Chapter Sixty Figo Agreement

"It's fake, isn't it?"

"How could I have never heard of someone like that before?"

"No, I seem to vaguely recall a major event that happened more than twenty years ago that was kept strictly confidential by the World Government and the Navy Headquarters. If we calculate the timeline, it seems to be exactly..."

"Really?!"

On the warships sailing back to Naval Headquarters, the marines were still discussing and exclaiming in surprise about what they had just heard in Impel Down.

A marine asked, "Colonel Garp, have you heard the story of this first director?"

“Hmm…” Garp stood at the bow of the ship, scratching his head in thought. The marines thought he had remembered something, so they all held their breath and waited for him to speak.

suddenly.

"Snoring...snoring..."

A steady snoring sound rang out.

"He actually fell asleep?!" The marines stared at Garp, their eyes practically popping out of their sockets.

*Pop!* The bubble on his nose popped, startling Garp awake. He looked around at the marines staring at him blankly, then laughed heartily, "Oh, this? I think I've heard it before, but I don't think I have. I'm going back to my cabin for a nap. Call me when you get to headquarters."

"You just said something pointless..."

The marines watched him return with a quiet gaze.

When Garp opened his lounge, he was stunned. He saw a figure sitting on his bed, holding his donut bag in one hand and stuffing donuts into his mouth with the other. There was also a chain hanging from the hand holding the bag.

Karp was furious: "You bastard... why did you steal my donuts?!"

“Because it’s delicious,” Figo replied.

“...That makes sense.” Garp nodded in agreement and quickly went over to grab a donut.

One for you, one for me, and a minute later, the donuts were all gone. Garp reached out and grabbed nothing, still wanting more. He paused for a couple of seconds, then suddenly stared at Figo in surprise, his eyes bulging!

Why are you on my ship?!

"Come and have a donut."

Figo answered matter-of-factly.

"..." Garp sensed something was off, but couldn't quite put his finger on it. A few minutes later, the warship passed through the Gate of Justice, and Garp and the entire ship of marines stared blankly as Figo jumped into the water and, in a ridiculous fashion, ran further and further away, treading on the water's surface.

You look at me, I look at you.

Eyes wide open.

……

"What? He went out again?!"

In the Admiral's office at Naval Headquarters, the 74-year-old Admiral Raul clutched his chest and roared in anger. Every time he heard Figo's name, the scar Figo had left on his chest ached faintly.

With a beep, Raul hung up the Den Den Mushi and immediately dialed the Five Elders, quick and practiced.

Soon after, in the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, the new generation of the Five Elders gathered together.

“Gaston Figo is going too far, completely forgetting the agreement from back then,” Raiola Saint remarked indifferently. “The chains have become his toys, and the restriction that he’s never allowed to leave Impel Down has also been thrown to the wind. At first, he was relatively stable, leaving Impel Down only once every few years. But in recent years, he’s been leaving Impel Down more and more frequently, and this time it’s only been four months since the last time!”

What did he take Impel Down for? His own country, his own home?!

The other four did not echo this response.

What happened 25 years ago is a 'humiliating history' that world governments are unwilling to mention.

The Five Elders, the highest authorities of the World Government, were ultimately forced to compromise to some extent with the Marines and sign a contract internally known as the 'Figo Agreement'.

In the contract, the Marine Headquarters and the World Government are to cooperate in covering up the truth, and Figo will be a prisoner who stays in the advancing town until he dies.

This is a fig leaf for the world government.

In return, Mendespen, one of the Five Elders, stepped down early. The Navy Headquarters was to give Doug the highest level of funeral, provide the highest level of compensation to the marines who died in the Buster Call, and create a new position of Chief of Staff above Vice Admiral and below Admiral for Mia to serve!

Meanwhile, Mia will also take over as an instructor in the elite battalion, spreading justice. Countless marines have awakened their 'self-awareness' over the past 25 years, even leaving Marshal Raul powerless to stop it!

Now Figo has repeatedly broken the agreement and turned Impel Down into his private territory, but... what can they do? The previous generation of the Five Elders has already been nailed to the pillar of shame, and they don't want to receive the same treatment.

Raiola Saint always tries to provoke the four of them into becoming the ringleaders, but the four of them are not stupid.

One of the Five Elders tried to smooth things over, saying, "There's no need to keep bringing up Gaston Figo's matter. Twenty-five years have passed, and those marines from back then are either old or dead. In another ten or twenty years, when Figo and Mia, the two key figures, pass away, the problem will naturally be solved."

"There are still decades before Uranus and Poseidon are resurrected; we and our successors have ample time to get the Navy back on track."

“That’s right. Gaston Figo does leave Impel Down occasionally, but he’s only doing small things. We can ignore him and take the opportunity to select some prisoners from Impel Down.”

“25 years ago, even the combined forces of Cheryl Rohringer and Raul couldn’t easily defeat him. Now he clearly still possesses the power of his peak, or even greater. What can restrain him?”

"According to the speculation of the previous Five Elders, the reason he was willing to stop and negotiate back then was not only because he was concerned about the declining strength of the O family and Mia, but he may also have sensed the presence of Lord Im. Since he knew to be afraid, he dared not do anything bad again, and we don't need to provoke him."

Raiola's eye twitched.

He knew it, of course, but he felt aggrieved.

Originally, as one of the Five Elders who managed the Navy and Impel Down, his authority should have been the greatest in some respects, but what has become of him now?

It's all Mendespen's fault!

He hesitated for a moment, then could only say, "Then it's the same as before. Have Kong keep an eye on him and urge him to return as soon as possible. As for the slave ship that's currently sailing at sea, well, let them be unlucky... Also, about that child who went missing from C0..."

……

On the other side, upon receiving the notification, Steel Bone Kong skillfully mobilized his marines and led his warships out to sea. Gazing at the azure sea, he looked somewhat helpless.

Over the years, almost every time Figo went out, he had to lead a warship to chase after him. The Five Elders obviously did not expect anyone to be able to "capture" Figo. They only hoped that the fact that he was Doug's grandson would make Figo have some reservations.

Even after he was promoted to general, it remained the same.

This time, there was a new person on his warship.

“Monkey D. Garp, I’ve heard of you.” Sora said to Garp, “You graduated from the elite class with excellent grades last year and were directly awarded the rank of colonel. In the past year, you have led warships to capture pirates with bounties of nearly 100 million or even hundreds of millions of dollars. You are about to accumulate enough merit to be promoted to admiral. You have great potential in physical skills and Armament Haki.”

"This time, Uncle Figo left Impel Down aboard your warship?"

“Yes.” Garp turned around and pointed, “He ran towards… ah, it seems he ran towards the direction the warship is currently heading… out of the sea.”

“I know,” Kong said. “His route after leaving Impel Down is always the same. He goes to Sabaody first, and he needs a boat.”

"Go to Sabaody...and steal a ship?"

"Uncle Figo possesses an extremely wide range of Observation Haki, covering an area that is estimated to be over a hundred miles in radius. Even on the vast ocean, he can instantly locate and seize slave ships or pirate ships bound for the Sabaody Archipelago!"

One hundred li?!

Garp was taken aback.

……

Meanwhile, on a slave ship sailing on the high seas, the lookout looked into the distance in surprise and exclaimed, "Sir! There's someone, there's someone who looks like they're running on the sea!"

"What?!" The chubby slave trader snatched the binoculars, looked around, and his expression brightened.

"A rare race? A power user? With chains on their hands, are they runaway slaves?"

Looks like he'll be a valuable guy!

"Bring the boat closer! Grab him!"

Chapter Sixty-One: Pirate King

“When the slave ships see him, they have only two choices. The smart ones will run away, and the foolish ones will try to capture him, but either way, if he captures them, they will all be wiped out.”

On the warship, Kong was still explaining to Garp: "After we seize the slave ship, Uncle Figo will be delayed for a while. Among the slaves captured by the slave ship, there are not only innocent civilians, but also some heinous pirates, and even spies and accomplices planted by slave traders."

Uncle Figo, who had guarded the town for fifty years, possessed an extraordinary sensitivity to evil. He would typically choose to release all the slaves, then suddenly order them all back to the prison, using subtle changes in their expressions to discern which slaves were good and which were bad!

……

On a slave ship.

The guards lay sprawled on the ground, and the slave traders were so frightened that they fainted.

Figo opened the cages holding the slaves one by one. Inside the cages, the slaves, who had been in despair and numbness, could not believe that they had been rescued just when they were about to be sent to the Sabaody Archipelago.

Among the slaves were old people, children, strong men, young girls, and a fish-man.

They emerged from the cell, tears streaming down their faces, expressing their heartfelt gratitude: "Thank you! Thank you!"

"My benefactor, what is your name?"

"Waaaaah... I'm saved!"

"Don't thank me too soon." Figo pointed to the cell: "Go back, all of you!"

The sounds of gratitude and weeping stopped abruptly. The slaves looked at each other, wondering what they had done to offend their savior. Many of them looked fearful, wondering if they had just escaped one danger only to fall into another.

Several others glanced at the chains that had been untied from them, a fierce glint in their eyes.

……

“There will always be fools who underestimate Uncle Figo’s ability to take down all the guards by himself and try to ambush him, only to find themselves dead.”

"Uncle Figo would only appease those who obediently returned to prison and were released after another round of screening."

……

"Don't be afraid, you're safe now." Figo smiled as he faced the fearful and restrained freed slaves, whose crime index was all below 3.

"Is there anyone with nautical knowledge? Even a little bit is fine. Let's sail away from here."

The newly freed slaves looked with lingering fear at those who had been knocked unconscious by Figo in the cell. After a long silence, a burly man raised his hand tremblingly and said, "I used to be a helmsman."

"I... I can steer the sail."

"I can row, don't grab me!"

“We won’t lock you all up anymore,” Figo said with a smile. “This luxurious slave ship has its own power source and doesn’t need oars. The guys locked up inside were probably pirates, while you are all just civilians, so you can rest assured.”

You are saved! You are free! You can return to your hometown and continue your lives as before, you can… have no doubt about it!

The voice was infectious; the freed slaves were stunned for two seconds before their eyes welled up with tears again.

The girl is whimpering, and the child is crying.
