Chapter 16.16. Farewell

"MoMo?"

Su Jian turned her head and saw that Xu Momo was wearing a StellaLou cosplay outfit today, looking energetic and very cute.

“I forgot to add you on WeChat last time, I only remembered when I got home!” Xu Momo took out her phone. “Let’s add each other while we still remember.”

"Okay! Oh, okay!"

After scanning Xu Momo's QR code, a fresh-faced girl's profile picture quickly appeared on the phone screen.

"Su Jian, what are you going to perform today?"

After adding each other on WeChat, they put their phones away. The two of them hid in a corner with the air conditioning on, but they were still sweating profusely.

"Guitar." Su Jian tilted the guitar she was carrying on her back to one side. "To be precise, it's guitar playing and singing."

Wow! You can play the guitar?

"Um... I've only been learning for a short time."

To be precise, I practiced some basics in Thailand and recently crammed for a week, but I only managed to learn a very simple simplified version of a song, albeit with some difficulty.

"And you?" Su Jian asked Xu Momo.

“I’m going to sing a really difficult song, but…” Xu Momo’s expression changed, “Su Jian, I still feel really nervous, what should I do?”

“If you’re nervous…” Su Jian frowned, “then just close your eyes and pretend you’re at home, right?”

"As if we were at home?"

Xu Momo murmured to herself, when suddenly a voice came from the stage.

"Next up, number 66, Su Jian."

"Huh? How come it's my turn so soon?"

Was the order of the labels changed this time before we went on stage to perform?

Completely bewildered, Su Jian hurriedly grabbed her guitar and went onto the stage, not wanting to repeat the embarrassing scene from last time.

……

“I remember this contestant.” Offstage, Wo Zi’an looked at Lu Hanfei. “She almost assassinated our Hanfei!”

A burst of laughter erupted from the audience, accompanied by angry shouts from female fans.

Lu Hanfei simply waved his hand dismissively, but the moment he turned his head, his eyes glared intently at the stage, as if trying to see through something.

The surrounding lights gradually dimmed, and the spotlight shone on the center of the stage.

Wearing overalls provided by the production team and with her hair in pigtails, she adopted a "youthful student" style.

Su Jian, carrying her guitar, walked step by step to the center of the stage, carefully sat on a high stool, and looked around nervously.

Her eyes darted away when she saw Lu Hanfei, but he was aggressive and staring straight at her.

Su Jian swallowed awkwardly, pretending not to see the other person, and adjusted the microphone.

"I'd like to sing 'Farewell' for you all, and I hope you enjoy it."

After a brief silence, the crisp sound of a guitar slowly spread, like ripples spreading from the stage and reaching everywhere.

The sheet music was simplified, and Su Jian practiced diligently for a whole week, which gave her the courage to perform on the show.

"Outside the long pavilion, along the ancient road, fragrant grasses stretch to the horizon."

"The evening breeze caresses the willows, the flute's melody fades, the setting sun shines beyond the mountains..."

After training and hormone adjustments, the voice is no longer the deep male voice it once was.

Su Jian's voice is now as sweet and adorable as a dumpling, perfectly complemented by the melody of "Farewell" and simple guitar playing.

In an instant, everyone felt a refreshing and pure feeling wash over them, as if they had returned to the countryside, strolling on the grassy fields, riding bicycles and smiling in the wind.

Because it was the first time Su Jian had played the guitar in front of so many people, she was inevitably a little nervous and played a few wrong notes along the way.

Fortunately, she reacted quickly and managed to cover it up, so it was a close call.

"Gathering is good, parting is sad, but life is still worth pondering."

"We'll meet again someday, so go without hesitation!"

Three minutes passed in the blink of an eye, the singing stopped, and the guitar finally came to a halt after the last few notes.

The lights in the studio suddenly spread, and everyone opened their eyes.

Su Jian also hurriedly stood up from the bar stool, holding her guitar and showing a "smug" smile like a little sister next door.

This time, the "triumph" was genuine.

Unlike her first performance, which was a complete disaster, after a week of intensive study, Su Jian finally produced a work that was somewhat presentable, which made her quite gratified.

“You’ve made great progress compared to last time,” Wo Zi’an said first. “How long have you been learning guitar?”

"One week." Su Jian scratched her head and smiled sheepishly, "So I didn't play very well."

"To be able to play like this in just one week, you must have put in a lot of hard work!" Wo Zian nodded. "I think you've made great progress this week, and as encouragement, I can give you full marks!"

"Thank you, teacher!"

"Hey! Zian, you can't lower your scoring standards just because you see pretty female trainees~" Chen Qingxue chimed in, "Your name is Su Jian, right?"

“Yes…” Su Jian nodded, tightening her grip on the guitar.

"First of all, your performance has indeed improved a lot, but improvement does not equal the best." Chen Qingxue shook her head. "Compared with other contestants, your strength still needs to be improved, so I can only give you two points."

"Thank you... teacher."

The full score is four points plus two points, which equals six points.

But if you want to pass... you need at least an eight!

However, since it's the semi-finals... even getting eight points might not be enough to make it into the final 60.

The thought of being kicked out of the game and drowned made him catch a glimpse of Ye Xing's furrowed brows behind his sunglasses.

It's all over, it's all over, it's all over...

Su Jian's expression changed drastically, and everyone's attention turned to the last mentor.

"Um……"

Lu Hanfei kept twirling his pen in his hand, remaining silent.

Su Jian stared at the other person, but the thought of this guy wanting to sexually harass her made her subconsciously look away.

"First of all... I'd like to ask contestant Su Jian, am I that scary?"

Lu Hanfei smiled and pointed to himself.

Why won't you look at me?

"I……"

Damn it, you don't know?

They're really pushing their luck!

While cursing the pretty boy in her heart, Su Jian could only offer an awkward smile on her face.

"I... am quite nervous."

"Nervous?" Lu Hanfei shook his head and smiled. "I was just kidding. It's okay, you don't need to be nervous, just relax."

"Hanfei, Hanfei, heart-pounding ruthless bandit, I'll dissect you, open your heart—Ah!!!!!"

The female fans in the audience went crazy again because of Lu Hanfei's "gentleness," and wave after wave of cheesy cheers followed.

Lu Hanfei smiled without saying a word and silently accepted the cheers.

After a moment, he gestured for a stop: "Let's continue. I think... Teacher Zi'an is right, you've improved, but it's not enough!"

so……?

"How about this?"

Bang!

Before he finished speaking, he suddenly pressed the "direct access" button on the table.

This is the button that allows a contestant to advance directly; each mentor only has one chance.

Lu Hanfei's sudden action surprised everyone. The roaring female fans narrowed their eyes and gritted their teeth as they looked at Su Jian.

"I think you have a lot of potential, so I'm promoting you directly! But you..."

He pointed to himself, a wicked smile playing on his lips.

"Join my team!"

Chapter 17.17. The Only Friend

"Oh my god!"

"Why did this woman make Hanfei press the direct access button?!"

"Hanfei? What... what's going on?"

As soon as Lu Hanfei finished speaking, the audience erupted in discussion and whispers.

Wo Zian and Chen Qingxue also turned their heads curiously, looking at them with great interest.

"Hanfei, you can't just not control yourself because our contestant Su Jian is cute and pretty!" Wo Zian joked. "Even heroes can't resist the charms of a beautiful woman!"

"Brother Zian, you're joking." Lu Hanfei remained gentle. "I just feel that my team is missing a player like Su Jian."

After he finished speaking, he raised his head again, revealing a greasy and arrogant smile.

"So, Su Jian? I've given you my full support... Don't you want to join my team?"

"I……"

They were caught in a dilemma, unable to make a decision.
