“Beep beep beep beep…” A rhythmic old-fashioned alarm clock rang in Spooner’s ears. He opened his eyes, shook his head, slowly lowered the gun he had raised, and lay back down. As a black police officer in Chicago, Spooner was always on high alert, much like the character in I Am Legend.
Spooner's room, styled in the 80s and 90s, clashes with the ultra-modern style outside. Perhaps because the NS-1 robot failed to save the 12-year-old girl, Spooner has become obsessed with ultra-modern things since that incident, making it inevitable for him to reject advanced things, especially robots.
Spooner pressed the constantly ringing alarm clock; it was exactly 7:30, which meant his workday was almost over. No longer sleepy, Spooner stood up and turned on the old-fashioned music player with the remote. Melodious old songs played continuously. While the music played, Spooner exercised and went into the restroom to clean himself.
“How beautiful!” Spooner exclaimed admiringly as he opened and put on the newly purchased 2004 vintage shoes. Having done all this, Spooner prepared to go to work at the Chicago Police Department.
"Good morning, sir! Your order has been delivered on time..." Just as Spooner opened the door, the blue-bodied NS-4 robot looked at the information on the order and politely greeted Spooner.
"Get out of the way, Tin Man." Spooner shoved the NS-4 robot aside rudely and said expressionlessly.
"Have a pleasant day!" the ns-4 robot replied politely to Spooner, strictly following the instructions in its program.
"Try the Jazz City synthetic Chicago-style pizza, just like the taste you remember. Glowfish! The world's best-selling genetically modified food." Spooner, wearing a black trench coat, walked down the street, looking at everyone with a robot everywhere, feeling utterly helpless. After all, in this era, humans trusted these capable and uncomplaining partners immensely; many of them had even become members of families.
"Top performance. Fully ready, absolutely safe. Say goodbye to endless upgrades and **! Connected to the USR central computer wiki, providing daily real-time updates of the super robot. The NS-5 robot, tomorrow's technology, delivered today." An advertisement for the upcoming NS-5 robot was displayed on a screen at the 613-meter headquarters of USR in Chicago.
Spooner realized it was still some time before he had to report to the police station, so he went to his grandmother's house first. The plot was developing steadily step by step.

"Master computer, we have detected 20 supersonic fighter jets dispatched by the United States. Calculations show that over 80% of them are for probing purposes, and 20% are for combat." Tang Tian, aboard a small space cruiser about to descend into the atmosphere, watched as the monitoring system detected 20 supersonic fighter jets approaching the Ares spaceship.
"As expected, I underestimated the greed of the American government. We still need to use force to deter them and cut off their claws." Tang Tian continued with his original plan, speaking coldly to Red Queen.
In fact, Tang Tian had considered most of it, but he hadn't noticed that in the future of this world, in addition to the widespread use of robots, it would be possible to travel freely to planets without life. This was also the reason why the US government had tricked him. Although they also needed anti-gravity electromagnetic technology, it wasn't as urgent as they thought. However, it was more important than those biological and chemical weapons.
"Understood, Master. Tactical nuclear weapon defense system activated." As Tang Tian finished speaking, Red Queen issued the most reasonable attack method—nuclear deterrence.
The alien wanted to easily acquire abundant resources, but the actions of the American government made him realize he wasn't an overpowered protagonist with a protagonist's halo. To get what he wanted, he needed strength, and the shadow of that old self resurfaced.
"Boom boom boom!" After the War God spaceship went red, it used its shipborne intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles to attack. Three tactical nuclear weapons with black fans quickly descended into the area of the supersonic fighter.
Seeing three intercontinental ballistic missiles hurtling towards them, the operation's commander, Pete Daniel, was too terrified to speak. He hadn't expected the aliens to react so violently; those terrifying ballistic missiles were definitely not good.
"Oh my god, quickly inform the president that the probing is over. Aliens are not so easy to deal with." Pete Daniels said in terror amidst the supersonic fighter squadron. Before he could finish speaking, nuclear missiles had already landed.
Three tactical nuclear missiles flashed brightly amidst the supersonic fighter jets, as if the light of a million suns dimmed in space. A burst of light radiation swept towards Peter Daniels' direction, instantly causing all 20 supersonic fighter jets to explode without exception. The vacuum environment of space, lacking air, prevented the generation of shockwaves, significantly reducing the destructive power of the nuclear weapons.
"A small-scale nuclear explosion isn't enough. If you piss me off, I'll unleash a large-scale nuclear explosion." Looking at the supersonic fighter jets destroyed by nuclear missiles, Tang Tian felt a sense of relief as he watched all the probing fighters disappear, muttering madly and maliciously. If that person saw this, they would definitely say, "A madman just like me." The lingering effects of Tang Tian's kindness after his transmigration were slowly disappearing, and his truly cold heart, like that person's, was slowly awakening.
After hearing that the probing fighter jets had all been destroyed, President Black fell silent and dared not probe again. No one knew what crazy things that mad alien might do; thankfully, it was just a probing attack. The alien's representative arrived quickly; at worst, one could be prepared to be blackmailed. The fact that the aliens hadn't directly attacked with weapons of mass destruction proved they needed large amounts of resources and novel technologies—a point the astute Black could also discern.

Chapter 29 Trading
Tang Tian's attack on the US government's probe caused panic among some military personnel because global satellites were blocked, and the entire US government was unaware of what was happening, only knowing that they had been attacked by alien weapons.
However, the aliens didn't start a war, clearly indicating that the trade could continue. Tang Tian's current technological development was quite distorted, possessing not only nuclear weapons at the peak of a Level 1 civilization but also various energy and electromagnetic weapons from a Level 2 civilization. While the nuclear weapon used in this probing attack didn't seem like an alien attack, who could tell? Aliens are generally perceived as using beam weapons, but who knows if someone is a madman who loves unleashing nuclear weapons?
Located 120 kilometers northwest of Las Vegas, the capital of Nevada, a small, silver-white alien space cruiser arrived at the desolate Area 51 in the United States. The area was surrounded by layers of military cordon. An American Army general and several staff officers were waiting for the aliens' arrival. The general could not hide his excitement, after all, receiving aliens was not something just anyone could do.
"Hiss..." The small space cruiser emitted a puff of white exhaust fumes, and the alien spacecraft slowly opened. At this moment, the military general and many staff officers swallowed hard, nervously watching the aliens about to appear. Although the general had seen the aliens' appearance once in online records, now was the time to reveal the real answer.
As the spacecraft's cabin opened instantly, the expressions of all the high-ranking military officials who saw the aliens froze. Only one thought crossed their minds: these are aliens! Indeed, the first thing they saw was a humanoid figure in a black suit, followed by two more humanoid figures armed with energy rifles. (These were actually modified versions of Hydra's energy weapons from the real world; the weapons' batteries used miniature nuclear fusion cells to continuously fire a three-minute energy beam capable of instantly turning any living being to ashes.)

An alien dressed like a successful person slowly approached the high-ranking military officials and said, "Hello, Earthlings." As Tang Tian approached the natives of this plane, the alien instantly straightened his appearance, a faint smile appearing on his face as he calmly spoke.
"Welcome... friend from outer space, this is Earth. I am General Lawrence Stanford, the officer in charge of receiving you this time." Although he was a little puzzled as to why it wasn't the alien image from the internet, he didn't say anything; this was a basic quality of a soldier completing a mission.
General Lawrence Stanford's composed and confident demeanor earned Tang Tian's silent approval. His composure and quick thinking, even after his initial surprise, were truly admirable, deserving a perfect score of 150.
"I understand. Where is your president? I think we can complete our deal." Tang Tian had no time for haggling and went straight to the point. After all, being tricked by his adversary as an alien was something that a certain unscrupulous arms dealer wouldn't forget.
"Okay, please follow me." Lawrence Stanford was somewhat disappointed when he saw the creature that resembled an alien and didn't engage in any further communication. After all, it was an alien that had come to Earth; although its appearance was different, its relationship with aliens was undoubtedly very close.
Led by a U.S. Army general, Tang Tian entered the heavily fortified Area 51 base—a place once rumored to house aliens or be a hub for high-tech research. Upon entering the underground nuclear-proof conference room, the general swiftly entered a password, and the tightly closed door opened.
Inside the spacious underground conference room of Area 51, a magnificent long conference table made of ebony wood was set up. Dozens of high-ranking officials from the United States government respectfully watched the arriving aliens. Although they were somewhat puzzled to see that the aliens shared their doubts, these old foxes had come to understand from years of reports of missing persons due to aliens that this might be a tactic used by the aliens to transfer their consciousness into cloned human bodies in negotiations. After all, aliens wouldn't just come directly to people like that.

"Hello, Mr. Alien, I am President Blackie. When will our deal proceed as agreed? I can't wait to see those amazing viruses." President Blackie showed no trace of his usual probing manner towards aliens, shamelessly speaking as if nothing had happened.
"Really? I may not know what our deal is, but your 'friendly' attitude just now made me feel very good." Tang Tian opened his briefcase expressionlessly, took out a glass of chilled red wine and slowly sipped it, completely ignoring the rest of the people.
"Hehe, Mr. Alien is joking. We just received information that it was an unauthorized action by the military. We don't know what the military did to anger Mr. Alien," Xiao Hei said with a laugh, instantly absolving himself of all responsibility.
"Damn, do you guys really think I'm an idiot?" Tang Tian thought disdainfully to himself. Without saying a word, he instantly unleashed his gravity and electromagnetic abilities, causing all the lights in the conference room to go out. Furthermore, Tang Tian slammed all the high-ranking American officials to the ground with double the gravity, then instantly stopped his attack. This move was indeed effective; Xiao Hei didn't try anything funny this time. Only a fool would use the same terrifying gravity to slam him down! It felt like every cell in his body was under increased gravity, and if the force had been greater, it wouldn't have been so easy to overcome.
"Because of your mistakes, Earthlings, you must compensate us by increasing the amount of metal needed for our planet by another 10 billion tons, 10 finished nuclear warheads with a yield of 50 million tons each, and 200 million tons of nuclear waste." After extorting the amount of compensation, Tang Tian offered his new terms. After witnessing his superpowers, it goes without saying that they would connect it to the effects of the T-virus. Thus, tempted by power and extended life, they certainly wouldn't give up anything that could allow them to live longer.
"Of course, we'll collect them all. Can we start the transaction now?" After the shock of the supernatural abilities, Xiao Hei and the military high command were filled with fervor. These viruses really could grant superhuman strength; losing some supplies wasn't a big deal. Besides, I: Robots' nuclear weapons had been completely decommissioned under the pressure of post-World War II international law. They were just sitting there getting moldy anyway, so selling them to aliens was a bargain.
"Of course, we come from afar, seeking only resources and new technology, nothing more." Tang Tian spread his hands, adopting the demeanor of a peaceful businessman, leaving Xiao Hei speechless and exasperated. He had nothing to say, after all, Tang Tian possessed more advanced technology than Xiao Hei, and Xiao Hei was the one probing them. The real transaction was about to begin; the alien had already prepared the data. Once completed, they would enter the storyline of this world.

"First, I'd like to introduce the biochemical weapons derived from the T-virus." Tang Tian gestured for the lights to be turned off, and the security guards promptly switched off the lights, plunging the conference room into complete darkness.
"Our planet's research on biochemical weapons has focused on optimization, resulting in types of biochemical weapons that are biased towards speed, strength, and intelligence."
"The agile bio-weapon licker (movie version) can easily wipe out a 20-person armed force, and after absorbing genes, it will become an even more powerful hunter. The intelligent bio-weapon tracker (movie version) can use your planet's Gatling guns and rocket launchers, can perform any retrieval mission, and its brain is controlled by an intelligent chip, making it very safe." As the bio-weapon simulated attack on the virtual reality holographic projector on the alien's wrist computer, most of the high-ranking military officials were extremely interested, as if they had discovered a new continent.
"Next comes the most important part." Tang Tian paused and said, looking around at the biological weapons with a satisfied smile. Although someone was disdainful, he didn't say anything. Did he want to tell him that they were using something he had long since discarded?
"The most powerful is the power-oriented bioweapon—Tyrant (game version). The first-generation Tyrant T-00 prototype (possesses a sword-like arm and a giant claw, extremely ferocious.), T-002 Tyrant (no explanation needed), the special model Tyrant Longclaw Monster (attacks primarily with whip-like tentacles, mainly using grabbing and throwing attacks, a special model developed for Tyrant.), and Tyrant T-091 (a new model of Tyrant created by fusing the T virus and G virus, the T+G virus, possessing extremely high flexibility and adaptability, and attacking swiftly and with astonishing power.)." Tang Tian explained in detail these Tyrant models that he had eliminated or specially experimented with.
"Mr. Alien, this is really impressive. I'd like to know how many of them there are," President Black said excitedly after finishing reading, no longer even bothering to ask about the T-virus.
"I've come to Earth this time with a decent number of bioweapons. I can provide 2000 Lickers, 1500 Trackers, 20 Tyrants (original), 200 T-002s, 30 Longclaws, and 50 T-091 Tyrants. As for the T-virus samples, I'll provide them when you've prepared what I need," Tang Tian said calmly. In reality, what he was selling were the first two Resident Evil films—cut versions—and various Tyrant models, especially the special ones, which were either prototypes, unstable, or obsolete. This deal had made a fortune for that alien.
"So, can we get those biological weapons first? If not, we can increase resources." After a brief exchange, President Xiao Hei and the military high command decided to get the biological weapons first, since they were very valuable alien biological weapons.
"Sure, I'll sell you the biological weapons first, but I need you to arrange an identity for me in America. I want to see your world properly." Tang Tian readily agreed, but made one condition.
"Of course," President Black nodded in agreement.
Coming to the Illusory Machine world this time was absolutely the right decision. Not only did they sell a large quantity of their obsolete bio-weapons, but they also gained a wealth of metal resources and various things that would allow them to develop rapidly. The transaction was a perfect success, and Tang Tian was also very interested. Perhaps the NS-5 and bio-weapons would collide in the future. Now they could start to follow the plot of Illusory Machine.

Chapter 30: The Plot Begins
The main plot of I, Robot begins when Spooner, mistaking a robot for a purse thief, clumsily grabs it on the street, only to discover that the robot was merely helping its owner retrieve a respirator from the wallet. While in America, Tang Tian also kept an eye on the world's progress, ready to act once the plot fully unfolded. His alien identity granted him considerable freedom, making his subsequent tasks much easier.
One month later, the Chicago Police Department...
“Based on the facts! That’s what your badge says.” Spooner had just sat down when his superior and good friend John slowly approached and said. Spooner was unaware that his recklessness had already been reported by the robot’s owner.
John, hands in his pockets, calmly looked at Spooner, who was writing something with his head down, and said, "Shall we talk about this?" "What is it?" Spooner looked up, puzzled, clearly having forgotten the silly thing he had just done.
"Police, help! That robot stole my dry cleaning clothes!" A middle-aged white police officer saw Spooner and John talking and raised his hand mockingly, making the people around him laugh.
“Oh, you want to talk about this.” Spooner ignored their mockery and turned to John.

“Agent…” John pulled up a chair and sat down next to Spooner, saying seriously, “How many robots have you discovered stealing wallets?”
“No, John, I saw that guy running…” Spooner explained.
“How many robots in the world…have committed crimes?” John continued, ignoring Spooner’s explanation.
“Define crime!” Spooner retorted.
“Answer my question,” John said seriously, still ignoring Spooner.
“No, John,” Spooner said awkwardly, turning away from his friend.
“Very good, Spooner, now you can tell me what happened today.” John finally got to the point, his real purpose being to explain to Spooner why he had done such a silly thing today, so that he could understand the kind of impact he had on others.
"No, it's nothing." Spooner shook his head and said helplessly. In fact, he was just deceiving himself. It was obvious from the other people's laughter and John's question that they knew about this.
“I can pretend nothing happened, but I hope this is the last time.” John said helplessly when he saw Spooner’s expression. After all, his friend had gotten into similar trouble quite a few times, so he hoped that Spooner could change his ways.
“Spooner, are you sure you’re ready to come back? You can take your time, no rush.” John stood up from his chair and patted him on the shoulder, clearly still very worried about his good friend; the air was thick with bromance.
“I’m fine, thank you, John. It’s better than sitting at home,” Spooner replied, sounding both grateful and helpless.
“Major Crimes Unit, Spooner.” Just as they were talking, the Chicago Police Department’s radio suddenly rang. Spooner put on his headset and asked. As the other end of the line continued to ring, Spooner received a call from USR reporting that his friend, Dr. Alfred Lanning, had committed suicide. Upon receiving the news, Spooner immediately stood up and spoke to John.
“John, I have something to do.” John looked at Spooner and knew that something big was about to happen, so he nodded to indicate that he understood.
--- Divider ---
The largest company in the Enemy of Machines world, USR (United States Robotics Corporation), is the largest multinational mega-corporation. Based on its NS series of intelligent robots, it ushered in the era of civilian robots. In a way, it's similar to the Umbrella Corporation from the movie Resident Evil—both are super-global conglomerates. The difference is that while the Umbrella Corporation created a world-destroying biohazard, USR Corporation actually advanced the world by leaps and bounds. But I digress. Back to the main topic.
By 2035, USR Corporation has fully popularized intelligent robots, with one NS intelligent robot for every 15 people. Robot workers and robot assistants are ubiquitous, even infiltrating family life, taking on the responsibilities of nannies and caregivers. People are increasingly dependent on robots that work tirelessly for humans. But will this kind of life continue forever? Reality offers a new answer: no.
Dr. Alfred Lanning, the father of the NS robot, no one understands what mistake led to his demise. His former genius couldn't prevent his accidental death; he now lies in the lobby of the USR Corporation headquarters, surrounded by police tape.
"What a genius, it's a pity he fell like this." Tang Tian, still dressed like a successful man, slowly arrived at the place where Dr. Langning died, ostensibly to check if there were any toxins in the blood, and showed his FBI credentials, easily collecting a test tube of Dr. Langning's blood.
Actually, resurrecting him isn't necessary. Tang Tian's current technology is sufficient to perfectly replicate deceased scientists. Through the place where he collected samples from Veronica, he also obtained Alexander's technology for adjusting genetic intelligence. Just like the Alexia siblings, the cloned, intelligently enhanced versions of scientists would serve him entirely. It must be said that Alexander's contributions were truly significant; Tang Tian will resurrect him when the time is right.
After going through most of the transaction, Tang Tian became a temporary member of the FBI under the arrangement of the American government. Although the alien didn't think much of it, it was enough for the next operation.
Spooner acted quickly, arriving near the police cordon in the lobby shortly after. After showing his identification, he was allowed into the scene of Dr. Lanning's suicide.
The alien, who was merely observing, didn't make any moves, yet the deal between the alien and the US government was successful. This also granted the alien identity and protection. Tang Tian helplessly watched the US agents protecting him; all of this was part of the agreement with the Earth government. The US government also promised that if the alien had the capability, they could acquire the technology they desired. Of course, the US government knew the alien needed robotics technology, so they simply let the alien go ahead and plunder it, which just happened to suit the personality of that particular alien.
“It’s a pleasure to see you again, young man.” As Spooner approached Dr. Lanning, a silver-white holographic projector popped up with a holographic projection of Dr. Lanning, clearly prepared in advance.
"Hello, Doctor," Spooner said, his expression slightly off. After all, he was his friend, and Spooner was quite saddened by his death.
............
............
The dialogue remained the same as in the original storyline, with Dr. Lanning telling Spooner to find the answer himself. At this point, Wiki had already taken control of all the new NS-5 robots from the USR Corporation, and if Spooner hadn't discovered Wiki's betrayal, a Terminator-like apocalypse might have occurred once the number of NS-5 robots reached a certain point.
