Diana floated in the air and came to Tony's side.
"What happened to you?" Tony tilted his head and saw that Diana's limbs were covered in blood, but Jarvis's scan showed that Diana was not injured at all.
Diana waved her hand dismissively: "He wants a head-on warrior duel with me, so of course I'll grant his wish. The only downside is that he's not very durable."
During her fight with Red Hulk, Diana could easily cause any part of his body to explode or even shatter from the immense force of the impact, leaving her covered in blood. Diana respected warriors who dared to fight her one-on-one and didn't try to protect herself from the bloodshed. However, she hadn't anticipated that Red Hulk's body wasn't as resilient as she thought.
Only then did Tony notice the Red Hulk, whom Diana had flung out, with five small, bloody holes in his forehead. It was obvious that Diana had scratched him with her bare hands.
At this point, one has to admire Red Hulk's physical strength; he wasn't blown off his head by Diana's grab.
"That guy, isn't that Captain America?" Diana wasn't going to pay attention to Red Hulk, whom she had already defeated. She was more curious about the man known as the "American Butt."
After all, being able to go toe-to-toe with everyone is really quite a mystery.
“It seems you know him well too.” Tony nodded.
“Sometimes reading comics is a good way to pass the time.” Diana slowly landed on the ground and walked towards Steve Rogers.
Behind her was a trail of scarlet footprints.
Steve had naturally been paying attention to this woman for a while. The blood splattered all over her body and her ability to fly in the air were proof that she was the culprit who had beaten that big guy to a pulp.
But the next moment, Diana's figure blurred, and she was standing in front of him. Her gentle brown eyes were staring into his eyes.
"Your eyes really do have a hint of green."
Chapter 86: Severely Injured Nick Fury and the End of Ross's Story
Steve was already wary of this woman, and the moment she got close, he launched his attack.
The vibranium shield in his hand slashed towards Diana's shoulder.
"when!!!"
"I knew it wouldn't be that simple." Steve watched as Diana easily caught his attack.
"Not bad." Diana glanced at the edge of the shield she was holding; it was indeed made of vibranium.
Steve astutely seized the moment when Diana was distracted, using the force of her grip on the shield. Steve leaped up from the ground and kicked Diana hard in the stomach, hoping to make her release her grip and free him from his current predicament.
He did kick Diana, but things didn't go as he expected. He felt as if he had kicked a towering mountain, unable to budge it an inch.
"This is impossible." This scene was completely beyond his mind, which was still stuck in the World War II era. There were no such outrageous superhuman beings back then.
While Steve was pondering his next move, Diana had already figured it out for him.
She began swinging her shield upwards, lifting both the shield and Steve. Steve didn't know what Diana was trying to do, but it was definitely something detrimental to him. He decisively abandoned the shield, using the momentum from his kicks still landing on Diana's stomach to roll backwards.
Unfortunately, this was exactly what Diana wanted to do.
Steve had barely landed when Diana, who was rushing towards him, delivered a powerful whip kick to his abdomen. He hunched over like a boiled shrimp. Sweeped away by Diana's kick, Steve crashed through two palm trees before finally coming to a stop and landing on the ground.
Even after landing on the ground, Steve was still like a boiled shrimp, completely unable to straighten up, and could only dry heave helplessly.
Diana slowly retracted her shapely long legs: "My physical strength is alright."
“I don’t think it’s a problem with his physical strength. You were clearly holding back.” Tony, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up. “According to your combat record, that whip kick just now was enough to split this old man in two.”
Tony had witnessed how Diana treated Abomination; even a behemoth like that would only be crippled in Diana's hands. How could a mere super soldier possibly be lying there retching peacefully?
That's right. In Tony's eyes now, the fact that no one died or was permanently maimed after Diana attacked him is because Diana showed him mercy.
Diana wouldn't pay any attention to what Tony was saying, after all, there was still Red Hulk, whose limbs were slowly recovering, as a sample. Diana weighed the vibranium shield in her hand: "This is something your father made, do you want to take a look?"
“No need to look at it.” Tony shrugged. “That thing is just made of really good materials; it doesn’t have much real technological content. But I’m quite curious, though, how did that old guy manage to defy the laws of physics?”
“Talent.” Diana simply answered Tony with that one word.
Diana placed the vibranium shield on the ground, and her divine shield appeared on her left arm.
"Hmm, don't tell me you're going to test how hard that thing is?" Tony looked at Diana's behavior and immediately figured out what this woman was up to.
Diana smiled at Tony, then raised her hand and slammed her divine shield hard against the kryptonite shield on the ground.
"Clang!!!"
The shockwave from the impact instantly swept through the surrounding environment. Even Tony Stark, wearing his suit, was thrown back by the shockwave, let alone the ordinary S.H.I.E.L.D. field agents nearby.
Steve, who was originally lying on the ground retching, was thrown back into the air and crashed heavily into a palm tree.
When Steve looked up again, he saw his vibranium shield flying rapidly towards him. Without thinking, he ducked to the ground and dodged the shield.
As it turned out, his decision was correct. After cutting through the palm tree it had crashed into, the vibranium shield headed straight for the open space behind it, which offered no cover.
The sound of steel tearing apart appeared out of nowhere, as if the vibranium shield had sliced through something hidden there and vanished. At the same time, a Quinjet slowly appeared before everyone, the cut on the cockpit proving that the vibranium shield had just cut into the cockpit from there.
Or perhaps the fighter jet simply appeared in front of Diana and Tony.
It's obvious that there's something there; it's just hidden from view.
"Jarvis?" Tony was curious as to why Jarvis hadn't detected the thing's presence. Logically, anything appearing in the vicinity should be monitored by Jarvis.
"Sir, I'm blocked from that thing's network."
“Okay.” Tony understood now. This was clearly the work of S.H.I.E.L.D., and only they had the ability to cut off Jarvis’s surveillance.
Diana wasn't surprised at all; it was S.H.I.E.L.D., after all. Only S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra would do something like that.
The Quinjet's rear cockpit, which Diana had sliced open with her vibranium shield, slowly opened. A one-eyed man emerged, hands behind his back, still wearing his ever-present black leather coat and his signature bald head.
"So you're not going to use that guy against me now?" Diana said something only Nick Fury could understand.
Nick Fury knew exactly what Diana was talking about, but it was clearly not the best time to answer the question.
“We hope you can hand over General Ross to S.H.I.E.L.D..” Nick Fury pointed to the Red Hulk, who was beginning to transform back into General Ross, and signaled his field agents to approach General Ross, ready to capture him at any moment.
“Tony.” Diana naturally had no intention of letting them get close to her enemy so easily.
“Roger that, ma’am.” Tony gave Diana a rather flippant American military salute, then flew over General Ross and unfurled all his weapons.
“Get out of here, the Insight has taken over.” Tony had already begun marking all the field agents near General Ross on his visor.
Diana gave Tony a rather approving look, after all, the kid was talking about the Insightful One.
Nick Fury is now facing a dilemma.
His original plan was to capture Tony Stark and force Diana to hand over General Ross to them. However, the membrane covering Tony completely disrupted his plans. Not only did he fail to capture Tony Stark in time, he also got Steve Rogers caught in the crossfire.
Oh, right, Steve!
Nick Fury, seemingly struck by a sudden thought, quickly looked at the American buttocks that were now slowly recovering.
Steve rubbed his stomach, still a little shaken. The kick from that woman really hurt. He looked up and met the glint in Nick Fury's single eye. Although he didn't know what the head of the agency was thinking, as a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., Steve still walked towards Nick Fury.
But Diana wouldn't let Nick Fury's little tricks work.
The Lasso of Truth was thrown out instantly, heading straight for Steve.
However, the one who got caught wasn't Steve Rogers, but rather that dark-skinned guy.
Without hesitation, Diana pulled Nick Fury towards her. As the black egg flew towards her, she retracted the Lasso of Truth and delivered a powerful kick to Nick Fury's chest.
This was the first time in Nick Fury's life that he had heard the sound of his sternum cracking—so crisp and loud.
He hurtled headfirst into the exposed Quinjet, lying flat on his back. At that moment, Nick Fury could only pray that someone would save his life.
The fact is, someone did come to his rescue.
Steve Rogers grabbed Nick Fury around the waist, but the impact Nick Fury was carrying was too great. Even with Steve constantly using his foot to brake, he couldn't stop the two of them from flying backward.
It ultimately slammed heavily into the nose of the Quinjet fighter.
Even the Quinjet was knocked back slightly by the impact.
This time, Steve felt like all the bones in his body were broken. He patted Nick Fury on the shoulder, hoping the guy could still move.
Fury, are you alright?
"If your definition of 'not bad' is a broken sternum and ribs, and internal organ damage, then I'm not bad." Nick Fury's voice was noticeably weak, no longer the energetic one he used to have.
"I think you're alright as long as you're alive," Steve said with some difficulty.
"Director Fury." At this moment, the agent who had been following Nick Fury arrived at his side.
They immediately called for a medical team to treat Nick Fury, lest the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. die there.
At this moment, all the field agents stopped aiming at General Ross and instead turned their guns on Diana.
Although some of them didn't care whether Nick Fury lived or died, at least for now, this guy couldn't die here; they needed time to continue their plans.
"Put down your gun!" Nick Fury, thanks to the emergency treatment from the medical team, at least avoided the consequences of broken bones penetrating his organs. He lay on a stretcher and ordered the armed field agents.
"Chief!"
Some people clearly didn't want to just give up their life-saving tools, and reluctantly answered Nick Fury.
"Put down your gun," Nick repeated. Although he was wary of all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, he still needed S.H.I.E.L.D.'s existence.
The field agents reluctantly moved their guns away and pointed them at the ground.
Diana simply stared coldly at Nick Fury without saying a word; she just stared at him coldly.
"Did you do something to offend this lady?" Steve was clearly unaware of Diana and Nick Fury's situation and could only try to break the tense atmosphere in his own way.
“Making jokes can kill people,” Diana said with a strange smile, but she was only saying it to Steve.
Steve wasn't the type to be stubborn; Diana's expression was clearly not a good sign. He decisively shut his mouth. Having just woken up, he didn't want to close his eyes again, especially not forever.
Nick Fury could only sigh, but said nothing more.
He understood that he couldn't take General Ross with him today. He would never see General Thunder again; he could only be a minor figure in this era.
This may have been the very beginning of General Ross's actions, which sealed his fate.
Nick Fury could only mutter under his breath, "Mazefuck." After all, of all people to mess with, why did he have to mess with Diana? Even with Professor X, Nick Fury was confident he could handle things, but with Diana, no one had that same confidence.
In fact, Nick Fury already knew when Diana adopted two of Sokovia's children that this woman, who had never had any weaknesses before, had developed a vulnerability that could be exploited.
However, he dared not touch the two little ones.
Even setting aside the possibility of a one in a billion chance that something might happen to those two kids, the entire Earth would be wiped out. Nick Fury didn't have the guts to take that kind of gamble.
"Let's go," Nick Fury said weakly as he lay on the stretcher.
Hearing their director speak, the S.H.I.E.L.D. members had no choice but to put away their weapons and begin to leave in an orderly fashion.
