"Oh my God, watch out!" a gray-haired man shouted after seeing what was happening outside. "Quick, stop the car! We're going to crash!"
"What?" The woman driving had just said that when she felt something hit the car hard. She screamed and slammed on the brakes, almost flipping the car over.
“Oh, we almost died, Jane, all because of your terrible idea,” the woman driving complained.
"Alright, let's not talk about that now. We need to check on that person from earlier." Jane didn't say anything about her friend's complaints because she knew her friend's temper; she was just talking.
"You mean we hit someone? Oh my god, I only got my driver's license less than a month ago, I hope I'm not that unlucky!" The woman quickly got out of the car, went to the man lying on the ground, and said, "He's not dead, is he?"
Jane shook her head and said, "I don't know, but the injury must be quite serious." She then went over and turned the person over, checking their injuries to find they were completely unharmed.
Chapter 277 The Stooge and the Hammer
In the sky, Adam flew ahead, guided by Athena, and they quickly arrived over New Mexico. At this time, an anomaly in the nearby electromagnetic field strongly affected the communication between Athena and Adam.
“Master, it seems we have no choice but to come here. However, you should have noticed that the center of that storm is the location of the abnormal spatial fluctuations!” Athena said.
"Understood, I'll contact you later." Adam finished speaking and noticed that Christine was already behind him, while Tony was still flying far away. So he said, "Give Tony a route map, Christine and I will be going now!"
“Okay, Master, I think Tony will definitely improve his flying ability after he goes back this time. Hehe, I heard him complaining all the way.” Athena seemed to enjoy seeing Tony encounter all sorts of troubles and said with a smile.
Christine, who had already arrived beside Adam, frowned slightly as she looked into the distance and said, "I sense an aura that doesn't belong to this world. Well, how should I put it? It's like the aura that my mother possesses."
"The aura of the Norse gods... does that mean those who came to Earth this time are very likely from the Norse gods?" Adam asked doubtfully.
“Perhaps, but I really can’t figure out their purpose in coming to Earth. After all, in their eyes, Earth is an inferior world, full of mortals,” Christine said with a hint of disdain.
“We’ll find out when we get there,” Adam shrugged. “But I rarely hear you use that tone.”
As Christine flew, she said, "It's probably because of my father and mother's influence. Although my mother is the sun goddess, she doesn't need to drive the sun chariot all day now. The current divine realm is a special world where the sun goddess doesn't need to exercise divine authority. In addition, because of my marriage to my father, she is not well-liked in the divine realm. However, my mother doesn't seem to like the people in the divine realm either. She lives almost entirely in the same demiplane as my father."
“This is really complicated,” Adam said, pursing his lips. “Okay, the energy at the center of the tornado is starting to get stronger, let’s add to it.”
“That’s not a tornado, it’s the Rainbow Bridge!” Christine corrected. “It’s what gives the Norse gods a slight advantage among the various pantheons. Odin can use the Rainbow Bridge to attack any world if he wants, but the price is very high.”
"Hmm, another strategic weapon. It seems that only when a power that everyone fears emerges can there be peace and tranquility in this world," Adam remarked.
Christine nodded slightly and said, "That's right. After all, there are no limits to what is allowed. If there were nothing that could calm people down, this world would have been destroyed by powerful figures long ago."
Adam and Christine found the topic somewhat heavy, so they stopped talking. Besides, talking in this weather and at high altitudes was simply torture. They arrived in silence above Wonderland Town, where the Rainbow Bridge appeared. With their high-level abilities, they saw the car speeding through the storm and the people appearing on the Rainbow Bridge.
Upon seeing the figure appear, Adam knew that this spatial fluctuation must have been caused by the Rainbow Bridge sending someone from Asgard to Earth. This made Adam frown. Since something like the Rainbow Bridge exists, there must also be something like a portal to another dimension. In that case, no matter how much protection they put in outer space, it would be useless, because the enemy could very well be teleported directly to Earth. Fortunately, every spatial fluctuation could not be concealed, otherwise they would really be blind.
This matter must be resolved, that was Adam's thought, but he also knew that now was not the time to think about it; he needed to meet with the people from Asgard and find out their purpose.
But at this moment, Adam noticed that the person from Asgard had been knocked unconscious by a truck from the human world. This made Adam not only stop his intention to land, but also quietly hover in the air to observe the person from Asgard. As expected, the person did not disappoint him. After lying on the ground for a while, the person stood up again. However, this guy who stood up again seemed to be incoherent, constantly shouting some strange words, and then he was knocked down by a woman below with a stun gun.
"Is this the god from Asgard?" Adam asked Christine, pointing to the people below, completely bewildered.
"Well, judging from his aura, it should be him, but I don't sense any divine power within him. I think he was probably banished to the mortal realm," Christine thought for a moment and said. However, she also felt somewhat embarrassed for her colleague. As a god, he was actually knocked down by a human woman's electric shock. Hmm, should this scene be recorded using magic, or should it be recorded?
Adam noticed that Christine's expression was a little strange and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Oh, it's nothing, I just recorded what happened. When that god from the celestial palace wakes up, I can show him his divine appearance!" Christine said with a hint of excitement.
"Are you sure you're Christine?" Adam asked curiously, subtly moving a little further away.
"Damn fat uncle," Christine cursed inwardly, then instantly reverted to her usual demeanor. Just as she was about to say something, a bolt of lightning suddenly shot out from the sky above where Adam was standing.
"Adam, watch out!!!" Christine shouted immediately.
"What?" Adam was somewhat dazed by the strange atmosphere earlier. After Christine told him to be careful, he actually turned around and looked back. Then, he was instantly struck head-on by a powerful force and crashed to the ground hundreds of meters away with a loud bang.
"Adam!" Christine cried out anxiously and immediately flew towards the direction where Adam had fallen.
Tony, who had just arrived, was puzzled by the situation and asked, "Hey, what happened?"
But Christine had no time to answer and vanished from Tony's sight in an instant. Tony, seeing this, was furious and shouted, "Damn it! We have to improve the flight capabilities when we get back, otherwise every time something happens, I'll be too late to react!"
“Sir, while your idea is correct, I think that kind of speed places extremely demanding requirements on the materials of the armor, and shock absorption during flight is also a problem. If we don’t resolve this issue, I might have to make arrangements for your funeral before we even reach our destination,” Jarvis complained after hearing Tony’s words.
"Uh, Jarvis, it seems there's something wrong with your system. Looks like we'll have to fix that when we get back," Tony said quietly.
"Please ignore what just happened, Mr. Stark. Oh, right, let's hurry over there; something might have happened to your brother," Jarvis immediately reminded him.
"You pass!" Tony scoffed. "Everyone move forward! If I can't keep up, I'll miss every battle, hmph!" With that, he instantly sped off into the distance.
When Tony arrived there, he found that his brother had crashed into the place, turning it into a giant crater resembling a meteorite crater. His brother was sitting to the side, rubbing his chest, while Christine was healing him with magic.
With a thud, Tony landed next to Adam, looked at him and asked, "Hey, what happened? Where's the enemy? They weren't taken care of, were they? Did I come all this way for nothing?" He immediately started chattering away.
Adam frowned, pointed to a dark, indistinct object not far away, and said, "The enemy is that thing. You're not too late."
Tony walked over there in confusion and found that the thing was actually a hammer, a hammer that might have existed in a blacksmith's shop before, all dull and black.
"Are you kidding me?" Tony pointed at the hammer and said, "This is the so-called enemy?"
"That's right, I was hit by this damn hammer! If I ever find its owner, I'll make him taste what it's like to be hit in the face with a hammer!" Adam said angrily. "That damn broken hammer almost disfigured me! Whoever threw that hammer must be blind, or at least half-blind!"
Chapter 278 Adam said, "I'm tired."
"This broken hammer doesn't seem like anything special," Tony said, unable to resist grabbing the handle of the hammer and trying to lift it up, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get the hammer in his hand.
"Hey, what's going on? Why is this thing so heavy?"
“I told you, this thing is heavy.” Adam, now healed by Christine, stood up and walked over to the hammer, asking, “Christine, are you familiar with this thing?”
Christine gently stroked some of the dark patterns on the hammer and said, "If I'm not mistaken, this should be Thor's hammer."
"Thor's hammer? So the one who was just banished to Earth is Thor?" Adam asked curiously. "But isn't Thor the son of the King of Gods? How could he have been banished?"
“Perhaps Thor made some serious mistake,” Christine said. “No wonder that person seemed a bit crazy just now; it turns out he was personally banished to the mortal realm by the King of Gods.”
At this point, Tony was already locked in a battle with Thor's hammer, hovering in the air and using the power of his Iron Man armor to lift it.
After seeing this, Christine shook her head and said, "Tony, you'd better not try. This hammer is not an ordinary hammer. It is the weapon of Thor, the god of thunder in Norse mythology. It is a divine weapon made for him by his father. So you can't lift the hammer by brute force. According to legend, only those who have the consent of the king of the gods or the approval of Thor's hammer can lift this hammer."
"A person recognized by Thor's hammer? Does that mean I can pick it up now?" Adam smiled, walked over, and took Thor's hammer in his hand.
"Huh, what the hell?" Tony looked like he'd seen a ghost and asked, "Don't tell me you gathered them together by brute force?"
"No, that's not it. When I was hit by this damn hammer, I was pinned down and it almost shattered my chest. Then I picked it up and threw it here," Adam said, looking at the hammer in his hand. "But I have a feeling that if I lift this hammer up, something bad will happen."
"What?" Tony asked, puzzled.
"Get out of the way!" Christine immediately rushed to Tony's side and pulled him away. Then the two of them saw an exceptionally thick bolt of lightning strike Adam, who was holding Thor's hammer above his head. Then, as if out of nowhere, an armor set that only warriors in ancient Norse times would wear appeared on Adam's body. Of course, the armor Adam wore was much more aesthetically pleasing than usual.
"What happened?" Tony asked, looking at Adam's drastically changed appearance.
"Ah, this situation, well, congratulations to me, it seems I'm already Thor." Adam looked around at his body as if he had found something fun, then tested the power of Thor's hammer, then pursed his lips and threw the hammer on the ground, instantly reverting to his original appearance.
“It’s certain that this hammer is real,” Adam nodded seriously.
“What’s going on now?” Tony asked.
"When I picked up the hammer, some uses for it popped into my head. It seems Thor's power is contained within this broken hammer. Anyone can become Thor if they can gain the approval of Mjolnir," Adam said, stroking his chin. "But I have a feeling this is a trap. Oh well, Athena, call S.H.I.E.L.D. to clean up this mess. We'll just wait here for me, Thor, to take the bait."
"You mean there's some kind of magic inside this hammer?" Tony asked, puzzled.
"Yes, that's right. The owner of this hammer or his men should be watching it. When I first became Thor, I already felt myself being watched. Heh, these people really treat Earth like a pushover." Adam said, a cold glint in his eyes.
Christine sneered, "Those gods are all like this. They think that places like Earth are within their jurisdiction, so they don't consider other people's thoughts. After all, the weak have no choice."
“Yes, the weak have no choice, but now that we are here on Earth, let’s show them that even a small planet like Earth is not something they can covet.” Adam snorted and said, “Tony, I’m sorry to send you back. This matter seems to have taken me somewhat unexpectedly.”
Tony was silent for a moment after hearing this, then said, "Okay, I'll go back now!" He was filled with sadness and anger. Had all his efforts been in vain? He felt that becoming Iron Man had brought him closer to his brother. But a simple investigation mission had exposed so many problems, not to mention that he wasn't even qualified to participate in the real battle. How could Tony, a prodigy, tolerate this?
But now, the facts are clear: his strength is indeed no match for those gods and the like. But this is the last time; he will not allow himself to be absent again. This humiliation is enough for him to suffer once.
“This time, it seems you’ve hurt his pride,” Chris said, standing next to Adam.
“It’s better to hurt his pride than his body. I don’t actually want him to become a superhero. After all, we’re living this kind of life ourselves, and we know how much pressure and responsibility there is. But since he has chosen this path, he has to keep improving his abilities so that he can not only protect more people but also protect himself. Only by living can he help more people,” Adam sighed.
After hearing this, Christine gently took Adam's hand, silently supporting her lover and fiancé. With him by her side, she was not afraid of anything.
Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, it was already the third day since Thor's arrival. That night, after S.H.I.E.L.D. took control of Thor's hammer, they erected a protective wall around it and began to study the mysterious hammer. Adam did not tell them the truth. After all, 99% of the people in S.H.I.E.L.D. were scientists or graduates of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy. It was better to let them see it with their own eyes than to waste words trying to convince them of Thor's existence.
The scientists at S.H.I.E.L.D. were very interested in the mysterious hammer, constantly going in and out and discussing it, while Adam and Christine were in the newly established command center, drinking coffee and talking with Phil Coulson about future plans.
"Mr. Adam, do you mean to let others know about the existence of this hammer?" Phil Coulson asked with some doubt. "Why would you do that? After all, according to convention, such things should be well protected and kept from being discovered by the public."
“Calm down, Coulson. I’m doing this to lure out the owner of this hammer and ask him a few questions. Once you get the word out, he’ll definitely come back here for his thing,” Adam said, sipping his coffee. “Also, don’t think of that hammer as belonging to S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s a trouble magnet; it’ll eventually have to be returned to its owner.”
“It’s Coulson,” Coulson emphasized, then asked with a hint of helplessness, “So, we won’t have any casualties, will we?”
"Of course not. He's just a slightly stronger ordinary person right now. What you need to do is make things a little difficult for him when he arrives, and then let him get closer to the hammer. If he can lift the hammer, then leave him alone. If he can't, then bring him here. I have some questions to ask him," Adam said with a smile.
“Okay, I hope you’ve done everything right,” Coulson nodded slightly, then turned and walked out.
"It seems the people inside S.H.I.E.L.D. have quite a few opinions about you," Christine said with a smile.
"Hehe, after all, I'm now remotely controlling S.H.I.E.L.D. through Maria. Some of the people in it who are full of justice can't avoid my actions. As long as the prison is under our control, nothing else matters. After the crisis in the future passes, I'll take you away from this planet to find more interesting things in the universe. I won't continue being a superhero anymore," Adam said, stretching.
"Why are you suddenly saying this?" Christine asked.
"Ah, being a superhero is exhausting. There are things you could do yourself, but because you're setting an example for others, you have to suppress your own desires. Actually, my childhood dream was to be president, but now I'm getting further and further away from that dream." Adam sighed, resting his head on Christine's soft body, and said, "I don't regret it, but it's tiring."
Chapter 279 Another one fell
With a thud, a beautiful beer mug crashed to the ground. Everyone immediately turned to look. The person who had smashed the mug was a very tall and handsome man. He seemed quite pleased, contrary to everyone's worries.
"Hey, what are you doing? You've attracted everyone's attention!" Jane looked at the man opposite her with a headache, then said to the waiter who rushed over, "He's just a little drunk, we'll compensate him."
The waiter glanced at the man whose complexion appeared normal, but ultimately said nothing, only reminding them not to repeat the offense before leaving.
"What, did I do something wrong? Where I'm from, we smash cups when we're happy. They're made of real gold or other crystals, unlike the ones here, which are so fragile," the tall man said, seemingly displeased.
“Listen, Toll, this is Earth, not Asgard, so you’ll have to get used to it. Your actions just now could be misunderstood,” Jane said to the tall man.
To be honest, she found it all quite unbelievable. She had taken a little risk for her research and then encountered this man who seemed to fall from the sky. After several tests and confirmations, Jane and her team confirmed that this man was not an idiot, but Thor from the mythological world. In the process, they also encountered agents from S.H.I.E.L.D., and all their research data was confiscated. Now they are preparing to help Thor find his hammer, because Thor said that this would help him regain his power, and he would also bring Jane's data to her.
Well, perhaps it was the power of that last sentence, or perhaps it was Thor's handsome appearance and his status as a god from the mythological era that captivated Jane, who was a woman. In any case, Jane decided to help him.
"Alright, I'll try to get used to it," Thor said nonchalantly. "But you Earthlings are really weak; you're terrified of the slightest noise."
“Thor!” Jane called out, somewhat angrily.
“Okay, I apologize. By the way, when do we leave?” Thor asked.
“Dr. Eric has already gone to find a car with Louis, and we need to be careful. S.H.I.E.L.D. is not an easy organization to deal with,” Jane warned. “And there’s a good chance that someone or someone else from the Justice League will be waiting there, so we have to be careful.”
