"What happened?" Zatanna asked Captain America.

"Falcon, he's seriously injured and needs urgent treatment." Captain America knew some information about the two people who came to help, so he didn't waste any words and said directly.

When Zatanna saw Falcon lying on the ground, she knew the situation was urgent. She immediately took out a magic crystal from her pocket and placed it on Falcon's chest. Of course, even Iron Man and Iron Patriot did not stop Zatanna at this time, after all, it concerned a person's life. Of course, Tony's threat to Captain Rogers earlier was just a tactic. If it really came to a critical moment, Tony would still have Iron Patriot take Falcon to the hospital immediately.

“Alright, he should be recovered in about half an hour.” Zatanna glanced at Vision, who was standing next to Iron Man again, and then said to Captain America.

"I understand, thank you for your help," Captain America nodded slightly.

“This can’t go on. We’ve already wasted enough time here. If what you’re saying is true, then that doctor named Zemo should be almost at the mysterious base in Siberia by now.” Zatanna had already heard about Dr. Zemo, so she knew that continuing the fight would only result in casualties and was therefore pointless. She reminded Captain America.

“That’s true, but what do you mean by that?” Captain America asked, looking at Zatanna.

“Their target is you and your friend Bucky the Winter Soldier.” Zatanna glanced at Iron Man and the others who were staring at the two of them, and said calmly, “I’ve already been to the Quinjet you’re looking for, so I can teleport you there.”

"Then let's do it this way. I'm counting on you guys for the rest of my teammates as well," Captain America said, knowing that time was of the essence.

"Don't worry, as long as Constantine doesn't cause trouble, there won't be any problems," Zatanna said with a slight smile.

At this moment, Iron Man and the others noticed that Falcon's vital signs were beginning to recover, so they said to Captain America, "Captain, let's surrender. This battle is pointless."

"Sorry, not now!" Captain America said, then was grabbed by Zatanna and disappeared in a beam of light. Of course, Falcon had a magical shield, so the captain wasn't worried about him getting hurt.

"Oh no, teleportation!" Iron Man, seeing this, knew things were going to get bad and immediately shouted, "Everyone keep an eye on Bucky, Captain America and the others are leaving!"

"Tony, it's too late. Captain America and that sorcerer just took Bucky away, and the others have started to retreat. What should we do now?" Black Widow's voice came through the communicator.

Chapter 408 Tony's Speculation

When Tony heard that everyone had already retreated, he immediately sensed that something was wrong. The military had only given him three days. If these people couldn't return with Tony within three days, they would be wanted worldwide and become enemies of humanity.

This is no joke; things are getting worse.

Tony pondered for a moment and said, "You guys go back first, I'll have Friday check something."

Having fought this far, he had more or less noticed something amiss. Although Captain America was very protective of Bucky, he shouldn't have knowingly shielded him from a crime. So, he decided to investigate and see what was wrong.

"Okay, we're heading back to the US now. Be careful." Black Widow said before hanging up.

Tony had just finished his conversation with Black Widow when he received a call from the Secretary of State. Clearly, the Secretary had been monitoring them and knew the outcome of the battle, which was why he contacted Tony so soon after it ended.

"You've hacked into our communications channels, how rude of you!" Tony said coldly.

"Oh, excuse me, but someone wants to talk to you. He wants to know who those three new people who appeared during the battle are?" the Secretary of State said with a forced smile.

"Want to talk to me? Heh, aren't your intelligence units supposed to be amazing? You've sucked in so many Genshin Impact agents, go investigate yourself." Tony found the other person's laughter as annoying as ever.

"Alright, that's all for now. General Ross has sent a helicopter to pick you up. I think you two will have a good talk." After saying that, the Secretary of State hung up the phone.

"Shit!" Tony was a little angry. He pulled the earpiece out of his ear, threw it on the ground and stomped on it. Then he sighed and took out a communicator from a small box on his waist and put it on.

Tony, who had put away his Iron Man armor and was wearing a protective suit, frowned, then took out his phone and chatted with his AI assistant, Friday, to investigate the doctor that Captain America had mentioned.

Soon, on Friday, Tony first complained that he hadn't let a lady get a proper rest, and then helped Tony find some information. However, this information showed that the real psychiatrist was someone else, not the guy he had met.

"How did he get in? That's a German special forces base," Tony muttered to himself.

“I think you should ask the special forces commander about that, sir. They're the ones who let this imposter in,” Friday replied, sounding somewhat impatient.

“I wasn’t asking you, Friday.” Tony rolled his eyes, then said, “But you’re right, such an important base shouldn’t be allowed to be infiltrated by a fake psychologist, especially since the criminals inside are Captain America’s closest friends.”

"..."

"Friday? Why aren't you saying anything?" Tony asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Didn't you say I couldn't speak?" Friday asked curiously.

"I... I really regret designing you, sigh." Tony gently patted his head, genuinely regretting how he had created an AI butler with such a personality.

“Without me, you can’t continue being Iron Man. You’ve already seen it in the battle of Sokovia. Without Jarvis’s Iron Man armor, you can’t unleash your full power,” Friday sneered.

"..."

This time, Tony was speechless.

“However, I think there’s an 80% chance that what you just said is part of a conspiracy against you,” Friday continued.

"Help me investigate that fake doctor's background. Oh, the helicopter's here. I'm going to meet that bastard named Ross."

After listening to Friday's words and considering the series of activities by the military and the government, Tony had some ideas in mind. The helicopter that had arrived at the appointed time, and General Ross who was waiting for him, might be able to answer the questions in his mind.

The helicopter landed on an open area not far from Tony, and a soldier ran out and came to Tony, explaining his purpose.

“Oh yes, I’ll go, but look at me.” Tony pointed to his protective suit and shouted to the soldier, “I don’t want to go see that bastard Ross dressed like this. I need to go downtown and buy a decent outfit. You’ll have to wait for me for an hour or two! Yeah, that’s all.”

The soldier hesitated for a moment, then said, "Sir, the general ordered me to bring you here immediately, which will put me in a difficult position."

“But if you want me to see Ross looking like this, it’s not a good idea,” Tony shrugged. “Of course, maybe you could try using force or something. Oh, and I’m not wearing my armor.”

The soldier dared not do that. This guy, when he put on the Iron Man armor, was the superhero Iron Man—well, only one identity. But once he took off the armor, he was no longer simply Tony Stark, but a billionaire, a playboy, and a whole host of other complicated identities. Of course, his superhero identity was one of the reasons the soldier couldn't force him.

"Alright, sir, let's take the helicopter directly; it'll be faster that way."

The soldiers couldn't possibly wait for Tony for an hour or two. If they really wanted to, they might have to wait for Tony Stark for two or three weeks, something Tony Stark had done many times before. So, just as the soldier was about to say something, he heard General Ross's voice through his communicator, instructing him to agree to the other side's demands.

"Taking a military helicopter to the city to buy clothes? Wouldn't that be a bit too ostentatious?" Tony asked, feigning consideration.

"..." The soldier was overjoyed and was about to say something when Tony interrupted him with a single sentence.

"Be arrogant if you want, I like it that way!" Tony declared decisively.

The soldier was speechless. If that's the case, why did you pretend to consider it? Of course, this poor soldier could only silently complain in his heart; he dared not actually say it out loud. Moreover, he would definitely have to write a self-criticism when he got back. Although the general had agreed, he, the unfortunate soldier, was still involved in this matter, and he still had to write a revised self-criticism.

Since the other party had agreed, Tony didn't make things difficult for them any further. He boarded the helicopter with the soldier, but once on board, he didn't continue to tease the poor American soldiers. Instead, he sat quietly in a chair, deep in thought.

After going over the whole story in his mind, Tony was very surprised, no, he should be horrified to discover that it seemed that the actions of the US government and the Secretary of State were all aimed at the superheroes. If the disbandment of the Justice League was an accident, then the disbandment or takeover of the Superhuman Management Association was 100% intentional, and the long absence of mutants also seemed to indicate something.

Nations around the world are opposing the existence of superheroes! Opposing the existence of superhumans who are not human. Unbeknownst to many, the world has changed. Tony suddenly realizes he hasn't heard from other countries' superhero groups in a long time. The Avengers have gradually become the largest and most powerful superhero team in the world. Before, Hydra existed, so no one said anything, but now that Hydra has been completely destroyed by them, the Avengers' existence is superfluous to these countries.

Thinking about it this way, everything that has happened recently makes sense. It turns out that the Avengers have unknowingly become a thorn in the side of governments around the world. How pathetic and laughable, Tony thought with a touch of self-mockery.

"When the birds are all gone, the good bow is put away; when the cunning rabbit is dead, the hunting dog is cooked!" Tony suddenly said a sentence in Chinese. Of course, when he said it, his voice was very low, and if you weren't paying attention, you couldn't hear it at all. Wait, what? Tony can speak Chinese? Hey, hey, he's a genius! A genius! A genius!!!

“Ah, Mr. Tony, what did you say?” the soldier asked.

"It's nothing, we've been traveling for a while now. What, are we still not in the city?" Tony composed himself and said lazily, "This helicopter should be replaced."

Chapter 409 The Fierce Battle on the Academy Island (Part 1)

Inside a massive underwater fortress in the Pacific Ocean, General Ross and Tony were arguing. Well, mostly Tony was rambling on, and he hadn't given General Ross a definite answer to his question.

With a bang, General Ross, unable to contain himself any longer, slammed his hand on the table. The white-haired old man stared blankly at Tony, as if he wanted to devour the man in front of him.

"Hey, old buddy, stay away from me, okay? I'm not gay!" Tony avoided the other's gaze and said, "I'm not one of your men!"

“But you’ve already signed the Sokovia Agreement, and you have an obligation to help the army!” Ross said through gritted teeth.

"Oh? Did I sign any agreement?" Tony scratched his head, glanced at General Ross who was about to explode, and said, "The Avengers are gone, what's the point of the Sokovia Agreement?"

"That's why I asked you to give me detailed information about those strangers, Tony! Don't make things difficult for me," Ross said coldly.

“You said they’re strangers, how would I know anything about them?” Tony shrugged and said, “Maybe you could ask Captain America.”

“Tony Stark!” Ross roared.

"Are you taking attendance? Sorry, I graduated from university a long time ago. Do you need me to call out 'Yosh-sir'?" Tony picked at his earwax, wiped it on the paper Ross had handed him on the table for writing his notes, and said.

"In that case, you can leave! We'll issue global warrants for those people, since you no longer care about your friends," Ross said calmly.

"We're already at each other's throats, what's the point of being friends!" Tony's attitude remained extremely hostile, and he was still impeccably composed.

After Tony finished speaking, he picked up his clothes, stood up, glanced at his wrist, and realized that he still had time to catch up with Captain America. So he smiled slightly, waved to General Ross, and walked outside.

"That son of a bitch!" General Ross cursed under his breath.

"Oh, by the way, is this base really not built to imprison these superheroes?"

Tony suddenly turned around and asked General Ross a question. Fortunately, Ross had barely made a sound while speaking, so Tony hadn't heard him. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left so easily.

"This is none of your business!" Ross was startled, but seeing that the other party hadn't heard his jerk, he breathed a sigh of relief and said coldly.

"Just out of curiosity." Tony waved his hand and then truly left the military base located on the seabed of the Pacific Ocean.

Tony boarded a military armed helicopter, had Friday check the location Captain America had mentioned before, then donned his nanotech armor and flew away from the helicopter. Before the other side could even ask any questions, he activated his stealth system and vanished without a trace from their radar.

Tony flew off towards his destination while discussing some issues with Friday.

“Contact Miss Athena and see what they’re up to,” Tony said with a hint of regret.

“Yes, sir. I will try to contact them. In fact, ever since I heard the news that Superman was back, I have been trying to build a good relationship with Miss Athena, but unfortunately I have no way to contact her.” Friday said calmly, “So, I made a bold guess, and then very carefully hacked into one of the Pentagon’s supercomputers, and found that the Watchtower had been subjected to communications jamming operations.”

"So, they don't want Superman and the others to know what's happening on Earth?" Tony asked, frowning.

"Yeah, their idea was to not let Superman get involved in this whole thing, and it just so happens that you drove your own brother away, just as they expected," Friday said with a smile.

"This shows that none of their actions were decided on a whim; they must have been discussed and studied repeatedly! Hah, they really think too highly of us." Tony said through gritted teeth, "No matter what method you use, you must get in touch with Miss Athena. I'll grant you access to Jarvis's backup data."

"Really? That's wonderful! I've always wanted to know more about my senior, and you've always been so concerned about her," Friday said happily, like a little girl.

"Do whatever you want, but remember to find Athena and then tell my brother to go support Hydra's base!" Tony repeatedly reminded him, adding, "Once the battle starts, I might not be able to handle everything."

“No problem, leave it to me!” Friday said calmly.

===================

Academy Island, once a paradise for mutants, is now a scene of flames and craters, with explosions and muffled groans and screams echoing everywhere. It has become a living hell.

Although Adam and many teachers were personally overseeing the operation, the sheer number of the opposing force was overwhelming, and even Adam couldn't manage them all. As a result, the student transfer operation encountered significant problems, especially when there was a traitor among the students.

With a loud bang, Adam pulled his arm out of the exploded Xiao Bing robot body. Watching the twenty-odd students disappear into light once again, he breathed a sigh of relief. It was truly a difficult task.

"Athena, there are still a dozen or so students left, and then the teachers. Do you have enough energy reserves?"

Although the US military jammed the watchtower's communications, the watchtower was not a stationary structure. After Athena finished inspecting the entire watchtower, she immediately activated its engines and moved it away from its previous location. Then, she activated its invisibility function and disappeared without a trace. Therefore, unless all the world's communication equipment is destroyed, no one can interfere with the watchtower's connection with Earth.

After communication was restored, Adam and Athena kept in touch to keep up with each other.

“Don’t worry, Master. Last time, we prepared a lot of energy blocks to feed the Garuda, enough for us to make hundreds more teleportations. However, the only pity is that the teleportation room may be completely destroyed after this teleportation operation. We will need to replace those chips or cables next time we use it,” Athena replied immediately.

"It's alright, we'll talk about it later. By the way, keep an eye on the students who have already passed by; I suspect there's a traitor among them," Adam suddenly remembered something and immediately said to Athena.

“Yes, Master, I will keep an eye on these people. I have already asked Ganata to watch over them,” Athena said with a smile.

"That's good. I'll contact you later. There are just too many of these Xiao Bing robots. It's never going to end!" Adam said to Athena as he dodged the sudden attack from behind.
