"Aren't you angry?" Banner asked tentatively.
"It's pointless. We only got that thing to make a place for the two little ones to play. It's gone now, and besides, the crisis caused by your Ultron probably won't be able to harm Earth anytime soon." Diana just turned around and glanced at the two troublemaking scientists. "I'd rather go back and watch that movie about my teammates getting humiliated."
As she spoke, Diana nodded, "That's right, the movie is more important."
Diana left gracefully, leaving behind two bewildered individuals.
“It’s so simple, what were we worried about before?” Banner breathed a sigh of relief and slumped onto the sofa.
Hearing Banner's words, Tony realized that he had been worrying unnecessarily.
As for Ultron?
Let's talk about it when it comes back to Earth.
Chapter 131 Disaster Control Department
Before Tony and Banner could recover, Diana, who had already left, suddenly turned back.
"Tony, have you established any disaster control department with the federal government?" Diana asked Tony, somewhat puzzled.
"Hmm, it seems not?" Tony didn't recall any Federation personnel coming to him. "Besides, Pepper is in charge of Stark Industries right now, so..." Tony rubbed his chin. This was something he was absolutely certain of: Pepper was definitely in charge of Stark Industries now.
And they're here to discuss so-called disaster control? What is that? Is it disaster prevention, or some other kind of environmental organization?
"Looks like I'll have to go see Pepper." Diana looked at this rich guy, who now only had money left, with a rather disdainful gaze. What's more, this rich guy had just given away his big toy to his AI son, oh, and a Tesseract.
"What kind of look is that?!" Tony was quite sensitive to Diana's gaze, completely forgetting how nervous he had been in front of her earlier.
“Just as you thought!” Diana’s voice echoed down the corridor.
Tony grumbled at Banner, after all, Diana's previous behavior was like stomping his face on the ground: "Don't I have any other appealing qualities without Stark Industries?"
Banner didn't answer; he didn't even want to look at Tony right now. He was thinking about whether he should talk to Hulk, so that he could experience what it was like to beat up Black Dwarf and vent his frustrations a little.
Banner, having figured it out, stood up and said to Tony, "I liked something you said to me before. I might need to vent."
Tony looked at his research partner, who had suddenly stood up, with a somewhat bewildered expression, and at the words he had just uttered. When had he ever said something like that? Or perhaps he had said so many witty things that he couldn't remember.
Diana has now left the Insight Building and headed straight for the Stark Industrial Park in Los Angeles.
"Hi!" Pepper greeted Diana happily as she landed outside her building.
He then opened the area on his floor that Tony Stark had previously used to land in his armor.
Pepper was also happy to see Diana slowly float into her office. After all, seeing a good friend at such a time was a pleasant experience.
“We haven’t finished the Stark Tower in New York yet, otherwise I could often come over to your place for meals.” Pepper smiled, but the weariness on her face was undeniable. For Pepper, Stark Industries now didn’t have the time-consuming process of getting Tony Stark’s signature like before.
However, it's just that one step was omitted.
“I really didn’t expect that you would still be so…” Diana paused for a moment before answering, “Tired.”
"I just have eight thousand and one things to deal with." Pepper rubbed her temples, forcing herself to stay alert and making sure these guys wouldn't completely overwhelm her.
Diana looked at Pepper, who was still struggling, and a layer of divine power emanated from her hand as she gently swept it across Pepper.
"Wow!" Pepper felt all the fatigue in her body disappear in that instant, and even her mental weariness was swept away.
“If I go to New York now, can I enjoy this treatment forever?” Pepper said to Diana with a look of surprise. “This is the best gift I’ve received recently, bar none.”
“It seems you’re feeling a bit better.” Diana sat down on the expensive-looking guest sofa.
Pepper also left her desk and sat down opposite Diana, asking, "What made you abandon those two little ones to come see me at a time like this?"
"Because of this." As she spoke, the television, which had been continuously broadcasting the news, switched to the news story that Diana had seen earlier.
Pepper then turned around and saw the reason why her good friend had come to find her.
“Disaster Control Department?” Pepper was a little confused as to why this matter would be brought up, since, to be honest, it had absolutely nothing to do with Diana.
"Did you agree to the federal government's proposed solution?" Diana asked Pepper with some doubt. In matters like this, neither the federal government nor S.H.I.E.L.D. could be trusted.
“Yes, the federal government came to see Tony before, but he was at home tinkering with your big toy and didn’t show up. So they came to me.” Pepper was well aware that these kinds of things, whether handed over to the United States or something else, could very well be used for some bad purpose.
Diana nodded, finding no problem with Pepper's actions. As the current CEO of a super-capital, Pepper wielded absolute power in a capitalist superpower like the United States, but that didn't mean he could simply ignore the federal government.
“Okay, I understand.” Diana nodded. “Actually, I didn’t know how to bring it up. To be honest, I’m a little embarrassed.” A somewhat reluctant expression appeared on her beautiful face.
Pepper was genuinely surprised that such a shy expression would appear on Diana's face; to be honest, it filled her with a sense of novelty. It made her realize that her friend could display other normal human expressions besides smiles and seriousness.
“This is the first time I’ve seen you look like this,” Pepper said to Diana with a smile. “I always thought you wouldn’t show this expression.”
"Emmm," Diana found Pepper's expression rather unacceptable; what did she mean by not showing such an expression?
"Actually, it's because of a friend's request." Diana could only speak to Pepper with a slightly awkward expression. "An old friend who used to help me is now on the verge of losing his job because of this."
“Adrian Tooms?” Pepper said the name without hesitation.
"Wow~" This time it was Diana's turn to be surprised, after all, Pepper already knew without her saying anything.
“After all, a guy who can consistently keep your little villa in perfect condition is no ordinary person,” Pepper replied to Diana’s question with a smile.
Pepper already knew about this man when Diana was still living in the villa. Besides, Stark Industries wasn't without a construction industry.
"so..."
“The Disaster Control Department and we have an agreement that we can designate who will carry out the cleanup work.” Pepper stood up and walked to her desk. “Let me see, here.”
Pepper handed a report to Diana.
The above is a review of Adrian Tooms' engineering work, representing Stark Industries' construction department's comprehensive assessment of his ability to carry out post-war cleanup work.
On the last page, there was also a review stating that the review was successful.
“Looks pretty good,” Diana said to Pepper with a smile. “I owe you a favor, thank you.”
"Oh, I'd be so grateful if you could help me out a bit when I ask you for a meal in the future." Pepper just waved her hand; it was nothing.
“Okay, but I’ll remember.” Diana hugged her best friend. “How about I take you out to eat? I’ll cook for you.”
“I still have work to do.” Pepper glanced bitterly at the documents on her desk.
"Just consider it a vacation for myself," Diana said, pouting.
Pepper thought for a moment and nodded: "After all, Tony could do it before, couldn't he?"
Chapter 132 Killian's Kiss on the Hand
Two days later, seeing Adrian's team steadily carrying out post-battle cleanup, Diana finally felt relieved. After all, she had encountered a version of the stinky bat that looked exactly like this guy, so she figured she might as well help him out if she could.
"Thank you so much, Diana. I guess I can call you that?" Adrian was talking to his subordinate, but when he saw Diana, he patted the man on the shoulder and walked towards her.
"No problem." They've known each other for quite some time now, so she wouldn't care about such a small thing.
After all, Adrian's first job after arriving in New York was to renovate Diana's little house, which later became a fully Greek-style renovation, all of which was done by this guy.
Diana smiled at Adrian and said, "Actually, I didn't play a big role. It was your work ethic that caught Stark Industries' attention. Your professionalism ensured that you were able to secure the post-war cleanup contracts."
Adrian didn't say anything, but he still smiled happily. Regardless, his order hadn't been snatched away by those so-called qualified guys. That made him very happy, especially since he'd bought brand new equipment and hired a few more guys for this project.
Once the orders are gone, the only option left is to compete with homeless people on the street for a park bench.
"To be honest, I never dared to believe that my former employer was a superhero." Adrian crossed his arms and looked Diana up and down at the place where she was now.
Diana looked surprisingly simple today, wearing a black cropped T-shirt and blue skinny jeans that showed off her healthy abdominal curves.
“I don’t think anyone would have guessed that the supermodel-like, beautiful woman was actually a superhero,” Adrian nodded, then said to Diana.
"Okay, I'll take that as a compliment," Diana said, arms crossed. This outfit wasn't something she put together herself. It was bought for her by Wanda and Gwen when they went shopping; Wanda apparently had the same set too.
However, how Wanda knew her three-dimensional information remains to be investigated.
“Of course I’m praising you.” Adrian spread his arms wide in an exaggerated manner, looking incredulous. “You’re questioning my eyes.”
Diana laughed at the guy's antics.
"It's quite a bustling construction site," a slightly discordant voice rang out.
Adrian then saw a well-dressed man walk in, who even strolled over slowly to avoid accidentally scratching anything with his expensive handmade leather shoes.
He was dressed in a white suit, his blonde hair was slicked back, and he approached Diana and her companion with a confident and composed smile.
“It’s an honor to see Miss Prince in a place like this.” The man smiled and extended his hand to Diana. “Let me introduce myself, Aldrezi Killian.”
Diana shook the man's outstretched hand: "Hello."
“I must say, this outfit isn’t quite your usual style, but it’s very hot. You’re a bit like a college hottie, but you’re more captivating.” Killian didn’t let go after shaking hands; instead, he held Diana’s hand and looked her up and down, examining the woman now known globally as the “most dangerous woman.”
Diana never expected that this guy could be so natural in front of her, even more relaxed than her close friends.
What is this? A villain's talent?
“I don’t think this is a place for successful people like you,” Adrian said, stepping out at just the right moment and emphasizing the words “successful person.”
Killian simply smiled at Adrian, then released Diana's hand and moved away from Adrian. However, it seemed he only did so because of the dust on Adrian's clothes.
"I'm just here to get to know Diana, I don't want any conflict with you," Killian said to Adrian with a forced smile, his eyes revealing a deep disgust for Adrian, or rather, for people like him.
"Hmph." Adrian made a disdainful sound with a nasal tone.
But this didn't affect Killian. He simply straightened his pristine white suit and gave Diana a very gentlemanly smile: "I hope that when I see Miss Prince next time, there won't be any unexpected factors interfering."
After saying that, he took it upon himself to raise Diana's right hand, intending to kiss it. However, Diana withdrew her hand, and his expression stiffened. Then, he left with a somewhat nonchalant air. If one ignored his actions of avoiding the surrounding objects, it was indeed a very elegant departure.
But Diana didn't react; she just stared blankly at the back of her hand that the guy had touched.
“That’s interesting.” Diana smiled, like a child who had discovered a new toy.
Seeing Diana's dazed expression, Adrian quickly said to her, "These kinds of guys are all bad news. Stark is a prime example. And look at his behavior; he's not a composed person."
“It’s alright, Adrian. Do you have any disinfectant wipes?” Diana smiled at Adrian. “It’s a bit disgusting.”
Adrian was relieved to see Diana in this state; he didn't want her to be fooled by some scumbag.
Although this possibility is almost nonexistent.
"We don't have disinfectant wipes, we only have regular tissues." Adrian searched around and could only find a regular napkin.
"It's alright, this will do." Diana smiled as she wiped the back of her right hand, even using her divine power to cleanse it first before wiping it again with a tissue.
But for some people, everything that happened here made their veins bulge.
Killian sat in the back seat of his Maybach S450 extended version, his eyes surprisingly displaying the same divine runes as those of the Eternals whom Diana had killed.
