...

The dream abruptly ended.

Anjie suddenly opened her eyes and sat up abruptly.

Veins and blood vessels were visible on An Jie's neck and forehead, and cold sweat poured out continuously. At this moment, An Jie was like a drowning person who had just been rescued and was gasping for air.

Heavy breathing echoed in the quiet room.

"Phew... What... what is this...?"

Anjie covered one eye, and the exhaustion in the only eye that was exposed was hard to hide.

Looking out the window, it was already getting dark; night should be falling soon.

But it felt like she had only slept for a short while, and it had drained all her energy.

How are you feeling?

Anjie: "System, this memory..."

[The original owner of this body, the true Holy Maiden of Light, Ange Saint Mississippi.]

Anjie: ...

Reflecting on the dream.

She felt as if she had become a baby, held in a warm embrace, the familiar yet strange scent making Anjie's mind go blank.

She could naturally hear the voices of the two people talking in her dream.

Especially the woman holding her, whose gentle and sweet voice made Anjie's heart pound.

No matter how hard Anjie tried to think, she couldn't make out the woman's features; her face seemed to be shrouded in a white mist.

Castel...

The original owner of this body, the real mother of Ange Saint Missis?

But this sense of incongruity... is so strange.

Anjie rubbed her aching temples as waves of drowsiness washed over her.

Finally, she couldn't hold on any longer, her vision went black, and she collapsed onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.

...

Aisa Town, woods behind the mountain

Lena was carrying a small basket and wearing a small red hat.

Anjie picked out this dress for her.

Although I don't know why Anjie chose this outfit for herself, and why she kept talking about things like the big bad wolf, the old lady, and the hunter.

But judging from Anjie's happy smile, she was quite satisfied with her outfit.

Sensing Angela's unhappiness these past few days, Lena eventually got used to this style of dress in order to make Angela smile more.

"The church is running out of herbs. Hmm... I heard from Sister Qiong that Mother Anjie often says she goes to collect herbs, but why are there fewer and fewer herbs in the church?"

"Phew, whatever, there are probably just too many patients in this small town."

Naïve Lena naturally wouldn't think Angela was lying.

Although Lena is very young, she has a strong ability to perceive other people's emotions. This morning, she noticed that Ange's mood was somewhat low and heavy.

To cheer Angie up, Lena deliberately dragged Angie into playing games with her.

In her opinion, she is happy when she plays games, so if she wants to make Anjie's mother happy, she just needs to play games with her.

But Lena's plan naturally failed.

Left with no other choice, Lena could only do more "housework" to lighten Anjie's workload and alleviate some of Anjie's worries.

"Hmm...this should be an herb that can treat stomach aches. Wait, no, it's supposed to treat stomach aches, but is it meant to be used as a laxative? Never mind, it should be for stomach aches...yes, it should be..."

Lena nodded to herself and placed a herb in the "stomach medicine" compartment of the small basket.

But Lena hadn't even memorized all the medicinal properties of the herbs, let alone navigated the complex terrain of the forest.

When Lena looked up with satisfaction at her overflowing basket, she was surprised to find that she didn't recognize the surrounding area...

"Uh... which way is the church... well, I'll choose whoever the little rooster points to, hmm, the left one!"

Recalling the mantra that Angela's mother recited when making her choice, Lena also made a swift decision, patted her little basket, and confidently strode towards the path on the left.

The surrounding light grew dimmer and dimmer.

Just as Lena realized something was wrong, a strangely shaped altar appeared in front of her.

A cracked piece of glass lay on the edge of the altar, completely covered by a circle of weeds, but Lena spotted it immediately despite the level of concealment.

Children are always very curious.

Although Lena is very sensible, she is still in the "bratty" stage in terms of psychological age.

Lena curiously leaned forward and picked up the fragment. "Huh? What's this...?"

After observing that it was just an ordinary lens, Lena quickly lost interest in it and casually tossed it onto the altar.

At the same time, the first ray of cool moonlight pierced through the thick clouds, swept across the endless sky, passed through the dense leaves, and fell on the broken mirror, reflecting an eerie and beautiful light.

hum-

The altar is activated.

Chapter 61: Afterword + Author's Note on Book Launch

-----Postscript-----

Volume One – The Escaped Saintess, Completed.

This volume serves as a major setup for the entire story, but I personally feel it's somewhat imperfect.

But let's put those aside for now and talk about a few points about this book.

First, regarding the Cthulhu universe.

Readers interested in Cthulhu will know that there are a few monsters in the Cthulhu universe whose power is practically broken. However, in order to fit the world of this book, I will make certain reductions or enhancements while respecting the original work, and there will be no overly overpowered creatures.

Secondly, the love line.

Just like the introduction says, Nyarlathotep is Ange's true love! But as long as she can have him, this old pervert Ange will never let him go. Of course, please have some decency when things get a little too outrageous! (Don't be a filial son!)

Finally, regarding the next volume.

The next volume will be a climax in Anjie's emotional journey. It will also be the volume with the most chaotic situations involving Anjie!

Of course, there will be plenty of perks too. But I'll put those "extra content" in the group album, okay?

-----Available for Sale----

As the title suggests, this book has inevitably reached the point where it needs to be put on the shelves.

As for the matter of publishing, I don't have much to say. I write stories, and if you like reading them and think they're worth it, then you can make a living from them. If you don't like them or think other women are better than me, then I have no reason to morally blackmail you or anything like that.

When my editor asked me to write a launch message, I thought it over and decided against playing the victim. After all, the world is already full of unhappiness, so why listen to me, a storyteller, pouring out my troubles? I write books to make my readers happy, not to manipulate you into spending money on me.

Speaking of which, let's talk about tipping. Actually, I don't recommend you tip me. With that money, you could easily buy a dozen or so chapters of your favorite book, or even treat yourself to a piece of candy to sweeten your whole day, right? Of course, I'm happy to receive tips. But I'd be perfectly content with just some recommendation votes, monthly tickets, or even a few "blade" votes.

There's also the matter of extra chapters; today is the last day for the extra chapter bounty.

As you can see from the ps at the end of my chapter, I've been doing military training lately. I get up at 6:30 in the morning and train until 9:30 at night, not getting back to the dorm until 10. These past few days, I've been staying up until 1 or 2 a.m. to write these chapters. Actually, I could write filler chapters very quickly, but I don't think that's right. It would be demeaning to myself, disrespectful to my readers, and even more so, belittle my daughter, Anjie.

I'll add more chapters, but please give me some time. I'll make it up to you guys double when I'm on vacation, okay? ~mua~?

(Or we can add more "expanded content" to the if statements later.)

-----

Finally, regardless of whether you can continue to walk with me, please accept my blessings.

I don't have many (or any) female readers, but I still wish you all the best—

With eyes like clear pools that can hold the tenderness of the world, and a heart like crystal that reflects the most sincere feelings, you will surely meet and find the happiness that is most suitable for you.

And the boys—

May you be sincere in heart and mind, have smooth sailing, and eventually meet the one who belongs only to you and whose eyes are only for you.

Students, study hard! Those who pass the exams will definitely get into their favorite schools!

Come on.

Regardless of whether we can continue to be together,

Thank you for your support before. I look forward to continuing this journey together (me, you, Anjie, the anti-dandruff system...). Thank you, my darlings, I love you all!

Chapter 1, Section 62: A Beautiful Day Begins with a Disgusting System

Royal Cathedral, Council Chamber

Pope Jeremy sat high on her throne, gazing at the three chief judges below with a mysterious look.

Do you know why I called you here?

The Pope's words silenced the three judges.

But in the end, it was Gaya who stepped forward, adjusted her monocle, and replied calmly, "It's related to Ange, isn't it? I think we've already made things very clear about this."

"We must cancel the engagement with the royal family before we can bring Ange back."

The Pope rubbed his temples, where veins were bulging, and said angrily, "What are you three doing! She is a saint of the Church of Light, aren't you afraid that something might happen to her!?"

"She's still young, and it's one thing for her to act foolishly. But why do the three of you have to act like this too?!"

This isn't the first time they've talked about this.

Just as Joan was about to say something, Emil suddenly stood up, pointed at the Pope's nose, and started cursing: "Ah, you think you can look down on Ange?"
