Chapter 58 A Mighty Man Falls From the Sky
"Cut off one head, and two heads will grow back."
When Diana uttered those words, a huge storm instantly erupted in the hall. All other topics paled in comparison to the chilling effect of those words coming from Diana's mouth.
Although everyone knows that this woman who resembles Wonder Woman cannot be a Hydra agent, the fact that this sentence appears here clearly tells them that someone is a Hydra agent.
"Senator Stern has probably heard this slogan quite a bit, hasn't he?" Diana still had that same smiling face.
The curve of Diana's smile appeared to Senator Stern as the scythe of death. Despite the chilling realization, Stern, a veteran of Hydra, was unlikely to make any major mistakes.
“Indeed, I’ve been hearing that all the time lately.” Senator Stern glanced at the other senators on either side of her. “Aren’t you the one who’s been letting us hear that? The entire Department of Defense is searching for Hydra. I must say, Miss, you’ve done something good.”
Senator Stern finished speaking and laughed along with the other members of Congress around him.
“Then I’ll do something good.” Diana reached for her waist with her right hand and then threw the Lasso of Truth at Senator Stern.
The golden lasso of truth bound Senator Stern's upper body.
"Get down." As Diana pulled the Lasso of Truth, Senator Stern was thrown to the ground like a puppet on a stage.
"cough cough"
Senator Stern felt as if all the bones in his body had been shattered by the impact.
“This wasn’t part of our plan.” Tony immediately went to Diana’s side, looking at the armed guards around them, and said with some surprise.
"When did we come up with this plan?" Diana countered with a question.
Tony could only helplessly raise his hands, trying to prevent the guards, who were already in a state of stress, from losing their lives due to an accidental discharge of a gun.
He wasn't protecting Diana; he was protecting the lives of these guards.
“Senator Stern, you probably don’t know what this thing is for, do you?” Senator Stern, who had just caught his breath, heard Diana’s voice. “The Lasso of Truth is in a sense the same as your Truth Potion, except that it doesn’t cause physical damage. I believe you are familiar with Truth Potion.”
Stern was not unaware of what Diana possessed, but they were taking a huge gamble, betting that Diana wouldn't act in front of the entire American people.
Now, it's clear they made the wrong bet.
Senator Stern stared at Diana with a resentful look, about to bite into the cyanide in his mouth.
In his view, few people can stop themselves from committing suicide, but they are still just human beings.
Diana had already crushed Senator Stern's jawbone before he could make a move.
"Want to commit suicide?" Diana asked Senator Stern, and the two met eyes, but Senator Stern's gaze was filled with disbelief.
“Colonel Rhodes, come here for a moment.” Diana looked around and found the most suitable person to remove the cyanide from Senator Stern’s mouth.
After all, it's rather disgusting to put your hand into an old man's mouth.
It was impossible for him to do it, and it was unlikely for Tony Stark to do it either. The only person who could do it without arousing suspicion from others was this Air Force lieutenant colonel.
Rhode was a little surprised that Diana had called him over. Although he and Tony were good friends, he was still somewhat intimidated by this person who was clearly not someone to be trifled with.
Although reluctant, he still went to Diana's side.
"Please put down the senator; everything is still negotiable." Rhodes didn't forget his uniform and was still reminding Diana not to do anything rash.
Diana could snap the senator's neck anytime she wanted. At least Rhodes himself couldn't save the senator.
Diana simply tossed Stern from the Lasso of Truth to Rhodes' feet: "Calling you here is actually quite simple: remove the cyanide from his mouth."
Rhodes was a little confused. Why would a senator have cyanide in his mouth? That's something that can kill someone at any time, unless he's doing something shameful.
“His jawbone is already broken, so he can’t bite it open again. But if you want to interrogate him, I’d guess you’ll have to replace his jawbone.” Diana’s casual words sent chills down Rhodes’ spine.
Look at Diana's slender fingers; who would have thought that such delicate hands could have such great strength?
Rod squatted down and pried open Stern's mouth, which was completely agape. With the help of the light, he could clearly see a molar that was distinctly different from the others.
With a gentle pry, he removed the molar, inside which was a suicide capsule.
But this also proves the rose-like woman's precise control over power, ensuring that she did not damage the highly poisonous capsule, which would have been fatal if broken.
Actually, calling it a capsule is a bit of a stretch; it's more like a glass bottle containing potassium cyanide solution, only smaller.
"Everyone, put down your guns!" Rhodes shouted at all the guards. "Put down your guns!"
The guards looked at each other, then finally lowered their guns. Didn't you see all those bigwigs from the Ministry of Defense shut up? Now, whoever speaks gets the final say.
Tony's tense expression relaxed: "Next time you want to do that, at least give me a heads-up."
“Well then, you’d better start organizing people now.” Diana looked up at the ceiling, as if something on it was attracting her attention.
"What?"
"Run for your life."
Just as Diana answered Tony's question, Tony felt the entire venue shake.
"Oh!"
It was as if a meteorite had smashed open the ceiling of the building, leaving a large hole in the ceiling where Diana had been staring.
A burly figure appeared before everyone, like a statue of an ancient Greek god, standing there silently. However, his gaze was entirely fixed on the woman who was looking directly at him.
"Wow, a super strong guy has appeared out of nowhere?" Tony realized at this point that what was about to happen was something he couldn't intervene in his current state. "OK, I'll get on it."
Rhodes was caught off guard by this sudden turn of events; at this moment, no Hydra agent was as impactful as what was happening before his eyes.
Tony shook his shoulder, bringing him back to his senses.
“Dude, this isn’t the time to stand around. I need you to get the guards and everyone out of here,” Tony said anxiously, shaking Rhodes’ shoulder.
"OK, OK." Rhodes finally came to his senses and shouted to the equally bewildered guards, "Get them out of here! Quickly!"
The guards quickly began to organize people to leave the venue. The presence of the two people in the middle of the venue suggested that this was not something ordinary people like them could get involved in.
"You are the one Father God wants?" A deep, muffled voice came from the man and echoed throughout the hall.
This person was none other than Hercules, the hero sent by Zeus to Earth to take Diana away.
"Is this the image of all Hercules in the universe?" Diana was very puzzled by Hercules's bare-chested appearance. He could clearly wear clothes, but he insisted on showing his arms.
What, do you think you can subdue the enemy with your strong muscles?
"Then it seems to be you." Hercules had little patience for the little girl Zeus had specifically requested. He had finally managed to return to Earth, so why would he waste his time on this little girl?
Moreover, upon arriving on Earth, he already sensed the presence of his friend, Thor. Thor was also on Earth; he felt he had to have a drink with his friend.
All we need to do is send this little girl to the realm of the gods in Olympus.
"Don't resist. You just need to go to Olympus. The Father wants to see you." Hercules' voice added a touch of naivety to the big man, but anyone who actually thought he was naive was probably in for a bad time.
Unless you can reliably suppress him.
“Then let him do it himself.” Diana had a good impression of Hercules, after all, Hercules from other universes were her friends and comrades.
I don't really want to fight with this kind of person unless absolutely necessary.
It's not that I can't beat them, it's just that I don't think it looks good to fight a shirtless guy like that.
Hercules never expected such an answer, after all, in his view, wasn't it a blessing for a forgotten god to be able to return to Olympus?
"Do you know what you're saying?" Hercules looked down at Diana. It has to be said that his height of over 1.9 meters and his strong physique did indeed give off a strange sense of oppression.
But what does this have to do with Diana?
“I know exactly what I’m saying.” Diana didn’t back down at all, and as her divine power surged, her armor appeared on her body.
At this moment, the Greek gods of the two universes are locked in a fierce confrontation.
An invisible wave of energy spread between the two, constantly swirling up the concrete blocks that Hercules had smashed when he descended.
"Originally, I didn't want it to be like this." Hercules hadn't been to Earth for too long, and he was getting anxious.
He slammed the hammer and iron bar down on Diana.
"Clang!!"
The clanging of metal echoed throughout the hall.
Instead of a clash between Diana and Hercules, it was another burly, blond man who arrived here.
"Thor?" Hercules looked at the man who had blocked his attack with disbelief.
Thor arrived again.
Thor's Mjolnir was blocking Heracles' hammer and club: "Hello, Heracles."
Seeing this, Hercules also withdrew his weapon, but he didn't understand why this Norse god would interfere in the affairs of their Greek pantheon.
“Thor, you shouldn’t get involved in this. She is the one our Father God specifically requested; you shouldn’t get involved,” Hercules explained to Thor, “You will cause the two races to go to war again.”
Although Thor and Odin were friends, the two most powerful figures in their respective pantheons once fought fiercely over this star system. In the end, Odin prevailed and won this star system, which could be considered their origin.
Thor walked up to Hercules and patted him on the shoulder: "If you trust me, don't say anything now."
Thor pounded his chest with his fist and then pointed at Hercules.
Hercules didn't understand the significance of this, but he still listened to his friend and remained silent. He was also somewhat puzzled by Diana's calm expression when facing his attack. It wasn't an expression of confidence that her friend would block the attack; rather, it was a display of self-assurance.
"Hey! Diana, how long has it been?" Thor laughed and went to hug Diana.
The next moment, he stopped walking.
Diana's Vulcan sword was aimed directly at his throat; one more step and his throat would be slit open by the incredibly sharp blade.
"Ahem." Thor awkwardly lowered his hand and said to Diana in a low voice, somewhat embarrassed, "Can't you give me some face in front of my friends?"
Thor awkwardly scratched his face.
“Listen, Diana, perhaps there’s some conflict between you, but I hope you can go easy on me.” But the awkwardness only lasted a moment before Thor rallied and spoke to Diana.
After all, Diana, who single-handedly slammed herself into the ground, was far stronger than Hercules. He didn't want his friend to die on Earth so unjustly because of Zeus's command.
Given Diana's previous ruthless treatment of Abominations, Thor could easily tell that Hercules wouldn't last a single round.
Hercules wanted to say something, but saw Thor wave him off, so he could only shut up again. He was still somewhat dissatisfied with what Thor had said; what did Thor mean by telling the little girl to go easy on him? He should have been the one to go easy on her!
Diana didn't answer Thor's question, but tilted her head and looked at Mjolnir in Thor's hand: "It seems that you did go and get this thing back after all."
"Ah, yes. It's back." Thor also noticed Diana's gaze towards Mjolnir, then weighed the Mjolnir in his hand and said with a hint of joy.
After all, ever since this guy started following Diana, he had never responded to her calls, and it was only half a month ago that she was able to summon the Meow Hammer back.
"Do you know what conditions Odin gave me for accepting your training on Earth?" Diana suddenly asked Thor this seemingly random question.
