As expected... Knowing that things would develop this way, Bai Aina bent down, slipped her hands through a slender waist and thigh, and picked her up despite her struggles.
Even through my sweatpants, I could clearly feel the sensation coming from my fingertips. It was the spasm of muscles after intense exercise; one of my legs was trembling uncontrollably.
“There’s no need to be stubborn. If necessary… you can rely on me more.” Bai Aina looked at the ashamed Yi Tiao and gently stroked her cheek. “Anyway, wait for me here for a moment, I’ll be back soon.”
"Wait, teacher! I can still...!" Before Yitiao could finish speaking, Baina leaped from the rooftop onto the street.
With a loud thud as something heavy fell, the two police officers who were escorting the pig-faced professor immediately stopped the car.
"Is he one of this guy's accomplices?" the officer in the car asked, glancing at the rearview mirror, but the mirror reflected nothing but calm.
“I don’t remember Professor Pigface having any good friends… Could they be one of those who slipped through the net?” Another officer, who did remember that Professor Pigface had many brainwashed followers, looked somewhat worried.
After a moment of internal struggle, the two officers took out their pistols from their waists, checked the situation behind them using the rearview mirror, exchanged glances, and then opened the car door to check the area behind them.
"Excuse me, but please take a short nap." The moment the car door opened, the two police officers driving felt a sharp pain in their necks as the anesthetic injection took effect. They quickly collapsed onto the dashboard and passed out.
Withdrawing her outstretched hands, Bai Aina walked to the back door, thrust her hands forward forcefully, and then spread them to the left and right.
She dragged the panicked pig-faced professor out and threw him into the middle of the road. Bai Aina looked at him with great interest, seemingly waiting to see what he would say next.
"Th-thank you...thank you! But you're not good enough...Pigface will help you become better." Professor Pigface stood up unsteadily, clearly the sudden stop had taken a toll on him.
“No need, I’m short on time.” Shaking her head, Bai Aina took out a thick-backed kitchen knife from her storage card. “Although I’m still short on time, I can give you a little time. Come on, pray to the gods.”
Chapter Nineteen: Humans Alive, Pigs Dead
With great effort, she managed to stand up. Although Bai Aina didn't want her to participate in the incident, Yi Tiao was still stubbornly determined to go down and help. She approached the edge of the rooftop, trying to find an emergency exit leading to the first floor.
"No...no...! Please!" The pitiful wails attracted Ichijo's attention, and she couldn't help but turn her head to look in the direction from which the sound came.
Dragging his enormous body, Professor Pig-Faced crawled desperately across the ground, trying to get away from the person behind him in terror. The excruciating pain of having his right leg brutally severed drove this surgeon, who only knew how to inflict pain on others, into a state of hysteria. His reason completely gone, he stared at death approaching step by step, muttering, "They're all imperfect, Mommy's very unhappy, that's why the pig..."
People can go to jail... but a pig like you only has one way out: death.
The black windbreaker, stained with blood, turned an ominous dark red. Bai Aina, holding a thick-backed kitchen knife, wiped the blood from her face with the back of her hand. Aside from the exhilarating feeling that welled up from the bottom of her heart and filled every cell of her body, she also felt nauseous.
"Damn it, to have this trash's blood splattered on me." Silently raising the thick-backed cleaver in her hand, and looking at the pig-faced professor who was still muttering to himself, Bai Aina ruthlessly smashed the murder weapon in her hand to the ground.
A dull thud sounded, the first cut resembling the sound of a cleaver striking meat on a cutting board. Warm blood splattered onto Bai Aina's face, and the pig-faced professor's nose collapsed.
Completely unable to speak, the pig-faced professor, who had fainted from the pain, was unaware of the effects of the second cut. His forehead had been split in two, and the protruding stork bone, along with the fat on his cheeks, had sunk in and merged with his brain cavity.
The third cut… Bai Aina felt her hand tremble and go numb. She looked at the pig-faced professor's face, which was now completely gone, his once-fat face now a jumbled mess with his brain. Even a supervillain with schizophrenia, the color of his brain didn't seem to be any different from a normal person's.
Under the streetlights, crimson blood pooled beneath the pig-faced professor's body. Bai Aina's face twitched slightly, her stomach churned, and she nearly vomited a mouthful of acid.
Maybe I should make some changes next time. This method of killing... always leaves me covered in blood. She carelessly tossed the thick-backed cleaver aside, then shook the blood off her hands, but more blood kept dripping from them.
Well, it sounds a bit like running away, but it's time to go. If I don't leave now, they'll probably come looking for me. Taking off her black windbreaker and wiping the blood off her face with it, Bai Aina, now only wearing a vest, leaped and plunged her arm into the wall, returning to the building she had come from.
"..." I have absolutely no idea what to say. The scene just now was like a nightmare. I don't know how to describe my current feelings.
Right, it was at that moment... that I killed someone too... When I looked at my hands again, I could see blood dripping from them, a fountain of blood spreading all over my body, staining my blue windbreaker crimson.
"?" Bai Aina noticed that Yi Tiao's mental state seemed a bit off; after all, the child was currently staring at her with trembling hands and unfocused eyes. Although the scene of her killing was indeed very bloody, it wasn't exaggerated to the point of causing psychological trauma... Counseling was necessary, but not now.
"Oh my God." Just as Baina had expected, someone did indeed arrive quickly. However, it wasn't Batman, as he was currently in a meeting with Gordon to discuss the Joker's disappearance.
He wore a black bodysuit with a blue bird logo, and his handsome face was framed by black, tousled hair. Rather than a superhero, his physique, which was fit enough to walk the runway, made him look more like a model from who-knows-where.
The original Robin, now the leader of the Young Justice League, Nightwing, also known as Dick Grayson.
"I've always wanted to know, do you think you can hide your identities by wearing an eye patch like this?" Bai Aina had always thought that although it was ridiculous for Superman to hide his identity by wearing glasses, it was also ridiculous for Robin Morodai, Gumballs, or Green Lanterns to hide their identities by wearing a bodysuit and an eye patch!
"Indeed, you can. Do you want to give it a try?" Despite being a renowned heartthrob in the DC Universe, Nightwing, though startled by Baiana's methods, still managed to strike up a conversation. "Well then, let me confirm one thing: that Laszlo Valentine down there... you killed him, didn't you?"
“Indeed, I know you’re here to arrest me.” Gently patting Yitiao’s cheek, Bai Aina activated her mind control over the flesh buds, and smiled at the blue-haired girl before her. “Listen to me, you should go back now.”
"Teacher, I..." She bit her lip tightly, her fingers digging deep into her palms, and reluctantly raised her head to look at the face so close to hers...
“There’s nothing to worry about… I can handle this all by myself. You can go back now.” Bai Aina’s fingers lightly brushed across one of her thighs, causing the latter to blush and involuntarily tighten her legs.
"I...I'll go back!" After resting for a while, Yi Tiao struggled to his feet and staggered down from the door on the rooftop.
Halfway there, Yi Tiao looked worriedly at Bai Aina, then glanced at Ye Yi who was watching everything coldly from the side, and finally mustered up her courage to say, "No matter what... you must come back! Teacher! I'll be waiting for you!"
"No problem, don't worry." With a gentle smile, Bai Aina waved to Ichijo. "If it's just a fear of the dark, you'll have to overcome that."
"No...no! I'm not afraid of the dark!" she responded somewhat angrily, then lowered her head and left dejectedly.
Watching silently from the sidelines, Dick Grayson was no fool. His target was only Baina, who had escaped from the mental hospital and committed murder; unrelated people could be dealt with later.
“Before you arrest me, I have a question I’d like to ask you.” After stretching her joints slightly, Baina asked Nightwing slowly.
“You can ask.” Leaning against the edge of the rooftop, Nightwing made no preparatory movements and looked very relaxed.
"Will those who were modified by Professor Pigface receive help from Wayne Enterprises? The families of the deceased will also receive compensation, right?" After completing her basic warm-up exercises, Bai Aina stood up. Her originally fair skin was flushed, just like someone who had exercised.
"..." Nightwing became more alert. Not everyone knew that Wayne Enterprises was responsible for paying compensation to the injured and the deceased. On the surface, these matters were handled by the Gotham City government; Wayne Enterprises only handled them behind the scenes.
"They will all receive proper arrangements and compensation, you can rest assured about that." The negative emotions that had been brought about by the girl's cruel methods of committing the crime had eased somewhat. Although it was just a simple question, Nightwing could sense that the girl in front of him, like them, was someone who should become a hero.
"Since that's the case, there's no point in saying more, and there's no need to continue." Having coordinated her muscles, adjusted the thickness of her bones and the speed of blood flow, and prepared herself for the best possible battle, Bai Aina coldly looked at Nightwing.
“I originally thought you would surrender easily… If not, it’s fine, I’ll try my best not to hurt you.” Having reviewed the surveillance footage of Baiana and Bane, Nightwing knew that the girl before him possessed remarkable regenerative abilities. However, he wasn’t unfamiliar with such enemies and still had considerable experience dealing with them.
Chapter Twenty: Is this how you treat girls?
Despite facing a mortal hero, Baiana was not careless in the slightest. She knew very well that Batman and Nightwing were both non-humans in mortal skin, and these so-called 'mortal' heroes, if they wanted to, could do many terrible things that even real mortals could not do.
Even a lion needs to go all out to hunt a rabbit, and Bai Aina would never underestimate any of her opponents. Moreover, the man before her... was very likely stronger than herself.
Seeing that Bai Aina had no intention of attacking, Nightwing slightly moved his left foot forward, then spun gracefully to close the distance with her. He tentatively threw a jab that felt like a sharp spike, aiming for the girl's cheek.
Without backing down or yielding, and to the astonishment of her opponent, Bai Aina decisively took the punch with her face. Although her cheek muscles contorted as a result, Nightwing reacted as if electrocuted, quickly withdrawing his hand.
Taking advantage of Nightwing's action of withdrawing his hand, Baina leaned forward, crossed her arms, and sharp blades shot out from the sides of her arms, slashing towards his lower abdomen.
So fast! There was definitely no need to test him! With the intention of not harming his opponent, Nightwing initially planned to test his strength. However, when he threw that punch, his glove-clad right hand felt as if it had been corroded by strong acid. While it wasn't unusable, the intense pain forced him to withdraw his hand.
It was because of this action that Nightwing was given an opportunity by Bai Aina. However, after adjusting his mindset, he leaned backward with lightning speed, narrowly avoiding the crisscrossing arm blades with a bridge-like movement. At the same time, he pressed his hands back to the ground, while his legs, like venomous snakes leaping from the ground, kicked directly at Bai Aina's abdomen.
"Ugh!" With a muffled groan, Bai Aina was sent flying. Although Nightwing's counterattack was hasty, it felt as if her abdomen had been torn apart, and the heavy kick sent her petite body flying backward.
Her body flew uncontrollably four or five meters away, and Bai Aina fell to the ground. Just as she was about to get up, Nightwing quickly stood up and closed the distance between them in a few strides. His raised left fist slammed down like a hammer.
She immediately turned her head to the side to dodge, and Bai Aina felt a deafening roar hit her left ear, like a firecracker exploding next to her ear. Nightwing's punch actually created a dent in the concrete floor that was 20 centimeters wide and 3 centimeters deep.
Generally speaking, concrete is harder than ice. A small-caliber pistol would be lucky to leave a dent on ice, but Nightwing's punch had far greater destructive power. If it had hit him, his head would probably have exploded. His death would likely be far more gruesome than Professor Pigface's!
In a very short time, Baina calculated how much damage Nightwing's punch would inflict on her. She immediately made up her mind that she would rather die than let him punch her in the face again; this was no longer the probing attack like before.
The flying dirt and debris grazed Bai Aina's cheek. Before Nightwing could pull his left hand back, her long, gray hair seemed to come alive and began to writhe, the curly snake-like hair wrapping around his left hand and tightening inwards.
Not only can it project arm blades, but it can even control hair! Without hesitation, Nightwing withdrew his left hand, spun around, and pulled with the force of the movement. A piercing sound rang out as he tore off Bai Aina's long hair.
The checkmate is complete. Baina made no further move, simply standing there quietly awaiting the outcome.
Nightwing only realized at this moment that Beaina's long hair seemed to have a life of its own. Even after detaching from her body, it continued to wrap around the inside of her arms, and the Kevlar bodysuit probably wouldn't last long under such tight constriction.
Since that's the case... Just as Nightwing was about to take out the stun gun from his waist to get out of the predicament, Bai'ina, who had anticipated his move, wouldn't let him try to save himself. She raised her right hand into a knife shape and slashed directly at the enemy.
Even with one hand immobilized, Nightwing remained calm. He raised his left leg and kicked Bai Aina's tiger's mouth with incredibly cunning toes.
Her original plan to stab the eyes with a flick of her wrist had failed, and Bai Aina had no choice but to twist her wrist and chop the incoming toe with her hand.
The instant her toes met her hand, Baina's right hand sank, as if gored by a raging bull. When she pushed forward again, Nightwing withdrew his strength, lightly tapped his foot, and retreated.
During his time with Batman, Nightwing underwent rigorous combat training. Classic fighting techniques like the French kick came naturally to him, and his specially designed shoe soles were made to withstand strong acid corrosion, so he wasn't worried about Beaune damaging them.
He pulled a smoke grenade from his waist, and the sphere slipped from his fingers, instantly shattering into four pieces, releasing a cloud of gray smoke. Nightwing took the opportunity to retreat quickly, but felt a sharp pain in his arm where his hair had tangled, and blood seeped from his beautiful gray-white hair, dripping to the ground.
Where...is she? Listening intently to his surroundings, Nightwing took out a low-powered stun gun and applied it to the area near his arm where the hair was tangled. A faint flash of electricity appeared, followed by a pungent, acrid smell, and strands of Bai Aina's hair fell to the ground.
Despite being slightly shocked by the electric shock, Nightwing only shuddered and quickly recovered with his physical abilities, continuing to observe his surroundings.
But the anticipated ambush never came, and when the smoke cleared, only Nightwing remained on the rooftop of the building.
Now is not the time to completely tear off the mask of civility. The moment the smoke grenade exploded, Bai Aina immediately flipped downstairs, kicked open a manhole cover, and hid inside.
Although a little more effort now could very well lead to Nightwing's complete defeat, it could also divert Batman's attention entirely to her. To be on the safe side, Baiana abandoned the option of eliminating Nightwing directly here.
And... if Nightwing is defeated here, who will dispose of Professor Pigface's body? That thing could easily scare children if left on the roadside.
After navigating several corners, Baina climbed out of another sewer manhole. She then retrieved a portable hair dye from her storage card, dyed her short, gray-white hair black, and walked out.
At that moment, Baina could also hear piercing screams coming from the street not far away, coming from the direction of her battle with Nightwing. Apparently, someone had opened a window, discovered the gruesome corpse of Professor Pigface, and screamed in fright.
The piercing sirens blared quickly, and only after the incident was over could Gotham City's police officers react immediately, rushing to the scene to handle the aftermath or provide clues.
Having no intention of lingering, the girl standing by the roadside hailed a taxi and went directly to the outskirts of Gotham City. Only then did Bai Na return to the abandoned gas station, her temporary base, with a sense of ease.
“I’m back…” Bai Aina opened the door, but instead of the rash and flustered figure that had appeared before her, a dark gun barrel was pointed directly at her.
She couldn't help but squint. Although the dark muzzle of the gun didn't reflect any light, it still felt incredibly blinding to Bai Aina.
Standing before her was a man dressed in a brown leather jacket and jeans, wearing a red helmet that fit snugly to his head, making one highly question his fashion sense. He was holding two pistols, which he was pointing at Baina.
"Wow...isn't that Little Red Riding Hood...uh...Red Hood?" Almost blurting out Little Red Riding Hood, Bai Aina quickly corrected herself. She had no interest in having her head blown off with a single shot, nor did she enjoy mere provocation.
Chapter Twenty-One: Jason, Goodbye Two Buckets
"So...don't you think it's extremely rude to point a gun at a lady you've never met before?" Although she didn't raise her hands, Bai Aina wasn't so defiant as to press her forehead against the gun. She might not be able to kill her, but having a cavity punched in the head would be incredibly painful, and she wouldn't do that unless absolutely necessary.
"Answer my question, who are you?" Unlike Nightwing or Red Robin, Jason did not feel pity for Baiana just because she was a pitiful girl. His gun was aimed at her without the slightest wavering, firm and straight.
“I’m Bai Aina. Jason Todd, Red Hood. With your intelligence network, you couldn’t possibly not know me, could you?” Leaning against the wall by the door, Bai Aina, who looked relaxed, asked in return.
"No, I'm asking why you're going after those underworld forces?" Red Hood... or rather Jason Todd, continued to press.
"What's wrong with that? Shouldn't a normal person do the right thing?" Bai Aina said dismissively. Although it was just acting, it was still a very interesting process for her.
"You think killing them is the right thing to do?" Jason's voice was steady and hoarse, but quite intimidating, as he held two guns.
"Selling arms, dealing drugs, kidnapping and selling sex, engaging in street brawls, disturbing people's homes—why can't these kinds of people be eliminated?" Bai Aina listed them off in detail, then asked again. "Just because they have a mental illness, we let them go, allowing them to escape from prison again and again, causing even greater harm to society?"
“You’re right, but how do you know my name?” Jason lowered one hand, leaving only one gun pointed at Baina.
“There was once a boy from a poor background who was adopted by Bruce Wayne, Gotham City’s famous eligible bachelor. Not long after, the second Robin appeared in Gotham City.” Baiana recounted a past event, a hint of mockery in her expression. “Later, the second Robin was killed by the Joker, and the adopted son disappeared for unknown reasons. Don’t you think such coincidences are too much of a coincidence?”
“What you’re saying is all too presumptuous. What if it really is just a coincidence?” Jason continued to question.
