Chapter 23, Angewomon

In the original storyline, the castle was guarded only by Deathmon. There was also a Goatmon, who was also loyal to Angewomon and became their guide.

This time, Silver Mirror Beast focused its energy and combat power on the Dozen Beasts, and the deployment on the castle side remained unchanged except for the orders given to Death Beast.

Silver Mirrormon was well aware of Cherubimon's special feelings for Omniwomon. Leaving Omniwomon's defenses undefended like this would likely displease Cherubimon in the future.

Unfortunately, the situation is now extremely critical. If we don't seize the opportunity to deal with the children, Silver Mirror Beast and the others will be eliminated.

In the original story, the children also encountered a shadowy figure in a room filled with floating documents, nearly leading to a major battle. It was the Goat Beast that appeared and drove the shadowy figure away.

When Emu walked through the room, he only revealed a little of his aura, but the oppressive aura of a powerful ultimate level made the shadowy figure hide and tremble, not daring to appear in front of Emu at all.

However, the goat beast from the original story still guarded the room.

This Digimon, resembling a giant black goat, was gentle yet resolute. Although overwhelmed by Emu's aura, it still managed to remain calm, its voice trembling slightly but its tone even as it spoke:

"Lord Hosho Emu, please come with me. I will take you to where Lord Ophanimon is."

"Huh? You know my name? We've never met before, have we?"

Emu followed without hesitation. In the original story, Goatmon was a competent guide, at least ensuring the children successfully met Ophanimon.

Led by Goatmon, Emu arrived at a room that shone with light and met Ophanimon, who was imprisoned in the Prison of Light.

Angewomon's upper face was covered by her helmet, but Emu could sense that she was looking at him.

Emu was not afraid either, and he also looked at Angewomon.

Angewomon is depicted as a beautiful woman clad in sturdy armor protecting her vitals. She and Seraphimon are among the three great archangels, serving as the Thrones responsible for the "transmission of love and the continuation of life."

Angewomon exudes a peaceful aura, making people feel fond of her just by looking at her.

After sizing each other up for a while, Angewomon smiled and spoke first:

"Hojo Emu... I've always wanted to meet you. You possess a powerful and mysterious strength, perhaps even comparable to that of the Ten Warriors. I am very grateful for your continued help to the Digital World."

"Angewomon, I also really want to see you. If it weren't for you, I might still be in the human world."

His intention was to say that it was thanks to Angewomon's summoning that he was able to witness the vibrant Digital World, gain the power of Ex-Aid, and have such a rich and colorful experience, instead of living a mundane life in the human world.

Angewomon recounted the cause and effect of the incident to Emu, speaking cautiously:

The three angels in the fourth season truly live up to their names. Even Cherubimon, who fell into evil, was led astray by Lucemon because of his attachment to Beast-type Digimon, not because of his own obsession with power.

Of course, Cherubimon's thoughts completely changed after falling into evil, and he wanted to unify the Digital World with the help of the Ten Warriors. However, at this point, he had no connection with the angels anymore.

Then there's Seraphimon. He's another unlucky guy, constantly tormented by the writers. When he fought Cherubimon, he was ambushed first, suffering a fatal blow and lying in the castle for an unknown amount of time. Upon waking, he was tricked back into his Digi-Egg by Mirrormon, earning him the title of "Zero-Win Rate Beast."

However, it cannot be denied that Seraphimon is kind-hearted. He was tricked and killed by Mirrormon only because he was concerned about the safety of the children, which allowed the opponent to seize the opportunity. Otherwise, he would have been completely dominating Mirrormon and the others.

Before Cherubimon fell, he was always thinking about how to make humanoid Digimon and beast-type Digimon coexist harmoniously, and how to appease an angry Cherubimon.

Aside from being a little simple-minded, he has no other problems and is a qualified archangel.

Angewomon and Seraphimon have quite similar personalities. Moreover, she summoned her children out of necessity and never intended to use them as cannon fodder.

Compare this to Gennai, the old man from the first part. He was nowhere to be seen while the battle was raging, only showing up to make his presence known as soon as it was over. After finally winning the final battle, he wouldn't even let the children say a few words before sending them back to the human world. This guy really treated the children like tools; he has no conscience whatsoever like Angewomon.

Unfortunately, after the successive tyrannies of Huanglongmon, Lucemon, and Cherubimon, too many powerful Digimon perished in tyranny and rebellion. In the Digital World, Angewomon has lost all hope.

Her only hope lies in the human world, which has not yet been tainted by the Cherubimon, and the power of the Ten Warriors.

Angewomon fought alongside the Ten Warriors to resist Lucemon's tyranny. Therefore, she understands the immense power of the Ten Warriors and the limitless possibilities behind it.

However, her defeat against Seraphimon led to the Digital World falling under Cherubimon's control. To find a suitable successor to the power of the Ten Warriors, she could only search in the human world, which was closely connected to the Digital World and had not been touched by Cherubimon.

This is also why Emu and the others were chosen.

Angewomon undoubtedly fulfilled her duties and responsibilities as a leader perfectly, but her own kind nature condemned her for dragging innocent people into this.

Now that Emu has personally admitted that he didn't blame her, Angewomon has finally emerged from this guilt and self-reproach.

However, Emu, who has the advantage of the original work, knows clearly that breaking the light prison only requires destroying the wall that reflects the light.

Yongmeng reached to his waist, pulled out the "Lotus Root," and fired it randomly without aiming. Since these walls could reflect light anyway, breaking any of them wouldn't be a problem.

Cherubimon focused most of its energy on the Light Prison. Although the Reflection Wall was ingeniously designed, it didn't pay much attention to it or even strengthen it. In the original story, Junpei and the others could easily destroy it.

Under Emu's attack, the walls in the room shattered one by one, and the light prison gradually disappeared.

After the light prison disappeared silently, Angewomon suddenly spread its wings and opened its arms, savoring the long-lost feeling of freedom, before landing next to Emu.

"Let's go find Takuya and the others."

Yongmeng nodded slightly and was about to turn around when he suddenly sensed an evil and powerful aura gradually rising behind him.
