Senju and Chito were drawn to her movements, Yuri grabbed another control lever. "Fire!"
"Ah, stop it!" The two people next to her reacted and tried to stop her, but Yuri had already completed her operation. A constantly scanning map appeared on the screen in front of her, and with the surrounding sounds, it finally locked onto a target.
After locking onto the target, the robot's head suddenly moved, and a powerful laser shot out from what appeared to be an eye, instantly piercing through many buildings and turning the area into a sea of fire.
Meanwhile, the three of you in the cockpit felt that the outside suddenly became much brighter. A moment later, accompanied by the sound of an explosion, a sea of fire appeared in the distance, and the room seemed to darken considerably.
As everyone stared in astonishment at the sea of fire, debris from the explosion outside, accompanied by a fierce wind, lashed against the robot, and the three inside felt a strong tremor.
Chapter 107 Humans and Weapons
"Ah," Chito threw himself into Yuri's arms, while Senju behind him clung tightly to the driver's seat. After a while, the tremor subsided.
"Ouch!" the two of them cried out as they lay on their seats. Yuri looked at Chito, who was lying in her arms, with a hint of helplessness. "Chito, really."
Once everyone had a firm footing, they looked outside and saw that all the buildings in front of them were engulfed in a towering sea of fire, and were gradually collapsing under the scorching flames.
"The power is incredible! There are weapons like this?" Chito stared in disbelief at the scene outside, feeling a wave of fear. But looking at the scene, Chito was first afraid, then relieved. "Thank goodness, it's not a nuclear bomb. Thank goodness."
“Hahahaha, that’s way too powerful,” Yuri laughed as she sat there. “Hehehe, hehehe.”
Perhaps because of a mix of shock, fear, and joy, Yuri couldn't stop laughing. Seeing this tragedy and hearing Yuri's laughter, Chito couldn't help but punch Yuri and angrily shouted, "There's nothing funny about this!"
Yuri was punched and fell to the floor to the side, which stopped her laughter. She looked up and saw Chitoge standing next to her with a serious expression. She whispered, "I'm sorry."
Seeing the two of them like this, Senju felt helpless. After all, Yuri had gone too far this time, but Yuri was unaware of what had happened, so he could only remain silent.
"Ah, the car outside," Senju suddenly remembered the car that was still outside. Although it had been parked under a building, he wondered how it was now.
"Ah, my book!" Chito cried out, ignoring Yuri who was standing to the side, and quickly climbed out. Yuri watched her go out and followed.
"Wait for me!" Senju saw the two rush out and followed them.
When the three arrived at the car, they saw some debris around it, but the buildings above were unaffected, and the car was still parked there safely.
Seeing that the car was undamaged, the three breathed a sigh of relief. After taking the backpack off, they looked at the sea of fire burning not far away and felt that it was safer to stay inside the robot.
After Thousand Hands built a small house for the car with blocks, the three returned to the cockpit. At this time, the flames outside gradually rose, as if it were a huge bonfire.
Looking at the sea of fire outside, Qianhu took out some dry rations and distributed them to everyone. The three of them watched the fire from inside and slowly ate their food.
However, the flames did not go out after they finished eating; instead, they burned even brighter, and the originally cold temperature around them became hot. The three of them slowly took off their coats.
After putting their coats and helmets aside, everyone still felt a bit hot, especially Yuri, who was standing there directly under the firelight and felt even hotter.
"If you fight with this kind of weapon, it will immediately turn into a sea of fire," Yuri commented without any sense of self-consciousness after fanning herself and looking at the sea of fire she had created outside.
“This is completely different from our guns,” Qianhu said, looking at the sea of fire and clearly recognizing the difference between the weapons. “Was this also something made by the ancients?”
“There’s nothing to be afraid of if it’s just fire,” Senju said, unfazed by the flames but visibly terrified by the buildings instantly destroyed ahead. “But these weapons are so dangerous! If something goes wrong, we could be blown to pieces without even realizing it.”
"Perhaps the city was destroyed like this by such a powerful weapon," Chito recalled a previous encounter.
Passing by various dilapidated buildings, she couldn't help but speculate. Her words reminded Senju of a scene she had seen before: countless robots sweeping beams of light across the city.
"What? It's all this guy's fault? Unforgivable!" After hearing this, Yuri pretended to be angry and kicked around. "Bastard, bastard."
The two people next to them were speechless. Chitoge lay there helplessly, saying, "No, the problem isn't with the weapons, it's with the humans who use them. After all, someone has to sit on them and operate them to make them move."
“Really? Humans are so awful,” Yuri exclaimed again, her voice filled with righteous indignation. “They’ve destroyed the city.”
Qianhu turned around and pointed at the culprit, "Isn't it you? You just destroyed the city."
