“I don’t know. Only Director Fury probably knows about this,” a technician from the Science and Technology Development Department said to Hill.

They found this thing in Nick Fury's coat pocket, and it had been sending signals to the outside world ever since. A type of encrypted signal unknown to Earth, or simply information they couldn't understand.

Suddenly, a sharp alarm sounded, and the red light of the alarm began to flash in every corner of the Tri-Wing Building.

"what happened?"

Hill frowned. This emergency alarm coming on at this moment was like rubbing S.H.I.E.L.D.'s face into the ground.

With the director dead, does anyone dare to jump out and mess with S.H.I.E.L.D.?

"Something is breaking through the atmosphere and heading towards the tri-wing; it should be... a person?"

Hill no longer cared what was going through the atmosphere towards the Tri-Wing; all she could do now was get the Tri-Wing ready with all possible countermeasures as quickly as possible.

"Has Thor not returned yet?" Hill asked Coulson, who was on the phone.

Coulson put down the phone he had been holding but hadn't answered and shrugged at Hill.

"Be prepared to intercept! S.H.I.E.L.D. is on high alert!" Hill could only tell Coulson to get the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. ready for the worst.

Nobody knows whether the people Nick Fury has brought in this time are friends or foes.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently in a precarious position and cannot afford any further disruptions, especially since anything flying towards them now could be the final straw that breaks the camel's back.

The Tri-Wing Building activated all its air defense equipment, ready to launch the most effective counterattack against that thing.

Even the White House, also located in Washington, D.C., could not possibly have triangular anti-aircraft firepower.

Large and small black anti-aircraft guns were pointed at the sky.

The thing was also slowly slowing down. Although the figure had already shown that she might not be an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D., she definitely hadn't shown any goodwill.

After all, the figure was still surrounded by a rainbow of energy.

According to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s current observations, any single wisp of that energy fluctuation is essentially equivalent to the magnitude of an aerial bomb.

"Please deactivate the energy shield, or we will resort to force," Hill shouted to the figure through the control room.

Where is Nick Fury?

The seven-colored energy around her gradually weakened, revealing a rather attractive face.

It was Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers.

“Please identify yourself, or we will continue to consider you a threat.” Hill didn’t care at all why this woman called out Nick Fury’s name; it was very likely that this person was summoned by Nick through some strange-looking pager.

Carol was a little confused. Did these guys really not realize that if he hadn't been unwilling to talk to them, the Tri-Wing would no longer exist?

“I am Carol Danvers. I think some of you should know me.” Carol landed slowly on the ground, completely ignoring the various defensive weapons of different calibers around her, as well as the Quinjet fighters that were ready to fire.

Hill could only turn to look at Coulson, who had been with Nick Fury the longest, and ask with his eyes who this woman was.

Coulson touched his receding hairline somewhat awkwardly and nodded.

He did recognize this woman, though not very well, but he was certain that she was not an enemy of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“Let’s go out and meet this lady.” Hill had no choice but to trust Coulson, but it was impossible to let Carroll in just like that.

Hill left the control room, keeping Romanov and Clint by his side, and walked outside.

“I think I should be able to lend a hand.” At that moment, Steve walked over. He was no longer wearing the old, circus clown-like superhero costume he used to wear. Instead, he was in a brand-new suit created by S.H.I.E.L.D. for this former symbol of American pride.

“OK.” Hill nodded to Steve, then took the lead and walked ahead.

Now that she's the highest-ranking commander of S.H.I.E.L.D., she needs to understand this matter thoroughly first.

Besides, he has S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most elite agents by his side, so there shouldn't be any major problems.

Carol was quite interested in the now completely different defensive weapons of the Tri-Wing Building, even though she had seen countless technologies, weapons, and civilizations far superior to those on Earth in this universe.

But the changes on Earth are truly a novel experience for Kroll.

"It seems the Earth has changed a lot in the years I've been gone." Carol smiled slightly as she watched the group of people slowly emerge from the Tri-Wing building. "So, where's Nick Fury?"

“Nick Fury is dead,” Hill said to this guy who now seemed not to be an enemy.

Carol paused for a moment, but didn't show much anger or excessive sadness. It was just the brief, fleeting sadness one feels at the passing of an acquaintance.

"Alright," Carroll could only sigh in the end.

This can be seen as her brief tribute to Nick Fury, an acquaintance.

"Who killed him?"

“Diana.” Hill made no attempt to hide anything and simply told the truth about Nick Fury’s death.

Carol shrugged, seemingly unsurprised by the outcome. After all, from the moment Nick Fury appeared, Carol had essentially understood that this so-called S.H.I.E.L.D. agent was not as simple as he appeared on the surface.

"So, you were called back by Nick Fury?" Hill was puzzled, looking at Carol's seemingly indifferent attitude towards Nick Fury's life or death.

Something's definitely not right that a nobody could bring this woman back simply by pressing the button on some kind of technologically modified pager.

“That thing wasn’t originally intended for Nick Fury,” Carroll calmly explained Hill’s question.

"Why then?"

Carroll looked at the slightly agitated Steve and said, "This only proves that Nick Fury didn't take my words to heart and kept that thing for himself."

Steve was about to say something when Natasha stopped him.

Natasha looked at Carol, who had blonde hair, and asked, "Who was it originally intended for?"

"Diana".

Chapter 102 "You're married?"

Natasha learned from Carol that what Nick Fury had always considered a last resort should have actually belonged to Diana. Even though she understood Nick Fury's actions, Natasha felt somewhat ashamed at this moment. However, the fact that her former boss had used such a underhanded tactic still made Natasha feel awkward in front of Carol.

This is completely different from the feeling of being caught red-handed.

Hill could only take a deep breath and calm himself down.

"So, can any of you do me a favor and take me to see Diana?" Carol asked, looking at the group of people in front of her.

Before Hill could speak, the other person spoke to Carol first.

It was Steve Rogers, the epitome of American spirit or a typical American with a great figure, who spoke up: "I can, and I think I should, ask her some questions."

Carol glanced at Steve, then instead of immediately agreeing, she walked closer to him and said, "If you have any ideas, I suggest you put them away, otherwise..."

"How is it?" Steve asked without fear, looking directly at Carol.

It's clear that Steve has forgotten the time he was brutally beaten by Diana.

Carol didn't say anything, but simply pointed her hand at the river, and a photon cannon blasted the river apart.

This is clearly a demonstration.

Steve didn't care; for him, nothing could change his mind.

The tension between the two grew increasingly intense, forcing Natasha to step in and gesture for them to separate.

“Now, I’ll take you to find that person.” Natasha winked at Steve, then said to Carol.

Carol glanced at Natasha and nodded, saying nothing more, simply waiting for these people to lead her to Diana.

Just as Hill was making arrangements for her trip to New York, Pierce, standing atop the Tri-Wing building, took in the entire scene. Moreover, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s surveillance system was far from outdated; he knew every single image and sound.

He didn't have any particular ideas right now, after all, the person those guys were going to find wasn't someone you could mess with casually.

The last guy is still lying in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s morgue. Pierce doesn't want to be the next one lying there.

“Secretary General.” Bald-headed Hitter was now standing in Pierce’s office, awaiting instructions from Pierce.

Pierce simply shook his head, then waved to Sitwell, signaling him to leave his office.

The bald agent didn't care, he just silently left the office and quietly closed the door.

Watching the Quinjet carrying Hill and his group quickly fly away from the tri-wing aircraft and away from Washington.

The people on board the fighter jet made no attempt to talk to each other; they simply flew in unusual silence toward Manhattan, New York.

Diana wasn't feeling anything at the moment; she was simply preparing her two little ones' school supplies.

“Diana, we don’t think we need so much stuff.” Pietro watched as his and his sister’s schoolbags grew larger and heavier in Diana’s hands.

Wanda, standing nearby, kept nodding in agreement; Diana was far too worried about their school life.

"Really?" Diana looked at the large bag in her hand and felt it was a bit much.

But before Diana could even admit the problem, Tony, who was supposed to be delivering school paperwork, happened to see Diana preparing school supplies for the two little ones. He had never seen Diana so flustered and disorganized.

Tony said, "You don't need to prepare those things. Come on, it's good enough that Wanda and Pietro don't bully others. Who can bully them?"

Diana also felt that her actions might have gone a bit too far, so she didn't refute Tony's words.

It was obvious that the two little ones didn't like what Tony said, and Wanda even glared at Tony fiercely.

Tony really couldn't understand what was wrong with these little guys. He was standing right next to them, so why was he the one being disliked?

Tony, who considered himself the godfather of the two kids, had no intention of arguing with them.

It was at this moment that something happened that rescued him from Wanda's murderous gaze.

There was a knock on the door.

Wanda rushed to the door and opened it. But upon seeing the people at the door, her pretty face was filled with confusion; she had never seen any of them before.

Carol, staring at Wanda, was stunned. Wasn't this supposed to be Diana's house? Why was there a little girl here? Diana's child?

But those red hair and lake-green eyes are clearly not Diana's characteristics.

"Is this Diana Prince's residence?" Carol's question was clearly not directed at Wanda in front of her, but rather at the S.H.I.E.L.D. member beside her.

They brought this here, so we can't let something like this go wrong.

Before Hill could speak, she was interrupted by Diana, who had walked to the door.

As the newly appointed director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hill really felt like she hadn't been able to speak normally all day, as she was either interrupted by her own people or by powerful figures she couldn't afford to offend.

“Carol, welcome back.” Diana opened her arms to Carol, who was standing in the doorway, and was about to hug her.

Carole promptly responded to Diana's embrace, and the two women hugged each other.

Little Wanda, squeezed to the side, began to show an impatient expression on her face, especially when she saw the blonde woman's hand starting to wander towards Diana's waist. She couldn't hold back any longer.
