Xia Zuo looked up, and the white dots in the sky rapidly enlarged, revealing three huge white airbags side by side, and pods hanging below them.
He recognized the vehicle immediately.
Airship.
They were going to travel to the Eastern Continent by airship.
Bi Cui led the students in an arc through the sky, changing from vertical upward flight to horizontal flight, passing through the light blue barrier around the airship, and flying towards the open gondola door.
The moment his feet touched the floor of the gondola, Xia Zuo glanced back at the scene outside.
The endless forests and mountains stretch to the horizon, white clouds drift slowly, and the stars in the sky seem within reach.
Anru braced her arms against the hatch, cautiously peering down at the ground below. She took a few steps back, then curiously peeked forward again.
She covered her mouth, muttering incredulously, "We...are in the sky?"
Xia Zuo cast a detection spell on the surrounding walls, round windows, floor, ceiling, and beams, and without exception, they were all master-level artifacts of rare alchemy, made with expensive enchanted materials.
Beatrice looked at the students with a smile and said:
"This is a transoceanic airship; someone will give you a detailed introduction later."
She clasped her hands together and held them in front of her as she gazed at her students.
“Xia Zuo, An Ru’er, it’s time for us to say goodbye. After you arrive in the Eastern Continent, you may never return here. You will live in the Eastern Continent as islanders of Star Night Island, not as people of the Western Continent. I hope you will remember the place where you were born and raised, as well as the people and things you have met here.”
“Professor Beatrice…” Anru’er choked up a little, wiped her eyes with her fingers, stepped forward and hugged her gently. She had only studied under Beatrice for a little over a year, but Beatrice’s charm was amazing, and it was easy for Anru’er to develop feelings for her.
Beatrice gently patted Anru's back, whispered a few comforting words in her ear, and then pointed to the lever not far away, "Go in quickly, someone is waiting for you."
"Professor, please take care." Xia Zuo bowed to Beatrice in farewell, then pulled Anruer, whose eyes were red-rimmed, toward the lever.
He reached out and placed his hand on the lever, looking at the figure at the hatch. "Professor, we're going in."
"Okay, go ahead. I can't stay away from the academy for too long, so I'll head back now. Have a safe trip."
Beatrice's long hair fluttered in the wind, the deep night sky becoming an eternal backdrop, her graceful curves frozen in time.
She raised her right arm and waved, then pulled the lever beside her with her other hand, leaping out of the cabin before the door closed.
Xia Zuo coughed lightly, holding back the tears welling up in his eyes, and pulled down the lever in his hand.
The wooden door in front of them slid open to the left, revealing a luxurious and elegant corridor.
The reddish-brown wooden floor exuded a subtle fragrance. As the airship drifted by, there were no creaking or twisting sounds coming from the floor and walls, as if one were in a manor rather than a gondola suspended below a giant airbag.
To the right is a floor-to-ceiling window made of large panes of glass, offering a panoramic view of the clouds and the earth. On the left wall hangs a painting of the sky and a wooden sculpture of an airship.
A graceful lady with bright green eyes stood smiling in the corridor.
This is Sylvia, whom I met once before; she is the messenger of Lady Starry Night.
She was the one who hosted the Xia Zuo test when he was tested by the inspection team about 10 years ago.
Sylvia was no longer wearing the old-fashioned black robe, but a light green, flowing dress that reached her ankles. The cuffs, collar, and chest were adorned with lace, which made her look even more dignified.
Xia Zuo gently patted An Ru'er's back and said humbly:
"It's an honor to meet you, Ms. Sylvia. Please take good care of me on my journey to the Eastern Continent."
Anru also bowed politely, "Hello, Ms. Sylvia, it's a pleasure to meet you. I am Anru."
Sylvia stretched her arm into the depths of the corridor and said in a gentle voice:
"Don't be so formal, relax. Just call me Sylvia. From today onwards, we're colleagues. Come with me, and I'll introduce you to the airship."
The airship's airbags and gondolas are the main structure of the science of giant creation. The interior decorations were created by two other disciplines of magical alchemy.
The three of them were currently on the lowest level, which was divided into two areas—the cockpit and the storage compartment.
With Sylvia's company, Xia Zuo and Anru met Captain Ento Rimes, who piloted the transoceanic airship.
Captain Remes is a high-ranking mage, proficient in detection and defense techniques.
He is also a master-level alchemist specializing in rare artifacts.
His crew consisted of elemental servants that he created and maintained himself, and they completed hundreds of voyages across the ocean and between the eastern and western continents.
They are definitely highly experienced.
Captain Ento Remes, dressed in blue and white striped overalls, waved to the three figures in the corridor before getting to control the airship.
The airship's control panel was exactly as Xia Zuo had envisioned. Hundreds of buttons were arranged on a wooden panel, each with instructions relayed by a blueprint executor.
Sylvia said softly from the side, "Gentlemen, let's go up to the next level. Let's not disturb Captain Remes piloting the airship. The mission to cross the ocean is very difficult; extreme storms can cause the airship to deviate from its course by thousands of kilometers."
She held up her index finger to her lips, stopping Xia Zuo from asking a question, and led the two into the stairwell, saying:
“I know what you want to ask. In a few days, once the airship has sailed into the depths of the ocean, you will witness the appearance of the Extreme Storm. This storm is extremely violent and never stops, blocking all ships traveling from the Eastern Continent to the Western Continent. Only by flying over the storm and passing through areas with relatively calm air currents can you cross it.”
Sylvia opened the door at the end of the stairs and stepped into the spacious second floor, which housed the activity room and dining room.
The bay window, which surrounds the entire floor, brings the beautiful night sky outside right before your eyes.
The elemental servants, serving as bartenders, stood quietly behind the bar. Tables and chairs were fixed to the floor. The place was empty; no one lingered there.
"The other passengers on the ship are all in cabins on the third floor. You two will share a cabin; I'll take you there now."
Sylvia led the two to a brief stop on the second floor, explaining how to use the activity room and restaurant, before heading to the third floor.
The three walked through the corridor and arrived at the middle of the corridor. On the right was a bay window with a night view, and on the left was the door.
"Space is limited on the transoceanic airship, so the double cabins are only slightly larger than the single cabins. I hope you don't mind."
Sylvia pulled two keys from her pocket. "These are the room keys. Go inside and rest. We'll meet in the restaurant at 8 a.m. tomorrow."
"Thank you, Sylvia." Xia Zuo nodded with a smile in thanks.
Sylvia nodded in response, walked back to the stairwell, opened her bedroom door, and went inside.
At the far end of Xia Zuo and An Ru'er's room was a huge floor-to-ceiling window. From the entrance to the window, there was a washroom, a dressing room, a double bed, a coffee table, and a sofa.
The room style is much more modern than the university dormitories, not to mention the hotels outside the university; it's like they're from a completely different century.
Xia Zuo reached out and brushed his hand across the mattress of the bed, carefully examining the style of the beige lace curtains and the brightly colored paintings on the wall.
He took out several pieces of Federation-style clothing from the alchemy pouch Beatrice had given him.
The uniform consisted of white shirts, black vests, and matching trousers, paired with formal jackets of varying lengths, and several pairs of spare dark brown leather shoes. These outfits were also enchanted to make them dirt-resistant and provide some resistance to the four elements.
As we had learned before, the cultural background, aesthetic style, and technological level of the Silver Moon Federation were roughly equivalent to the Western world in the early 20th century of the previous world.
"Darling, do you think I look good dressed like this?" Anru'er's voice came from behind.
Xia Zuo turned around in front of the bay window and saw a figure wearing a plaid long skirt and round-toed leather shoes walking towards her, with white socks on her feet faintly visible.
"What are you wearing underneath..." Xia Zuo was stunned when he saw the smooth white fabric.
“Hmm~” Anru’er lifted her skirt and twirled around in place. “My mentor said these are silk pantyhose. They’re very comfortable to wear and fit very well. There are different materials and thicknesses to choose from. You can wear silk in the summer and cotton fleece in the winter. You have to wear them with a long skirt or trousers.”
"Hehe... Do you have other colors?" Xia Zuo asked, rubbing his hands together.
"I'll go take a look." Anru glanced at her boyfriend, who had a strange expression, and walked to the bedside to rummage through her handbag. "White, black, gray, and skin-toned ones."
"Wear black." Xia Zuo whispered a few words in her ear, and An Ru'er blushed to the roots of her ears.
...
The next morning.
The first night on the airship went smoothly without any unexpected incidents such as a crash. The only problem was that the bed was shaking quite a bit, but fortunately the room was well soundproofed, so it didn't disturb the other people.
Xia Zuo woke up, washed up, tidied up the messy room, called the sleepy Anruer, changed into Federation clothes, and went to the restaurant on the second floor together.
They had a simple breakfast in the air and waited a short while before Sylvia arrived.
Sylvia was still dressed in a light, long dress.
Walking beside her was Nina, dressed in a soft armored long dress. Her ceremonial armor combined the styles of the Fourth and Fifth Ages and was the standard attire for female members of the Mage Temple.
Seeing Xia Zuo and Anru'er's attire, Sylvia smiled and said, "The clothes fit perfectly. You're adapting quite well."
She introduced Nina's identity to Anruer, then sat down at the table and asked the two of them to produce their identity documents.
Documents need to be stamped by the Temple of the Mage to be valid.
There happened to be a member of the Mage Temple right in front of me.
Nina carefully read the contents of the document, and after confirming that the signature was clear and neat, she took out a bright red seal from her pocket and pressed it onto the two parchment scrolls.
"Gentlemen, once you have taken the oath at the Citizen Center, you will officially obtain federal citizenship."
Nina carefully put away the seal and extended her hand to Sylvia beside her. "The subsequent matters will be handled by Sylvia. The Mage Temple can only act as a witness to the identity conferment process. Therefore, I must excuse myself."
Xia and his companion bowed to Nina in gratitude and watched her walk up to the third floor.
Sylvia took two file folders out of her handbag.
"Shazo, this is your onboarding document. Master Rexol is an advisor to the Category 3 Disaster Emergency Response Department. He's waiting for you in room 303 upstairs. Go directly to him."
Sylvia placed another file folder in front of Anruer. "Anruer, let me introduce you to the First Category Energy Management Department."
Xia Zuo picked up the file folder, said goodbye to the two people at the table, and knocked on the door of room 303.
A bald man's voice came from behind the door, "Come in."
Xia Zuo pushed open the door and walked in, but did not see the bed, coffee table or other furniture he had expected.
Rexol's room was exceptionally spacious, with no furniture except for the bathroom that couldn't be moved. The curtains were drawn, obscuring the blue sky and clouds outside.
In the center of the room was a circular magic circle that shimmered with magical light.
The bald man, wearing leather armor, sat facing the door. In the center of the magic circle was an hourglass, with fine red sand slowly falling inside the transparent hourglass container.
"Good day, Master Rexor," Xia Zuo greeted respectfully.
"Put the file folder away first, Xia Zuo."
Rexor's left hand was maintaining the spell, and he pointed to the opposite corner of the magic circle with his other hand, saying:
“You have mastered the Curse of Decay, right? Sit down in the circle opposite me and cast the Curse of Decay on the sand.”
Xia Zuo glanced at his character template.
