While Max was still in a daze, another order to fire rang out. Having learned from experience, Max quickly used Holy Light to protect his eardrums, his eyes wide open, not wanting to miss a single scene on the battlefield.
Hundreds of beams of holy light—yes, Max recognized them; the bullets fired from those gun barrels were wreathed in holy light—striked into the remaining undead in the blink of an eye, turning into burning fireballs. These fireballs blasted their targets to smithereens, while also showering the other undead with holy flames; in less than ten seconds, another group of undead was gone.
"Holy Light... can be used like this...?"
Myra uttered a dreamlike sound, and deep down he couldn't help but wonder if the Knights of the Silver Hand had possessed such weaponry back then, could they have nipped the threat of the Scourge in the bud before Lordaeron was destroyed?
"Fire!!!"
Before Max could recover from his shock, the third wave of attacks had already struck the remaining few undead, annihilating them completely—in less than three minutes, the road leading to the gates of Desom had been cleared.
"Everyone! Change your clothes!!!"
With another click, the soldiers collectively slung their rifles behind their backs, picked up their shields from the ground with their left hands, restored them to their original arm shield configuration, and reattached them to their wrists. Then, they removed their two-handed swords from their backs and pressed the buttons on the blades. Under the holy light blessing of the Garrison Commander, they held these terrifying weapons of slaughter horizontally.
"For Her Highness Jaina's victory! Charge!"

"Oh My God......"
Since the initial battles against the trolls were mostly jungle warfare, the soldiers of Kul Tiras were not equipped with this armor. Therefore, before the battle, when Tannis confidently stated that one hundred elite soldiers equipped with the Type 1 power armor developed by Ratchet could easily overrun the Scourge of Desolum without the intervention of high-end forces, Lor'themar simply laughed it off.
But now, Lor'themar has to admit that Tannis was not exaggerating her combat power... Judging from the current performance of these hundred people, they really have the potential to flatten the undead army in Desolum like plowing up a field!
“It’s our turn, Lor'themar.”
"Yes, it's our turn."
Romans's voice brought Lorthema back to his senses. He took a deep breath, drew his sword, and pointed it high into the sky.
"People of Quel'Thalas! Let Silvermoon City weep! Let the Sunwell be tarnished! The culprit who tore our kingdom to pieces—Darkan!—is hiding in the town of Desolum ahead! We will make him pay for his crimes in blood!!!"
————————————————The other side of the battlefield————————————————
Sylvanas, with her Forsaken legion, watched everything on the battlefield with indifference. Due to the extremely awkward status of the Forsaken, after discussion, Sylvanas accepted the decision to use her people as reserves.
Something's not right.
Suddenly, Sylvanas uttered a sentence.
"What's wrong, my queen?"
A Forsaken who was still relatively healthy looked at Sylvanas.
“Darkan isn’t the kind of guy who just sits there and waits to die… Help me contact Lor’themar and tell him that our target may have already escaped.”
——————————————Eternal Song Forest——————————————————
"Oh......."
In the Death Scar of Eversong Woods, a blood elf dressed in magnificent clothes and wearing a cowboy hat turned around and looked behind him, letting out a sigh that was hard to decipher. At his feet, a human girl, bound tightly, looked at him with eyes full of anger, fear, and hatred.
"Relax, Anvina, relax..."
The man gazed at the towering ruins of Silvermoon City in the distance, a cruel yet elegant smile playing on his lips.
"Everything will be...over soon..."
14. Head to the Sunwell Ruins
The battle ended before noon.
Despite the sheer number of undead roaming Desolum enough to deter even the bravest soldiers, despite Desolum's status as one of the Scourge's former frontline camps during their invasion of Quel'Thalas and its sinister structures like the Necropolis, and despite Darkan even stationing necromancers like skeleton mages within it—all of these were nothing compared to the combined assault of the Kul Tiran heavy infantry and the Quel'Thalas forces burning with the flames of vengeance.
"First, the second ranger squads, collect and cremate the bodies of the desecrated warriors here. The mage squads, set up a simple magic circle to cleanse this place of corruption. The rest of you, follow me!"
Lor'themar brandished his sword and violently kicked open the half-rotten gate of the former mayor's mansion, located on the highest hill of Desom. With the sound of the door collapsing, two ghouls, dripping foul saliva, pounced on him from the shadows of the room.
"Humph!"
Without pausing, Lor'themar flicked his sword with his right hand, and the head of a ghoul was severed from its body, becoming two separate entities. Then, with a squeeze of his left hand, a sharp dagger, faintly glowing with holy light, sprang from his wrist guard and plunged deeply into the forehead of another ghoul.
"Your end has come, Darkan!"
Lor'themar, having swiftly and cleanly eliminated the two ghouls, grabbed the stair railing, which could still support his weight, and nimbly climbed the stairs to look at the master bedroom on the second floor. However, what came into his view was not Darkan, but Sylvanas, and the wall behind her, which had been largely demolished, clearly showed how the Dark Queen had entered the room beforehand.
"Lady Sylvanas, what are you doing here?"
Lor'themar paused for a moment, then realized something: given Sylvanas's personality, she certainly wouldn't allow anyone else to take revenge on Darkan first.
“Not long ago, I sent my man to find you, but the battlefield was too chaotic and he was unable to make contact with you.”
"So, you waited for me here all this way?"
"That's right, I knew you'd come here... You'd rather be a warrior charging into battle than a strategist..."
Sylvanas stepped out of the house, her fiery pupils fixed on Lor'themar's still azure eyes.
“I have confirmed that Darkan left before our attack on Desom, and I suspect he deliberately allowed me to send you the wrong intelligence.”
"Is that so? Then let that little man live a little longer."
Knowing full well that Sylvanas must have had evidence for her words, Lor'themar sheathed his sword and turned to descend the stairs. Although they hadn't eliminated Darkan, this glorious victory had significantly boosted the morale of the Quel'Thalas Legion. More importantly, the location of Desolum was crucial. Once they regained control of this area, the Gates of March would return to the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas. At that point, both the remaining trolls and the remaining Scourge could be dealt with by trapping them inside the gates.
"No...Children of the Sun, you don't have much time left... You must reach the ruins of the Sunwell as soon as possible—before it's too late..."
The sudden sound startled both Sylvanas and Lor'themar. Then, they saw Kalecgos emerge from the shadows, with Tyrion standing beside him in his elf form and Max with a calm expression.
"What do you mean?"
Lor'themar looked at the three uninvited guests with a wary expression. Anyone who could sneak up in front of him and Sylvanas must be extraordinary!
"The girl who was kidnapped by Darkan, Anvina, is the embodiment of the Sunwell."
"...What did you say? The essence of the Sunwell???"
Lor'themar's voice suddenly rose eight octaves. His reason was frantically telling him that this was utterly absurd, but his intuition was clearly telling his soul that the man in front of him was not lying!
"Where's the evidence?"
Romans, who rushed over, also heard what Kalecgos said.
"The evidence is..."
Under the intense arcane light, Kalecgos and Tyrion transformed into their original forms, two azure dragons that lifted the roof and soared proudly in the sky.
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Kalecgos, son of Malygos the Spellweaver."
—————————————Quel'Danas Isle—————————————
"Ah... beautiful Quel'Danas, I'm back..."
Darkan raised his hands high, chanting a beautiful song like the best poet, but neither the surrounding ruins, the withered and rotting trees, nor the mindless monsters wandering on the foul-smelling soil looked 'beautiful' at all.
"Waaaaah..."
Anvina glared angrily at the blood elf, who was handsome but whose soul was incomparably evil. Unfortunately, with her mouth gagged, she could do nothing but make a few sounds.
"Sorry, sorry, I forgot."
Darkan snapped his finger, and the Seb in Anveena's mouth dissipated into arcane ions and disappeared. Then he squatted down in front of Anveena with a smile on his face.
"You'll soon be mine. Is there anything you want to say to me?"
"I will never—give in! I will never—be used by you!"
Anvina gritted her teeth and spoke slowly and deliberately.
Hahahaha!!!
As if he had heard a joke, Darkan burst into laughter. He slapped Anvina's face hard, his expression turning comical and ferocious.
"For thousands of years, you have been silently used by my people... Now, it's just a matter of transferring your power to me alone. Is there a difference? No difference."
After saying this, Darkan looked up at the sky, his smile growing even brighter.
"Recall your 'life' to your heart's content; the time when the sun sets is the time I will unleash your true nature, my lovely Anvina..."
———————————————— Main Camp ————————————————
In the mage camp, Tani, wearing engineering glasses, was adjusting something that looked like a door. Jaina and Romans, carrying expensive spellcasting materials, were drawing a magic circle around the door. Haruni held a small instrument, carefully observing the readings on it, while Kalecgos and Tyreggosa stood on either side of two crystals, acting as batteries...
"Hey Kalecgos! Why are you messing around with these mortals! You know perfectly well that the magic network on Quel'Danas Island is a complete mess! It's impossible to open a stable point-to-point portal to that place!"
Although she was cooperating, Teregosa kept complaining.
"It's too late to fly there, Terry, we have no choice but to take this gamble."
"But this..."
Just as Teregosa was about to say something, Haruni's steady voice rang out.
"The reading is stable!"
"......"
Looking at the view revealed behind the transparent 'curtain' of the mechanically constructed portal, Terriggosa suddenly felt her mind freeze for a second.
"No way...it really activated successfully?"
15. Quel'Thalas - Dawn
Beside the ruins of the Sunwell, Darkan leaned against a tree, looking with satisfaction at Anvina, whom he had thrown into the very center of the crater, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Suddenly, he said something completely out of the blue.
"I thought you wouldn't even discover my plan."
“Don’t assume everyone else is as stupid as you, Darkan…”
Accompanied by rustling sounds, Sylvanas, carrying a longbow, emerged from the withered bushes, her blood-red pupils clearly reflecting Darkan's figure.
"Let me guess, you were the first to find me. Besides you, Lor'themar is here too? Oh right, and there's that little blue dragon who was trying to rescue his friend but almost got cursed to death by me, and that paladin next to him who's yelling about settling scores with his master? I'm so scared. Should I kneel down and beg for mercy so I can have a comfortable death?"
Darkan performed an elegant spin, spread his arms, faced the sky, and let out a silent, maniacal laugh.
"When I pierce your black heart with my arrow, I hope your lips will still be able to slap each other shut."
Sylvanas, who began to exude a faint killing intent, drew her bow and aimed at Darkan.
