"I'm going to rest now, Kal'tsit."
"Remember not to stay up late."
Bai Zhou got up and walked behind the boulder, while giving Kal'tsit some instructions.
"Yes, Your Highness."
Back inside the megalith, Baiyue casually lay on a mat and fell asleep peacefully.
As the sun rises at dawn, the giant rock slowly moves its limbs, rising and falling in the sea of sand.
"Well……"
Bai Zhou woke up from his dream and looked around in a slightly daze.
Good morning, Your Highness.
Kal'tsit is preparing breakfast, which appears to be porridge.
Since there were no weapons loaded inside the boulder, and the space inside was ample, Kal'tsit designed an extra small kitchen there to prepare simple meals.
"Good morning, Kal'tsit."
Bai Zhou was still reeling from last night's epic battle and was momentarily sluggish.
"They've already set off..."
After washing up in the basin beside him, Bai Zhou checked the current state of the boulder.
They were gradually venturing deeper into the desert, and not far ahead lay the territory of King Milko, which Kal'tsit had told him about.
"Is there anything about this King Mirko that we should be wary of?"
Holding his porridge and sipping it slowly, Bai Zhou asked Kal'tsit about some things concerning King Mirko.
"There are no taboos, Your Highness."
Kal'tsit had finished her meal and was waiting for the daytime to end so she could clean up the dishes.
“We are just passing through, and we won’t even be going through his town, so there’s no need to worry that King Mirko will hinder our journey.”
"That's good."
After quickly finishing her food, Bai Zhou began her studies by humming a little tune.
■
"Kal'tsit, what is that?"
Through the view of the megalith, Baiyue discovered something strange.
"Your Highness, what did you see?"
Kal'tsit does not have the ability to link with the Skybreaker, so she cannot share vision with the Giant Stone.
"Hmm...that looks like...the skeleton of an animal?"
Its identity cannot be determined during the day.
“Let’s go take a look, Kal’tsit.”
"If there is no danger, Your Highness."
Kal'tsit was also curious about what Bai Ri had seen.
The boulder changed direction and headed towards the "white mountain" buried in the sand in the distance.
Compared to the corpse, the three-meter-high boulder was like a pebble compared to a mountain.
"This is it, Kal'tsit."
After descending the giant rock during the day, I was once again awestruck by the spectacular sight before me.
The endless yellow sand buried this mountain-like behemoth, and even a single rib of it was taller than the tallest building I had ever seen in broad daylight.
Its length is unknown, with only a portion exposed to the sunlight, its bones gleaming with a ghastly white light. Yet, even this small portion firmly occupies the sky within a hundred-meter radius.
In the Northern Ocean dwells the Kun, whose size is immeasurable, spanning thousands of miles.
The system also expressed its own thoughts.
"Kal'tsit, is this really a creature that once existed?"
Bai Zhou couldn't imagine how such a huge creature could survive in this world.
These colossal creatures, hundreds or even thousands of meters tall, exert immense power with every movement and can turn a south wind into a north wind with a single breath.
"How enormous... how... beautiful."
Gently stroking the skeleton of the giant beast, Bai Zhou praised it with great joy.
"The world once was...much larger than it is now."
"Time flies, and life is fleeting."
"Your Highness, have you ever seen the real ocean? Beneath those boundless waves, there exist creatures even larger than this whale."
"The real ocean..."
I've seen the vast, boundless blue lakes and the long, winding rivers during the day.
But Kal'tsit was talking about the ocean...
"Can we go there and take a look? Kal'tsit, is that alright?"
He wanted to go and see for himself.
"That won't work now, Your Highness."
Kal'tsit gently shook her head.
But she wasn't rejecting the boy.
She simply told him what she knew.
"Evil spirits are everywhere; even in the deepest, darkest ocean, their traces are everywhere."
"Evil..."
During the day, he looked back at the colossal object overhead.
"Even such a creature cannot defeat the demon?"
"Demons... those beings in the ocean are more terrifying than those on land. Relying solely on these beasts... has its limits. And demons will constantly evolve, becoming more adapted to this cruel world."
“Even more terrifying…”
"Yes, Your Highness."
"The ocean is boundless and has existed for longer than the land beneath our feet. Even the most learned and talented scholars would not dare to claim that they have thoroughly studied the ocean. Therefore, we should not approach the ocean unless absolutely necessary."
Although it's a real eyesore, Kal'tsit won't be careless about matters concerning the safety of life during the day.
"Even Kal'tsit... has things she doesn't understand?"
"Yes, even I, Your Highness."
No one is omniscient or omnipotent.
"What a pity..."
Bai Zhou once again stroked the giant beast's skeleton, gazed at it, and sighed softly.
He also wanted to see what those living, giant sea monsters looked like.
If the dead are already so awe-inspiring, how beautiful must the living be?
"Let's go, Kal'tsit."
The whale bones were just a small surprise on this long journey. As the distance traveled further, even the enormous whale bones now appeared as insignificant as grains of sand in the distance.
Compared to this vast land, a whale is no different from a fallen leaf, receiving no special favor whatsoever.
"Your Highness, you really like that whale?"
Ever since Baiyue returned to the boulder, Kal'tsit noticed that he seemed to be wanting more.
"Yes, I like it very much."
Even in the daytime, he didn't know why he was so obsessed with those enormous beings.
Perhaps those things are treasures of the world in themselves?
"What a terrifying whale!"
"No wonder..."
Having received his personal confirmation from Bai Zhou, Kal'tsit muttered to herself with a sense of enlightenment.
She probably understands why Bai Zhou likes Mon3tr so much now.
Because compared to ordinary mammals, Mon3tr is larger and more beautiful.
But that's all for now.
Learning of Bai Ri's little quirk was merely icing on the cake for Kal'tsit; it offered no further help.
The journey continues.
They are getting closer and closer to their destination.
But because of this, Baiyue eventually encountered people living on the other half of Sargon's land and gained a deeper understanding of their customs.
"This is the eighth wave of bandits who have dared to attack us."
After manipulating the giant rock to rout and scatter those arrogant natives, Bai Zhou silently complained to Kal'tsit.
"I can accept that the people in the rainforest are all brutes because of the environment, but here, with a king ruling, these people are... sigh, Sargon is so chaotic."
"As I told you, the people here are very hospitable."
Kal'tsit seemed to have a deep understanding of this.
"So this is what enthusiasm is all about..."
Bai Zhou sighed softly, no longer pondering why the Sargons had developed such a warm and hospitable culture.
"Um, Kal'tsit, do you have any nice songs you can teach me to sing?"
