"What exactly happened?" Christine asked, frowning.

“Some organization on Earth is using a powerful electromagnetic interference system, seemingly targeting our Watchtower,” Athena continued. “I have now completely lost contact with Earth.”

"Okay, I'm fine now, I'll be right there." Upon hearing this, Christine cursed inwardly at the opportunistic actions of certain forces on Earth. She told Athena and immediately used divine magic to teleport away.

Adam overheard every word of Athena and Christine's conversation while fighting on the other side. Although he was very anxious, his opponent, General A, was also quite troublesome, which made him regret his previous chauvinism. However, he was not too worried about Christine's safety, since there were very few people on Earth who could harm her, and most of them were her friends.

"Yes, Master, I will do my best to find the culprit behind this incident," Athena assured her.

"Okay, if communications are restored, report the situation on Earth to me immediately," Adam said while fighting. "That's all for now. I'll wait for your news!"

Chapter 302 The Battle of New York (Part 7)

"Damn it, tell them to speed up the repairs on the warship!" Nick Fury said angrily.

"Sir, what do we do now?" Maria Hill asked.

"There's nothing we can do now, we can only wait for their news," Nick Fury said with a sigh, staring at Captain America and the others on the screen.

"Are we just going to stand by and watch them fight?" Maria Hill said, somewhat agitated. "We can activate the backup plan!"

“Hill, calm down. You know, backup plans shouldn’t be used lightly!” Nick Fury shook his head and refused.

"It's already this late, and you're still thinking about wearing down the mutants and superheroes?" Maria Hill said coldly. "You're becoming less and less like the Nick Fury you used to be, sir!"

"The weapons in the backup plan are all extremely lethal. Once we use them, we will face condemnation and boycotts from various countries!" Nick Fury said without changing his expression. "According to the agreement we signed before, these weapons should not be in our S.H.I.E.L.D. We are researching them in secret and cannot expose them now."

Just then, a liaison officer suddenly looked up and said, "Sir, the council needs to see you and wants you to go to the liaison office."

Nick Fury frowned and said to Maria Hill, "You stay here and watch, I'll go listen to what they have to say."

After Nick Fury finished speaking, he turned and walked out of the command room. About ten minutes later, Maria Hill's communicator kept flashing, and Nick Fury's exasperated voice came through it.

"Maria, stop the fighter jet that's about to take off!"

Maria Hill paused for a moment, then asked, "What happened?" and gestured to the liaison officer beside her to stop the fighter jets from flying on the deck.

"There's no time to explain, I'm going out to check!"

Nick Fury didn't answer Maria Hill's question. After saying one sentence, the communicator went silent. Soon after, Maria Hill heard an explosion coming from the deck. Just as everyone inside was panicking and wondering what had happened, Nick Fury walked in from outside with a dark expression.

“What happened?” Maria Hill asked in a deep voice.

“A fighter jet has already taken off,” Nick Fury said in a low voice, but with more disappointment in his tone. “The Council wants to use nuclear weapons to attack the Manhattan area.”

"What? Nuclear weapons?" Maria Hilton roared in anger. "What the hell are those damned guys trying to do?"

“We must stop this, or things will get really bad,” Nick Fury said, shaking his head.

"Contact Tony Stark immediately, quick, quick, quick!" Maria Hill commanded rapidly.

"Sir, we've made contact!" The liaison officer acted quickly, soon contacting Tony Stark, who was in the middle of a battle, through Jarvis.

"Hey Nick, what's up? We have a big shot here!" Tony Stark's voice came through the communicator.

“Tony, listen, a fighter jet carrying a nuclear warhead is heading towards Manhattan.” Nick Fury didn’t waste any words and immediately explained what had happened, saying, “You guys need to figure something out.”

"Damn it, they're really giving us trouble!" Tony was furious upon hearing this and cursed out loud, quickly sending insults to Nick Fury and the families of the S.H.I.E.L.D. council members.

"I'll leave that to you!" Nick Fury seemed not to have heard Tony's swear words, and immediately disconnected after saying that.

“What a mess this is!” Maria Hill sighed.

"Now, all we can do is pray that the Avengers succeed. Sigh, these guys really know how to cause trouble. Superman just took away the enemy's general, and they pull this on us." Nick Fury rubbed his face, then began urging the maintenance department to speed up the launch of the space carrier.

A gigantic figure emerged from the suddenly enormous portal at a seemingly slow but actually incredibly fast speed. Iron Man, hovering in mid-air, was quite annoyed upon seeing this and wanted to tell the gigantic figure that had just emerged from the portal, "Dude, you've gone into the wrong script! The huge figure that just walked out of the portal was a giant monster that was about 45 meters tall, shaped like a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and was half robot and half living being. As soon as it came out, it smashed a huge hole in a skyscraper next to Stark Tower.

“Okay, no problem!” Tony dodged the Tyrannosaurus Rex’s attack and said, “It seems this guy doesn’t like me. Hopefully, Hulk can beat him.”

Hawkeye said in a deep voice, "Natasha, close the portal now!"

"Understood!"

On the top floor of Stark Tower, Natasha held Loki's staff, which had already pierced the Tesseract's protective shield.

Iron Man's sudden remark nearly made Natasha throw her staff away, so she asked in confusion, "What's wrong? If we don't close the portal soon, and more monsters like that come out, we won't be able to defeat them."

“It’s not that I’m unwilling to close the portal now,” Tony said, his voice filled with helplessness and boundless anger. “Big Baldy just told me that S.H.I.E.L.D.’s gift is on its way.”

"What do you mean?" Captain America asked. "Stop joking around now, Tony. Time is running out. Professor X has lost control of that Tyrannosaurus Rex monster."

"A nuclear warhead!"

Iron Man's voice was very calm, but it made some of the people who were fighting the aliens pause for a moment, and they were almost attacked by the enemy.

"Who would believe the official explanation? Even though you're a police officer, please don't interfere with our freedom of the press!" a reporter shouted.

"Besides, you just fired a shot, didn't you? I've noted it down," another reporter said, seemingly eager to stir up trouble.

However, Officer John knew exactly what was going on inside. After all, even humans couldn't completely expel all the humans in these four blocks. Only the power of the government could be relied upon. Moreover, as soon as the New York City government heard that aliens were about to invade Earth, it immediately arranged for the police and military to cooperate with the superheroes.

“Alright, gentlemen, you certainly have the freedom to interview, but we also have the right to refuse your interview!” John was not afraid of their threats and said calmly, “Of course, if you want to file a complaint, well, my badge number is written on my chest, and I can also let you take my picture here.”

The reporters were speechless at Officer John's evasive behavior. Just then, a violent explosion and the sound of buildings collapsing came from inside. Everyone looked towards the source of the sound, but unfortunately, there was only a green screen and they couldn't see anything at all.

Just then, a man who was live-streaming on his phone suddenly cried out, saying that his phone had burned for some reason. Everyone looked and saw that the phone he had thrown on the ground was indeed smoking.

"Hey, your phone isn't a Samsung, is it?" a reporter joked.

The livestreamer said with great dissatisfaction, "Who would carry a bomb that could explode at any moment? This is a phone from the Dawn Group, and I've never heard of such a thing happening!"

Just then, someone in the crowd suddenly pointed behind everyone and shouted, "Oh my God, look behind us! God, what's going on?"

"Extraterrestrials!" came a man's excited voice.

When everyone turned around, they saw that the green light that had been blocking their view had disappeared. In the opposite direction, about a dozen robots emitting black smoke lay sprawled on the ground. In the distance, they could see a huge monster fighting with the super heroes. The area was filled with craters and debris from explosions, and some creatures that were clearly not human lay on the ground, seemingly lifeless.

"What exactly is going on?" a reporter murmured.

"Hey, don't go over there, it's dangerous!" Just then, a man suddenly ran out and broke through the police cordon, ignoring the shouts from the police behind him.

"Damn it, you guys keep a close eye on things!" Officer John snorted, then said to the officers around him, "Anyway, our weapons can't kill anyone right now. If anyone tries to break through the perimeter, shoot immediately!"

His deputy, upon hearing the order, was immediately puzzled and said, "What? Open fire immediately? But this..."

"No buts, follow orders!" John said, then added, "I'm going to rescue them. Those damned guys, they're courting death!"

After giving his instructions, John immediately ran out. Just as he stepped inside, a blue light suddenly flashed across the smoking robot, restoring its power and once again raising the green screen to block the view from the outside.
