Seeing that both Kanina, who hadn't received a title, and Amelia, who had, embraced Fernana, Fernana's mother felt relieved. However, things seemed a bit complicated with Lu Ming; at least, old Ozmoz would probably be furious.
But when Lu Ming returned home that evening and learned about what had happened, he didn't seem angry at all. Instead, he kissed Philner and said, "Well done."
This immediately made Philner's mother dissatisfied with old Ozmoz, and she complained to him for several days in a row.
"Look at what your son-in-law is doing, and look at what you're doing! Our daughter can decide whether Kanina or Amelia gets the baronial title, but me? I can't even decide what to eat for breakfast! Tell me what you're doing..."
This situation forced old Ozmoz to relinquish power to Philner's mother, but he had no resentment towards Lu Ming. He just felt that Philner's continued procrastination was not a solution.
-----------------------------------
late at night.
After listening to the spy's report, Rells frowned and said, "So, Sham of the Hatu family gave Philner Ozmoz the power to decide who gets the title? It seems like she's telling us that Philner and his family can't give it up!"
Immediately afterwards, he took out a report from a secret agent that Count Phoenix Eamon had stolen the three bottles that Lu Ming had left in the Grand Duke's mansion.
"Judging from this, the plague among the elves was something they planned long ago. It's just that they kept it from me all along; it's really too much!"
After a slight complaint, he began to read a report sent from the capital about a plague spreading only among the soldiers within the Elven Empire of Aifa.
"On November 21st, a plague broke out on the border of Aifa, starting from the border and sweeping across the entire Aifa Empire. Almost the entire army was infected. Some details about the plague can be gleaned from some unintentional remarks made by high-ranking elven military officers in a public announcement."
1. This plague is a plague that has been enchanted by alchemists and magicians. It is only effective against elves and only targets soldiers and mercenaries.
Second: This plague is extremely destructive to the bodies of elven soldiers; once infected, they will be bedridden after seven days and unable to stand again.
"On November 29th, another spy and I entered the hospital where the Elven soldiers infected with the plague were located. According to our investigation, we discovered that the plague directly attacks the Elven soldiers' spinal nerves, thus completely paralyzing them."
"On December 4th, I infiltrated the mansion of an elven grand duke and eavesdropped on a meeting between the duke and high-ranking elven nobles and priests. One of the priestesses mentioned that the plague originated from our (hunter) organization and that they planned to send a large number of assassination squads to kill the (hunter) leaders. However, in the middle of the meeting, a strange dark blue sludge, similar to the black mud of the Church of the Deep but not the same as it, suddenly sprayed out from an officer's body, infecting all the high-ranking elves present with another, hidden plague."
"On December 5th, we located a member of the (Hunter) organization who had infiltrated the Aifa Empire to gather intelligence on the effects of the plague. According to him, these two plagues were jointly developed by Viscount Lu Ming, the leader of the (Hunter) organization, and two alchemists, Viscount Camilles Dagon and Viscount Haska Mena. In addition to these two plague viruses, there is supposedly a third plague virus, but it has not yet broken out."
"Three viruses? How come those three bottles didn't contain plague or smallpox? The dark blue mud was from that bottle. But what is the third one that hasn't broken out yet?"
Just as Rael was pondering what the plague virus in the third bottle, which he had planned long ago, was, there was a sudden knock on the door.
"Who!?" Rells asked after putting away the documents and making sure the spies were in hiding.
“It’s me, Schumira.”
"What is it?" Rells frowned slightly when he heard that it was Schimila Ozmoz who was knocking on the door.
"Myra asked me to ask when you're going back to rest."
"Okay, I'll be there in a bit." After hearing Xiumira's words, Rells slowly relaxed his brows, thought for a moment, and then said.
With a soft "Oh," Shumira went back to her room.
As Raelus heard the fading footsteps of Shumira, he took out another document. However, this was not the previous one; it was a joint petition from nobles of other duchies urging Raelus to accelerate his plans and find new allies before the elves recovered from the plague.
"Tomorrow, change your clothes, disguise yourself as a messenger, and deliver this letter to Viscount Lu Ming." After quickly writing a letter, Reys sealed it with wax and handed it to the spy.
He then opened the locked door and went back to his room with Shumira and Myra to rest.
"Go see Lu Ming, the one who killed my brother? Interesting!" The spy, holding the letter, smiled sinisterly and disappeared from the room.
-----------------------------------
Meanwhile, in his room with the cripple and Sham, Lu Ming was also reviewing the results of the use of the virus he and the two alchemist hunters had developed.
He himself, along with several alchemists, created a virus from the dark mud and plague, which did not disappoint him. Carmel's neurovirus also proved remarkably effective. However, the problem was the third virus, the one Haska developed, which remained undiscovered. Could there be some problem with it?
"What's wrong? Why are you frowning?" Sham noticed that Lu Ming was frowning while looking at the intelligence report, so he couldn't help but massage his brow and help analyze the situation.
"Haskar's virus didn't work. Hopefully, it just has a long incubation period, rather than being wiped out by the elves."
"Didn't Haska say that her virus would take effect very, very slowly, but when the elves rise up again, it will deal a very heavy blow to them!" Sham said with a smile while holding Lu Ming.
Therefore, Lu Ming nodded in agreement with Sham's statement. Since Haska had said such a thing, then they would just wait and see.
After thinking it through, Lu Ming received the information into his phone.
Seeing this, Sham couldn't help but lick Lu Ming's ear and asked with a smile, "Want one? Me or Philna?"
"I want both!" Lu Ming stood up, picked up Sham in one go, and laughed.
"Greedy bastard!" Philner, who was organizing his recent tax reports in bed, couldn't help but mutter when he heard Lu Ming's words about greed.
At this very moment, in old Ozmoz's room, Philna's mother was feeling helpless for her daughter. No matter how Lu Ming treated Philna, Philna remained indifferent, showing none of the affection Sham had for Lu Ming.
"Old man, do you think our daughter and son-in-law are really not a good match?"
Viscount Ozmoz glanced at Philner's mother and sighed helplessly, "In my opinion, the two of them are simply not a good match. Putting aside everything else, their political views alone are incompatible."
"But I can tell that our son-in-law really loves our daughter!"
Old Ozmoz smiled and shook his head, saying, "He's just unwilling to accept that he's done so much but still can't win her heart, so he wants to completely possess her. But if they're still like this after they get married, just wait and see."
"Is our daughter really inferior to Hatu's child? They're both children of viscounts, so why is our daughter..."
"She can't let go of the person who's already dead. No matter what Lu Ming does, he can't possibly win over someone who's dead!"
"That silly child, what's so great about Saldallo? He didn't even give our daughter a crest before he died. Look at Lu Ming, he gave her a crest more than four months ago. And yet... sigh~!"
"The crest given in marriage represents the right to manage the territory. Besides Sham, Lu Ming only gave it to Philna, which shows that Philna really can't let go of Lu Ming. Otherwise, if it were any other girl, she would have already thrown herself into his arms. Why would they be in this one-sided cold war now?"
Hopefully things will get better in the future.
"I think it's difficult!" (To be continued.)
Chapter Sixteen - Accident
Lu Ming stood in a very strange room, watching a woman in a black magic robe explain the Vortex Soul Block and Soul Spear to him...la☆m novel download☆☆ Not far from the woman in the black robe, a pregnant woman in a white robe was studying the Thunder Spear and other wonders.
"This is all the information on the Soul Spear, and this is the information on my Soul Giant Arrow. Remember to put them here, don't forget them after you leave!" After waiting for more than an hour, the woman in black robes handed Lu Ming the magical data that she had spent a month analyzing.
"Don't worry, I've already kept it safe. I've also written down every single word we said." Slowly embracing the woman in the black robe, Lu Ming brushed aside the long black hair that was covering her face, and then gave her a kiss.
"Alright, alright! This is just a dream, are you two still planning to continue?"
"You still like to spoil the fun, Amelia!" Nai looked at the woman in white robes and Lu Ming sighed.
The woman in black robes glared fiercely at Amelia with her remaining eye, and roared, "I'll make sure Lu Ming eats you alive sooner or later!"
The woman in white smiled slightly and said, "This is a dream. His divine blood isn't enough right now, so he can't dream at all. I'm not afraid!"
"Is this the kind of awful character that made him a bishop?" Looking at the woman in white, Lu Ming sighed, then said to the woman in black, "It's almost dawn, I should go. I'll come find you again tonight, my dear."
"Well, let's go."
Watched by the woman in black robes, Lu Ming wrote down the entire conversation between the three of them and then left the room.
Opening his eyes, Lu Ming carefully got out of bed, dressing as he quietly watched Sham and Philna's sweet sleeping faces.
Because of work, Lu Ming had to tiptoe out of the room and couldn't stay with the two women any longer. But before leaving, he kissed both of his fiancées on the cheek.
After closing the door and going downstairs, Lu Ming ate a little something and then prepared to go to the camp.
But just as they opened the gate to the mansion, they saw someone about to knock.
The man stared at Lu Ming for a moment, then took a letter from his pocket and handed it to Lu Ming, saying, "Viscount, this is from the Grand Duke."
"A new job? Those guys are still the same!" Lu Ming sighed after opening the letter and glancing at it briefly.
The letter was brief and very direct. It instructed Lu Ming to go to a secret location in the north of the city to negotiate with Cainhorst's men and get them to send troops there as quickly as possible, preferably with the purebloods as well.
"A Cainhorst vampire? Unbelievable, these nobles are grasping at straws in their desperation!"
With a sigh, Lu Ming then asked the messenger, "Does the Duke have anything else to say?" "No skipping words."
"When I arrived, the Grand Duke added that Count Ozmoz should put aside his current work to assist you in completing this task."
"Are they even going to take away Philner's power to manage taxes and civil affairs?" He glanced sadly upstairs for a while before finally saying to the messenger, "I've arrived. I'll be there by noon."
"Yes, Your Excellency. I will now return to the Grand Duke's residence and report back to him."
"Okay, go ahead." Lu Ming nodded, watched the messenger leave, and then headed southeast.
He had only been gone a short while when he was followed.
With a slight smile, Lu Ming began leading the person who had been following him, circling around the entire city of Agamemnon.
One hour later.
Standing in front of a small shop, Lu Ming frowned and glanced at the distance, wondering to himself, "Haven't they shaken off the Duke's men or the elves?"
But at that moment, the person who was following Lu Ming suddenly gave up.
"What's going on? Did I only just find out about him now?" He glanced at the location the Wolf Blood and the Blood of the Old Gods had both told him about the stalker's location, and muttered to himself in thought.
Meanwhile, on the other side, a girl who looked only fifteen years old was panting heavily in a small alley far from Lu Ming.
"I still lack experience. For so long, I didn't realize he was playing me. If it weren't for Grandma Philna's eyes telling me, I might have already been caught, right?" The girl touched a purple gemstone with an eyeball embedded in it on her right glove and sighed.
"However, with Grandma Yusaha and Grandma Philna's eyes watching, I should be able to beat him, right? Probably not." The girl glanced at the blue crystal amber eye on her left glove and the amethyst eye on her right glove, and muttered to herself with some doubt.
But she quickly rallied and encouraged Lisa, saying, "It's okay! You can definitely beat him! After all, you're the one saving the world!"
At noon, Lu Ming handed over all the matters to Viscount Camille, the second-in-command of the camp, and went straight home.
"So, the Grand Duke intends for me to assist you?" Philner sat dejectedly in the room, staring at the floor.
“I didn’t want this either, but the Grand Duke really doesn’t trust you. However, after this is done, you should…” Lu Ming wanted to comfort Philner, whose remaining power had been stripped away, but Philner interrupted him with a single sentence.
"Should he have killed him?!"
"Looking silently at the furious Philner, Lu Ming paused for a moment before saying, 'Now is not the time to be discouraged. Philner, I... I will give you what you want.'"
Looking at Lu Ming, whom she had been living with for over a month and who, apart from those two times, had never lost her temper with, Philner sighed and said, "What I want, you can never give me."
That short sentence left Lu Ming stunned.
With a sigh, Lu Ming set off alone for the north of the city. But soon, Philna caught up with him.
Although his power was dwindling, Philner was unwilling to give up this last possibility.
Looking back at Philna, Lu Ming slowed his pace and let Philna take his arm.
Although Philna was holding his hand, unlike Sham and the others, she didn't have a happy smile on her face. Philna's face only showed an icy expression.
""
Soon, the two found the place mentioned in the letter. After exchanging the correct password, they were taken to a huge underground base by some people.
Although this place is far inferior to the camp, it is still a very secret base.
“Viscount Lu Ming, I am the person in charge of this place, Viscount Krasdra Meyer.” A person dressed as a mage approached Lu Ming and said to him.
