As a child, he didn't like reading newspapers or watching the news, finding it boring and uninteresting.
But as she grew older, Yi Yue gradually began to care about national affairs, local news, and public opinion.
It's understandable that I didn't watch the news when I was a child, because I wasn't old enough and my mindset wasn't right. But if I don't watch it now that I'm older, I feel a bit closed off, like I'm falling behind the country's progress, and like I'm "blind to the world."
Although we live in a digital age, Yi Yue doesn't really like reading the news pushed by WeChat and Tencent. She feels it's just a way to grab attention and is too bizarre and superficial.
I still prefer reading paper newspapers or watching the evening news.
While reading the newspaper, Yi Yue came across a story about children facing excessive academic pressure and how parents, hoping their children would excel, enrolled them in numerous tutoring classes.
Next to it was a picture of a child carrying a huge backpack full of books, climbing a hillside, sweating profusely.
His parents were also carrying him on the back; his mother was holding a feather duster and pointing ahead. There were signs next to them, with arrows pointing to various tutoring centers.
The mountains stretch endlessly, each peak bearing the inscriptions of middle school entrance exams, college entrance exams, graduation certificates, and diplomas.
After reading it, Yi Yue sighed and whispered, "It's not the children who need stress relief, it's the adults who need it."
Hearing this, Yixue asked curiously, "What's wrong, Dad?"
Yi Yue shook her head and simply said, "It's nothing." Then she couldn't help but add, "Don't overwork yourself."
"Okay, Daddy." Yixue nodded obediently and smiled, "I know what I'm doing."
Yi Yue nodded, turned slightly, and looked at the clock standing in the living room.
It's 6:10 now, Rena should be up by now.
I was a little worried and wanted to go check on it. But I suppressed the thought.
“I set an alarm for Rena, she should be able to wake up by herself. I can’t always be following her around, otherwise when will she ever grow up?”
……
Rena is fast asleep in her room.
Beside it, an alarm clock lay upside down on the bedside table, its back facing upwards.
After sleeping for another twenty minutes, Rena slowly opened her eyes and groggily picked up the alarm clock: "What time is it now? Hmm, only 6:30..." she said, putting the alarm clock back.
Not long after closing her eyes, Rena suddenly opened them wide: "Thirty minutes!" She immediately threw up the covers and hurriedly started looking for her clothes. "Where are my clothes? Oh right, they're behind the door."
Rena took her clothes from the clothes rack behind the door and hurriedly put them on, complaining as she did so: "Ugh, it's so late, why didn't Dad wake me up? Oh no, I haven't even eaten yet, I'm going to be late if I keep putting it off."
Chapter Forty-Two Misfortunes Never Come Alone
Rena hurriedly put on her school uniform and was about to leave when she suddenly noticed the mess of homework on her desk.
"Oh no, I was too sleepy yesterday and forgot to put away my homework."
Rena cried out in despair, "Oh no, oh no, of all times... Ugh!"
With no other option, I ran to my desk and started tidying up the homework on it.
Rena's ballpoint pen, which she used for her homework yesterday, is still in its original place, with the cap still on.
You can imagine how messy the table was.
It's all a mess left over from yesterday.
Rena panicked and started stuffing things haphazardly into her bag. She didn't care about the size of the books, just stuffing them in. She even ignored the folded corners of the books from the mess.
She quickly stuffed all the books inside, zipped up her bag, and rushed to the bathroom, not noticing the political science book she had left behind.
……
At the dinner table, Yi Yue was getting impatient. She put down her newspaper, checked the time, and realized it was almost 6:50.
With a helpless sigh, he thought Rena would get up on her own. He suppressed the urge to get up and see her time and time again, but after waiting for so long, she still didn't come out.
"I'm so disappointed. I still have to wake her up." Izuki was a little disappointed and was about to get up to wake Rena when she saw Rena rushing down the street in a flurry.
"Phew..." Rena breathed a sigh of relief, glanced at the time, and knew that as long as she ate quickly, she definitely wouldn't be late.
"Why are you so late for dinner?" Yi Yue asked, displeased.
Rena said unhappily, "It's all your fault, Dad. How could you forget to wake me up for breakfast?"
Izuki playfully flicked Rena's nose, a little annoyed: "You still dare to complain? Didn't I remind you to get up? You said you were too sleepy and wanted me to sleep a little longer. I even set an alarm, and you're still blaming me."
"Huh, is that true?" Rena blinked. "I think I vaguely remember it, but I can't quite recall it."
"What do you mean 'I have a vague impression'?" Yi Yue was furious. "You don't think you're dreaming, do you?"
Faced with Itsuki's scolding, Rena lowered her head dejectedly and stuck out her tongue, seemingly admitting it was true. She really did think what had happened before was a dream...
"Alright, let's eat first, or we'll really be late." Yi Yue scooped a bowl of rice porridge.
Rena took the rice porridge and immediately began to eat it hurriedly.
"Cough cough..." Rena ate too fast and choked.
Izuki was both angry and helpless. She gently patted Rena's back to help her catch her breath: "Don't rush, eat slowly, you won't be late."
Rena caught her breath and muttered softly, "It's been so long, why is the rice porridge still so hot?"
"It's still hot in the pot, of course," Yi Yue said. The rice porridge she had put in earlier had gone cold, so she added the hot rice porridge from the pot, but it was still a bit too hot.
"Dad's so stupid, couldn't he have put it in a bowl and let it cool down a bit?" Rena pouted.
Hearing what Reina said, Yixue, who was reviewing her notes next to her, couldn't help but smile and curled up her lips.
Izuki tapped Rena's forehead lightly with her index finger, annoyed. "You're the smartest, okay? Hurry up and eat."
Rena pouted and said, "I'm naturally very smart!" As she spoke, she picked up a spoon and slowly put the porridge into her mouth.
I choked on my porridge because I drank it too fast, so now I'm afraid to drink it too fast and can only drink it slowly.
I've been drinking for about ten minutes now, and it's exactly seven o'clock.
I usually have free time to wash dishes and clean for Yiyue, but I obviously don't now, so I can only do it when I get home.
Rena and Izumi walked out of their respective rooms, carrying their schoolbags.
Yi Yue took out a bottle of honey water from the kitchen and put the water cup in the bag next to their schoolbags.
Tell them to wait at the main gate, and go to the garage to get your car.
Rena, standing at the door, breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank goodness, there's still time. The first period is the homeroom teacher's class; if I'm late, I'll be in big trouble."
"So, it's best not to sleep in late in the future," Yixue said.
Reina, unusually, did not disagree with Yixue, but gently hummed in agreement and nodded.
Yi Yue parked her car at the entrance.
The two of them would usually argue quietly about who should sit next to Yiyue, but now that they were almost late, they didn't have the time for that.
Reina hurriedly opened the back door, and Yixue followed suit. Both of them ended up sitting in the back seat.
Yi Yue drove off and was about to take the small road ahead when a van came towards her, followed by several electric scooters.
How is he supposed to drive it out of here?
With no other option, she had to back up the car and wait until all the vehicles, big and small, had passed before Yi Yue drove it out.
This back-and-forth took a lot of time.
Rena asked with some concern, "Won't we be late?"
Yi Yue turned around and comforted her, "How could that be? Don't worry, I definitely won't be late."
Rena nodded, but she had a bad feeling about it.
Yixue sat calmly to one side, reviewing her notes in a booklet.
It seemed to confirm Rena's ominous premonition.
When I'm on my way to school, there are very few red lights. Even if there are, they're usually gone quickly.
But this time was different; this was the third red light, wasting several minutes.
To make matters worse, there was a traffic jam on the road.
Looking at the long line of cars on the highway ahead, Rena covered her eyes in despair.
"It's okay to be a little late, don't worry," Izuki comforted her, seemingly already confirming that Reina was late.
"Ugh!" Rena cried out in anguish.
Yi Yue comforted her, "It's alright, look, Yi Xue didn't say anything."
Yixue remained calmly seated to one side. She didn't continue reading the booklet but instead gazed at the scenery outside the window.
"It's different! The first class today is taught by that old witch, the math teacher. Ugh, if she catches me, I'm doomed!" Rena said in anguish.
Izuki said somewhat unhappily, "Rena, how could you say that about the math teacher?"
"Whatever, I'm going to die anyway!" Rena muttered softly.
Yixue glanced at Lingna, then her gaze flickered and she suddenly noticed something. She reached out and touched Lingna's pants pocket.
"What are you doing?" Reina instinctively slapped Yixue's book away, looking unhappy.
I'm already late, and I'm in a bad mood, why are you bothering me?
Yixue pointed at Lingna's pants, a smile on her face: "Are your pants on backwards?"
Rena was stunned when she heard this, and said in disbelief, "No, I can't be that unlucky, can I?" She checked her pants pockets and found that she really had put them on inside out.
"Waaaaah, no way!"
Rena cried out in despair once more.
The school trousers were black and looked the same on both sides. I was in such a rush this morning that I accidentally put them on inside out.
No wonder I felt so awkward wearing it; it turns out I was wearing my pants inside out.
Seeing Yixue smiling softly to the side, he felt a surge of anger.
