What they feared most came to pass. WarGreymon's courage and fighting spirit inspired the other Digimon, and the beams of light around them grew thicker. Three beams of light from each of them wrapped around Apocalymon's arms, and the last one wrapped around Apocalymon's waist and abdomen.
Moreover, the light of the soul kept straightening in the opposite direction, arranging the Apocalyptic Beast in a pose similar to Jesus hanging on the cross—arms outstretched, head bowed, full of artistry.
Unfortunately, the apocalyptic beast couldn't appreciate this kind of art and instead felt deeply humiliated.
Those Digimon that failed in their evolution were filled with both longing and resentment towards all things beautiful. They were both ashamed of their failures and filled with a twisted sense of pride, resenting the contempt of other Digimon.
Apocalymon also inherited this twisted sense of pride. Having its left arm severed by Emu, it already felt humiliated and stripped of its dignity, even contemplating killing Emu to wash away the shame—it only changed its mind after the explosion, when Apocalymon acknowledged Emu's power.
And now, seeing the Apocalypse Beast displayed in such a shameful state deeply wounded His heart. He struggled to break free from the shackles of the Light of the Soul, roaring as He did so:
"Bastards...bastards! How dare you humiliate me like this! The chosen children...the chosen children! I will kill you all! Kill you all!"
However, once all eight beams of spiritual light enveloped Him, the Apocalypse Beast's power was suppressed to less than one-tenth. Forget fighting, even breaking free from the binding force of the spiritual light was difficult.
In the original story, the Light of the Mind formed a barrier that completely blocked the energy fluctuations of Apocalymon's self-destruction. Now, it's only used to suppress Apocalymon's power, so naturally, it won't give Apocalymon a chance to struggle.
"Everyone! Defeat Him! Gaia Energy Cannon!"
WarGreymon shouted loudly, raised its hands high, and hurled a spherical high-heat energy blast at Apocalymon's main body.
Other Digimon also responded, unleashing their special moves:
"Absolute freezing air!"
"Starburst!"
"Gigabit shockwave!"
Forbidden Temptation!
"Pirate's Axe!"
"Seven Heavens!"
Revelation!
"A fly pellet!"
Unlike other Digimon that had the guidance and boost of the Light of the Mind, Parad was a bit slow when it set off, but it still managed to catch up with the opportunity for the final strike and also managed to finish off the opponent with a shot.
The apocalyptic beast, with a ferocious appearance, futilely blocked its way with all its tentacles. Then, under the violent energy fluctuations, its body and tentacles were all crushed, leaving only a regular dodecahedron rolling in the darkness.
The light of the soul lost its purpose and slowly retreated into the children's sacred plan.
MetalGarurumon excitedly bumped into WarGreymon and said:
"Do we consider this a victory? We've wiped out all the Apocalypse Beasts!"
"Logically, it's correct... but this dodecahedron still gives me a bad feeling... everyone, let's do it again and eliminate this dodecahedron as well! Leave no hidden dangers!"
WarGreymon pondered for a moment, then shook its head and shouted.
"You're quite cautious, WarGreymon. Let's try again then!"
Phoenixmon flew to WarGreymon's side and laughed, without objecting to WarGreymon's command.
Everyone gathered their strength once more, but the dodecahedron suddenly became transparent, revealing a broken fragment that could be seen faintly within. Then came the terrifying voice of the Apocalypse Beast:
"So... this is the power of Kamen Rider? It's really... interesting and powerful!"
Chapter 64 Kamen Rider Agito (Evil)
"That's the last fragment of the system?! How did it end up with the Apocalypse Beast?! Shouldn't it have been retrieved by Brother Shi?!"
Emu initially breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Apocalymon's main body reduced to ashes by WarGreymon and the others, leaving only a regular dodecahedron, thinking the battle was won. The next moment, however, he saw the broken fragment through the transparent dodecahedron and was immediately shocked.
According to the conversation between Emu and Taiki, after Tsukasa Kadoya retrieved the remnant soul from Taiki, he went to another world to retrieve the last fragment.
So much time had passed, and Emu still thought Tsukasa Kadoya had long since collected the last fragment. Little did he know, Tsukasa had been slacking off again, and the fragment was still floating outside, appearing on Apocalymon!
If it were just a system fragment, that would be one thing, but Apocalymon clearly hadn't activated the system fragment before. Even if it now possesses the power of Kamen Rider, it still has to progress step by step from its initial form. With WarGreymon and the other nine Ultimate-level monsters eyeing it covetously, it simply can't cause any trouble.
But don't forget, the system fragments also contain the remnant soul of the previous one! The more negative the emotion, the easier it is to awaken the remnant soul! The combination of the remnant soul and the Apocalypse Beast, along with the power of a certain knight, makes the final outcome truly unpredictable!
Emu felt something was wrong. WarGreymon and the others were still a bit stunned, not understanding the meaning behind Apocalymon's words.
However, WarGreymon and the others had originally planned to deliver another blow. Although they didn't understand the meaning behind Apocalymon's words, they weren't going to dwell on it, and the several Ultimate-level Digimon once again unleashed their ultimate attacks at the transparent dodecahedron.
"Hehehe, it's no use. Kneel before me, Henshin!"
The apocalyptic beast smiled coldly, its dodecahedron transforming into a blurry humanoid form. A ring of transformation appeared around its waist, and it slapped its hands on either side of its belt, which released a blindingly bright light that completely enveloped it.
As the light faded, a knight appeared, his upper body muscular, with six sharp horns on his head, bloodshot eyes, and even his armor fiery red. He clenched his right fist, flames coiling around it, and blasted forward:
“Burning Rider Punch!”
WarGreymon and the others were not a unified force. Even though they had agreed to attack together, their attack order varied in speed. Apocalymon seized the opportunity and broke out of the encirclement.
Clearly, the remnant soul has been awakened; such keen insight and decisive judgment are not what the Apocalypse Beast excels at.
However, even after the remnant soul awakened, it did not gain the upper hand. Apocalymon was born from the resentment left behind by many vanished Digimon, and the remnant soul can also be seen as a form of resentment. Upon awakening, it was directly absorbed by Apocalymon and became a part of it, with Apocalymon retaining control.
Of course, the remnant soul also greatly affected Apocalymon, making it even more arrogant and haughty, loudly mocking WarGreymon and the others:
"What a crude combo! It's full of flaws at first glance! I could take you all down in a minute! Now, remember my name! I am Kamen Rider Agito Evil!"
"I don't care who you are! Get down here!"
Apocalymon's arrogance ignited the fury of the Digimon. Seraphimon roared first, unfurling its ten golden wings—symbols of its supreme status among angel-type Digimon—and unleashing its ultimate attack on Apocalymon:
"Seven Heavens!"
"That's it? A mere beast with a zero win rate dares to be so insolent in front of me!"
Apocalymon, having extracted some information from the remnant soul of its predecessor, let out a mocking laugh reminiscent of the Crooked-Mouthed Dragon King. With a swift pull from its transformation ring, it drew a naginata, its blade wreathed in fiery energy, and cleaved through the seven blazing fireballs of Seven Heavens, striking Seraphimon squarely in the chest.
"Burning Bomber!"
Seraphimon was instantly and severely injured, spinning backward and flying a distance before reverting to Patamon, floating helplessly in the void, already unconscious.
"Ultimate Seraphimon! Damn it! Absolute Freeze!"
Seeing the flying Seraphimon, MetalGarurumon let out a wolf howl and rushed towards Apocalymon, unleashing its ultimate attack.
These partner Digimon have grown up supporting each other and have developed a deep bond. The relationship between Yamato and Takeru also helps Gabumon and Patamon become more familiar and closer.
Seeing Seraphimon severely injured, MetalGarurumon was the first to lose his temper.
"MetalGarurumon! Stop charging, everyone attack together!"
WarGreymon also values friendship; when MetalGarurumon was turned into a keychain by Piedmon, it was WarGreymon who rushed to help and came back.
However, WarGreymon is more rational. His actions are all carefully considered.
From WarGreymon's perspective, Apocalymon seemed like a completely different person after transforming. While its strength wasn't significantly greater than theirs, its combat experience was entirely different. While Seraphimon's special attack wasn't weak, Apocalymon seemed to have spotted its weak point in energy at a glance, allowing it to break through with a single strike.
That single strike was enough to put everyone on their guard. Not to mention, the Apocalypse Beast had previously broken through their combined attack.
What they should be doing now is using their numerical advantage to force the Apocalypse Beast to fight with energy, rather than giving Him the opportunity to demonstrate His combat experience.
There had been previous battles; with the Light of the Mind illuminating them and the combined power of the nine Ultimate-level beings, they had directly blasted Apocalymon's true form to pieces. While Apocalymon still possesses ample energy, it is no longer as limitless as before.
However, MetalGarurumon's impulsiveness completely disrupted WarGreymon's original plan. WarGreymon, having no chance to engage the other Digimon, could only sigh and call for everyone to attack together, preventing Apocalymon from having a chance to defeat them one by one.
Just as WarGreymon had predicted, Apocalymon easily dodged MetalGarurumon's attack by twisting to the side. At the same time, flames erupted from Apocalymon's body, and with a punch, it struck MetalGarurumon's chest directly.
After absorbing the memories of the remnant soul, Apocalymon's grasp of timing far surpasses that of MetalGarurumon and the others.
Apocalymon was planning to finish off Apocalymon, but at that moment WarGreymon called for the other Digimon to pounce, and DragonBane flashed a cold light, pointing directly at Apocalymon's head.
The previous battle had not only depleted Apocalymon's infinite energy but also its self-healing ability. Therefore, Apocalymon dared not take WarGreymon's attack lightly, abandoned its plan to finish off the attacker, and turned to dodge.
Chapter Sixty-Five VS Agito (Evil)
Emu had anticipated that Apocalymon might suppress a group of Ultimate-level beings after transforming, but the fact that Seraphimon was defeated so quickly was still beyond his expectations.
After all, Patamon's other evolutions had pretty good battle records before evolving into Seraphimon.
In the original story, Devimon and Piedmon, the two major bosses in the early and later stages of the series, were both defeated by Patamon after its evolution.
Even in today's world, Patamon, in its Slayermon form, performed admirably against Piedmon, repeatedly escaping danger. Even when Piedmon, fueled by its own nuclear explosion, charged at him, it was still saved by Azuryomon and WarGreymon. It all comes down to incredible luck.
However, upon evolving into Seraphimon, he immediately and instantly died, leaving everyone wondering whether Agito was truly that strong or if he was genuinely that weak.
All I can say is that the form of Ultimate Seraphimon is quite mysterious.
While inwardly complaining, Emu flew towards Patamon, hugged him, and healed his wounds.
Emu's energy is also running low, but Patamon's injuries are quite serious. If the situation doesn't stabilize, he might be done for.
Having caught Patamon, Emu didn't linger and quickly headed towards Sakuyamon's barrier.
Emu didn't want to fight, but he wasn't in good condition. He had healed some of his injuries, but his energy, stamina, and mental strength were all depleted.
Moreover, in order to stabilize Patamon's injuries, Emu was still squeezing out his own energy to continuously heal Patamon's injuries, and now his head was throbbing with pain.
To participate in the war in this state would likely result in immediate defeat.
He doesn't want to learn from Seraphimon.
Therefore, Emu's strategy was clear: while WarGreymon and the others were still holding on, he should quickly go and rest to recover his strength.
Even if WarGreymon and his friends lose, Emu will still have the power to launch a final counterattack.
Of course, it would be best if WarGreymon and his friends could win. But Emu didn't hold out much hope for that.
The remnant soul's combat experience was on a completely different level compared to that of WarGreymon and the others. Emu had already tasted the bitterness of being utterly defeated by a more experienced being in his battle against Darkmon.
Therefore, Emu's only expectation for WarGreymon was that it could hold out a little longer so that he could recover more.
A jumble of thoughts flashed through Emu's mind as she passed through the barrier and arrived beside the children.
Patamon's condition had stabilized, and Emu handed the card over to Takeru, who was wiping away tears. He ignored Taichi's gaze, grabbed the cartridge, closed his eyes, lay down, and tried his best to recover.
He knew Taiyi wanted to ask for a solution, but what solutions did he have? So he decided not to say anything, hoping to have more time to recover.
"Hurricane-like barrage!"
Parad approached Agito, delivering a whirlwind kick to his head, while bullets from a gun hidden in his heel continued to fire at Agito's entire body.
Agito held a naginata in one hand, casually swinging it to deflect all the bullets. Flames gathered on his other fist, igniting the vine whip lashed out by the Rose Beast.
Before Agito could launch a counterattack, WarGreymon pounced again, its Dragonbane gleaming coldly as it relentlessly stabbed at Agito's vital points.
Agito's attitude improved somewhat. WarGreymon possessed high combat talent, and the opponents it had faced were all formidable. Enemies like MetalSeadramon, BurningCardmon, and Apocalymon significantly enhanced WarGreymon's strength, willpower, and experience, making it arguably the only Digimon that Agito took seriously.
