It wasn't that he didn't want gold coins, but that he didn't want to be looked down upon.

Lu Ming wasn't actually short of money. Even setting aside the small amount of gold coins he'd gotten from the weapons and equipment he'd acquired in the game, it was more than just a small bag of gold. Furthermore, in Miracaiser, only the Grand Duke and the Emperor had the authority to bestow rewards upon nobles! And if a noble accepted a reward from someone without power, they would be looked down upon. So why would Lu Ming do this for such a small amount of money?

As Lu Ming walked step by step toward Agamemnon, a city that the commoners, who were almost ecstatic about receiving a reward, called by them, he saw someone at the city gate—someone he knew very well.

"Lu Ming!!" Perhaps he saw Lu Ming, the man immediately raised his hand, waving and shouting.

"Oh! I'm back!" Lu Ming replied loudly with a smile.

That person was You'er Xika, and Lu Ming was her good friend, a true and genuine friend.

Walking briskly to the city gate, Lu Ming reached out and patted You'er Xika's little head, then said goodbye to the commoners and entered the city with her.

"Do you know how worried we were about you during the three months you were missing?"

"I've been missing for three months!? I've only been gone for a day or two, okay?"

"Stop lying! It's almost autumn already!!"

"..."

Walking through the vast city of Agamemnon, Yu'er Sika's words left Lu Ming somewhat bewildered. Because the timeline within the instance differed from that of Puru, Lu Ming believed he had been away for no more than three days. But...

"Three months..." While thinking, Lu Ming was taken by You'er Sika to the home in Agamemnon that she had mentioned.

"Welcome back!" Before Lu Ming or You'er Xika could knock on the door, Lily and Sham ran out from the outer room and hugged him tightly.

"I'm back." Holding his two fiancées, looking at his daughter and two maids who were watching him in the house and were about to cry, Lu Ming said with a smile.

-----------------------------------

The next morning, Lu Ming was forcibly pulled out of the gentle embrace of his two fiancées by his daughter Kanina and went out with her.

The father and daughter walked down the street, eating their breakfast in silence, neither of them saying a word.

After a long silence, Kanina spoke, her voice tinged with sadness, "She's dead?"

"Yes..." Lu Ming subconsciously touched his amber eyes hidden under his clothes and said with a somber expression, "She's dead..."

"Then why did I...?"

"Parallel world."

"what?"

"I once saw a saying that everyone in the world has countless choices. And for each choice, there is a completely parallel world."

"So, does that mean I chose to be with your daughter, not this daughter of yours?"

“You are my daughter! That will never change. Even if that stupid woman dies, it will never change.” Seeing Kanina’s almost tearful expression, Lu Ming hugged her.

"Aren't you an idiot yourself?" Kanina nestled in Lu Ming's arms, tears streaming down her face.

"Yeah! I'm an idiot too!"

-----------------------------------

Walking along the road, Lu Ming and Kanina encountered Viscount Saldallo, from whom they learned that the Grand Guild had awarded Lu Ming a territory bordering Niflheim and another count's territory in Erebus. However, his superior remained unchanged—the count of Niflheim. This left Lu Ming with a complex mix of emotions; the initial exploitation, the subsequent love, had all occurred there. Now, his instinct was to leave that awful place, to avoid being haunted by those unpleasant memories. Unfortunately…

"By the way, Princess Ella of the royal family arrived in Erebus yesterday. My father, the lord of Erebus, intends for you to accompany Her Highness, and your daughter has also been chosen."

Upon hearing this news, Lu Ming exclaimed in surprise, "What's going on with Kanina being selected as well?"

“Our Princess Ella is the same age as your daughter Kanina! Do you understand?”

Lu Ming shook his head.

"Our idea was that since they're the same age, they're bound to have some things in common. That's why..."

"Aren't you afraid she'll corrupt Her Highness?" Lu Ming interrupted Viscount Saldallo. He looked at the innocent-looking Kanina with some unease, as if he could already see a princess just as mischievous as her.

"Hey! I'm your daughter! How can you say that?!" Kanina shouted angrily when Lu Ming gave her a very unpleasant look.

At this moment, Saldallo also spoke up for Kanina, saying, "I know very well what kind of girl Kanina is. In my opinion, you're not worried that Kanina will corrupt Her Highness, but rather that you find this job troublesome, right?"

"Tch! Did you see through me?" Seeing that his thoughts had been exposed by Saldallo, Lu Ming immediately looked to the side.

Almost because Lu Ming was genuinely worried that he would corrupt Princess Kanina, she suddenly flew into a rage and bit Lu Ming's hand, causing him to scream in pain. This amused Viscount Saldallo, who couldn't help but laugh.

"Let go! Let go! Let go! The meat is about to fall off!!"

Lu Ming, who wasn't actually in much pain, made an exaggerated scream, which made Kanina think she had bitten him too hard, so she let go of him.

But little did she know that the moment she agreed, Lu Ming vanished in a flash!

"Kanina, what's wrong with your father?" Saldallo asked the sullen Kanina, somewhat dumbfounded, as he watched Lu Ming ride off into the distance towards his home in Agamemnon.

"Who knows him!" Kanina retorted angrily, then abandoned Viscount Saldallo and went after Lu Ming on her own.

Upon seeing this, Viscount Saldallo gave a wry smile and returned to his residence.

On the other side, after running for a while, Lu Ming stopped and stood in front of a weapon shop, waiting for his daughter, Kanina.

After only a few minutes, Kanina caught up with him. She glared at him fiercely, making Lu Ming burst out laughing.

"Alright, alright! Stop fooling around. Come with Daddy, let's go buy a new bow." Hugging his sulking daughter, Lu Ming smiled as he walked into the weapon shop.

"Humph!"

Upon seeing the emblem on Lu Ming's clothes, the shop owner and a shop assistant immediately approached him respectfully and asked, "My lord, what do you need?"

After looking through all the weapons in the shop but not finding a good bow, Lu Ming asked the shopkeeper, "Um, do you have any decent bows here? Preferably a stiff bow."

Upon hearing that Lu Ming wanted to buy a bow, the shopkeeper immediately ran to a room in the shop and brought out a large box.

"This was given to me by an adventurer ten years ago. It's the best bow I have in my shop!" the shopkeeper said, opening the box to reveal a jet-black longbow inside.

"This is..." Although this bow isn't as famous as those in Dark Souls, it's still a pretty good weapon in Puru. So, as soon as Lu Ming saw it, he decided to buy it. He immediately asked the shopkeeper, "How much are you planning to pay for this bow?"

"Exactly ten gold coins!"

Hearing the price, Lu Ming was momentarily stunned, but quickly recovered. While the bow was quite good, it wasn't an enchanted weapon or some kind of divine artifact; the price was already very high. In fact, the shopkeeper was probably ripping him off!

After considering the value of the bow, Lu Ming did not hesitate to take out a bag of ten gold coins, which were the ones he had received from the main quest, and gave them to the shopkeeper to buy the bow!

"Is this broken bow really that valuable? Did that person cheat you out of your money, Dad?" Not long after leaving the weapon shop, Kanina took the black bow that Lu Ming had bought, examined it carefully, and then asked Lu Ming.

"To be honest, this bow isn't worth ten gold coins, maybe eight or nine at most. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that this bow's abilities are many times better than those so-called enchanted weapons!"

"Wow! Really?"

Seeing that Kanina didn't believe him, Lu Ming took her to a quiet little park, put the bow into Kanina's phone, and told her to read the item description herself.

"The Dragonbow: The magic bow of the scholar of original sin, Andil."

Legend has it that this bow was a magical bow with a bowstring made of the sinews of a dragon and bow limbs made of the bones of an earth dragon. Its original owner was Adil, but because Adil's archery skills were poor, it was abandoned. Finally, the magical bow mysteriously disappeared from Adil's mansion.

Special Note: Due to the curse of the Earth Dragon and the Guardian Dragon, enchantments will transform into completely opposite attributes upon infusion. For example, fire will become dark, dark will become lightning, and lightning will become magic, etc.

"Uh..." After reading the item description, Kanina realized just how sharp Lu Ming's eye was! Lu Ming was the only person who could find treasures so easily.

"Now you understand?" Lu Ming patted Kanina's head and took the Weilong Bow from Kanina's phone with a smile. He then took out a Ghost Stone from his own phone, which Kanina was a little scared of, and enchanted the Weilong Bow.

The enchantment of Ghost Stone is terrifying because the enchantment method involves the ghosts inside breaking free of the Ghost Stone's restraints, rushing to the enchanted weapon, circling around it, and finally merging into it.

But the moment the enchantment was completed, lightning flashed and crackled on the Dragonbow, before gradually quieting down after a while.

Holding the bow, Lu Ming drew back the Wei Long Bow without an arrow, only to find lightning gathering on the bowstring where his fingers were! Clearly, if Lu Ming held an arrow while drawing back the bowstring, the lightning would gather on the arrow, imbuing it with electricity.

Chapter Eleven - Odysseus's Territory and the Princess

"Odysseus's Domain is the closest baronial territory in Niflheim to Agamemnon, bordering both Agamemnon and Muspelheim. The territory contains four villages and one major town, primarily producing the pelts and meat products of various domesticated magical beasts. Agriculture isn't particularly developed, but it's still quite good. The annual wheat and barley production is enough to feed the residents, and the surplus is sold for tax revenue."

Lu Ming sat in the chair, carefully looking at the letter of appointment that had been delivered to him and Kanina after they bought the bow and returned home, while listening to Sham's introduction of his territory.

"So, what are the shortcomings of this place?" After listening to Sham's introduction, Lu Ming put the letter of appointment in his hand into a box and asked.

"Hmm... the only downside is that it's too close to Mount Chiron in Muspelheim!"

"Chiron...is there something there?"

"A bunch of centaur bandits!"

Lu Ming paused for a moment, then asked, "Robbers?"

Sham nodded and continued, “Yes. Centaur bandits. They live in a secret cave in the Chiron Mountains and make their living by robbing the people of Baron Odysseus's territory. The previous Lord Odysseus was killed by an arrow when he led his soldiers to resist them!”

"So, does that mean I have to be careful when dealing with them?"

"Yes!"

Lu Ming glanced at the Erebus map that Sham had hung on the wall, and after a while, asked, "Didn't Muspelheim do anything to wipe out those bandits?"

"Unfortunately, because the centaurs' targets have always been Niflheim, Muspelheim has no intention of eliminating them. If we in Niflheim were to send troops to eliminate the centaurs, it would be seen as an attack on Muspelheim, and the two countlands would be plunged into war! So if we want to eliminate the centaurs, we can only hire mercenaries with questionable character."

"Is there a problem with his character?"

"Mercenaries and soldiers are two different things. Soldiers are military men who are dedicated to serving the lords and people within their territories. Mercenaries, on the other hand, are just a bunch of money-grubbing bastards who will do anything for whoever pays them the most. They don't care about the people at all. So, under normal circumstances, nobles would rather passively defend themselves than hire mercenaries. Only some merchants will hire them to protect their goods, but there are often cases where mercenaries take the money, kill people, and steal goods."

After hearing all this, Lu Ming felt that his future was bleak and not as simple as he had imagined.

Seeing that he had turned completely gray, Sham immediately went to his side, sat in his lap, and said with a smile, "Actually, you don't need to worry so much. With the strength of the two of us, dealing with those centaurs is actually very easy. You know, if we just lay an ambush, they'll be nothing more than a bunch of legless horses!"

"I'm not worried about those centaurs. What I'm worried about is what the Grand Duke wants to do by sending the princess to my territory?" Holding Sham's curvaceous body, Lu Ming smiled slightly and said.

"That's true. In any case, it's inappropriate to send the princess to your barony. It's hard to believe he did it without ulterior motives."

"I now suspect that he actually wanted to use those centaurs to kill the princess and then frame us."

"He could very well make my loyal father his scapegoat, and have you take the blame for him and be punished by the royal family!"

At this moment, Lily knocked on the door, came in, kissed Lu Ming, and said, "Our princess has been sent here by Viscount Hadist."

"..." Lu Ming and Sham exchanged a glance, then immediately stood up, straightened their clothes, and went to see Princess Ella.

-----------------------------------

As soon as Lu Ming entered the living room, he saw a little girl about the same age as Kanina sitting on his sofa. She was dressed in gorgeous clothes, and her demeanor and appearance were very elegant. But her personality seemed to belong to the type of little witch.

"Baron of Erebus, Lord of Odysseus, Lu Ming the Sword-Biting Wolf greets Your Highness!" Following Miracaesar's etiquette, Lu Ming bowed to the princess.

“Ella Unos, the Golden Dragon of Miracaissa. It’s a pleasure to see you again, my teacher!” Princess Ella sat up and nodded slightly. But what she said made Lu Ming pause for a moment.

Unaware of what was happening, Lu Ming sensed a conspiracy and immediately said, "I'm sorry, Your Highness, I don't know what you're talking about. And, isn't it a bit... a bit..."

But before he could finish speaking, Viscount Saldallo interrupted him abruptly.

“Lu Ming, the princess came to Erebus to learn soul magic. But as you know, the person who knew this magic is dead. So she can only learn the Faran-style soul magic from you.”
