"What do we do?" Leon asked anxiously. "Should we leave her here?"

Bill didn't say anything, but pondered for a moment. "Hmm, it seems she won't attack us for now. As long as she doesn't provoke us, we shouldn't provoke her. Let's get the bullets and leave immediately." After Bill finished speaking, they carefully retreated.

The crying grew louder, interspersed with what seemed like a witch's eerie laughter, a mockery of our cowardice for not provoking her.

As the lights dimmed, the dust stopped swirling and dispersed with a "tsk" as if a crowd of onlookers had realized the show was over. The warehouse fell silent again, just as it had been before they entered.

"Hey!" Leon heard a voice behind him, turned around, and saw Francis! He was holding a flashlight, the beam illuminating his blood-red eyes. "A horde of zombies is outside!" Francis said.

Leon had no time to complain about Francis. He saw the infected woman's blood-red eyes look at him, a terrifying smile spreading across her lips, as if she knew they had been tricked! She opened her claws, which were a generation longer than a human head, and stood up.

"Ah!" This roar was terrifying.

"Run!" Leon was speechless. His thoughts were consumed by fear, and his brain gave him only one command: run.

"Francis! What are you standing there for? Run!" Leon and Bill rushed to the door almost instantly, while Francis raised his shotgun and fired a few shots at the girl—no, the zombie. He and Bill had already rushed out. Francis fired a few shots and then slammed the iron door shut.

“What is that thing?” Francis shrugged.

"Bang!" A sound they couldn't believe came from the iron gate. The 3-centimeter-thick iron gate suddenly bulged out. Before we could even exchange a word, there was another "bang." The pale gray hand had already punched a hole and reached out from inside the gate.

"Run! To the gun shop!" Bill, still calm, took the lead and ran, and we immediately followed. As we ran down the stairs, I could see the zombies swarming down below, with Zoe and Louis fighting and retreating.

"Bill, the Molotov cocktail!" Leon said. Bill quickly and accurately threw it down, separating Zoe and Louis from the zombies. I grabbed my sniper rifle from behind, crouched down, and aimed at the door, which was already half-destroyed. This woman was beautiful in life.

"Bang." The swift and powerful sound of the sniper rifle was quite pleasing to Leon's ear; the infected person had already disappeared through the doorway.

Leon didn't have time to do anything else. He gestured to Zoe and Louis not to come up yet, in case the zombie was still alive, they would be torn to pieces. Then Leon ran towards the gun shop.

At the gun shop, Leon took a shotgun and pistol bullets.

Gunfire continued downstairs. Leon quickly grabbed his ammunition and rushed over. He had just stepped outside when...

“Bill! We’re about to collapse!” Zoe’s voice came through the phone. “We need ammunition!”

"Bang..." Finally, Bill realized something was wrong and shot the witch in the head with his sniper rifle.

Bill shot the witch in the face, her head snapping back. Her neck was broken; Leon saw it clearly. Twisted to that extent, she couldn't possibly be alive.

Leon also escaped the biggest crisis in the virtual world and continued to live. (To be continued...)

Chapter 171 Battle in the Virtual World (4)

Fog rose in the middle of the night, and the air, thickened with the smell of blood, became even more viscous.

“Let’s discuss the route to Mercy Hospital,” Bill said, lighting another cigarette. Although Leon didn’t know if he had brought a bag of cigarettes or something else, he had pulled out countless cigarettes from somewhere before.

“It’s obvious that there are many quarantine zones in this city, but they haven’t stopped the zombies; instead, they’ve stopped us. I don’t think we can get to Mercy Hospital from the main road,” Leon said after thinking for a moment.

“We can choose to go through the subway passage ahead; there won’t be any quarantine area there,” Bill said calmly.

“Does the subway go to Mercy Hospital?” Bill asked.

“Bill, do you want to drive the subway? I wouldn’t dare ride it!” Francis said.

“You’re just a muscle-bound idiot,” Bill yelled, then continued, “We can use the route to Mercy Hospital and go directly there by subway.”

“I don’t think it will be that convenient. There might be collapses in the subway. You remember Bill, we’ve seen a lot of buildings collapse,” Bill said.

“Perhaps we can go to the sewers?” Leon asked.

“Well, if Francis had suggested it, I might have praised him for being clever,” Bill said, making a rare joke.

“Bill, are you praising me or insulting me?” Francis said angrily.

"Heh... Francis, you should stick to being a striker." Lyon patted him on the shoulder. I still think this big guy should be a butcher rather than a motorcyclist; at least his voice sounds like he's butchering pigs.

“Okay, here’s the plan. We’ll start with the subway, and if that doesn’t work, we’ll go down the sewers. Listen, folks, our hope is in our hands. See that gun? It’s the perfect antidote for these infected people. One shot, one kill. And it’s free.” Bill smiled, but Leon saw a hint of determination on his face.

“Yes, Bill!” Leon saluted.

Following Bill's footsteps, they passed through the subway entrance and arrived at a gloomy subway tunnel. They both turned on the searchlights on their guns, and several beams of light shone out. He seemed to see many dark figures moving around in the subway, which Leon thought were rats or some other kind of animal.

The subway tunnel was dark and long. The searchlights couldn't reach the bottom, and it was very damp, making them all uncomfortable. In the darkness, he could also hear footsteps on the ground, as well as those creaking and hissing sounds.

“It stinks… Bill, are you sure this is the way to Mercy Hospital?” Francis asked. There were indeed very few zombies in the subway. Francis had even put his M1014 on his back and was using a pistol. Another reason was that the subway space was too small. If the shotgun shells bounced back, they would accidentally injure us.

“Do you think I’m some kind of mindless bum? I just confirmed that this railway line leads to Mercy Hospital,” Bill replied, still using his M16A4. Perhaps, given Bill’s experience, accidental injury was practically impossible for him.

“But this railway really stinks,” Lyon said, waving his hand in front of his nose.

“Stop complaining, let’s just hope God blesses us so this railway will take us directly to Mercy Hospital,” Bill said.

The journey was peaceful; we walked for ten minutes, encountering only a handful of infected people. I think we were very lucky. Shortly afterward, we saw a train carriage, its incandescent light still on, looking like a ghost town in the distance.

Bill told me to take a look through the sniper scope, so Leon took out his sniper rifle. He looked inside. The lights were still on in the carriage, but I didn't see anyone. The interior was dilapidated, with several broken windows. Leon was a little curious; there wasn't even a body left.

"How is it?" Francis asked me.

“Nobody…” Lyon replied.

“Nonsense! Even if they existed, they wouldn’t be human,” Francis interjected.

Leon noticed the strangest thing: there was no blood. Perhaps he was seeing things. Leon looked several more times. The area around the carriage was very clean. Could it be that those people ran away on their own? Then what about the broken glass?

“Let’s go check it out. I can only confirm that there’s no danger there,” Lyon said, turning around.

"Hmm, what's wrong?" Louis asked.

“Just go and take a look,” Lyon replied.

"What's with all the fuss? Let's go over there!" Louis said, leading the way.

“Let’s go…” Bill shook his head and followed. Leon helped Francis up from behind.

"I'm sorry to have troubled you and asked you to take care of me," Francis said apologetically.

"Hmm." Leon nodded slightly.

"Hey! Leon, come here!" Francis turned around and waved to Leon.

"What's wrong?" Leon asked, puzzled, and chased after them.

“You probably didn’t see it, but there are corpses all around this train,” Bill said. At that moment, Lyon’s searchlights revealed a layer of corpses covering Bill’s feet, just ten meters away from the train.

In the dark railway, the light of their flashlights was their only source of light. They stared in disbelief at the pile of infected corpses at Bill's feet.

"Alright, let's grab our weapons and prepare for battle!" Bill ordered. Leon didn't use the M4A1; instead, he picked up the iron bar in front of him.

Francis also put away his shotgun and used a shovel. Zoe was holding a pistol, which made close combat difficult for her. Louis found a machete. They did this because they heard the infected approaching.

"Let's kill!" Bill laughed heartily. "It's been so long since I've had this much fun!" Then he continued to beat them up. They had been so repressed in such a critical moment before, and Leon was ruthlessly killing these infected people to vent the anger in his heart.

"Ah! Hahaha!" Francis laughed and roared, leading the zombies as he swung his shovel wildly. They killed their way in, and the approximately thirty infected in the entire subway station were quickly wiped out.

"Francis, cover Leon!" Bill shouted. Suddenly, a gunshot rang out. The bullet grazed his face and hit the head of a zombie that was about to pounce on me from behind. It was Bill who fired the shot. Leon gave him a thumbs up, smiled at me, and then fired another shot.

"Oh no! Zombies are coming to the subway entrance!" Leon said, his expression changing as he saw hordes of infected people running down the stairs.

“Let’s take a detour and retreat into the room!” Bill said. “No need to maintain formation anymore. Run to that toilet as fast as you can!” Bill pointed it out to us, and Leon looked over. Then Bill took the lead, knowing that only he could get there first, so he deliberately led the way to give them time to react before they followed.

Leon's experiences in the virtual world are getting better and better. One day, he will appear in the real world, wake up, and complete what he is meant to experience. (To be continued...)

Chapter 172 The Walking Dead

"It seems that Leon, the protagonist of Resident Evil, is thriving in the virtual world." Tang Tian said with an appreciative smile as he looked at Leon's performance on the screen at the Umbrella Corporation headquarters in New York City.

"Next, we'll move on to the next test subject." Tang Tian looked at the young man beside him and gave him a meaningful smile.

In a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world, the streets are deserted, and cars are abandoned haphazardly on the road. On either side of the street, two rows of neat American-style detached houses stand.

A young man with black hair and an ordinary face was walking slowly down the road, looking around with a puzzled expression. His memories had been erased when he entered this world, and new, temporary memories had been implanted in his place.

So ten minutes ago, Akara woke up to the gentle breeze and was shocked to find himself sleeping on the grass by the roadside.

Jie Liang is twenty-three years old this year, and his physique is fairly well-proportioned; he's the type who can eat whatever he wants and not gain weight. Although he looks incredibly weak, he's definitely not skinny. After all, he was a member of the Silent Team in his previous life, something Tang Tian discovered by chance.

Jie Liang lives with his parents in the United States, where they run a small shop. Jie Liang remembers drinking with a group of friends until late last night, and falling asleep in his bedroom bed without washing up. How could he wake up in a deserted town? It's simply unbelievable.

As Jieliang was walking along the road, he was suddenly attracted by an object in the woods beside the road. It was slowly crawling on the grass, but Jieliang couldn't tell what kind of animal it was.

The sun shone brightly, a gentle breeze blew, and facing the deserted town, Akara was filled with unanswered questions. Finally, he encountered a living creature, and Akara, curious, stepped forward to take a closer look.

Hearing Jie Liang's footsteps, the object turned and crawled towards him. One end of its body was covered in pale golden fur, which it lifted high as it crawled, revealing a slightly decomposed human face beneath. Its bluish-black eye sockets were sunken, its nose was missing, its lips were gone, and its gums were exposed. The entire face looked as if it had been bitten by some wild beast. Even more horrifying was that its entire lower body was gone, with only a section of intestine dragging alongside a bone on the ground, the remains covered in bite marks.

It let out a hoarse, pitiful howl at Jie Liang, and struggled to crawl towards him with its slender hands. Jie Liang, upon seeing this, was clearly frightened and retreated repeatedly.

What is this thing? A person? Anyone who looks like this should be dead beyond dead.

This was clearly a corpse abandoned in the forest, so how could a corpse move? But it was indeed crawling towards Akara with its slender arms!

Filled with fear and not knowing what to do, Jie Liang could only turn and run away!

He only stopped when he could no longer run. This was already the edge of the town.

Jie Liang racked his brains, trying to figure out what was going on. He felt like he'd seen that scene somewhere before. As he desperately tried to recall, images of the plot of "The Walking Dead" suddenly flashed into his mind.

That half-dead zombie we just saw is the most iconic image from the first season of The Walking Dead. Leon's world is a dangerous survival scenario, while the world that Akira descended into is a world of walking dead.

Through his memories, Akira discovers that Rick, the protagonist of the show, is a complete idiot. However, he also discovers in his memories that he possesses superpowers, not the particularly powerful kind, but still a considerable amount of strength.

What should he do now? Jieliang struggled to think of a way out of his predicament. He didn't even know how he got here. And going back was probably not up to him either. This world was teeming with ravenous zombies; a lone person would be torn to shreds in no time. Jieliang was all too familiar with the deaths of those surrounded by zombies. The zombies would swarm in like ghouls, pinning their victims to the ground, tearing at them with their teeth and ripping open their bellies with their hands, stuffing their flesh and blood into their mouths. The pitiful screams of the living were like music played during a romantic candlelight dinner to them. And even if he wasn't killed by the zombies, in this world teeming with them, Jieliang didn't know where to find food and water.

I absolutely can't be alone. Jie Liang thought to himself, this is where the story begins, I should go find Rick, the protagonist of the original movie. He's a bumbling idiot and a pushover, so I'll be pretty safe with him!

Rick is the town's deputy sheriff. Jie Liang remembers that Rick was seriously injured and fell into a coma during a capture operation. When he woke up, the world had changed beyond recognition.

I should go to the hospital and look for Rick. If I can find him and help him escape, it should be easy to gain Rick's favor. That soft-hearted Rick would never abandon me when I'm in danger!

Jieliang looked around, trying to determine his location, but found that the gray building around the corner looked like the town's hospital.

Ke Liang cautiously approached the building.

Yes, this is the town's hospital. Next to it in the open space is an abandoned military camp, which Rick passed by on his way out of the hospital. The tarpaulin-covered barracks, abandoned military vehicles, and even a helicopter parked there suggested that the soldiers who carried out the massacre in the hospital had left in a great hurry.

There might be some weapons left behind here. The helicopters were abandoned, so the guns and such certainly weren't all taken.

Jie Liang nervously rummaged through the drawers and cabinets, and sure enough, many good things were missing. Various firearms of different lengths, ample ammunition, and even two high-explosive grenades. Jie Liang abandoned the submachine guns and automatic rifles, which had high rates of fire but low accuracy, and ultimately took a large-caliber shotgun and an M9 military pistol.

When Akira first held the gun in his hand, a feeling of connection to his own flesh and blood immediately took hold of him. Akira felt as if the gun was an extension of his body, which was his special ability to wield it.

Jie Liang raised the M9 with his right hand, aimed at a large tree in the distance, and quickly zoomed in, clearly seeing even a small insect perched on the trunk. He felt that he could easily hit any spot he had locked onto with just a light pull of the trigger.

An irresistible urge arose in Jie Liang's heart, and he slowly tightened his fingers.
