Bottom-tier trainers in the Pokémon world

Xia Yan has already defeated three people, leaving four in the winners' bracket. If he defeats one more, even if the losers' bracket contestant comes, it won't affect his advancement.

But the remaining four people, after all, have won all the way up, and they are not easy to deal with.

What Xia Yan feared most was Nanami, who seemed weak but had actually become their number one seed on field number six thanks to a Chansey that was almost at the Elite Four level.

Of the remaining two, one was someone he didn't know, who stumbled his way into the winners' bracket semifinals of the group stage.

The other person was someone Xia Yan had heard of, and even had a significant impression of in the original work.

The future Gym Leader of Seaside City in the Sinnoh region, a specialist trainer of Electric-type Pokémon, Electric.

The man later known as "Thunder of the Sea" by Daikichi, one of the Sinnoh Elite Four, was incredibly handsome and quite powerful.

Coincidentally.

This final match, which will determine whether Xia Yan can advance from the group stage early, will see him face Denji.

Although it was the group stage, due to Denji's extremely high popularity, a group of "little fans" had already arrived at the viewing platform next to their sixth court to cheer for Denji.

Denji is from Hama City, and Suzuran Island is very close to Hama City, so many of the spectators at this "Suzuran Youth Competition" came from Hama City.

Furthermore, due to its geographical advantages, residents of Hama City do not need to live on Suzuran Island. They can take cruise ships to travel between Hama City and Suzuran Island in the morning and evening, which leads to an even larger number of spectators.

When Natsuhiko learned that Denji's opponent was Natsuhiko, Natsuhiko almost thought he had become "public enemy number one".

no way.

In the previous three matches, Xia Yan also demonstrated “excellent” strength and quite good tactical “skills”. His opponents were almost all unable to put up much resistance and were controlled by Pokkigu until the end of the match.

The pressure Xia Yan exerted on these contestants was second only to that on Nanami.

In the eyes of the spectators, he was a worthy opponent to Denji.

That's why they want to support the electric vehicle even more.

Denji is still a very confident person. He is not confused by the fact that his good friend and rival, Daiya, has become one of the Four Heavenly Kings. He exudes confidence from head to toe.

Coupled with his outstanding appearance, he is indeed very attractive to young women and even middle-aged women.

"Go for it, Xia Yan!" Nanami cheered for Xia Yan from the audience.

After spending a short time together, the two became acquainted.

Most importantly, Nanami witnessed Xia Yan's "extensive" knowledge and understanding of Pokémon battles.

During the match, whenever Nanami had any doubts or questions, Natsuhiko would provide reasonable explanations and answers under her pleading gaze.

This gave Nanami a completely new understanding of Xia Yan's abilities, so she strongly supported Xia Yan's chances of winning.

"Okay." Xia Yan nodded slightly and entered the arena at the referee's signal.

"Both players, please summon your spirits."

Two red lights flashed. Xia Yan sent out Togekiss again, while Denji sent out a Xenogear.

The X-Rayet cat is a four-legged, lion-like creature. Its face, hind legs, torso, and the back of its forelegs are blue, while most of its body is covered in fluffy black fur. The fur is longer at the base of its shoulders and tail, forming a mane on its head similar to that of a lion.

Its eyes are yellow with red sclera, its ears are round with yellow inside, and its tail is long and thin with a yellow four-pointed star at the end.

It is a very distinctive electric-type Pokémon.

Xia Yan remembered that Denji's ace should be a Raichu.

However, since it's only the group stage, it's normal for them to hold back their full strength.

But that doesn't mean this Xenogear cat isn't strong.

"Meow—" The sound was deep and powerful.

When Xeno'jiiva saw Togekiss, its ears twitched slightly and it slowly took two steps back.

"A 'fighting spirit' trait?" Xia Yan made his judgment after witnessing this scene.

Fighting Spirit: When facing a Pokémon of the same gender, it will ignite a fighting spirit, making its moves more powerful, while when facing a Pokémon of the opposite gender, it will be weakened accordingly.

Clearly, the X-ray cat in this case is male.

Coincidentally, Xia Yan's Togekiss is a female Pokémon.

In terms of characteristics, Xia Yan has the advantage.

However, the Electric-type Luxray is super effective against the Flying-type Togekiss.

In the end, the Electric-type Xeno'jiiva actually has the advantage.

Denji also noticed the change in Xeno'jiiva, but he wasn't surprised because he already knew this would happen. He had his own reasons for still sending Xeno'jiiva.

He remains very confident.

"Battle begins!"

Amidst cheers of encouragement from the stands, the referee lowered his flag, and the match officially began.

"Roentgen Cat, Electric Field."

"Mysterious Guardian".

Sizzle sizzle...

Centered on the location of Roentgen the Cat, bright electricity spread everywhere, and a golden film flowing with electricity covered the entire field, enveloping Togekiss as well.

Electric Terrain is a terrain-based move similar to Psychic Terrain. It not only increases the power of Electric-type moves on the terrain, but also prevents all Pokémon on the ground from falling asleep and from using moves like "Yawn".

This is why X-rays chose Roentgenel.

Because in Xia Yan's previous battles, Togekiss always started with "Yawn," which gave it an early advantage and prevented its opponent's Pokémon from moving, allowing it to easily win.

Furthermore, Togekiku is extremely proficient in the "Yawn" move.

Although I don't understand why there's such a thing as proficiency in a move like "yawning," it is indeed the ability that Denji fears the most.

Therefore, in order to deal with this situation, Denji chose the move "Electric Terrain" to curb Togekiss and Natsuhiko's tactics, while also further enhancing the power of Luxray's Electric-type moves.

The other side.

Pokjigu successfully completed the blessing of "Mystic Protection".

The most troublesome thing about Electric-type Pokémon is the "paralysis" effect carried by their moves. Once paralyzed, Togekiss becomes very passive.

Therefore, Xia Yan's first choice was to use "mysterious protection" to prevent this situation from happening.

As for the "Electric Field" limiting the effectiveness of Tokki's "Yawn" move.

Xia Yan just wanted to say...

The restrictions are well-defined.

To prevent Pokki from getting so caught up in yawning that he forgets what his "main job" is.

Xia Yan's previous tactical arrangements did indeed have a deceptive effect.

However, the preparations for the next round of electricity production did not stop there.

As the electric field unfolded, some bright golden spots suddenly lit up on X-Rayet Cat's body, and a large number of fine electric currents burst out from them, flowing through X-Rayet Cat's entire body and strengthening its defense.

Electric seeds.

A magical item used in conjunction with "Electric Field".

"Here comes Denji's Electric Combination."

"Rondo is the strongest in the Electric Field!"

"That Togekiss's 'Yawn' ability is no longer working!"

"..."

Those familiar with Denji seem quite familiar with this combination, indicating it's one of Denji's signature tactics. He had already used his true strength against Natsuhiko.

Both sides used defensive moves to prepare for the first time before engaging in a real, intense battle.

"Röntgen Cat, Lightning."

sizzle-

A dense, fibrous current enveloped Roentgenie's entire body, and its four limbs swiftly charged towards Togekiss.

Without the hindrance of the "Yawn" move, Denji can now unleash Xeno'jiiva's full attack power.

However, a cunning glint flashed in Togekiss's eyes when it saw the X-Rayet charging towards it.

“Cha-ke-yi—”

With a flexion of its arms, an invisible attack was unleashed from its body.

Supernatural powers!

Luxray collided headfirst with Togekiss's Psychic Power, triggering its "Serene Grace" ability and an additional effect that caused Luxray to fall into a "Coward" state.

The impact of Corviknight's all-out charge did not stop there; it only came to a halt when it reached Togekiss.

Xia Yan frowned slightly upon seeing this.

This Xenogear cat in Denji has a very strong will.

This was the first time Pokkigu had ever seen anything like this.

After all, the wild Pokémon they had encountered before, whenever their additional effects were triggered, would become "cowardly" and unable to move.

This is the difference between real battles in the wild and battles with trainers.

Trainers will conduct special training on the Pokémon's abilities, and no one knows whether willpower is included in that training.

Fortunately, the X-Rayet cat stopped.

But it also successfully made Xia Yan realize some of his own problems.

It relies too much on the abilities of the moves themselves, while neglecting to cultivate Togekiss in this aspect.

This discovery is also a good thing, as it allows Xia Yan to more accurately determine the direction for training Pokkigu.

"Pull it open, act cute."

Instead of launching an attack, she chose to let Togekigu create some distance, and once she was at a safe distance, she used her charm move.

Tokiji shook its little head, temporarily putting aside the surprise from before, and winked playfully at Röntgen, who had struggled out of its "cowardly" state, revealing a pitiful look.

Denji's expression was also somewhat serious at this moment.
