Bottom-tier trainers in the Pokémon world

clang!!

A crisp sound.

The sharp wings of the Mk Eagle clashed against the metal scabbard of the twin sword sheaths, producing a sound.

Despite being attacked, the "Sword Dance" with the dual scabbards was successfully executed.

The eyes of the scabbards, which had been squinting, trembled slightly when they were attacked.

Only after enduring the attack did he dare to fully open his eyes.

A hint of surprise mixed with a hint of doubt appeared on his face.

"sigh?"

"Huh? It doesn't hurt."

Its question, falling on the ears of the Munk Eagle, was like saying, "It doesn't hurt, you haven't eaten?"

The Hawk was enraged.

Clang——

Whether the Hawk was enraged or not, the dual sword sheaths didn't know; all it knew was...

good chance!

A phantom of a holy sword, a pale blue color, appeared on the longsword, along with emerald green insect-type energy. The combined attack was a series of holy sword slashes!

Swah——

A few brown feathers fell from the Starhawk's body. Having been stabbed, the Starhawk immediately distanced itself, still somewhat shaken.

A sneak attack?

"Starhawk, Brave Bird Attack!"

Seeing the Mk Eagle overhead, Lei Si saw it was the perfect opportunity to unleash his "Brave Bird Attack".

Seeing that it was instantly covered with a light blue energy, it mustered all its strength and rushed towards the twin sword sheaths.

"A 'Brave Bird Attack' with the 'Sacrifice' ability?" Xia Yan squinted at the scene.

The Starhawk's ability is either "Intimidate" or "Sacrifice". When the Starhawk entered the battle just now, its dual scabbards were not affected, so it can only be the "Sacrifice" ability.

Pokémon with the "Sacrifice" ability will have their moves more powerful when they use moves that cause damage to themselves; "Brave Bird" is such a move.

"Rage!!"

With a long cry, the Mk Eagle crashed straight down into the twin sword sheaths.

"sigh!"

What greeted it was a series of powerful slashes from the double-scabbarded holy sword.

This is the second sword strike.

The phantom of the holy sword, a deep blue color, collided with the Starhawk, which was cloaked in a light blue energy coat, in mid-air.

The intense collision shook the field, raising a light layer of dust.

The two sides were surprisingly deadlocked.

However, the situation soon changed.

Then another huge blue phantom emerged from the smoke and dust, crashing down towards the M'K Eagle, which was stuck in mid-air.

When the Mk Eagle saw this, its feathers trembled.

Hawk: Referee, it fouled by using both hands.

Bang! !

The downward slash slammed the Mk Eagle into the ground, leaving a sizable crater.

Referee: "Starhawk is unable to battle. Please switch Pokémon, Raiji."

Sold out instantly!

In essence, the Starhawk was defeated after taking only one strike from the dual-scabbard.

The swift and decisive defeat of the Starhawk by the dual sheaths caused quite a stir in the audience.

"What a powerful sword strike."

"It's two swords."

"Is this a combination move?"

"Holy Sword plus..."

"Slash after slash".

"This dual-sword sheath is really powerful. I thought he would send out Beedrill."

"But why do the eyes of the twin sword sheaths seem to be... afraid? Are they afraid of the M'K Eagle?"

"Idiot, you're afraid after winning? You're afraid... afraid you'll kill the Staraptor. Yes! Afraid you'll kill the Staraptor!"

"Oh~~~ I see, I understand now, I understand."

"..."

Then, this "top-level understanding" spread from one person to ten, from ten to a hundred, and became the consensus among the audience.

I'm afraid of killing the opponent's twin sword sheaths.

Even some viewers watching the game online received this information.

Soon after, a GIF of two sword sheaths went viral online.

The image shows the second sword strike from the dual-scabbard cleaving down a Starhawk, accompanied by the helpful caption, "Don't come any closer! I'm afraid I'll kill you!"

The dual sword sheaths instantly became a hit.

Of course, none of this has anything to do with Xia Yan and Lei Si who are currently competing.

Lei Si sent out a third Pokémon with a dark expression, knowing that he was probably doomed this time.

But I still want to try.

The last one sent out was a large-tailed raccoon.

Normal and Water-type Pokémon.

A relatively common Pokémon in the Sinnoh region, similar in status to Rattata in the Kanto region.

But the Pokémon that are called Big-tailed Tanuki are not as "weak" as people imagine.

First of all, the characteristics of the Big-tailed Tanuki are quite good.

Its typical characteristics are "simplicity" and "naivety".

Just by looking at these two characteristics, along with its round eyes, you can tell how "pure" this elf is.

cough.

Back to the topic.

The "Simple" trait allows Tanuki to double the power of its ability changes when using a status-altering move.

What concept?

In other words, if you use "Sword Dance" once, the result is equivalent to releasing "Sword Dance" twice, which is quite exaggerated.

Among the regular moves that Tanuki can learn is "Swords Dance".

The "simplicity" trait allows one to ignore changes in the opponent's abilities.

For example, if the dual sword sheaths used "Sword Dance" to increase physical attack power, then the boost from "Sword Dance" will not be applied when attacking the Great Tail Tanuki.

At the same time, when a Pokémon attacks another Pokémon that uses the move "Spherical," the defense boost from "Spherical" becomes ineffective against that Pokémon.

Finally, Big-tailed Tanuki has a hidden trait: "Unpredictable mood swings".

This trait allows a certain ability to be greatly enhanced while another ability is slightly weakened when the tanuki attacks or acts.

If you're lucky, your physical attack power will be greatly increased when you attack, while your special attack power will be slightly decreased.

It's a characteristic that depends a lot on luck.

Based on the three characteristics mentioned above, it is clear that Tanuki is a very useful Pokémon, making it very suitable for ordinary trainers. If trained well, it can certainly unleash its full potential.

The Normal-type of Tanuki and the Ghost-type of Dual Blades cancel each other out once again.

However, unlike Bibirium and Staraptor, Bibirium's Normal and Water type combination increases the damage it takes when facing the Fighting-type move "Sacred Sword".

There are several reasons why Raiji ultimately decided to send out the Great Tail Tanuki.

First, Bikini has some resistance to Steel-type moves with dual sheaths; second, it's because...

He only has one Devourer left to use, but the Poison-type Devourer will be more vulnerable against the Steel-type Twinblade.

So he had no choice but to gamble with the raccoon dog and see if he could create a miracle.

Lei Si had a stern face.

"Big-tailed Tanuki, Swords Dance!"

His bilby ability is "Simple". If he can successfully use Swords Dance, he will receive two boosts, which gives him a slight chance of winning against Dual Blades.

So he was gambling that Dual Blades, as a Steel-type Pokémon, wasn't fast enough to stop Tanuki.

Judging solely from the proficiency in the "Sword Dance" move, the Great Tail Tanuki and the Dual Sword Sheaths are worlds apart.

"Shadow attack."

Xia Yan squinted.

Although he was curious about the characteristics of Raiji, the big-tailed raccoon dog, he didn't want to see.

The dual-scabbards are slow, but they can make up for this weakness with the "shadow attack" technique.

"sigh!"

The twin sword sheaths disappeared into the shadows, and a dark shape approached the Great Tail Fox at an extremely fast speed.

Upon seeing the speed of the shadow, Lei Si's expression changed.
