Count Vlad thought for a moment and then said truthfully, "The other day was New Year's Day, and Lu Ming prepared a gift for his fiancées. Mena received a shop."

“Although you made a deal with Ozmoz and the Hatu family, they shouldn’t bother you with a shop, right?” Rael looked at Vlad with some curiosity.

“The problem is, the items sold in the shop are weapons and armor from Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, as well as some magical notes on Soul Arrow,” Count Vlad said, scratching his face somewhat awkwardly.

Upon hearing this, Lothric and Rellston were immediately shocked.

"What did you say? Things from the Icy Valley, including soul magic?"

As soon as the words left his mouth, Rael and Lothric reacted instantly, forcibly suppressing their shock and looking at Vlad with eyes that seemed to say "you're an idiot."

"Do you think it was a stupid thing for your daughter to take over that shop?"

Vlad shook his head and said, "No, even if I were stupid, I wouldn't tell my daughter to refuse her fiancé's New Year's gift. That would be tantamount to suicide. What I think she did wrong was that she embezzled the shop's profits."

Hearing Count Vlad say this, Lothric nodded and said, "You're not stupid; you still know that the shop must be taken over. However, embezzling profits is a big deal. On the one hand, it could be said to be a momentary lapse in judgment, forgetting the other sisters. On the other hand, it could be an attempt to hoard money, preparing to challenge Hatu, Ozmoz, and Hylas, who have the potential to become the principal wife."

"These are also things I'm worried about."

“But you’ve forgotten one thing. If that were really the case, how could Lu Ming have remained silent? I think he’s currently trying to see whether you’re on Ozmoz’s side or Hatu’s side,” Lothric said after frowning and thinking for a while.

If Lu Ming were here now, he would definitely slap this bastard who was spouting nonsense. He didn't have such thoughts at all; everything Losrik came up with on his own.

Unfortunately, Lu Ming was in Odysseus's territory at the moment and not here. So Vlad agreed with Lothric's wild speculation and nodded, saying, "It seems I really have to choose a side."

At this point, Rells suddenly asked, "By the way, is your family going to Odysseus?"

“My husband and I will both go. As for Mena’s siblings, we’ll probably only bring the youngest one,” Vlad said, somewhat puzzled, not understanding what Rells meant.

"Three people? The Hatu family will definitely send a lot. The Ozmoz family will also send their entire force. Even the church will probably send quite a few people. And your family is only sending three people... Are you looking down on the former hunter chief, or what?" Looking at Count Vlad with an expression as if he were an idiot, Reys kindly reminded him, "Your whole family would be better off going."

Vlad was left bewildered by Rael's words and looked at Lothric with a hint of pleading.

Unfortunately, Lothric's answer was the same as Rael's: "You all'd better go."

After pondering for a while, Vlad finally reacted and hurriedly said, "I understand. I will definitely go with my family."

“Hmm!” Rells nodded in satisfaction and smiled, “Lu Ming is a lord of a region no matter what. If you only send one or two people, he might think you are looking down on him. So it’s best not to do that.”

"Moreover, showing your family the mansions of true noble lords will spur them on and encourage them to strive for more, instead of just sleeping all day on Mount Chiron." (To be continued.)

Chapter Thirty - Wedding I

The day before Lu Ming's wedding, Grand Duke Raelus, along with members of the Lothric, Amon, Ozmoz, and Vlad families, arrived in Odysseus's territory.

After greeting Philna and Mena's parents, Lu Ming took the Grand Duke, Lothric, and Hemfies to the restaurant to ask for their advice on what flavor of cake would be best for the wedding the next day. Naturally, Grand Duke Rael's two fiancées and Sham's brother, Muka, also joined the advisory group.

However, how could Sham and Philner not know what their younger siblings were thinking?

So both of them warned their younger siblings not to eat too much, lest they become fat.

Seeing the somewhat dejected Xiumira and Muka, Lu Ming, as their brother-in-law, smiled helplessly and asked Wang Na to cut them some cakes of different flavors. Although they weren't very big, at least they could make the two gluttons happy.

Watching his two fiancées sitting across from Muka, enjoying their meal, Reys said somewhat awkwardly, "I didn't know they had this side to them."

"So, aren't you a bit of a failure as a fiancé?" Lu Ming, who was discussing with Lothric and Hemphis whether the cream was a bit too sweet, turned around and glanced at Rael, and laughed: "Your fiancée doesn't even dare to act cute in front of you."

Upon hearing this, Reys couldn't help but think of his father, the previous Grand Duke. He then went to his two fiancées and personally fed them, hoping to express his affection for them.

"It seems the Grand Duke isn't as cold-blooded as his father," said Hemfis, a man in his thirties or forties, with a smile as he watched his niece and Philna's sister being fed.

"To conquer the world, one must be ruthless and merciless; to defend it, one must be benevolent and virtuous. The previous ruler was the one who conquered the territory of Erebus, while the current Grand Duke is the one who defends it; naturally, they are different."

“That makes sense.” Hemphis and Lothric both laughed and started eating other things, offering their advice.

Meanwhile, Sham's mother, along with the elderly Ozmoz and Vlad, were chatting in Lu Ming's study on the third floor.

More than tomorrow's wedding, they are now concerned about the future distribution of power for their daughter.

Sham has administrative control, Philna received the newly formed caravan in the inland territory, and Mena received a valuable shop. But how should these profits be distributed?

On the surface, Sham seems to have the most power, but in reality, he receives the least benefit. Leaving aside the fact that Philna's caravans are incredibly wealthy, Mena's shops alone earn more than a thousand gold a month from itinerant merchants from all over!

This was something the Hatu family, seemingly the lowest in status but actually the most powerful, could not tolerate. It's important to remember that Philna and Mena were only able to stay by Lu Ming's side because of Sham's help. Now, they weren't giving Sham even the slightest benefit—wasn't that going too far?

Unfortunately, the power struggle among the three families was interrupted by their daughter.

"What are you arguing about? The people downstairs can hear us!" Sham said angrily as he pushed open the door.

Sham, who had been having a wedding dress made for Mina with Philna, Lily, and the others, overheard her mother arguing with Philna's parents and Mina's parents, and had to come and stop them.

In Sham's view, these people weren't advocating for her, Fernana, and Mena's interests at all; they were just causing trouble. Keep in mind that the current lord of Odysseus Territory is Lu Ming, and the three of them are merely Lu Ming's wives. They're already quite fortunate to have received these things. Other nobles wouldn't even allow them to manage a single merchant, let alone shops!

Besides, how could Lu Ming possibly let them hold onto everything? What would be the point of having him as the lord if he did?

"Luckily, Lu Ming and the others are on the first floor. Otherwise, if he and the Grand Duke had heard this, how would you have handled the situation?"

Seeing that their argument had attracted Sham, who was in a wedding dress shop on the second floor, the older folks suddenly became quite friendly and dared not argue anymore. So far, they had only attracted Sham; if Lu Ming had overheard their argument, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Putting everything else aside, the very change in the Grand Duke and others' impressions of them is a huge problem. Although Sham's mother doesn't care about this...

"I don't want to hear you arguing anymore, okay? Besides, regarding the benefits you're talking about, we all get the same amount. Don't worry about it anymore!" After saying a few words with a frown, Sham turned and left, leaving the old men in the study.

After Sham left, the elders exchanged glances, unsure of what to say. Finally, it was old Ozmoz, who wasn't really keen on discussing the children's interests, who spoke first, shifting the topic to tomorrow's wedding.

Meanwhile, Sham had just returned to his room, ready to continue discussing the wedding dress with the others. He found Mena, who had been happily trying on various wedding dresses with him, now sitting in a chair, looking dejected as she watched the others try on theirs. Philna and Miral were comforting her.

Seeing this, Sham naturally knew what was going on. Mena, who had just been happily trying on her wedding dress, suddenly heard her father arguing with Sham and Philna's parents, and naturally, her mood soured. After all, tomorrow was the day she was to marry Lu Ming.

“They did it for you, so don’t be angry with them anymore. Besides, no matter what, we’re still best friends, aren’t we?” Sham walked up to Mena, patted her head, and smiled.

"Yes!" Mena nodded emphatically, then rejoined the group trying on wedding dresses. However, it was somewhat different from before.

Sham couldn't do anything about it, since she herself wasn't in a good mood either.

She and Lu Ming were a loving couple who supported each other. Lu Ming trusted her completely, even entrusting her with the management of his most important territory. But her mother's actions today made her feel as if she had betrayed his trust. Everyone had heard the argument; Mena and Philna could no longer monopolize the profits from Lu Ming's caravans and shops, which were rightfully theirs. They would inevitably share some with others. And among all of Lu Ming's fiancées, the one who received the most was Sham.

Putting aside management rights, the loyalty of a large portion of the hunters and the profits gained by the family already far exceed those of Mena's shops and Philna's caravan. If she accepts the benefits offered by Mena, isn't she essentially telling Lu Ming, "What you've given is far from enough?"

This way, even if Lu Ming likes her a lot, he will have to think about what she really thinks.

"Greed is a terrible thing, and it's a pity that even I, who am usually so self-disciplined, still inexplicably made a mistake in the end..." Sham sighed inwardly, glancing at the two Lilies who were in charge of the guards...

Because of her concerns, after dinner, Sham frankly told Lu Ming about the argument the older generation had had over her interests with Philna and Mena.

In response, Lu Ming said, "They can think whatever they want, and you should do what you want to do. Besides, neither you nor they need to worry that I will be angry about this; after all, they are doing it for your own good."

"But I'm afraid it will make you think I'm a greedy woman. I've already received so much." Lying in Lu Ming's arms, Sham said with some worry.

Lu Ming reached out and touched Sham's beautiful face, and laughed, "Do you think I don't know what kind of person you are?"

After saying that, Lu Ming kissed Sham's lips and then pinned him down.

-----------------------------------

Early in the morning, Lu Ming got out of bed, dressing and contemplating the wedding arrangements. A faint smile played on his lips as he looked at the soundly sleeping Sham and Philna and Mena, who had unexpectedly barged in the night before. A warm feeling filled his heart. He, who had once been mocked by his best friends as a lifelong bachelor, was finally getting married. And to several beautiful girls at that! If his friends knew, they would be green with envy! It was a pity he would never see them again. He could never prove to them that he was capable of marrying and having children.

He quietly left the room and then quietly closed the door. Finally, Lu Ming went to the guest room on the fourth floor prepared for his superiors and elders, and woke up Lothric, Hemphis, and Rael to prepare for the upcoming wedding.

"What are you doing! Why did you wake us up so early? It's not even dawn yet!" Duke Rael, still half asleep, glanced out the window and, seeing that the sun hadn't risen yet, began to complain with some dissatisfaction.

Unfortunately, Hemphis said, "Under normal circumstances, it is indeed time to get up and start working."

"..." Raels looked at Hemphis in utter shock, staring at him in disbelief.

"I wonder if the Grand Duke will even be able to wake us up when he gets married," Lothric joked, shrugging.

Upon hearing this, Rael was immediately speechless.

At this moment, Lu Ming brought them some breakfast and said to them, "Because I don't have any relatives here, you guys have to help me."

"So what should we do?"

"The Earl of Losrick received foreign guests and visitors."

"it is good."

"Count Emmanuel is the host."

"can."

"The Grand Duke will be the best man."

"Why?!"

"That damn Nero only arrived at noon!"

Upon hearing this, Reilston flew into a rage and said viciously, "That guy deliberately ran away, didn't he? Just wait until he gets here, I'll make sure he's dead!"

"Do whatever you want as long as there's no bloodshed!" Lu Ming had absolutely no sympathy for Nero, who deserted the battlefield and didn't arrive at Odysseus's territory early on!

At that very moment, Count Nero Catolo, who was sitting in the same carriage as Viscount Camilles who had come to pick him up, suddenly sneezed for no apparent reason.

"I think Lu Ming and those guys from Lothric are cursing me right now," Nero said uneasily, blowing his nose.

"You are a friend of Viscount Lu Ming, and your relationship with Earl Hemphis Amon is also quite good. Yet you chose to desert your post, and those two are probably plotting against you now!" Viscount Camels, who had drunk the alchemical potion and transformed into human form, adjusted his glasses, then sighed and said, "I suspect that even the Grand Duke, who was conscripted because of you, is now scheming against you!"

Upon hearing this, Nero was immediately frightened and murmured, "Won't they do something terrible?"

Carmel smiled slightly and said, "It's hard to say. Although they probably won't go too far, you definitely won't be able to escape."

"What should I do? Not go? If I don't go, they'll kill me!"

Carmel thought for a moment, then said, "I think you can ask Archbishop Tut for help. He is the officiant at Viscount Lu Ming's wedding. With him there, Viscount Lu Ming and the Grand Duke should not go too far."

Upon hearing this, Nero knew that only Archbishop Tutt could save him.

However, after a moment of silence, Nero asked again, "What do you think Sham and Philna will do with Zalak and Mshu?"

"I don't know what will happen to Zalak, but Mshu will definitely die a horrible death! Putting aside the fact that he didn't go to Sham's wedding because he was having a secret rendezvous with that woman, just the fact that that woman is from a family that is the sworn enemy of the Hatu family is enough to subject Mshu to a baptism of qi." Camilles shook her head helplessly. She was really at a loss as to what to do with those two bastards who gave up attending their sister's wedding for the sake of a woman and even asked her and Nero for leave.

"Mush has fallen for the daughter of a sworn enemy, while Zalak has fallen for a beast-like hunter in the lab. If it were Lu Ming, he might just let them be. But if it's their strong-willed older sisters, things could get complicated. I'm really... delighted to see these two hunters, who are improving at such a rapid pace, suffer misfortune! Hahahaha!!"

Carmel looked at Nero, who had been expected to be grieving but had unexpectedly burst into laughter, with some surprise, and asked, "What are you laughing at? Those two might be on their way to the end!"

"Don't worry! With Lu Ming around, those two little bastards won't die. At most, they'll just get a scratch!"

"How come they have you as their boss?!" Carmel shook his head helplessly, then turned his gaze to the outside of the carriage window.

Beside the carriage she and Nero were riding in, another carriage was heading towards Odysseus's territory. However, the people in these two carriages were not Lu Ming's friends yet; they were going to Odysseus's territory to attend Lu Ming's wedding in the hope that their tribe could also join the (Hunter) organization.

What was originally an organization that had been planned to disband months ago has now been forced to become a behemoth under the watchful eyes of various forces. It attracts members from all sides, who want to join in order to gain access to the organization's benefits and the respect derived from other races.

The people in that carriage came from two races that desperately needed (hunters') help: dwarves and cavemen!

"I wonder how to manage these two temperamental races now that they've joined the organization? If it were him, he should have a way..." (To be continued.)
