"superior!!"
Knowing he couldn't let the plesiosaur catch its breath and unleash another round of Frost Nova, Rusty Sword drew his sword and charged out of the cover, followed closely by two goblins. On either side were other adventurers wielding nimble weapons. Finally, Coin, Tannis, and the archer remained near the cover, waiting for their chance.
"Gaa!!! Hoo!!!"
Seeing so many intruders provoking it, the plesiosaur let out a low, slightly intimidating roar. If it were still in good condition, it wouldn't have taken Rusty Sword and the others seriously. However, it knew its own limitations. Its venom sacs were almost empty, and it had released most of the water element power in its body at once. Now, its combat strength was only slightly better than that of an ordinary plesiosaur!
"Hurry! If we let this guy recover, we estimate it'll take half our men to kill him!"
Faced with the plesiosaur's intimidating roar, the two goblins collectively exhaled and used their shields to deflect the plesiosaur's head as it lunged at their side.
With a clang, the two goblins were forced back a large step, and the arrow wound on the serpent's head burst open again, spilling blood.
Rusty Sword quickly moved forward, his two-handed greatsword slashing without hesitation at the plesiosaur's neck, which was slightly dazed from colliding with the goblin's shield. The greatsword, forged from fine steel, only managed to cut halfway in before it could go no further.
However, Rusty Sword did not expect to be able to cut off its head with just one strike. After confirming that he had damaged the plesiosaur's muscle tissue, he pulled the greatsword out with force, opening a large gash in the plesiosaur's neck.
Meanwhile, the other adventurers were also using their own unique skills. Some were attacking the plesiosaur's tail relentlessly, while others were using their agile movements to damage the plesiosaur's flippers. In short, they were preventing the plesiosaur from concentrating its attacks in one direction.
In the distance, Steel Coin was frantically unleashing his signature fireballs, each one hitting the plesiosaur's fins. Meanwhile, the adventurer with the bow would occasionally fire a stray arrow at the plesiosaur's body—causing limited damage, but enough to distract it.
As time went on, the plesiosaur developed more and more wounds of varying sizes, the bleeding became more and more frequent, and its movements became increasingly sluggish. It was clear to anyone with eyes that this behemoth could not hold on any longer.
Finally, the plesiosaur was actually forced back a little by the two goblins.
"It's weakened!"
An adventurer shouted excitedly and thrust his sword down even harder—the loot that could be extracted from such a huge magical beast was no small amount!
However....
The cold air erupted once again, and several adventurers who couldn't dodge in time were frozen inside by the Frost Nova. This time, the cold air eruption was stronger and more intense than the Frost Nova that the Plesiosaur used the first time!
"Oops!"
Seeing the plesiosaur's head, which was reddened by either blood or rage, Rusty Sword knew he was in trouble. He had seen this state before, both with his warrior master and with the orcs—Enrage! A special combat technique that allowed one to be controlled by rage in exchange for more efficient killing!
"Pursuers, charge!!"
At the critical moment, Tannis's voice rang out, and dozens of block-shaped robots broke through the defenses and rushed towards the plesiosaur's belly.
"boom!!!"
The shockwave from the explosion shattered the ice surface, along with the battered belly of the plesiosaur, which was now regaining its strength.
"hiss......"
Amidst its resentful cries, the life of this plesiosaur, which had occupied the lake for an unknown period of time, came to an end.
16. The underground river of Ratchet!
With the plesiosaur finally losing its life, the battle, which had lasted for nearly an hour, came to an end.
Nearly half of the adventurers suffered injuries of varying degrees from the frost nova unleashed by the plesiosaur in its final counterattack. The two who fared the worst suffered severe frostbite on their legs! Had they not drunk a small amount of troll blood potion before the battle, which granted them some regenerative abilities, their legs would probably be useless by now.
"Luckily, this thing didn't break down due to overload."
After rummaging around inside the plesiosaur's belly for a while, Rusty Sword pulled out a heart slightly shrouded in moisture and handed it to Tannis, while the other adventurers were using various small tools to process the remaining parts of the plesiosaur.
Plesiosaur hide and bones are the priority targets for adventurers. The hide of this creature, which can be considered a magical beast, can be processed in the right way to obtain leather armor with a slight magical effect. The spine, an important bone, is even more precious. If someone is willing to invest and find a suitable craftsman, it is not impossible to create excellent equipment with a strong magical aura!
"Half of them were seriously injured, and it was very risky for them to continue exploring with us."
During a break, Rusty Sword whispered to Tennys.
"Arrange for their retreat; the return journey shouldn't be too dangerous. If they don't want to retreat like this, they can set up camp here and wait for us—there's water, fish, light, and fuel here; they can last a long time even without any supplies."
Tanis responded quickly, knowing that the risk was not only for the injured, but also for those of her who could continue exploring—if they encountered an army of merfolk, the burden could very well cost them all their lives.
"And the compensation?"
“Everyone here can take a plesiosaur skin, the area of which is… well, this big. Then, everyone can take two sections of the plesiosaur's vertebrae—of course, whether they get a share of the reward afterwards is up to my father, Gazlowe.”
Tannis quickly drew and marked the area; the amount of leather, based on a human body size, was enough to make a half-breastplate with some scraps left over.
"Your kindness."
Rusty Sword turned to inform the adventurers of Tannis's decision, while Tannis took out the plesiosaur's heart and began to examine it.
Undoubtedly, this plesiosaur heart, still energized by water elements, is an invaluable material. If given to someone skilled in its processing, crafting a fine piece of equipment would be a certainty. However, Tannis had her own considerations.
'Could the G-series small combat robots be combined with Azerothian engineering technology to enable them to use elemental weaponry?'
This thought lingered in Tannis's mind. From her fragmented memories, she already knew that although there was no trace of magic in the Celestial Technology from beginning to end, it was the result of the joint efforts of the leader of the first generation of the Seven Mechanical Gods and 'Tyrant King' Bakal to stop a certain powerful figure who played with magic.
In fact, before the Seven War Gods reached an agreement with Barker, due to that big shot's conspiracy, the machines in the Celestial Realm were once a product of the mixture of science and magic. Even the ultimate combat weapon, Geboga, became a crystallization of science and magic.
With the passing of the first generation of the Seven War Gods, the celestial realm's hybrid science and magic technology system gradually dissipated. What grew from the legacy of the Seven War Gods were true, pure celestial machines, devoid of any magic. Using these machines, Tyrannosaurus King Bakal was finally defeated as he wished. However, the magical heritage of the celestial realm thus came to a complete end.
“Miss Tanis, they have agreed to retreat.”
Just as Tennyson was lost in thought as she looked at the heart, Rusty Sword returned to her side.
"understood."
Tannis put away her heart and began to retrieve her diving suit from the mechanical assistant's stomach.
"Attach the airbags, prepare some timber, and we're going to cross this lake."
——————————————Time Passes By——————————————————
After crossing the lake, the road suddenly widened considerably, and small streams of water began to appear by the roadside, their sound echoing clearly in the cave.
Finally, a huge, surging river appears at the end of the road, its rolling waves roaring and crashing against the rock walls on both sides. In the light, white foam keeps rising from the impact points, then being thrown into the air, and finally bursting.
On the opposite bank of the river, some tents appeared and disappeared in the dim light; those tents undoubtedly belonged to the fish-men.
Tanis picked up her binoculars and, using the flickering lights of the fish-man tribe, carefully searched for what she was looking for. Finally, outside a tent, she saw the outline of a very familiar black box.
"Phew, target correct."
Tennys put down the binoculars and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Find a way forward?"
Looking across the dark river, Rusty Sword narrowed his eyes. He had also looked through the binoculars and seen those things in the merman tribe that were enough to kill those mermen a hundred times over.
"Well, but before that, I need to contact my dad."
————————————Ratchet——————————————————————
Gazlowe sat in his office looking at the latest bills, but his eyes were clearly not on the bills; instead, he kept glancing at a small gadget with three lamps next to him.
"That girl Tannis has already blown up most of the supplies in the warehouse. Even with my people working overtime, we can't replenish them quickly enough... Hasn't she found her target yet? If she doesn't find it soon, I'll have to send troops to search for it by force!"
Just as Gazlowe began to let his thoughts wander, a red light suddenly lit up on the instrument. Upon seeing this light, Gazlowe was immediately overjoyed.
"Excellent! As expected of my daughter! Security Department! According to Plan A! You've got work to do!!"
17. The teleportation device in Ratchet!
"Miss Tanya, what are these things for?"
After finding a place far enough away from the merfolk camp and where the river current was relatively slow to cross, Tannis, without taking a break, began using her mechanical assistant to transfer parts one by one.
Coin curiously approached Tennys, watching her movements.
"A simple teleportation device. I need to use this to teleport the advance troops from the Ratchet terminal."
Tanis uttered a single sentence calmly.
"Can it teleport living beings?"
Steel Coin's expression froze instantly.
"It's not a big problem."
After confirming that everything had been thrown over, Tennys attached a mechanical arm to her back, put on sunglasses and a mask, and plugged in earplugs.
"I need at least half an hour and at most an hour to finish this thing and get the parameters adjusted. You need to make sure I'm not disturbed during this time."
————————Murloc Camp————————
Mgamk felt very anxious.
As the king of the Dark Tide Murlocs, it has only experienced this feeling twice in its life so far. The first time was when it was almost tricked by its own brothers into feeding the plesiosaur, and the second time was when they overestimated themselves and attacked the druid.
And now, that feeling is back!
"Woo-ga-ga-ga-ga-gu-gu-ga!"
At Murgamk's command, the Dark Tide Murlocs' combat forces poured out, beginning a thorough search of the surrounding area for anything suspicious. Murgamk himself led his elite troops, searching in the direction of his intuition!
After swimming through countless rivers, Mugamuq "smelled"...
A familiar scent appeared—it was the scent of that plesiosaur! Had that monster left its habitat?
"Gaho!"
Under Mugamk's orders, the two murloc guards reluctantly set off to explore ahead, and returned in less than ten minutes.
"Mmm, quack, quack!"
Although the merman guards' words were extremely incoherent, Mugamuk still understood what they meant: the plesiosaur was dead? And there were these strange creatures nearby?
After a few seconds of thought, Mugamuk made a decision. It waved its hand, signaling its guards to take it to see those "strange guys."
So, five minutes later, Mgamk saw what it wanted to see.
First, it saw something it knew all too well—the head of the terrifying creature that lived in the lake its kind had always wanted to conquer; its empty eyes told it that the creature was dead.
Then it saw the teleportation device, which was already taking shape. In an instant, it felt a chill creep up from the soles of its feet, through its spine, and straight to its soul.
“Gagawamgagawa!”
Mugamuq howled wildly.
Amidst the howling of M'gamk, hundreds of murlocs, wielding crude weapons and roaring incoherent battle cries, charged toward the adventurers.
"Is there any way to reduce their numbers first?"
