Adam came out of the locker room, walked up to Howard, circled him, and asked excitedly, "How about it, Dad? Isn't your son handsome?"
Howard looked at Adam in his uniform and laughed, "Very handsome, very suitable, not bad, you really look like a superhero."
Adam chuckled, then asked, "By the way, what does the 'S' on the chest mean? 'Heroic Shadow' or 'Super'?"
Howard looked at the dark red words and had a feeling that they didn't mean "shadow" or "super"; they must mean something else. So he said, "You have to find out the meaning yourself. When you find out the meaning of this word, you will be able to become a true superhero."
He knew that clones would inherit the original's memories, but Adam did not because Adam was different from other clones. Adam had been exposed to cosmic rays, so he did not have any of the characteristics that clones should have. However, this did not mean that the original's memories would also disappear. They should still be dormant in Adam's genes and would awaken one day. Therefore, he decided to let Adam find out the meaning of the letter S on his own.
What he didn't know was that Adam did inherit the Primarch's memories, but these memories were very fragmented, so Adam didn't doubt his identity, simply assuming that he was somewhat special, after all, he was already quite special, wasn't he?
Adam took a few steps, gestured a bit, and then said, "Dad, it's a fantastic design! I love this uniform! And the color is one I like too. But isn't this cape a bit unnecessary? And it will make noise when moving at high speed, affecting concealment."
Howard, of course, wouldn't tell him that you might learn to fly in the future, so he shrugged and said, "You can rest assured, that cloak is not simple. It won't make a sound when you move at high speed, and don't you think you look even more handsome with this cloak?" Unable to find a suitable explanation, Howard resorted to a trick, a trick very much in line with his status—a common trait of the Stark family: flamboyant and willful.
Although Adam wasn't Howard's biological son, he had indeed inherited these qualities of the Stark family. After hearing Howard's explanation, he imagined the dashing look of his cloak billowing in the wind as he moved at high speed, and nodded, saying, "As expected of Dad, he can design such a cool look. I like it." As he spoke, he suddenly stopped and looked outside.
Adam whistled and said, "Someone needs help; it's an armed robbery. Looks like today's not only the day I receive my graduation gift, but also the day of my first job interview."
After hearing this, Howard said, "Go ahead, but remember to hold back and don't kill anyone. Remember, you're a superhero, not a law enforcement officer. You can only subdue them, not punish them on your own. Judging criminals is the job of judges!" After all, he was one of the founders of S.H.I.E.L.D., and his views on superheroes were different from those of ordinary people.
Adam nodded and said, "Don't worry, Dad, I know what to do! And I won't make those judges lose their jobs because of my presence. So, I'm off!"
Howard smiled and stopped him. "Wait! There's something else I need to give you!"
Adam asked in surprise, "Oh, there's a gift too? What is it?"
Howard knew someone needed help, so he spoke quickly, "You need one more thing to conceal your identity. Hmm, that's this mask. I put a lot of thought into this mask. Once you wear it, your face will be completely blurred on all surveillance equipment, leaving no room for anyone to suspect you. Put it on." He then handed Adam a mask that just covered his eyes. In fact, this was Howard's real gift to Adam, as it was a mask that Howard had personally made.
Adam looked at the black mask and immediately liked it. He quickly put it on and said, "Thank you, Dad. I'll be right back!" Then he suddenly disappeared.
In a bank not far from Stark Tower, a scene that can only be seen on television is unfolding: a bank robbery.
Although the United States is not very safe, bank robberies shouldn't happen, but somehow this happened today.
A group of armed robbers wearing pig-head masks stormed into the bank and began a large-scale robbery. Although there were fewer customers at night, there were still some people. As a large bank with an underground vault, it was normal for it to be open 24 hours a day. As a result, these customers who were in urgent need of money were trapped in the bank and became hostages of the robbers, leaving the police who had arrived at the scene helpless.
The Manhattan sheriff, his anger flaring as he looked at the arrogant robbers across the street, said, "Henry, hasn't the task force arrived yet?"
Henry, the assistant to the Manhattan sheriff, quickly went over and said, "We've arrived. Their captain is analyzing the case and preparing a response."
"Hurry up and tell them to hurry up, damn it, who notified these intrusive guys? Disperse them now!!!" The Manhattan sheriff's temper flared up again when he saw the reporters frantically taking pictures.
Henry replied, "Yes, yes, I'll go right away!" His superior could be ruthless when he was angry, so he quickly left.
Just then, a gust of wind suddenly blew by, and by the time people realized what was happening, they could no longer see anything.
Henry shrank back and said, "Why did the wind suddenly pick up? Today is really weird! Hey, girl, you can't go in over there. I'm talking to you. Even if you're a reporter, you can't interfere with our work." As he spoke, he walked towards the daring reporter. If this reporter died here, it would be terrible. Who knows what they would write? In that case, it would be more than just losing his job.
Chapter Eight Encounter with a Magician
PS: "It just so happens to be Uncle 322's birthday, so I'm adding an extra chapter!!! Hehe."
==========================
While Henry was complaining about everything that had happened that day, Adam had already entered the bank.
He had already used his X-ray vision to survey the bank. There were about twenty robbers in total. Eight were guarding the hostages in the lobby, four were hiding near the stairs, presumably to prevent a special forces attack, two were guarding the path leading to the vault, four were filling bags with gold inside the vault, and two were in the bank's locker room where customers' valuables were stored, preparing to force open a locker. So he bypassed the police and began his debut!
----------------------------------
Bank underground vault
Eric Hassen, the mastermind behind the incident, calmly looked at the safe in front of him. While everyone else thought the robbers' target was money, only Eric Hassen knew that his real purpose was a ring stored there—a magical ring that his family had been searching for for about a century.
Yes, it is a magic ring. If anyone else were present, they would definitely think he was crazy, because no one would rob a bank for a magic ring that seems so elusive. But as the last survivor of the Hassen family, Eric knows that the magic ring is real, because his family was a magic family before its decline. Although he cannot use magic now, it is only because his bloodline has not been awakened. Once his bloodline is awakened, he will be able to become a magician who will shock the world.
The Hassen family is a family of wizards whose history can be traced back to the time of King Arthur. They can be considered a very famous family in the wizarding world. Unfortunately, no family can avoid decline. Two hundred years ago, in an accident, the entire main branch of the Hassen family died mysteriously, leaving only one illegitimate son, who was Eric's ancestor.
As an illegitimate child, he had no right to inherit his family's magical knowledge, so he left the magical world in sorrow and became a mortal nobleman. However, this illegitimate child did not forget his family's history. After countless years of hard work and research, he finally found the factor that could unlock his own bloodline - the Hassen family's magic ring.
So he devoted his entire life to finding the magic ring, and before he died, he entrusted this secret to his heirs, instructing them to find the magic ring and restore the family's honor.
The Hassen family searched for the magic ring generation after generation for nearly a century. By the time Eric's great-grandfather came along, science had begun to flourish and no one believed in the existence of magic anymore. So the story was recorded in Eric's grandfather's diary as a family chronicle.
Eric was supposed to live like any other ordinary person, far away from magic and superpowers, but the world is a strange place, and by chance he came into contact with a side of the world that no one else knew about—mutants!
Obsessed with supernatural powers, Erik begins researching mutants, angering Magneto, a hawk among the mutants, and ultimately leading to his assassination attempt. Later, both his parents are killed in another assassination attempt. Grief-stricken, he recalls stories his grandfather told him when he was a child. Seeking revenge, he decides to try his luck at the old mansion and finds his grandfather's notebook.
After studying some clues in his grandfather's diary, he finally found some information about his family. After ten years of investigation and verification, he finally found his family's magic ring, which is now lying in the safe in front of Eric, within easy reach.
Just as Eric was looking at the safe and reminiscing about his past, his most trusted subordinate, Jason, came over and said, "Boss, the police have surrounded the bank. We should leave."
Eric snapped out of his reverie and said, "Go check on those people, and make sure they don't notice us."
Jason nodded and said, "Yes, boss, I'll go right away." After saying that, he left the storage room and went to the vault to instruct his men to speed up the loading of the gold.
Seeing Jason leave, Eric breathed a sigh of relief. He then carefully opened the safe, took out a silver ring inlaid with a purple gemstone from an exquisite box inside, bit his finger, and dripped his blood onto the purple gemstone. A faint purple light flashed, and Eric's expression finally became excited, because this meant that he could really obtain the power of Superman and take revenge on those damned mutants!
Just then, Jason rushed in, shouting, "Boss, something terrible has happened!"
Eric frowned and asked, "What happened?"
Jason hurriedly said, "Boss, we've lost contact with those people upstairs!"
Eric asked, "Lost contact? Has the SWAT team already stormed in? Aren't they afraid we'll shoot the hostages?"
Jason said, "It wasn't the police, it was probably one of those humans we've encountered before! They just reported that the other person was moving too fast, and the gun in their hand suddenly got very hot."
Eric's eyes flashed with a cold light upon hearing this, and he said, "You mean mutants?"
Jason knew about the existence of mutants and that he had come to find a weapon to fight them, but he didn't know it was just a ring. He had been rescued by Eric by chance while Eric was hiding from mutants, and Jason had stayed by Eric's side ever since to repay the debt.
Jason nodded and said, "Yeah, they must be mutants. The people down there are almost at their limit. Let's hurry up and get going!"
Eric sneered upon hearing this, "Leave? Why should I leave? I've already found that thing, and I can test its power!" With that, he began chanting a inherited spell he had just learned from the ring.
Suddenly, the ring on Eric's hand burst forth with a dazzling purple light. When the light faded, the black casual clothes he had been wearing had transformed into a purple magic robe, and a magic staff almost as tall as him appeared in Eric's hand, with a fist-sized purple gem set at the very top of the staff.
Jason stared at Eric in disbelief, stammering, "Boss? Is that you? This is the weapon you were talking about?"
Eric glanced at his clothes and the magic wand in his hand, muttering, "Is this the ring's true power? Hahaha, what incredible power!!!"
Jason looked at the somewhat deranged Eric and cautiously asked, "Boss? Boss!!"
Eric looked at Jason indifferently and said, "Heh, Jason, I'm sorry you saw something terrible, so, may I ask you to die?" He spoke with a distinctly aristocratic accent, yet the topic he was discussing was extremely terrifying.
Jason's eyes narrowed upon hearing this, and he said in disbelief, "Boss... Boss?! What... uh!!!" Before he could finish speaking, he was struck in the chest by a sudden ball of light and instantly lost his life.
Just then, Adam, who hadn't appeared since the beginning of the chapter, finally dealt with all the robbers above and then walked happily toward the location of the last two robbers—the vault.
Adam walked inside, went straight to the storeroom door, and said, "Hey guys, have a good time!"
"It's time to end this now!" With that, he punched open the storage room door, just in time to see Jason being killed by Eric.
Adam frowned as he looked at the dead Jason and said, "Oh dear, this is troublesome. I didn't expect to encounter something like this on my first attempt. Don't you think so, Mr. Wizard?"
Eric sneered, "So you're just a greenhorn, huh? Heh, as the first target of the Phase Mutant's revenge, die!" With that, he swung his cane, sending a magic ball hurtling towards Adam.
Adam frowned, quickly dodging the magic ball's attack. Recalling the description in the book that magicians were afraid of close-range attacks, he used his speed to instantly appear behind Eric, preparing to knock Eric unconscious with a chop to the neck. Unfortunately, reality is reality. Just as his hand was about to touch Eric's neck, dozens of bolts of lightning suddenly flashed from Eric's body, instantly hitting Adam and throwing him away.
With a loud bang, Adam crashed into the back wall, shook his head, stood up, and said, "Damn it, I'm never believing those novels again!" After saying that, he moved again to avoid Eric's attack.
Eric was secretly relieved. If it weren't for the protective power of his magic ring, he would have been knocked unconscious by Adam. Knowing his weakness, Eric realized that he, who had just received the magical inheritance, was no match for this guy with super speed. So he decided to observe the other's fighting style and find an opportunity to leave. After all, revenge is a dish best served cold.
Of course, Adam was unaware of Eric's decision, nor did he know that Eric couldn't withstand several close-range attacks in succession. So this time, he was in a real headache. He dodged Eric's attacks from both sides, but the heat rays he fired were blocked and reflected back by Eric's magic ring. So he no longer knew how to subdue the enemy in front of him.
Adam was getting angry. Hey, this is my debut! Who encounters such a troublesome enemy on their first appearance? Can't we just have some fun?
Of course, what annoyed Adam even more was that Eric had realized that the fledgling superhero in front of him was a young man, and so he kept teasing Adam with his words.
Adam roared, "Damn it! Hey, aren't magicians supposed to be elegant people? How can you have no sense of honor as a magician at all!" He then unleashed a blast of radiant heat from his gaze.
Eric was taken aback, secretly praying that the magic ring could block Adam's attack, but he said defiantly, "Hey kid, elegance is something only nobles do. Do you think a poor bank-robbing magician like me is a noble?" As he spoke, he concentrated even more on reflecting Adam's heat radiation rays back onto Adam, blasting Adam away once again.
Adam was instantly struck by his own attack, slammed against the wall behind him and embedded in it. The powerful impact left Adam momentarily stunned. He coughed twice to catch his breath, took a deep breath, and exhaled sharply, blowing away the dust he had kicked up. He was both angry and relieved to find that the magician was gone.
Chapter Nine became famous
Stark Tower
Howard Stark secretly made ten miniature energy cubes using a method previously employed by Dr. Zola, a scientist from Hydra. He then placed them in a combination lock box with a label on it, took the box to the garage, put it in the trunk, and after contemplating for a while, returned to his laboratory.
He had barely returned to the lab when he felt a gust of wind. Turning around, he saw Adam looking somewhat tired and asked with some confusion, "Huh, what happened?"
Adam took a sip of water and then said, "Dad, you probably don't believe me, but I met someone today—a magician!!! Not the kind who performs magic tricks, but a magician with supernatural powers."
Howard was taken aback and said, "A magician? I didn't expect there to still be magicians these days."
Upon hearing this, Adam asked, "Huh? Dad, you know about magicians?"
Howard nodded and said, "Yeah, I know. You know what I did before. During my time at S.H.I.E.L.D., I got to know this world all over again. But I thought magicians should be extinct. I didn't expect there would still be some left. But weren't you going to rescue people? How did you run into magicians?"
Adam explained, “There was a group of people robbing a bank just now. After I knocked out all the robbers, I found the magician in the bank’s locker room. He had killed his partner when I arrived. What’s strange is that I had already seen through all the robbers before entering the bank, but I didn’t find anything unusual. I didn’t expect that when I went in again, that person had turned into a magician.”
After hearing this, Howard said, "It seems he has something big inside. Their purpose in robbing the bank must also be for this magical item."
Adam nodded and said, "Yes, that should be it. I was actually a little puzzled earlier about why that person, who had the strength to completely defeat me, would run away in the end. But now that I think about it, he must have just acquired magic and wasn't proficient in it. In order to avoid being caught by me, he had no choice but to run away. If I had realized that earlier, I would have caught him much sooner. I wonder where that guy has gone now."
Howard smiled slightly after hearing this and said, "Alright, don't be upset. Leave the rest to the police. Go back and get some rest, and then think about how to proceed."
Adam nodded and said, "Hmm, that works too. By the way, Dad, aren't you going back?"
Howard shook his head and said, "No, I still have some work to do. You can go back by yourself."
Adam replied, "Oh, okay, I'll head back now. Goodnight!" and left Stark Tower.
After Adam left Stark Tower, he went back to sleep. But one organization was keeping itself very busy with the events of the night.
On the ground floor of an ordinary building on Long Island, New York, lives an extraordinary group of agents who identify themselves as agents of the Strategic Homeland Defense, Attack and Logistics Agency. They are analyzing information they have obtained from the New York Police Department.
Wearing a black leather trench coat, and with one eye covered by a matching black leather eye patch, Nick Fury looked at the video footage that had been delivered to him and said calmly, "Still haven't figured out their identities?"
A technician shook his head and said, "There's nothing we can do, sir. This is the clearest photo we have right now."
After the technician finished speaking, he projected two photos onto the big screen. One was a mysterious person wearing a dark blue bodysuit with an "S" embroidered on the chest, a dark red cloak behind him, and a black mask that just covered his eyes. The other was a magician leaping out of a window, wearing a purple magic robe and holding a magic wand. His face was covered by the hood of his magic robe, so it was also an image where his features were not clearly visible.
A stunningly beautiful woman with black hair, dressed in a black uniform, walked in expressionlessly. She approached Nick Fury and said, “Sir, I’ve gone to the police station to check the situation. This man, who resembles a knight in shining armor, rescued all the hostages and subdued all the robbers. One of the robbers died, and another is missing. This sorcerer is very likely the last robber. Also, the bank suffered no financial loss except for a recently deposited ring. I suspect that ring might be a magical item, and that was probably the robbers’ initial target!”
Nick Fury nodded and said, "You did a good job, Agent Hill. That's useful information. We've now confirmed that this person is Shadow, but we need to find out his identity!"
