But Li Wanyan steered the conversation elsewhere: "How tall is Nora?"

"About 5'11".

"It's so high!" Mo Xueyao exclaimed. "I wish it were that high!"

“Huh? Okay, this height is considered normal in Russia.” Nora rubbed her long, dark red hair and exhaled a puff of milky white mist. “I think you are very small like this. Too!”

"What's so good, you can't reach anything, and you can't see outside in the crowd." Mo Xueyao curled her lips depressedly, "I don't know if I can grow taller..."

"Hmm... I don't know when you started to grow rapidly, but generally your height is about the same as the sixth grade girl in our country." Nora smiled with relief, "But it's not bad either, At least not easy to get old."

Mr. Xue listened to their conversation and forgot to translate. Hua Yinyin, who was standing next to him, immediately complained and pressed his head down: "Hey, hey, hurry up and translate! Otherwise, we won't understand anything!"

Remarks:

The reason I used the original English version of the dialogue without translation is because I was afraid some trolls would accuse me of padding the word count.

Actually, when this dialogue was first written in Chinese, it had more than 3,400 words, and now the English version is about 3,000 words.

Trolls are always scary. If you write in Chinese, they'll ask: Does the whole world speak Chinese?

If you translate it into English, they'll say it's just filler.

So I simply decided not to include a translator.

Of course, after I tried changing the parts of the dialogue from English to real English, I discovered something interesting.

That is, I seem to be able to empathize well with Hua Yinyin's pain.

I don't know if you noticed, but the only person who couldn't keep up and couldn't understand much was Hua Yinyin.

This can be considered a small detail that Yinniang made to make the book conform to realistic logic as much as possible.

It seems quite interesting, and I hope everyone enjoys watching it. As for the translation, please wait for kind people to help translate it in the comments section.

Chapter Sixty-One Target Range

Given that English is inconvenient to read, even English dialogues are presented in Chinese, but without an English version—it's either Chinese or English, to avoid being accused of padding the word count by people suffering from "a syndrome characterized by postural and motor dysfunction due to non-progressive brain injury."

range.

This was the first time Mo Xueyao had met him.

This was the first time Mr. Xue had ever touched a real firearm.

Hua Yinyin stared at the thighs of the girls coming and going.

Only Li Wanyan, looking slightly bored, held a bottle of super sweet Russian-style juice and sipped it slowly.

It was the third day of the Lunar New Year, and the hot spring soak was yesterday.

Last night, everyone agreed that Nora would pick them up again tomorrow, and they would go sightseeing in downtown Moscow together.

Mo Xueyao and Hua Yinyin's parents had disappeared and hadn't returned last night. They couldn't find them to ask for permission, so they simply gave up and took Nora's car to the city the next day.

To be honest, Mo Xueyao is really carefree. Although they had communicated in letters, they were still strangers in reality. Yet she trusted someone so much that she took a car out without worrying about anything bad happening.

Of course, it's probably because of her rescue yesterday that everyone, including Mo Xueyao, trusts Nora so much.

This is a three-story shooting range, and there is also an outdoor shooting range. Nora and the group rented a separate shooting room so that they could be free from outside interference.

It was actually just a private room filled with all sorts of firearms, which were available for use at will, and each gun was equipped with between one and thirty bullets.

The room is rectangular, with the first third of the space being shooting positions and rest areas, while the back part looks like a long corridor with targets at the end.

Besides static targets, there are also moving targets to choose from, but Mo Xueyao and the others don't need moving targets right now.

“Miss,” the range staff asked Nora, who was clearly Russian, “we’ve arranged a professional instructor for you…”

“No need. I’m a national level-two shooting athlete and have a professional hunter’s certificate. I’ll be responsible for assisting the beginners.” Nora tossed her red hair aside and said in Russian, “Thank you.”

"You're welcome. Please feel free to contact us if you need anything."

“Of course.” Nora snapped her fingers, and the latter tactfully left the room.

"Hey—why don't we play outside? It's so boring coming in!" Hua Yinyin muttered dejectedly.

"You just want to see Russian girls' thighs, don't you?" Mo Xueyao looked at her disdainfully. "Honestly, they're all pretty much the same, what's so interesting about them?"

"Of course Xiaoyao doesn't understand! Legs are a girl's second face..."

"Stop, if that kind of place is considered a face, it sounds too terrifying." Mo Xueyao interrupted Hua Yinyin's self-indulgent reverie. "Since we're here to play in a place like this, why don't we give it a try?"

"Hmm, only boys like this kind of thing, of course, little Yao Yao is an exception..."

"Nora likes it too."

"They're from a fighting nation, it's normal for them to like it," Hua Yinyin muttered. But since she was already there, it would be a waste to just look at it, so she picked up a heavy black pistol and examined it carefully.

“This pistol has a lot of recoil. If you’re a beginner, I suggest you start with a lightweight police pistol,” Nora said in English, standing next to Hua Yinyin, though the latter could barely understand her.

Mr. Xue acted as a translator, relaying Hua Yinyin's words to her, and then picked up a long, heavy-looking gun: "Is this a sniper rifle?"

“It’s not a professional sniper rifle, but you can use it as one—just attach a scope.” Nora handed another gun to Mr. Xue. “Try this one. It’s an improved version of the Type 38 rifle. It’s perfect for beginners. It has low recoil and high accuracy.”

Mr. Xue, who was usually calm, became slightly excited after touching the gun for the first time. He weighed the gun and tried to aim it at the front.

"If you want to play with it, load it with bullets, one bullet at a time, that's safer." Nora looked at Mo Xueyao and the others behind her and said, "I'll teach you one by one. You have to be careful when handling guns, so don't mess around with them on your own."

“Of course…” Mo Xueyao nodded vigorously, “Who isn’t afraid of death…”

In China, firearms are prohibited for civilians and are absolutely not openly sold in transparent shop windows like in Russia.

In China, it is virtually impossible for ordinary people to obtain a gun license, while in Russia it is as simple as issuing a regular professional skills certificate.

Mo Xueyao had only ever seen guns in movies and TV series. At most, she would buy replica guns in toy stores, but those guns used springs to fire BBs, and most of them were poorly made and would break after a short time.

This was the first time I had ever touched a real firearm with my own hands like this.

The firearm had a faint smell of machine oil, which was probably the smell of lubricating oil left over from routine maintenance.

In addition, there was a sulfurous smell. Having never actually seen a gun, Mo Xueyao could only describe it as the smell of fireworks after they had burned out.

“Here, put on your earmuffs first, so the noise won’t be too loud for your ears.” Nora handed the earmuffs to Mr. Xue, then took another Type 38 rifle and placed it on the firing port. “Look, like this, support the bottom with your left hand, grip the handle with your right hand, look here to aim, then grip firmly with both hands, and then pull the trigger.”

“Okay.” Mr. Xue nodded and put on the gray noise-canceling earmuffs.

"Hmm... wait a minute before you put it on, let me finish. You need to load the bullets like this: push this in, and then turn the bolt this way." Nora said, picking up a golden bullet and inserting it into the magazine. Then, she deliberately slowed down her movements as she pulled back the bolt, narrowed her eyes slightly, aimed at the target, and pulled the trigger.

"Bang!" The sound was louder than expected, perhaps because it was in a quiet room, which made it seem particularly loud.

Mo Xueyao instinctively covered her ears; it felt like firecrackers were going off in the room—maybe even more ear-piercing.

In TV series or movies, this kind of gun always seems to be the lowest-grade and most trash firearm, because you have to pull the bolt every time you fire a shot, which is far less satisfying than the burst fire of a fully automatic rifle.

In addition, this kind of gun often appears in anti-Japanese war dramas, and the gun itself is dirty. Sometimes it has some external damage, or it is missing a dust cover, which makes people look down on it even more.

But when you actually see it, you realize that it is quite powerful; the sound alone can stun someone who has never seen a gun before.

The seemingly slender gun body is actually quite thick, and the bullets are not arranged in a flat row like batteries, but rather have depth, with a spring at the bottom, so the bullets are pressed down.

"Remember to wear goggles." Nora placed the gun on the table. "Why don't you give it a try?"

"Okay." Mr. Xue took a deep breath, slightly excited, and clumsily imitated Nora's instructions to load the bullet, then pulled the trigger.

"Bang—!" Another sound, but this time Mo Xueyao seemed to have gotten used to it and didn't feel it was particularly loud.

"After firing one shot, press the trigger, pull the bolt back to eject the spent cartridge, and then reload!" Nora shouted loudly in Mr. Snow's ear, afraid he wouldn't hear her.

"Okay!" Mr. Xue gave an 'OK' sign, pulled back the bolt to eject the bullet, and then reloaded.

This time I was much more skilled than before.

Luckily, he was wearing goggles when he fired the shot, otherwise the sudden recoil might have hit his eyes.

Firearms possess an irresistible charm for men once they are manufactured, not to mention the relatively well-made firearms of modern times. Even if they are not fired, just using them has a mechanical beauty.

The clicking sounds captivated Mo Xueyao.

"Little Yaoyao acted like she'd seen a super handsome guy. Could she actually be a gun-sexual?" Hua Yinyin muttered to herself. Li Wanyan overheard her and quickly covered her mouth—she almost spat out her juice.

It takes real skill to make her laugh.

Mr. Xue fired ten bullets in one go, which was quite satisfying. However, although the recoil of the gun was very low, his arm was still a little sore after firing so many shots, which was a novice.

"Uh—I'm ready. Let Haruka try."

"I want to play with a pistol." Mo Xue pointed to the most classic-looking pistol. "That should be a Glock, right?"

"Yes, the rifles here are mostly semi-automatic, but we do have fully automatic pistols. Hmm, that one doesn't have too much recoil. Want to try it? But you might not be able to handle it if you fire in bursts."

"Give it a try!" Mo Xueyao shouted excitedly, gripping the pistol.

Unlike when she was teaching Mr. Xue, and perhaps because there were no other guns of the same type to demonstrate with, Nora stood behind Mo Xueyao and taught her step by step.

Even through her coat, she could feel the softness of the fabric, which distracted her somewhat. When the first bullet was fired, she was startled.

"Well!"

"what's wrong?"

"N-nothing...I didn't expect the vibration to be so strong..."

"It seems your arm strength isn't very good, Weiguang. You need to practice more. Let me hold your hand and fire a few shots first. You can feel it. Once you feel the recoil is okay, I'll let go and you can try firing one yourself. How about that?"

"Okay... um... I think it should be fine."

"bring it on."

So Nora let go, and Mo Xueyao squinted, imagining herself as a sharpshooter in a movie, before pulling the trigger.

"Bang—!" A shot was fired, but the pistol almost slipped from her hand, making her wince in pain.

"Are you alright?" Nora quickly helped remove the bullets and asked anxiously.

"It's alright, it's alright..."
