Yes, it was surprise. The tyrant, following instructions from its brain, did not attack. However, this doesn't mean the tyrant lacked intelligence; that's why their expressions showed surprise.
Jack couldn't help but feel confident, thinking he could devour his low-level bioweapon, but it wouldn't be that easy.
Just then, the hunter, who thought he had been subdued by Jack, suddenly kicked off with his hind legs, head up, mouth facing the sky, and crashed straight into the ceiling.
This time, the hunter was clearly prepared, with astonishing strength and speed, leaving Jack no time to react.
Before he hit the ceiling, Jack only had time for a bitter laugh. This was probably what they meant by "losing Jingzhou due to carelessness."
With a loud thud, the Hunter's head slammed into the ceiling, creating a large crater. While the Hunter was left bleeding profusely from the impact, Jack fared no better. Because the Hunter's mouth had hit the ceiling, Jack, standing on the outer edge of the mouth, naturally bore the brunt of the impact, momentarily disoriented and unable to process what had happened.
Moreover, the hunter's mouth was already very slippery, and Jack's body was currently parallel to the ground, making it even more difficult for him to stand up during the violent tremor. Unfortunately, the two teeth that Jack was holding tightly broke off during the impact with the ceiling.
Jack was unlucky enough to lose his footing and had nothing to grab onto, so he naturally started to fall due to gravity. Jack began to fall, and even more unfortunately, he was now right on the edge of the hunter's jaws.
The predator in front of him charged in with its mouth facing upwards and downwards, so Jack's mission ended badly when he was swallowed whole. (To be continued...)
Chapter 244 Dark Wolverine
As Jack fell into the predator's belly, he thought about many things. He was contemplating how to survive, because he had already lost so much. So Jack didn't want to lose anything more; he felt his cells and bones begin to boil, and a special power emerged.
Jack suddenly realized that if he could use the metal in those bones, taking down these creatures would be incredibly easy. Then, claws like Wolverine's appeared on Jack's arm, slicing open the hunter's body and delivering a direct and fatal blow.
And so, amidst the hunter's screams, Jack easily emerged from inside.
When Jack emerged and stood up, the hunter beneath his feet was completely destroyed. Before Jack awakened his power, he had circulated within it, essentially destroying its internal organs, making recovery impossible.
Jack was soaking wet, looking like a butcher who had just slaughtered a pig. The tyrant, who was watching, clearly sensed something was wrong when he saw him like this, and took a few steps back uncomfortably. A high-level viral infection was always better than an unsuccessful one.
At this moment, Jack was clearly more like a successful new human than they were. Despite being swallowed, he was able to crawl out alive and even kill the hunter who swallowed him. Such strength was truly formidable.
"That's really impressive. Jack can actually use Wolverine's power completely. I had this idea when I was preparing to modify him. From now on, Jack is the Dark Wolverine of the Watchmen." Tang Tian, who was learning about the situation from the projector, seemed to be muttering to himself.
“Those metals are indeed sturdy.” Wesker nodded and said earnestly to Tang Tian.
Although Jack looked somewhat disheveled, claws had sprouted from his hands. Only then did Jack notice the things growing from his bones between his fingers—they were actually sharp, short knives.
It was obvious that these short knives were made of adamantium. Jack was both surprised and delighted by this change; he hadn't expected to possess the power of the mutant Wolverine.
Jack turned his gaze to the tyrant and the Lickers behind it. Their numbers had dwindled to four; clearly, several Lickers had perished in the fighting.
The remaining tyrants, outwardly, did not appear to have mutated; their appearance remained largely unchanged, still in their first form. However, the military coats that had been controlling their power were slowly dispelling, and the two tyrants' power was rapidly increasing.
Jack decided to deal with the Lickers first, while the Tyrant, of course, was under Zeus's control and didn't make any rash moves. Thinking this, Jack breathed a sigh of relief, since the Lickers were much easier to handle than the Hunters.
Jack glanced again at his Wolverine-like claws and said calmly, "Let these lowly creatures see what invincible power is." Then, he sped up and charged forward.
Then, Jack threw a punch. But the weapon now wasn't just a simple fist; it was a claw similar to Wolverine's—an indestructible adamantium claw.
"Ugh." The claws, forged from Adamantium alloy, pierced the skull of one of the Lickers without any resistance, as easily as cutting melons and vegetables. The Licker only had time to let out a mournful cry before it was killed. Moreover, the C-virus's hand instantly absorbed all of the Licker's energy.
Jack mentally gave a thumbs-up. He retracted his claws, then kicked the Licker towards several other Lickers. At the same time, my body also leaped forward.
Jack estimated that this Licker weighed around 700-800 pounds. He thought he might not be able to kick it easily, but he underestimated his strength. The Licker's corpse flew up in an arc, crashing into the other three Lickers.
Jack killed the monster with a single claw strike in an instant; the other three Lickers had only just reacted.
Jack pounced on one of the Lickers. The Licker, sensing its impending doom at Jack's sudden and stealthy arrival, opened its mouth wide. Not to bite Jack—not just because it didn't have the chance, but also because it lacked the ability.
The Licker roared in despair. The sound was extremely short, but because Jack's right claw had already pierced its neck, its vocal cords had been severed.
Then Jack flipped his wrist and slashed horizontally, severing the Licker's head and leaving it with no chance of survival.
Jack didn't stop for a moment. He fixed his gaze on the Licker next to him. This intelligent creature was clearly afraid and began to shrink back.
The Licker's retreat, though not slow, even quite fast, was still no match for Jack's pursuit. In a single leap, Jack was ahead, blocking its path. This time, it didn't have time to turn back and escape; seemingly provoked by Jack's ferocity, it pounced.
Jack became excited at the sight and swung his claws to meet it. Claws collided, and as expected, the licker's claws, along with its forelimbs, were sliced off by Jack like tofu, without any suspense whatsoever.
At that moment, Jack leaped up and landed on its back. With a swift movement, the four sharp knives in his right hand pierced four bloody holes in the Licker's head.
Another Licker was taken down in an instant, which greatly boosted Jack's confidence. He thought to himself that these biological weapons were nothing special after all.
Jack turned back to look for the last Licker, but the intelligent creature had already fled. It didn't run towards the edge of the experimental area, knowing Jack was in its way. Instead, it ran towards the three Hunters and the Tyrant.
The Licker was clever enough to know that the Tyrant was now their only hope. But Jack believed in his own power; the power he had gained was immense, and nothing could stop him from evolving in battle.
Jack's adamantium claws were dripping blood, making a loud, inexplicable dripping sound. Suddenly, the room fell silent, so quiet that the hunters' breathing, and Jack's own, could be heard.
Jack gained a sixth sense, and everything became incredibly magical. From the simple sound of breathing, Jack could glean a great deal.
The Licker's breathing was erratic and rapid, and the Hunter appeared extremely anxious and fearful. Jack's breathing, however, was steady and calm, the complete opposite. Whether due to enhanced abilities or simply from killing too many enemies, Jack was no longer the weak fighter he once was.
At first, even a licker could give Jack a hard time, let alone a more powerful hunter. Now, Jack only needs one claw to finish off a predator. What can a hunter, or that unknown tyrant, do to Jack? They can't withstand Jack's indestructible claws; it's an irresistible force.
Seeing the unsettling state of these biological weapons, Jack was confident that he could approach them slowly, step by step.
Jack knew the final stages had begun, and now it was time to continue knowing—it was his mission as the future Dark Wolverine. (To be continued...)
Chapter 245 Invincible
After gaining complete control of his adamantium skeleton, Jack wanted to eradicate the bioweapons. At this moment, only the thought of fighting remained in Jack's mind; he wanted to evolve and gain powerful strength.
"Dark Wolverine? That's a really good idea. I'm a genius." Tang Tian looked at Jack and said to Wesker with satisfaction.
"Of course, the Watchers have gained another powerful talent." Wesker said seriously to Tang Tian, only considering Jack's combat capabilities within the Watchers.
“That’s right. The advanced virus you’re researching also needs to be developed. The Plaka parasite, Death Hank is looking for it in Africa.” Tang Tian finished speaking and turned to Wesker.
Jack slowly approached them. When they were about ten meters away, the other three predators roared and leaped up at the same moment, their claws outstretched, gleaming with a terrifying cold light. The only remaining Licker did not dare to pounce like the three predators, but cowered behind the two tyrants.
The three hunters pounced at once, their momentum quite formidable. Although Jack's confidence in the battle was swelling, he dared not underestimate them. Each hunter possessed astonishing destructive power, and even someone as physically strong as Jack would likely have perished under their claws had he not unexpectedly acquired claws like Wolverine's.
Although the hunters' attacks were simultaneous, they appeared to be very rhythmic, with the angles chosen perfectly from left, center, and right. In the center was a hunter that hadn't fully evolved; it was the smallest in size but the most agile and fastest, its claws poised on the ground, its imposing presence like a tiger descending a mountain, poised to ambush Jack, its dangerous enemy.
There were two tyrants on either side. The other end and the unfortunate Licker in the middle were also there, only slightly smaller. They didn't attack Jack, but instead blocked my escape routes on both sides. Whether I went left or right, I couldn't escape the tyrants' direct attacks.
"Hehe, the most exciting part is here," Tang Tian thought to himself, continuing to watch the scene.
The Hunter and Licker, these bio-weapons, are more terrifying than zombies not only because of their strength, speed, and jumping ability, but also because they possess intelligence, can think, and are perfect machines for carrying out missions.
Therefore, Jack must eliminate all these biological weapons, not only because Tang Tian made him evolve, but also because they must not be allowed to remain.
Since Jack had planned it all out, blocking the hunters' retreat, the hunters' response was exactly as they expected. They neither moved left nor right, but leaned back, their bodies almost parallel to the floor.
The hunter in the middle barely grazed Jack, which was no coincidence. Jack's sixth sense, used to its fullest extent, was incredibly accurate in such situations. Simply dodging wasn't much of a skill; as Jack leaned back, his right hand shot upwards. The adamantium claw between his fingers was aimed at the hunter.
The hunter grazed Jack, but actually, it was the adamantium claws that sliced across the hunter. The adamantium claws, forged into sharp blades, were incredibly razor-sharp. A long gash was left, yet not a drop of blood flowed. It wasn't that they lacked power; rather, they were so sharp that the hunter felt nothing at all.
The roar finally rang out after the hunter landed; it was a roar of pain.
It fell back to the ground from the air. The force of its limbs hitting the floor reopened some of its wounds. After landing, the hunter immediately collapsed to the ground and struggled for a long time without being able to get up.
Jack glanced at them briefly. His cold gaze revealed only five biological weapons remaining. Moreover, of the four T-virus creatures, one was completely defenseless—the Licker—still cowering behind the Tyrant.
The hunter's fall and loss of combat ability did not cause the other bio-weapons to hesitate in the slightest. The remaining hunters attacked from the left and right flanks. Jack had originally planned to finish off the half-dead hunter with a fatal blow, but that plan was now doomed. If he had been even a step slower, Jack would have been caught in the middle, and he certainly didn't want to experience that situation.
Jack leaped high into the air, causing the two hunters to miss their target and collide with each other, ending up huddled together on the ground with a thud.
With a somersault in the air, Jack had already made up his mind. He planned to grab one of the animals and attack it immediately after landing, taking care of the rest first. But just as Jack finished his somersault and was still in the air, he sensed danger behind him.
As Jack was pondering this, the Licker that had been hiding had already bitten into Jack's shoulder. However, the Licker could only bite through the skin on Jack's shoulder, and that was all; it couldn't bite any deeper, its teeth couldn't penetrate Jack's C-virus, his body, or his Adamantium skeleton.
While airborne, Jack couldn't maneuver or dodge, but he still had ways to deal with the Licker, thanks to his two hands. As the hunter bit him, Jack reached behind him with his claws, and the sharp claws immediately burrowed into the Licker's body.
The attack likely struck the Licker; the adamantium claws pierced its body, striking its internal organs—whether heart or lungs, it was unclear. With a mournful cry, Jack writhed incessantly inside its chest cavity. When it finally crashed back to the ground, the Licker was barely alive.
Jack had no intention of stopping there. He flipped over, his claws following the movement, and with a flick of his fingertips, the Licker's head fell off.
Just then, the two hunters that had collided lunged again, their speed astounding. Jack had no time to dodge. One of the hunters pressed its forepaws against his spine, about to strike. Jack quickly ducked forward to avoid the attack.
The area on his shoulder where the Licker had bitten him earlier was already badly damaged. If this even stronger hunter succeeds, his entire back will be torn apart. Even with his incredible regenerative abilities, Jack can't withstand such torment. And who knows what mutations might occur if the hunter ingests a bit of the C-virus?
After Jack lunged forward, he immediately launched a counterattack. His back kicks landed precisely on the hunter's claws. Because his back was to the hunter, the force he could muster was negligible. Jack didn't expect to kill it with that kick; he just wanted to use the momentum to get away.
The objective was clearly achieved. Pushing off the hunter's claws, Jack leaped three meters away, then whirled around like a whirlwind, raising his claws and thrusting forward with tremendous force.
Jack had anticipated the hunter would pursue him, and sure enough, his claws pierced smoothly, finding the hunter's neck. Jack felt pleased; with a final pull, he severed the hunter's head, and blood flowed from its neck.
The other hunter was still dangling in the air when Jack leaped out with a light touch of his toes, his target naturally the remaining hunter.
With only one hunter left, Jack charged forward, filled with fighting spirit. Jack was increasingly confident in his own strength.
Jack was more convinced that he was now more formidable than the Hunter. Because he was Wesker's son, Jack Muller. (To be continued...)
Chapter 246 Combat Power Index
"Ugh." After a short scream, the last hunter's skull was pierced by Jack's claws, and Jack finally killed all the hunters in the room.
Jack exhaled sharply, his legs gave way, and he collapsed to the ground. It was temporarily over, as the Tyrant hadn't attacked. Looking at the corpses of the T-virus creatures scattered on the ground, and then at himself, Jack realized this battle had ended without serious harm.
"It's better than expected!" Zeus's voice came through the loudspeaker, echoing throughout the experimental area. "In this practical battle, you probably used about forty percent of your strength!"
Upon hearing Zeus's words, Jack was taken aback: "Forty percent? Only forty percent? But Jack felt like he had already used all his strength!"
Zeus smiled through his cold expression and said to Jack, "Your current combat power index is 1,500, and based on the various indicators of your body after the enhancement, the maximum combat power index you can reach is 5,000."
Jack knew nothing about the so-called combat power index that Zeus mentioned. Whether it was 1,500 or 5,000, it was just a number to Jack.
"What is the combat power index?" Jack asked, puzzled.
Zeus explained, "The combat power index is a standard index used by Umbrella Corporation to measure the destructive power of biological weapons..."
Biological weapons, simply put, refer to bio-weapons such as Lickers and Hunters. Zeus, this artificial intelligence, clearly considers Jack to be a biological weapon.
"...The combat power index has been divided into ten levels since its inception, with the highest index currently at 10,000. The Chairman is someone who possesses such power," Zeus continued eloquently. "Don't you understand what this 1,800 index means? Well, let me tell you, an ordinary zombie has a combat power index of only one; a zombie dog has an index of twenty; a Licker has an index of five hundred; a Hunter has an index of nine hundred; and a Tyrant has an index of two thousand. You, however, have an index of one thousand five hundred, which means your current destructive power far exceeds that of a Hunter, but not that of a Tyrant."
One Hunter has a combat power of 900, and Jack's combat power is 1,500. Based on this calculation, the combat power of two Hunters would exceed Jack's. However, Jack just took care of more than a dozen Lickers, Hunters, and other bio-weapons all at once. The combined combat power of those monsters was at least 8,000, if not 10,000. Jack just doesn't quite understand this.
Jack raised his question. Zeus explained, "Combat power indices cannot be simply added together. An ordinary hunter and an ordinary licker have combat power indices of 900 and 500 respectively, which adds up to 1,400. However, as a group, their combined combat power index is not simply 1,400. It could be 400 or 2,000, depending on the specific circumstances."
Jack understood Zeus's words. If those bio-weapons had been able to work together and move in unison, Jack wouldn't have been able to defeat them one by one. While the Hunters and Lickers were indeed powerful, in a one-on-one fight, Jack, with his adamantium skeleton, claws, and C-virus powers, had a clear advantage.
Getting these bioweapons to unite and cooperate is virtually impossible. Without Zeus controlling them, they cannot attack on command. Bioweapons are not human, after all; they have limited intelligence. Therefore, although these uncontrolled creatures were numerous, none of them could overpower Jack in combat, and they were ultimately eliminated one by one by him.
Zeus continued, "Although you now possess a combat index of 1,500, you are far from reaching your limit. To fully unleash your potential, you must engage in continuous battles. Only through battle can your body's functions evolve. You have only just crossed the initial stage and are still halfway to the second stage. You will need to experience another battle like the one you just faced."
Upon hearing her words, Jack knew that Tang Tian wanted him to continue fighting, and quickly said, "I think we should wait a bit! Find some biological weapons to fight me now; I'm completely exhausted. I think you know my current situation."
The experimental site is full of cameras, through which Zeus and Tang Tian can see everything.
Zeus regained his expressionless demeanor and said to Jack, "This injury is nothing to you. You'll recover in less than half an hour. If you feel hungry and need to replenish your nutrition, you can consider those biological weapons. As you may know, the bioenergy of each of these biological weapons is extremely valuable. The C-virus will need these things."
