"It's just a little orange cat." hope Nian breathed a sigh of relief, but couldn't help but smile wryly.

I've been really careless lately. The world is so big, how could I possibly encounter something extraordinary so easily?

"What's wrong, are you hungry?"

Seeing that the kitten had no name tag around its neck and looked dirty and pitiful, hope Nian knew that it was probably a stray cat abandoned in the park.

After thinking for a moment, Xinian ran to a nearby convenience store, bought three sausages, and turned back.

Seeing Xinian, the two-legged creature, approaching, the little orange cat quickly hid back in the bushes, its pair of emerald green vertical pupils peeking out, its eyes filled with deep vigilance.

“This is edible, look.” Xinian opened the packaging in front of it, ate one of the sausages with gusto, and placed the remaining two sausages on the ground in front of the grass.

With class about to start, Xinian didn't linger for long.

After he left the park, he looked back and saw the grass in the distance sway violently, and the sausage on the ground had vanished.

Xinian smiled knowingly and continued on his way to school.

In the grass.

Those emerald green vertical pupils watched Xinian leave with a deep gaze. The kitten licked its paws, its small belly showing no sign of swelling. As for the two sausages from before, including their packaging, they had completely disappeared.

……

At the school gate.

Xinian ran into Gwen, who had also just arrived at the school, and the two were visibly startled when they saw each other.

"Gwen, is your cold getting any better?" Xinian stepped forward to greet her.

As a result, Gwen suddenly puffed out her cheeks, pretending not to see him, and quickened her pace into the school.

Xinian looked completely bewildered.

What's going on?

A young girl's thoughts are truly hard to fathom.

hope Nian shook his head, completely baffled, and decided to stop thinking about it.

However, we should still pursue it.

Xinian quickened his pace to catch up. However, the faster he chased, the faster Gwen ran ahead.

The two ran into the teaching building one after the other.

Just then, a girl called out to Xinian in the hallway: "Senior, could you please stop for a moment?"

hope Nian looked up and saw a female student who looked to be about fifteen years old.

The other person's long blonde hair was tied into an old-fashioned single ponytail, with many strands of hair lying messily on her forehead and face. Coupled with the thick black-rimmed glasses she wore, and the way she kept her head down and dared not look people in the eye, she looked exactly like a homebody, an invisible girl at school, or the best target for bullying and ridicule among girls her age.

hope Nian didn't have a particular impression of this female classmate, but out of politeness, he still asked in a gentle voice, "Excuse me, is there anything I can help you with?"

“Um…” The girl hesitated for a moment, bit her lip, and mustered her courage to say, “Senior, my name is Kara Danvers. We met at the opening party.”

“I remember now.” Xinian suddenly realized that during the opening party, this female classmate was alone in a quiet corner outside the crowd. Perhaps it was because he was thinking about some of his experiences before he met Gwen when he was young that he couldn’t bear to go up to her and explain some of the school’s measures and rules to her.

However, that was almost half a year ago.

"You still remember me." The girl's eyes lit up instantly, and she raised her head slightly, staring intently at Xinian in front of her. She seemed to have finally made up her mind, even though she had been hesitant before.

"Hmm?" Whether it was her overly acute spider sense or her sixth sense as a woman, Gwen, who had stopped in front of the corridor, suddenly had a bad feeling when she saw this scene.

She wanted to step forward and interrupt Kara to finish her sentence.

As if anticipating Gwen's intention to interrupt, Kara clenched her fists and quickened her pace, her voice rising sharply: "Senior, I... I like you. Please go out with me!"

Her voice wasn't loud, but it wasn't quiet either; it could be heard almost throughout the entire corridor.

hope Nian opened his mouth wide.

"This!" Gwen's beautiful eyes narrowed sharply as she was a step too late, and a few seconds later, the students in the corridor were in an uproar.

"Youth is wonderful."

A passing teacher turned a blind eye, shook his head, and offered a comment.

……

Ring ring ring!

The bell rang, signaling the end of get out of class.

Amidst a commotion, a large number of students poured out of the teaching building from the vast high school campus. Apart from some students discussing classes and lunch, most were still talking about the silver-haired goddess and the campus confession incident that morning.

Childhood sweethearts vs. a girl who suddenly appears?

Popularity Ranking No.1 vs. No.1 in Popularity Ranking?

This is definitely going to make it into the school's weekly news! But thankfully, we'll have a week-long holiday after today.

Xinian, the male protagonist of this incident, packed his things and left the school gate early. Behind him, Gwen, carrying her schoolbag in one hand, shuffled after him in her boots. She had completely forgotten her earlier embarrassment and asked angrily, "Xinian, you're not really going to accept the girl's confession after just meeting her, are you?"

"It's not our first meeting," hope Nian corrected, "It's more like our second meeting."

"A second time? This is too much!" Gwen exclaimed in alarm.

"Don't worry, I didn't agree to her request."

"But you didn't refuse."

“That’s because…” hope Nian paused, looking at Gwen with a serious expression: “You know what? Confessing in public shows that she mustered a lot of courage.”

"I haven't figured out how to respond to her courage and determination yet." Xi Nian said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Gwen, I accidentally dragged you into this. This matter originally had nothing to do with you."

Gwen stared blankly at Xinian's retreating figure as he continued walking forward, her soft, glossy lower lip now tightly bitten by her teeth.

No, it's not. It's nothing.

Gwen thought to herself.

Chapter 22, The Devourer of the Primal Energy Appears Online

As the sun was about to sink into the city, and dusk fell, a light snow began to drift down from the sky.

On his way home, Xinian made a point of looking at the lawn as he passed through the park.

The kitten that was lying inside this morning has disappeared.

"Good luck in the dead of winter, poor little guy."

hope Nian let out a breath, touched the sausages in his pocket, wrapped the jacket around his shoulders, and walked away.

But when hope Nian returned to his apartment building and saw the elevator doors open, a bold horizontal line appeared above his head: "What are you doing here?!"

Xinian looked completely bewildered.

Inside the elevator of the residential building, a small orange cat was curled up in a corner, having been lying there for who knows how long.

After Xinian appeared at the elevator entrance, the little orange cat seemed to sense something, yawned, rubbed its sleepy little eyes with its paws, and showed an innocent expression.

……

hope Nian was a little dumbfounded.

How did this cat know he lived here? No, it's probably just a coincidence!

hope Nian pretended not to see it and walked into the elevator, pressing the button for her floor. Several other residents entered the elevator, but to avoid the kitten being stepped on, hope Nian chose to stand in front of it.

The elevator started to go up, and pedestrians went in and out.

During this time, Xinian stole a glance at the kitten lying on the ground behind him.

Hmm, well-behaved, not making a sound.

Until they reached the sixteenth floor where he lived.

Xinian hasn't set off yet.

The orange cat, who had been crouching in the corner and was already awake, suddenly got up first, took a step and squeezed through the gap between his feet, and walked out of the elevator.

"No way?" hope Nian's lips twitched slightly as he stepped out of the elevator and looked at the kitten quietly squatting at his door.

What's going on with this cat?

……

"I'm home."

Inside the house, Diana was taken aback when she saw Xinian walk in with the kitten. She asked curiously, "Did you pick him up?"

"Auntie, I wanted to ask you something first, did you pick her up?" Xinian asked weakly.

“No.” Diana shook her head decisively: “In all these years, I’ve only picked up one person, you, and no one else.”

“That makes sense.” hope Nian scratched his head, looked at the little orange cat that had entered the house so naturally, and hesitated, “Auntie, can we adopt it?”

Since he was already there, and it was a cold winter outside, he really couldn't bear to kick it out.

“I have no objection,” Diana nodded. “However, you’ll have to be prepared to take care of it from now on.”

“Of course. Actually, I’ve wanted to have a cat for a long time.” hope Nian smiled and picked up the little orange kitten, saying without hesitation, “Then from now on, you’ll be called ‘Little Emperor’.”

The little orange cat blinked, completely baffled by the perfunctory nature of the name.

Aunt Diana, with the air of a perfect wife, smiled and urged, "Go take a shower first, dinner will be ready soon."

"Alright. Let's shower together, Little Emperor." After a moment's thought, Xinian simply picked up the little orange cat and went into the bathroom together.

In a bathtub filled with warm water.

The little orange cat was unusually unafraid of water, lying blankly by the bathtub, letting the naked Xinian rub shampoo onto its pale orange fur. Soon its whole body was covered in white foam.

Wash the cat's belly.

hope Nian turned the little orange cat over, rubbing its soft, whitish fur on its lower abdomen, and couldn't help but mutter, "Little Emperor, so you're a female after all..."

"Meow!" The kitten, which had been squinting, suddenly became angry and violently bit Xinian's finger.

The slightly sharp canine fangs pierced the skin, and a drop of blood fell onto the bathroom floor.

"Little Emperor!" Xinian cried out in pain and quickly withdrew his finger.

As if realizing it had done something wrong, the little orange cat looked at Xinian's bleeding finger and showed a human-like expression of grievance.
