"So, this thing turned into Coulson's likeness before," Keller asked, pointing at the object.
Nick Fury nodded: "The way they talk is similar too."
Keller paused for a moment.
"The woman said there are more of these things, right?"
Nick Fury looked into Keller's blue eyes: "She was talking about infiltration."
"Do you believe her?" Keller asked just as solemnly.
“Look at this…” Nick Fury examined the green humanoid creature.
But a sudden notification tone interrupted Nick Fury's words.
He took out his pager, which only had one message on it.
"Wonder Woman and I were at Fosselman's Ice Cream Co." (This store is real and has been operating for a long time.)
Upon seeing the message from his new recruit, Coulson, Nick Fury didn't take it as a joke. Instead, he quickly bid farewell to his superior, Keller, and headed to Coulson's location.
A similarly audacious idea formed in his bald head: a plan that might completely change the world.
A bold and crazy plan.
I must say there were a few more men in the ice cream shop today.
Of course, all of this stemmed from the beautiful young girl who was sitting by the window enjoying fruit ice cream.
Coulson looked helplessly at the female warrior in front of him who didn't care about his gaze at all, and even had to help her block some male diners with obvious intentions, including a few girls.
"Oh~ no matter when, ice cream is the most delicious thing in the world, bar none." Diana still exclaimed sincerely in the ice cream shop.
No one knows why Diana had such a fondness for ice cream, but no matter which universe Diana was in, ice cream was always the food that could calm her down.
Just like we don't know why so many people like to challenge an old man to a fight...
Hmm...we know that.
“Ms. Diana, I hope you don’t mind my presence.” Nick Fury stood by the table, looking at his new bride’s awkwardness, and was truly at a loss for words.
“This is the Bureau of Homeland Strategic Defense, Attack and Logistics. Unauthorized personnel please leave.” Nick Fury showed his identification directly to the customers who were still lingering in the store.
Indeed, using such an official title is very effective.
Almost the instant Nick Fury pulled out his ID, all the customers in the store left.
Nobody wants to get involved with an organization that sounds like a troublesome organization; if something goes wrong, they'll be the ones who suffer.
“Newbie, remember this. Sometimes you have to do it this way.” Nick Fury looked at Coulson with an air of authority, as if he were lecturing a rookie.
However, Coulson didn't say anything, after all, he hadn't yet adapted to his current identity as a secret agent.
"So, sir, are you Agent Coulson's superior?" Diana asked with great interest the future king of secret agents who had not yet become one-eyed.
"Nick Fury, everyone calls me Fury."
Nick Fury extended his hand, giving what he considered a fairly friendly smile.
“Diana, Diana Prince, daughter of Paradise Island.” Diana grasped Nick Fury’s hand, “and also the goddess of truth and war.”
Nick Fury was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected Diana to reveal her identity so bluntly, especially since they weren't necessarily on the same side anymore.
"Don't be surprised. Although I can't read minds, my power is enough to allow me to reveal my identity." Diana smiled and released her hand. To her, ice cream was far more important than the two not-so-handsome men in front of her.
I glanced at Coulson and Nick Fury again, and they really weren't good.
“Alright, Ms. Diana.” Nick Fury pulled up a chair and sat down. “It’s presumptuous of me, but I need your help right now.”
Diana looked up at the man who now looked so sincere. She silently took out her Lasso of Truth and glanced at Nick Fury.
“Okay, okay. I understand.” Nick Fury raised his hands, then wrapped the Lasso of Truth around his wrists. “Ms. Diana Prince, I really hope I can get your help.”
"Because I don't know what I'm going to face, oh damn, I might even die there..."
Diana didn't hear what Nick Fury wanted to say next, but she had already put away her lasso of truth.
"I agreed."
Amidst the bewildered gazes of Nick Fury and Coulson, the girl stood up, resembling a dazzling star in the night sky.
Chapter 3: The Devastating Strike from the Female Warrior's Equipment
Why are you hiding here like this?
Diana watched as they, having already found the woman, still waited here for the perfect moment to make their appearance so effective.
To be honest, Diana always felt that it was the behavior of a scheming, conspiratorial person.
“Hmm, this method allows people to establish some relatively quick ways of communicating in a very short time.” Nick Fury looked at the woman in the green bodysuit who was asking the shop owner about the photo, felt the time was right, and walked out with his head held high.
Watching Nick Fury walk away, Diana turned back to Coulson and said, "I suggest you don't do that again. I think he'll suffer for it sooner or later."
Coulson could only give the female warrior an awkward smile, unable to say anything. After all, one was his boss and the other was a demigod; being caught in the middle was incredibly uncomfortable.
Diana didn't say anything more, but if someone spoke to her like that bald-headed guy did just now, she would probably just give that person a lasso of truth and interrogate them.
"This is classified information. I will also mark your file as classified."
After Nick Fury said that, Diana also came out from behind. She simply couldn't stand the feeling of watching others perform from the shadows.
As for Coulson? He was just called back by a notice from S.H.I.E.L.D. After all, he's still a newcomer and doesn't have much authority.
Her name isn't "Batman," okay?
"Looks like you've called your colleague, Agent Fury." Looking at Diana sitting there so calmly, she always had a strange feeling.
It's like an eagle searching for prey in its own territory.
However, Carol didn't take it to heart; she didn't think anyone on planet C53 had the power to directly harm a Kree.
"Looks like you've had a tough day," Carroll teased, glancing at the wound on Nick Fury's left eye.
Nick Fury shrugged: "It's not hard. Who told me I'd encounter an alien invasion? I even had a car chase in downtown Los Angeles myself."
"Oh, right. There's also a unique alien green-skinned lizard dissection exhibition."
As Nick Fury walked out from behind the bar, Carroll followed suit, coming face to face with him.
"So you've met the Skrulls, right?"
“Although I don’t believe in aliens, you and that beautiful woman over there, and that thing lying on the dissection table…seeing is believing.” Nick Fury sighed.
Diana tapped the table: "I'm from Paradise Island. Strictly speaking, I'm from Earth, not an alien."
“I’m sorry, my mistake.” Nick Fury said, looking at Carol’s puzzled expression. “Diana Prince, a demigod.”
"Does anyone still believe in this kind of thing these days?" Carol asked in a calm tone, uttering the most unsettling question.
Diana simply shook her head and turned her attention to the intense racing competition on the television in the bar.
“Her situation is very special, even more special than yours. So…” Nick Fury said, as if to move closer to Carol, but seeing the light gradually emanating from her hand, he had to give up the idea.
"It's a bit awkward to say this, but how can I be sure..." Carol glanced at the two people facing her.
“You think we’re also transformed from that green lizard?” Nick Fury pointed at Diana, then at himself. “Please, the person in front of you is a 100% red-blooded Earthling, and Diana is the same.”
"Better safe than sorry," Carroll said.
"So what kind of evidence do you need, and what should I do now? A urine test, or a cytology test?"
“That’s not necessary. Skrulls can change at the genetic level, but they can only read the recent memories of the person who has changed,” Carol said with a smile.
“Oh ho! You want my private information,” Nick Fury said, pointing at Carol.
“And her.” Carol gestured with her chin towards Diana, who was already engrossed in watching.
“Let’s sit down and have a good chat.” Nick Fury walked over to Diana’s table and sat down without any hesitation, while Carroll sat down opposite Diana.
Where were you born?
“Alabama, but I have no memory of that time. You can’t expect a baby to have a memory.”
What was the name of your first pet?
“Mr. Sneeze.” Seeing Carol’s disbelieving expression and Diana’s intrigued look, Nick Fury shrugged. “It is indeed called Mr. Sneeze. You two are making me look like animals in a zoo. Okay, is that all?”
“You’re overthinking it. It’s only just begun. Tell me, what’s your first job?” Carol said.
"I joined the army after graduating from high school and was discharged with the rank of colonel."
"and then?"
"spy."
......
Diana watched the two of them exchange questions and answers with a sense of excitement, a feeling that came from the depths of her memory over the past twenty years, as if she had been involved in some major event.
“To tell you a strange quirk that a Skrull could never have made up.”
"If the sandwich is cut diagonally, I absolutely will not eat it." That helpless and somewhat embarrassed look really made it hard for Diana to connect with the bitter and resentful director of S.H.I.E.L.D. later on.
Seeing the gradual upturn of Carol's lips, Nick Fury understood: "You don't need to ask that question."
“Yes, there’s no need, but I’d like to ask.” Carol smiled. “So, here’s Agent Diana.”
“Me?” Diana looked at Carol.
"Yes, how can you prove you're not a Skrull?"
Diana placed the Lasso of Truth on the table: "Rely on this."
"This? A gold rope that I don't know where it was bought?" Carol looked at Diana in disbelief.
“Uh, this thing really works,” Nick Fury said somewhat awkwardly. “Why didn’t you take it out earlier?”
“I’d also like to know what strange things you have,” Diana said with a smile.
"So how exactly can this thing prove she's not a Skrull?" Carol couldn't help but ask, watching the two people who seemed to be speaking in riddles.
Diana didn't say much, but simply wrapped the Lasso of Truth around Carol's wrist: "You can try lying."
"?" Carol typed a question mark, but still tried, "I am Ni..."
The burning sensation from the Lasso of Truth the moment she opened her mouth startled her.
