"Don't worry, Mr. Li Cheng. This matter is mainly led by Tokiomi Tohsaka, and the action team is only playing a supporting role. I don't think the higher-ups are likely to transfer too many A-ranks to participate in this case, since the security of other areas is more important."

"Okay, I'm coming right now. Ugh, honestly, I can't even have a peaceful holiday..."

After hanging up the phone, Li Cheng looked down. tide, who was beside him, was curiously grabbing Li Cheng's trouser leg, as if she wanted to know what he was talking to someone else.

The thought that the meeting would likely postpone the evening's buffet made Li Cheng feel a little guilty. He patted Xi's head, explained the current situation to her, subtly mentioned the possible postponement of the buffet, and immediately assured her that he would not break his promise.

As he expected, tide was a little unhappy after learning that Li Cheng was going out again without her. However, she only showed a slight displeasure and did not throw a tantrum like a child. Instead, she nodded to show that she understood. This maturity surprised Li Cheng slightly.

So he picked tide up and rubbed his face against hers several times until she cried out and desperately tried to hold Li Cheng's face away with her small, white hands, refusing to come any closer.

"Cheng, you idiot, you moron! Beard, you're disgusting!"

With tears welling up in her eyes, tide protested loudly.

"Haha, sorry, sorry, tide is just too well-behaved and cute, I just couldn't help myself."

After setting down tide's thin, small body, Li Cheng gave her a few more instructions, such as not to go out or tamper with electrical appliances, and then switched the TV to a children's animation channel before leaving.

Afterwards, tide ran to the balcony and kept watching Li Cheng until he walked out of the community and disappeared from sight. Only then did tide return to the living room somewhat dejectedly, lie down on the sofa, and wait listlessly for Li Cheng to come back.

The images and sounds on TV had long since become boring for tide, although she would still enjoy watching them occasionally. But when she was alone in the room, she inexplicably couldn't concentrate on anything. Xi yawned, rolled over on the sofa a couple of times, closed her eyes, and started to sleep.

When she opened her eyes again, Li Cheng was still nowhere to be seen in the living room.

"Uru ru..."

Making a sound that was ambiguous yet surprisingly cute, tide sat up from the sofa, stretched, then jumped off and searched the kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, but couldn't find Li Cheng. She opened the door, but didn't see him coming up the hallway. She ran to the balcony, but again couldn't find him anywhere in or around the complex. Xi became frustrated again, went back to the sofa, and lay down, clearly preparing to go back to sleep.

When Cheng comes back, we're going to a buffet. We want meat, vegetables, soup, and Fujianese food...

As she imagined herself happily eating with Li Cheng in a restaurant, tide slowly drifted off to sleep again.

A strange sense of attraction suddenly appeared at that moment.

Something... something is calling out to me.

I don't understand, I'm not clear, I don't comprehend... But this feeling of being attracted is so clear, as if it comes from my heart, as if it comes from my bloodline, from the most fundamental part of my soul, there is something incomparably intimate that has appeared not far away.

tide jumped off the sofa almost instantly, wanting to follow her inner impulse to find the other person, to discover them, to know who they were, and what they looked like. This impulse was so strong that it almost completely overwhelmed her reason.

But tide hesitated, standing in front of her house without opening the door and rushing out.

I've said before, don't open the door to strangers, and don't go out unnecessarily...

Struggling and hesitant, tide stood in front of her house, unsure of what to do.

The impulse was so strong, drawing her in, guiding her, urging her to completely immerse herself in it. She should have moved forward without hesitation, reaching the voice as quickly as possible. But Li Cheng's instructions, her reliance on and trust in him, prevented her from taking that firm step.

Should tide go out...? Cheng will be angry if he finds out... But Xi wants to go out... That voice is calling to her...

The struggle didn't last long, because the strange attraction vanished abruptly, just as abruptly as it had appeared. tide stood blankly at the doorway, her little head filled with confusion and bewilderment.

What just happened?

Why did I suddenly want to go out? Why was I so impulsive? Why did I suddenly feel like I was losing control of myself?

tide, I really don’t understand.

Familiar footsteps sounded outside the door. Xi, who had been wondering what she had been thinking, perked up and immediately put those unanswered questions aside. She happily rushed to the door, jumped up, pulled the doorknob, and pounced on Li Cheng, who happened to be walking in front of the door.

After all, compared to things she couldn't understand, the most important thing for her simple little life was the man she could rely on, the man she could be cute and affectionate with, and the man who would treat her 100% well.

Just half an hour earlier, at the very moment tide felt that strange impulse, in a deserted alley near her building and neighborhood, a thin black crack was slowly spreading through the air.

A mature woman with deep purple eyes and long golden hair emerged from the black rift. And within that pitch-black rift, it seemed as if countless eyes were peering out.

The woman emerged from the crack and then sat directly on it, her expression a mixture of confusion and bewilderment. She closed her eyes, as if sensing something or searching for something.

"What is it that makes me so uneasy?"

The woman was talking to herself in a low voice.

"It felt like... like another version of myself."

That indescribable, peculiar feeling only started recently.

At first, I suddenly developed an impression of things I didn't know. These were new dishes from outside that I had never eaten before, yet I felt like I had eaten them many times before. Then, some inexplicable knowledge began to appear in my mind, like the rides in amusement parks, the buttons on a TV remote, or the hot and cold water valves in a modern bathtub.

She had never known, understood, or been interested in something she had never paid attention to, yet she gradually began to feel a sense of familiarity with it without ever having encountered it. This was illogical and shouldn't have happened at all. If she couldn't figure out what was going on, she would be restless and unable to eat or sleep.

Therefore, even if it's a slight risk, this is the only way.

Indeed, after leaving this place, she began to sense something, though it was vague and she couldn't pinpoint its location. But without a doubt, the source of the influence was in this vicinity. However, before she could figure out what was happening, she felt gazes gradually converging on her.

Clearly, those beings began to sense her presence.

Tsk.

Although she had ventured out, she dared not linger too long. While she was fearless in the face of those challenges, the place she protected could not withstand the flames of war. She dared not gamble, and could only reopen the rift, quickly disappearing into thin air.

Next time, I must find out exactly what happened.

Across the alley, in an unassuming little restaurant, a handsome blond man put down his chopsticks and revealed a smile that suggested he was about to witness a good show.

“How interesting,” he chuckled softly. “Let me see just how much fun there is on this little island.”

Yukinoshita: "I have an idea. Let's gather a group of extraordinary individuals and see if we can become stronger so that when someone needs us, we can step forward and fight for them. So, would you like to join the Service Club?"

This premise seems pretty appealing, lol. Overall, it's a good novel; feel free to read it if you like.

Chapter 12, Section 55: Tokiomi Tohsaka

"I'll ask you one last time, are you sure you want to go back to him, Rin?"

The day after Kirei Kotomine's attack, standing in front of the Tohsaka family villa, Emiya Mumei stood beside Rin Tohsaka and asked with his eyes closed.

“Although I really didn’t want to look for him, Kirei Kotomine’s ultimate target is definitely him,” Rin said with a sigh of helplessness and exhaustion. “Although the superiors in the action team have definitely notified him, I can’t feel at ease without confirming the situation with my own eyes.”

"Hmph, let's go then. Perfect timing, I can take this opportunity to talk about you, can't I?"

"Gurgle... Hmph, whatever!"

The two walked into the villa one after the other.

"Oh, Rin, you're back."

As soon as I opened the door and stepped into the hall, I was greeted by a gentle female voice.

Wuming looked up and immediately saw a mature woman walking down the mahogany stairs ahead. She was dressed in a slightly antique style and had soft features. Her demeanor exuded obvious elegance, completely opposite to Rin's seemingly elegant yet violent personality. She could be described as a quintessential aristocratic young lady.

"You must be Mr. Emiya Mumei, right?"

The woman walked calmly to Wuming and bowed slightly in greeting.

“Rin must have caused you a lot of trouble, so please allow me to apologize on her behalf,” the woman said, raising her head and giving a gentle smile. “I am Tohsaka Aoi, Rin’s mother. May I call you Mumei?”

"Hello, Ms. Tohsaka... um, no problem, you can just call me Wuming." After a slight hesitation about how to address her, Wuming decided to use a more conservative form of address. Then, he looked up at Rin beside him and said nonchalantly, "Also, although Rin has indeed caused me a lot of trouble, after spending so much time together, I can now barely bear it."

Rin's brows were completely furrowed together.

“Oh dear, I thought Mr. Wuming would want to call me ‘Mom’,” Aoi chuckled, covering her mouth, but then said something that shocked Rin: “If Mr. Wuming is going to call me that, I would be very happy to do so.”

"Mom! What are you saying?!"

Rin, blushing furiously at her mother's explosive remarks, shouted out loud.

"As the eldest daughter of the Tohsaka family, your behavior just now was rather unladylike, Rin."

The next moment, Aoi immediately gave Rin a serious reprimand.

"Yes, yes, Mom."

"Is that what you think? That's wonderful! If you don't mind, may I call you Mom right now?" Wuming said thoughtfully from the side.

"Don't cause me any trouble, you bastard (whispering)!"

With her mother in front of her, Rin didn't dare to shout loudly. She could only reach out and tug at Wuming's sleeve, speaking softly and with dissatisfaction.

“Mr. Wuming is indeed as humorous as the rumors say,” Aoi said with a gentle smile, but her tone suddenly changed. “However, this is a matter that my husband must decide. Of course, I don’t dislike you at all.”

"Rin said something similar before we came here. It seems that if I want to marry this girl, I'll have to have a good talk with the person inside."

Wuming, clearly having anticipated this, smiled and nodded in response. Then, he looked up at the top of the stairs, at an ancient red wooden door. A faint, powerful aura emanated from within. Without a doubt, that was where Tokiomi Tohsaka was.

To feel this level of aura even through the door? Tokiomi Tohsaka, he really is a terrifying guy.

However, Wuming had encountered far too many powerful figures, even those beyond human reach, those who controlled world power. He had come into close contact with several of them, especially a certain golden king who was always working overtime. To him, a powerful expert no longer elicited much of a reaction.

However, the thought that the other party was his father-in-law made him a little nervous, since he had no experience dealing with a father-in-law. Kiritsugu couldn't offer any experience either, since after marrying Irisviel, he had blown up her family, leaving almost everyone alive, although there were complicated reasons for that.

After exchanging a few more polite words with Aoi Tohsaka, the two went upstairs and stood before the exquisite wooden door. Rin took two deep breaths, then gestured for Wuming to stand still. She stepped forward and gently knocked twice on the door.

"Come in."

The voice that came from inside the door was a gentle yet slightly serious male voice.

Rin then pushed open the door and entered.

The room was a fairly large library, filled with bookshelves of all sizes, the books on them showing obvious signs of wear and tear, clearly old books from a bygone era. Between these bookshelves, at a small wooden table piled with papers and various trinkets, a man spun his chair around to face Rin and Wuming as they entered.

"You're back, Rin."

The man said calmly.

Wuming carefully observed the man's appearance: a red, exquisitely crafted suit, clearly a custom-made British suit from the Free Alliance; meticulously combed hair, obviously carefully grown; a uniquely styled beard; and a calm yet serious expression. Wuming clearly sensed that the person before him was none other than Tokiomi Tohsaka, the founder of the renowned "Magic Martial Arts" in New Tokyo Special District and even throughout Japan.

“I’m back, Father.”

In front of such a man, even the unruly Rin Tohsaka put away her usual lively demeanor and became equally serious.

“I heard about the attack you suffered yesterday, Mr. Wuming. I am very grateful for your help. Without you, it would have been difficult for Rin to fight against Kirei Kotomine’s strength alone.”

Standing up, Tokiomi Tohsaka calmly walked to Emiya Mumei, extended his hand, and shook hands with him. Mumei clearly felt the thick calluses on Tokiomi's hand and the restrained power within it. This hidden strength made Mumei think even more highly of Tokiomi; only someone who had trained diligently for countless years could possess such power.
