"Where is the dragon bone?"
"We don't know. All we know is that the Dragonbone is within the Midtown area, including Hell's Kitchen, which are our targets for investigation."
Diana said nothing more, but simply withdrew the Lasso of Truth.
Madame Gao glared at Diana with hatred, wishing she could devour her whole. But right now, her most important task was to save her own life, or at least ensure that her corpse wouldn't fall into the hands of the two men before her.
At that moment, a large number of Hand ninjas appeared in front of the painting of Diana and Fisk.
"I don't believe you can handle so many people. Even the strongest person gets tired! Killing you and Fisk won't reveal anything about the Hand." After drawing her cane sword and making a feint, Madam Gao retreated rapidly.
When the ninjas drew their katanas and attacked Diana, and when Madam Gao ran out without stopping, all of this came into Diana's view.
Diana raised her arms and slammed the silver bracelets together.
A violent surge of divine power swept through the entire hall, uprooting everything in front of Diana.
The impact of divine power created a massive burst of light and sound, like an explosion.
Even Madam Gao, who was fleeing from the beginning, had her legs severed by the divine force, which also severely damaged her internal organs.
Mrs. Gao stared blankly at the starry sky above her.
Diana slowly walked over, looking at the already barely breathing Mrs. Gao without saying a word.
"I want to know why you helped Fisk?" Blood kept flowing from the corner of Madam Gao's mouth, and her occasional coughs would bring out a few pieces of broken internal organs.
“Fisk won’t drag ordinary citizens into the struggle between the criminal forces,” Diana said, looking down at Mrs. Gao.
"It's that simple." Mrs. Gao smiled bitterly. "Why didn't you come to the Hand? Why didn't you come..."
Before she could finish speaking, Madam Gao had already breathed her last.
Diana didn't want to answer Mrs. Gao's question, since she herself didn't even know such an organization existed.
The protective silver bracelet crackled with electricity, unleashing a bolt of lightning that reduced Madam Gao's body to ashes.
They have the means to resurrect others; they suffered too many losses because of this in the last world.
Fisk then emerged and witnessed Madam Gao's transformation into ashes. He realized that if he failed to keep his promise, his fate would likely be similar to Madam Gao's.
"Remember our promise." With that, Diana soared into the sky.
As for the Hand's five fingers, there are only four left now. They'll come out on their own as long as they still need that dragon bone.
After Diana left, Fisk turned to look at the first floor of the main building, which had been almost completely destroyed by Diana's divine power, and sighed. It could still be repaired.
But his illusions were shattered. Perhaps due to the impact of divine power, the main building's structure changed, and it was completely reduced to ruins.
"Okay, we can rebuild now."
Chapter 24, Part Twenty-Two: Professor X's Visit
Sensing the loud noise in the distance, Professor X, who was already preparing to go to sleep, had to force himself to stay awake.
"Professor, are you asleep?" A woman's voice came from the doorway.
"Come in, Ororo," the professor replied to the woman outside the door, struggling to sit up.
"I'm so sorry, Professor. I'm bothering you so late." Aurora pushed open the door, a rare look of panic on her face.
“It’s alright,” Charles said with a kind smile.
“I don’t know why, but just a moment ago I felt like I completely lost some of my abilities.” Aurora’s hands were still trembling. She couldn’t explain the feeling, as if someone had sliced her body open and taken something away with a heated butter knife.
Charles said nothing; he already knew everything when Ororo arrived. He also saw a man from the direction from which the loud noise came: the renowned philanthropist Wilson Fisk.
“Professor?” Ororo asked softly, looking at Charles who was not responding.
"Aurora, tomorrow is a day off, right?" Charles asked, uttering a seemingly random question.
"Yes, Professor."
“Then you and Scott will come with me somewhere tomorrow,” Charles said with a smile.
“Okay.” Aurora could only suppress her doubts and fear as she left Charles’s bedroom.
Charles, meanwhile, gazed out the window, unable to calm down for a long time.
The night ended and the day dawned; it was another bright and clear day.
Diana, holding her cuddle, was lying on her rooftop enjoying the intoxicating sunshine.
Holding Diana, Gugu squinted its eyes, enjoying Diana's warm embrace, and occasionally shifted its body to find the most comfortable position.
The two, a person and a cat, stayed there quietly, much like George Seurat, exuding a sense of harmony and tranquility.
Until a short doorbell rang, breaking the silence.
"Okay, Gugu. Looks like we have a guest." Diana lifted Gugu up and patted its little forehead.
Charles had no intention of ringing the doorbell again after gesturing for Scott to do so.
But Keith was a bit impatient, and just as he was about to ring the doorbell again, the door opened.
Charles and his two companions were greeted by a beautiful woman dressed in loose white loungewear.
Her long, black hair had wavy curls that gave her an elegant yet slightly languid air. Even loose-fitting loungewear couldn't hide her perfectly toned figure.
"Is there anything I can help you with?" Diana asked, leaning against the doorway. "To be honest, I don't think I've seen you before."
“Hello, Miss Diana Prince, I am Charles Francis Xavier. I am the headmaster of a school, and I have something to discuss with you.” Charles, sitting in his wheelchair, gave a friendly smile.
Diana wasn't unaware of who these three people were, but sometimes choosing to reveal it wasn't a good thing.
“These are two teachers from our school. They came with me, after all…” Charles said after seeing Diana looking at the other two people.
“Come in!” Diana stepped aside and let Aurora push Charles into the house. “If you want to continue sunbathing, I don’t object, but I suggest you be careful not to get sunburned. The July sun is still very strong.”
Scott just smiled and went inside.
Diana rolled her eyes in exasperation; her wonderful vacation had been ruined just like that.
"What would you like to drink? Tea? Coffee? Or water?" Diana asked Charles and the other two as she walked into the kitchen on the first floor.
“Water is fine.” Charles looked around the room with interest. “Miss Prince’s decorating style is quite nice.”
"Thank you." Diana handed the three of them water, then sat down on the sofa and looked at Charles, who now had a kind expression on his face. "So, what's the reason you've come to see me?"
"I wonder what Miss Prince thinks of mutants?" Charles asked after taking a sip of water.
“I’ve heard of it, but I’ve never seen it.” Diana looked directly into Charles’ eyes.
“Auroro and I are among the mutants,” Charles said with a kind smile.
"So what brings you here?" Diana frowned, somewhat confused as to why this guy had come to see her.
Charles put down his water glass, sat up straight, and said to Diana, "We have discovered that Miss Prince may also be one of us, so I sincerely invite Miss Prince to join Xavier College."
"Professor?" Ororo was somewhat shocked by Charles's behavior, since Charles rarely personally recruited new talent these days.
Diana simply tidied a few stray strands of hair and made no comment.
"Believe me, Diana, we are the family you can trust." Charles stared intently at Diana, while simultaneously using his abilities to enter her mental world.
Unlike the spiritual world of ordinary people, Diana's spiritual world seemed to be a divine realm high above the universe, vast yet orderly. Endless star fields surrounded her, radiating an immeasurable divine radiance from top to bottom.
"Have you seen enough?!" The voice came from all directions into Charles's spiritual body. "If you've seen enough, get out!"
In reality, Charles had two streams of blood flowing from his nose, and his eyes were red as he looked at the person.
Scott and Ororo, seeing their professor injured, prepared for battle.
“You’re not a mutant.” Charles didn’t care about his injuries or the urgency of the two people beside him; he simply spoke to Diana in a deep voice.
Diana looked at the three nervous-looking guys in front of her with interest: "Are you only thinking about your own little corner? There are many other superhumans in this world besides mutants."
“I was being presumptuous,” Charles said with a wry smile, shaking his head.
"I want to know why I can't use Thunder again now?" Ororo finally couldn't hold back anymore, after all, the professor said that she could get the solution to her inability to regain Thunder here.
"Use it?" Diana looked at Storm, who was now looking anxious.
Storm simply stared at Diana, her gaze unwavering and resolute.
"I have to say that the mutations in your genes have given you extremely powerful abilities, but have you ever thought about why?" Diana tapped the armrest of the sofa with her right hand.
"What do you mean?"
“It means that due to a sudden mutation in your genes, you are able to communicate with and use certain forces in the universe.” Diana raised her right hand, and streaks of electricity danced between her fingers. “You are not even human.”
The electric light in Diana's hand made the three of them even more nervous, but when she told them that they were not human, Scott was the first to become restless.
Do you know what you're saying?
Diana merely glanced coldly at Scott: "You don't really think you evolved from humans, do you? Even that American soldier who used gene-enhancing drugs is just someone who can jump higher, run faster, and is stronger. Even that Fisk guy that Charles was investigating is nothing special."
"Why should you be able to manipulate these powers that are clearly not within the realm of humanity?"
Scott gritted his teeth but couldn't utter a word.
“So I didn’t strip you of your abilities,” Diana said, looking at Ororo. “It’s just that your genes can no longer use lightning.”
Charles took a deep breath to calm himself. He had considered the origins or history of mutants, but he could never quite bring himself to look at himself from a human perspective.
“So, Miss Prince,” Charles said, raising his head from his contemplation to look directly at the woman whose spirit seemed divine, “are you human?”
Diana simply smiled, walked to the door, and opened it.
"Take care, Mr. Xavier."
Chapter 25 The Princess Saves the Queen
Since seeing Charles and his group off, I don't know if it's because I had such a strong impact on them, but for the rest of Saturday, no other random people bothered me.
Diana originally thought that the weekend would pass by peacefully, and that it would be a perfect weekend if nothing unexpected happened.
But the truth is, an accident happened.
Seeing the blonde woman lying at the door, Diana hesitated only for a moment before picking her up. Unconcerned that the bloodstains on the woman might stain her clothes, she calmly entered the house.
A figure in the distance angrily slammed his fist on the wall beside him. He never expected that after entering Brooklyn, a group of people would block their way.
"Are you really not going to let my men take any targets away?" He turned to look at the men in black suits who were blocking his way.
