A Young Woman's Heart
Page 252
Around 5 a.m., Mo Xueyao and her family got off the train and rushed to the airport to meet up with her godfather and others, then flew back to Hangzhou without stopping.
During the flight, I parted ways with Mr. Xue and Hua Yinyin, as they would be staying here for a while longer before returning to Hangzhou in a few days.
During travel, you can always see many new and interesting things and have new experiences.
But when the trip ended, I was completely exhausted.
The main reason is that I'm back home and can finally get some rest.
Even if there are beds on the train, they are still different from your own bed at home.
After all, having your own scent on your own bed makes you feel more at ease.
"Wanyan, you should sleep with Xiaoyao tonight. The fruit shop hasn't been open for a long time, and that little room must be covered in dust. Don't sleep there tonight," Mo Xueyao's mother said to Li Wanyan as she changed the bedding on Mo Xueyao's bed.
“Okay, godmother.” Li Wanyan nodded obediently.
It was already quite late when Mo Xueyao and Li Wanyan returned from the bathroom.
To be honest, I wasn't really sleepy, since there wasn't much to do on the bus, so I could basically just sleep.
I haven't been back for almost half a month, and my room feels a bit unfamiliar.
She was groping around, and finally her little hand landed in the cross-shaped coffin box containing "Nancy".
Nancy, placed in the box, was perfectly preserved, just as Mo Xueyao had done when she put her in it.
"What, missing her?" Li Wanyan asked with a smile. "Didn't Xiaoyao not like her before?"
“After all, it’s such an expensive thing. Even if you don’t like it, you still have to like it!” Mo Xueyao stammered and argued. “Besides, it’s quite pretty. There’s nothing to dislike about it. It’s not an ugly or scary doll.”
"Then you should take her out to get some fresh air. You can also put those pieces of furniture that Teacher Wang gave you on the table so she can sit on them."
"Then Wanyan, can you help me set them out?" Mo Xueyao muttered softly. As a 'boy,' she was still quite embarrassed to be seen playing with dolls by others.
Wang Qianyu gave her a lot of furniture along with the doll.
They are all mini and exquisite.
There are small red leather sofas, as well as small round tables and European-style chairs made of real mahogany.
There were also some trinkets such as vases, phonographs, and books.
Even more astonishingly, when those books were opened, there were words inside.
This was the first time Mo Xueyao had discovered this.
These tiny characters were printed in miniature; if you look closely, you can still make some of them out.
"This is actually a mini English dictionary..." she exclaimed in surprise.
"Did you only just realize that?"
"Ah... I never looked at it carefully before."
To outsiders, playing with dolls may seem like a boring thing, but to the person playing with them, it is very interesting.
Time slips away unnoticed.
Li Wanyan was also earnestly teaching Mo Xueyao how to comb the doll's hair and how to arrange the doll's clothes.
"Xiaoyao doesn't seem like a girl at all," Li Wanyan said helplessly. "No wonder her hair is always a bit messy, with several clumps sticking out in a tangled mess."
"Uh-huh, I'm still a little inexperienced... I'll get better with practice." Mo Xueyao touched her delicate nose and said somewhat guiltily.
"I'm going to sleep now." Li Wanyan slipped into bed. "You should go to sleep early too."
"it is good."
This is how Mo Xueyao answered.
However, she didn't go back to bed all night.
When the bright morning sunlight shone on Li Wanyan's face, waking her from a moment of palpitation, she saw Mo Xueyao asleep, slumped over the table.
The doll, named Nancy, was placed on the sofa with her legs crossed.
Mo Xueyao put both legs on the chair, curling up from the cold like a frozen kitten.
"Yaoyao, Yaoyao, if you want to sleep, go to bed." Li Wanyan patted her shoulder helplessly and said softly.
"Ugh...?" Mo Xueyao rubbed her eyes and yawned widely. "Is it already dawn...?"
What time did you go to sleep last night?
"I don't know either." Mo Xueyao yawned repeatedly as she snuggled into the warm blankets. "I'm going to sleep a little longer..."
"Shall I put the doll away for you?"
"Put it away." Mo Xueyao's voice came from under the covers, where she had completely covered her head.
Li Wanyan shook her head helplessly, helped Mo Xueyao pack her things, then turned off the light that had been left on all night, pushed open the door and went out.
This was a rare opportunity for her to sleep in. It was already eight o'clock in the morning, and Mo Xueyao's father was still fast asleep in bed, snoring loudly and occasionally smacking his lips, probably dreaming of something delicious.
But Mother still got up very early. The clothes were already hanging on the line outside the balcony, dripping water that tapped against the awnings of the people downstairs, creating a melody called "life".
"Yan Yan is awake," her mother said affectionately. "Go wash up and get ready for breakfast."
Aren't we waiting for them?
"No need, let's eat as soon as we get up. Everyone is tired and needs a rest. Let the father and daughter get a good night's sleep."
"Okay." Li Wanyan walked into the bathroom. Because she didn't often stay at Mo Xueyao's house, she was still a little unaccustomed to the place. She searched for a long time for her toothbrush and toothpaste cup before discovering that they had been washed by Mo Xueyao's mother and placed on the high table.
After washing up, neither her father nor Mo Xueyao woke up. Even though the sunlight was already shining on their faces, they seemed to be sleeping even more soundly.
Hmm... Could it be because the sunlight is so warm that it's more comfortable to sleep in than at night?
"Godmother, do you need any help?" Li Wanyan came out of the bathroom and saw her mother still busy, so she asked.
"Come on, help me mop the floor, I'll go scoop out the fried eggs." Mo Xueyao's mother didn't stand on ceremony.
“Okay.” Li Wanyan naturally took the mop.
However, the fried egg was overcooked; it was no longer a runny yolk egg, but rather the kind of egg that was very hard to bite into.
Fortunately, Li Wanyan didn't have any special requests. If it were Mo Xueyao, she probably would have been clamoring for a runny yolk egg again.
Mo Xueyao's family always has simple breakfasts; today's breakfast is white porridge and mixed noodles.
The congee was sprinkled with corn kernels and dried fruit, including a few raisins, which gave it a slightly sweet taste.
Peaceful and quiet days may bore many people.
But if they actually experienced those upheavals, these people would probably miss the peaceful days.
It's not that people's daily lives are boring; it's just that they have no other way to relieve their boredom except by seeking special thrills.
Simply put, it's too superficial.
People who truly enjoy life can discover different kinds of beauty and many interesting things even in their daily lives.
Li Wanyan is enjoying this time. She feels that she can sit on the balcony and watch the pedestrians coming and going below for a long time.
"Get up!" It wasn't until 11 a.m., after finishing all the chores, that the mother finally couldn't help but grab the father's ear and shout.
Mo Xueyao's blanket was also ripped off, and she was told to get up quickly.
This is so simple and brutal, quite unlike how I gently told them to sleep a little longer before.
It even gave people the illusion that they were not the same person.
Amidst her mother's loud commotion, Mo Xueyao and her father finally got out of bed.
The midday sun shone into the room, making it bright even without the lights on, but this warmth also made people feel lethargic and listless.
"Alright, even if you're resting, you should do something meaningful. Who sleeps that long? That's enough!" The mother slammed her hand on the table and shouted, "Go wash up and then have breakfast—look at you two, you're getting up so late, breakfast is going to turn into lunch!"
"Yes, yes, yes—" The father yawned as he walked toward the bathroom, but Mo Xueyao beat him to it.
"I'll wash first!"
"Damn, I'm going to have a smoke then." The father said, reaching for the cigarettes on the shoe cabinet by the door.
"No smoking! Give it to me first, wash your face, brush your teeth!" Mother grabbed the toiletries and shoved them into Father's hands. "If you can't wash in the toilet, go wash in the kitchen!"
"Have a cigarette first, to perk yourself up," the father said, shamelessly bargaining.
"What are you smoking for? Smoking as soon as you get up? Don't you want to live anymore?"
"Oh well, it's no fun living too long anyway."
The mother glared at the father with her hands on her hips, and the latter immediately fell silent, taking his toiletries and obediently walking into the kitchen.
"After you two finish eating, let's go to the supermarket. We finished all the food before we left last time because we were afraid it would spoil in the refrigerator. We should go shopping today, otherwise we'll have nothing to eat."
"Can I not go?" Mo Xueyao just wanted to sunbathe on the balcony and read a book; she didn't want to go anywhere.
After all, during my time in Russia, it felt like I had been away for far too long.
"No."
"Hmm, my dear wife, can I not go?" the father asked, his mouth full of toothbrush foam.
"No!" the mother said, scooping out the noodles she had cooked after waking them up and putting them into two bowls. "Why do you always want to stay indoors?"
"I need a break. I've been out for so long, I don't want to leave home now."
"Come on, if you were really homesick, you wouldn't have gambled for three days and three nights without coming home." Mother rolled her eyes, poured soy sauce into the noodles, sprinkled some chopped green onions on top, and mixed it up. "Today, all four of us in the family have to go!"
The family consists of four people...
Li Wanyan felt a warm feeling in her heart.

Chapter Sixty-Five: The Electronic Keyboard in the Supermarket (Part 1)
Mo Xueyao and her family of four stepped out of their home, facing the cotton candy-like, sweet-looking white clouds in the sky and the bright sun hanging high in the sky.
The impatient mother was always in the lead, walking very fast and quickly leaving the other three behind, as if she had a lot to do.
