Reina hummed.

Lili retorted defiantly, "Do you think your drawing is better than mine?!"

Rena hummed in agreement.

"Then you draw." Lili took an orange out of the bag.

Rena took it: "I'll draw!" She picked up the pen and started drawing quickly.

Rena finished drawing in no time.

"Haha..." Lili couldn't help but burst into laughter when she saw the face Reina had drawn: "Did you draw Zhang Fei? It's so ugly!"

Rena's face, with its thick eyebrows and big eyes, is deformed and really ugly.

"What are you laughing at!" Rena said, blushing. "What's so funny!"

"Hmph, you're not even as good as me!" Lili said.

"Yeah, right! My drawing is clearly better than yours! You...you, you drew an ugly monster, aren't you happy?" Rena said angrily, blushing.

Lili retorted, not to be outdone, "You drew an alien, and it's mindless!"

"Ugly monster!"

"alien!"

"You're clueless!"

"I'm not happy!"

The two of them started arguing, one after the other.

"Humph!"

Finally, the two turned their heads to the side, refusing to look at each other.

"Alright," Yi Yue advised, "Stop arguing, what's the point of this?"

"I forgive you for Dad's sake," Rena said, taking the opportunity to back down.

“I should be the one saying that,” Lili said.

The commotion passed quickly. Children are prone to arguing over trivial matters and also easily forget unpleasant things.

The two reconciled and started drawing oranges again.

"Daddy, Daddy, how's my drawing?" Rena showed the orange she had drawn to Itsuki.

Her drawing is noticeably better than before. It's not pretty, but it's not ugly either.

"Not bad, you've improved," Yi Yue praised.

Rena giggled and said, "I drew my dad. What do you think? Isn't it pretty?"

Izuki stared at the orange Reina had drawn for a while, lost in deep thought. She took an orange from the basket and called to Lili, "I asked you to draw a crying face."

"Okay, okay," Lili said.

Yi Yue picked up the pen and instructed, "First draw a few small dots, then draw a few eyebrows, a little fried egg, and write a crooked '益' character in the middle... Okay, all done!"

The orange that Izuki drew has this kind of face (?? Yi?).

"Brother's drawing is so good!" Lili said, looking at her own crying face. It was so ugly, like an ugly monster, and it was no fun at all.

"Hmph, this face is so exaggerated and funny," Rena laughed.

Izuki laughed and said to Lili beside her, "Don't you think this looks like Rena when there's nothing to eat?"

Lili had never seen Rena without food, but she still replied, "Yes, it looks just like Rena-neechan's expression right now."

"Cough cough cough..." Rena choked, "How is it similar!" She said to Itsuki with a hint of annoyance, "Well, so you, with your thick eyebrows and big eyes, have also betrayed the revolution. Dad, you weren't like this before!"

"Haha," Yi Yue laughed.

Rena puffed out her cheeks and poked the orange she had drawn with her index finger: "I'll poke you to death, I'll poke you to death!"

This orange is the one that Rena just mentioned, based on the drawing by Itsuki.

Rena's adorable appearance made Lili giggle.

"What's so funny!" Rena said angrily, picking up an orange. "I'll draw a face on you too!"

"Hmph, you think you're so good at drawing? I'll draw you too!" The two of them started drawing each other, not wanting to be outdone.

Yi Yue watched the two playing with a smile.

After playing for a while, I drew a lot of oranges and lined them up in a row.

"Alright, now it's time to eat the tangerines," Yi Yue said.

The group ate all the poorly drawn oranges, leaving only a few nice ones on the table.

"The tangerines are so sweet!" Yi Yue said. These tangerines were big, sweet, and delicious.

"I'm not drawing anymore, I really can't eat anymore." Rena smacked her lips; even the sweetest food can't fill an empty stomach.

“Who told you to draw so much?” Lili said.

Rena pouted, too lazy to refute.

"We still have a few oranges left, why don't we make orange lanterns?" Yi Yue said with a smile. "I wonder if any of you have studied Bing Xin's 'The Little Orange Lamp'."

“No,” Rena said. “I’ve never even heard of it.”

Lili blinked and asked, "Who is Bing Xin?"

"You don't even know Bing Xin?" Rena laughed. "Bing Xin... Bing Xin is..." She stammered, unable to explain herself. For a moment, she couldn't find the right words, so she mumbled and drew circles with her hand, saying, "It's Bing Xin."

"That's the same as saying nothing at all," Lili said disdainfully.

Rena blushed slightly.

Yi Yue said, "Bing Xin is a literary writer. Hmm, I think there's a story called 'The Little Orange Lamp' in my elementary school textbook, but I can't remember exactly. You'll learn about it naturally later." She glanced at Ling Nai, "You weren't paying attention in class again."

Chapter Seventy-Five Fanta

"No way! Dad, you're slandering me again!" Rena snapped, unwilling to lose face for her sister in front of Lili.

Izuki found it amusing and stopped joking with Reina, continuing, "The first step in making a tangerine lantern is to paint the tangerine's face."

"Is it just like the face my brother just drew?" Lili asked.

Yi Yue shook her head and laughed, "It's different. The face I drew just now was purely for fun, it just looked nice. The face I'm drawing now is the outline I'll cut out later. The eyes, nose, and mouth need to be drawn bigger so they're easier to cut."

Yi Yue picked up a marker and drew a pair of big, triangular eyes on the orange: "First, draw an eye, then a triangular nose, and finally a small mouth. Okay, all done."

Lili looked at the orange that Yiyue had finished drawing and said, "Isn't this just like the pumpkin lanterns on TV?"

"Lili is so clever, that's exactly how I drew it," Yiyue praised.

"Hehe." Lili laughed happily, she really liked it when Yiyue praised her.

“Then cut a slit in the top of the orange with a knife,” Yi Yue said, cutting the top of the orange open with a fruit knife. “Just scoop out the pulp and wash it with water. Wait here for me.”

Yi Yue went to the kitchen, scooped out the pulp with a spoon and put it in a small bowl. Then she washed the remaining pulp, took the washed oranges out, and went back to her room to get a utility knife.

"Be careful when you finish this step, don't get cut by the knife," Yi Yue reminded seriously, carefully cutting the outline drawn with a pen using a craft knife.

The utility knife was very sharp; slicing thin orange peel was as easy as cutting tofu. Just insert the knife, gently cut, and in no time, the orange lantern was roughly formed.

"So beautiful!" Lili's eyes lit up, and she was eager to try making an orange lamp herself.

Izuki is very skillful. Originally, Rena thought the orange lantern was just a joke; how beautiful could a lantern made of oranges possibly be?

But Rena hadn't expected that the orange lamp Izuki made would be so beautiful and marketable. She kept blinking, and felt a little tempted to try it herself.

"Hmm..." Yi Yue looked at her orange lamp and felt that something was missing.

"That's right." Yi Yue suddenly remembered, drew waves on the top of the orange with a pen, and then carefully cut it with a knife.

After cutting it, Yi Yue touched the wavy cut on the orange lamp and nodded in satisfaction. The perfectly smooth surface didn't look very nice overall; it looked a little odd. She took a nearly burnt-out candle from the TV cabinet and glued it to the bottom of the orange lamp. The orange lamp was finished.

"Brother, give me the pen, I want to make an orange lamp!" Lili said impatiently.

"Okay." Yi Yue smiled and handed the pen to Li Li. Li Li happily drew the orange lantern that Yi Yue had made.

"Hmph, I'll definitely make it prettier than Daddy's," Rena snorted, glancing at the orange lantern Izuki had made. "Daddy's is good, but I'll definitely make one prettier than his. Just you wait and see!"

As a result, half an hour later...

"Ugh, this orange is really messing with me!" Rena angrily threw the orange onto the coffee table. She had already ruined several oranges in a row.

"Hehe, it seems like Rena-neechan isn't up to the task," Lili laughed, carefully slicing the oranges. She hadn't wasted a single one, just worked slowly. In a few more minutes, she would be finished.

"No, it's...it's just that the oranges are too small. Yes, they don't look good. Do you even know what it means to strive for perfection?" Rena said, blushing slightly.

Lili laughed and said, "Alright, Rena-neechan, stop being stubborn. How about I give you this orange lamp after I finish making it?"

"No way!" Rena gritted her teeth and snorted, "A monk is fine, but I'm not? I'll show you what a real work of art is later—Darwin's Orange Lamp! Understand?"

Lili shook her head blankly.

Reina chuckled and said, "When Darwin was learning to paint, his teacher had him draw oranges to hone his skills. In the end, he became a genius that no one can surpass to this day."

"Rena-neechan knows so much." Lili nodded, seemingly understanding but not quite.

Rena kept humming and laughing.

Izuki gently tapped the smug Rena with her index finger.

"Ugh!" Rena covered her head and said unhappily, "Why did Daddy hit me!"

"What Darwin? It's Leonardo da Vinci. Besides, he drew an egg, not an orange." Yi Yue was both amused and annoyed. "Don't mislead Lili."

“What’s the difference between an orange and an egg? Aren’t they both round? You can draw an egg, but you can’t draw an orange.” Rena argued confidently. “By the way, when did Darwin change his name to Da Vinci?”

“They never changed their names! They are two completely different people!” Yi Yue laughed. “Darwin is about evolution, and the one who draws is Leonardo da Vinci.”

"Then let's say I remembered wrong. Listen to Dad, Fanta it is!" Rena said stubbornly.

"What is Fanta?" Izuki asked.

Rena stuck out her tongue. "Daddy's so silly. Fanta, it's orange flavored."
